Our Mission

Montini Catholic High School is a family-centered co-educational college preparatory high school rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as emulated by our founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle. We are committed to the education of the whole person. Our Lasallian tradition recognizes the sacredness of all persons and educates students of diverse abilities, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Our History

St. John Baptist de La Salle, a French cleric, founded the Brothers of the Christian Schools in the late 17th century. Named the Patron Saint of All Teachers, St. John Baptist de La Salle dedicated his life to providing a well-rounded, Christian education to students of all faiths.

In 1963, the De La Salle Christian Brothers were invited to sponsor and manage a new Catholic high school in the Lombard area, and in 1966, Montini Catholic opened its doors to 217 freshmen.

Today, Montini Catholic has graduated over 7,000 Lasallians, who are a diverse group of individuals and are lifetime members of one unique community. Our school consists of students from over 135 private and public grade schools in over 25 cities in the Chicagoland area. All faiths are welcomed members of our Montini Catholic family.

Montini students are part of a Lasallian community spanning 80 countries and currently educating over one million students worldwide. Locally, Montini Catholic is a member of the Midwest District of The De La Salle Christian Brothers, which includes three universities and fourteen high schools.

Lasallian education centers on five interlocking values which are:

• Quality education

• Inclusive community

• Faith in the presence of God

• Concern for the poor

• Respect for all people

A Lasallian education at Montini Catholic means that your calling matters to us. We firmly believe that your high school experience should be unique to your needs. Our Montini Catholic family touches hearts, stimulates minds, and cultivates leadership to prepare students for life, work and service.

After four years at Montini Catholic, graduates are well-rounded men and women, life-long learners and responsible citizens, who are ready to face their college years and beyond.

Montini graduates are well-rounded men and women, life-long learners and responsible citizens who are ready to face college and beyond.

Montini Catholic’s pursuit of academic excellence is reflected in a comprehensive, rigorous college preparatory curriculum.

#be inspired

Our graduation requirements exceed those recommended by the Illinois State Board of Higher Education.

Each year, Broncos excel in ACT and Advanced Placement examinations – well exceeding national and state averages in both testing programs.

Our pursuit of academic excellence, is also rooted in our commitment to small class size, individualized scheduling, digital learning and most importantly, engaging classroom instruction. A dedicated and talented faculty immerse students in their daily classroom instruction by utilizing iPad technology as well as traditional instruction methods. With an offering of 15 Advanced Placement, Honors Level and 4 Dual College Credit Courses, Bronco students are set up for success.

Ensuring a lifetime of success

A unique feature at Montini Catholic is that we do not place students into academic tracks. Our curriculum allows students to take courses within 4 academic levels: Advanced Placement, Honors, College Prep and Signum Fidei.

Levels are determined by Placement and Proficiency Exam results, grade school records and/or grade school teacher recommendations. (Following our Lasallian mission of inclusive education, Signum Fidei is a selective academic program designed to work with 20 students each year who test below grade level.) All classes are engaging and designed to help students learn at their unique level while preparing them for the demands of college.

#be a champion

Our excellence in the classroom is matched by our long tradition of athletic success!

Bronco students excel on the field while never losing focus of their academic goals in the classroom.

Being a champion means more than state and conference titles. It also involves hard work, discipline and dedication to excellence in the classroom and on the playing field or court. 263 Bronco teams have earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award (established in 2003) which is presented to teams maintaining a 3.0 or better grade point average during their athletic season.

Our excellence in the classroom is matched by the long tradition of athletic team and individual success in state and conference competitions. Since 2000, Montini Catholic teams have won 30 IHSA state championships and numerous sectional, regional and conference titles. Bronco athletes have been offered Division 1 (D1) scholarships to prestigious schools and Big Ten Universities.

Additionally, we are quite thankful to have been able to invest close to $3,000,000 in upgrading our athletic facilities within the past 12 years.

Students can take advantage of opportunities to explore and develop their talents in a wide range of course offerings.

Fine Arts is a graduation requirement for all Broncos. Fifteen courses are offered in art, music and drama. These include three choirs and two bands which perform in five concerts each year. Extra-curricular experiences include three music ensembles and two theatrical productions. Music and Theater each have honor societies - opening up a world of opportunities for students who are both gifted and academically capable.

Always try something new! It's impossible to know what your own experiences will be doing a certain activity without trying it first. Be open to learning and you might be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.
- Sarah Ernat Class of 2022 (University of Illinois)

Our Lasallian mission fosters a community of service and provides many avenues for spiritual growth.

#be a servant

Service is one aspect of the Montini Catholic experience that sets us apart from other schools. Our Lasallian mission of education is rooted in the belief that we are servants of God. Through a four year theology curriculum, a four year retreat program (which includes Kairos Retreats), peer ministry activities, mission trips and an extensive community service program, we provide each student with a number of opportunities to grow spiritually and socially and to become difference makers.

Students grow as Christian leaders. They develop respect for themselves and for others, they become more aware of social issues and social injustices, they see the importance of helping others, and they realize that they truly have the ability to “Touch the Hearts” of others.
