Ian Moulds Cook it Clean Where are you based and when did you found Cook it Clean? Cook it Clean is based in Holsworthy. I have been cleaning ovens for six years and running my own business since 2018. What services does the company offer? We clean all makes and sizes of ovens from microwaves to AGAs, restoring them to ‘as new’ condition. We also carry replacement bulbs and liners which we can fit if required. What area do you cover & what hours do you work? We cover a large area of Devon and are available 7 days a week to fit around our customers’ requirements. We have a wide range of customers, the majority being private homeowners, but we also cover commercial ovens and holiday lets. Much of our business comes through recommendations and a large percentage is repeat business. How do you return appliances to ‘showroom’ condition? The cleaning process begins with an inspection of the oven and a chat with the customer to determine any specific concerns. Protective covers are placed
around the oven and then the oven is dismantled. All racks, trays, seals and covers are removed and placed in a vanmounted, heated dip-tank, where they soak in a biodegradable solution. The doors are removed and stripped so the glass can be cleaned inside and out. We then deep clean the internal oven. I’m afraid we don’t have any ‘magic potion’ that works in seconds, instead we use a mixture of scrubbing, scraping and old-fashioned elbow grease using only eco, pet-friendly, low odour products in your home. This process will vary depending on the style and condition of the oven but we continue until the oven is spotless. Racks and trays are removed from the dip-tank, and cleaned and rinsed. The oven then receives a final clean and polish, before being

reassembled and function checked ready for the customer. What are the benefits? The immediate benefits are visual - a sparkling oven! Customers then notice that any odours and contamination from cooking spillages and burnt on residues have disappeared - after all you wouldn’t eat from a dirty plate! The last benefit is that you don’t have to clean the oven yourself using toxic, messy, off-the-shelf products. What is the best thing about your job? I always get pleasure from seeing the result of a few hours of hard work and a satisfied customer.
