MARKET OVERVIEW – GLOBAL GENERAL AVIATION The Global general aviation market is back on the rise after the disastrous effects of the economic recession. Global shipments are up by 4.3% and revenues are blooming with a 24% growth rate compared to last year. The US leads the production with more than 70% of worldwide manufacturing. Gulfstream Aerospace has shown the highest growth with a 53.19% increase in shipments over the past year, followed by Bell Helicopter and Embraer. The United States is the highest exporter with 42.8% of the planes manufactured being exported.

DRIVERS The key driver is the increasing numbers of Nouveau Riche, their demand for uncompromising service and quality. This has created a need for prompt and personalized air travel, which can only be achieved by having a private business jet. This is a very exciting opportunity for the General Aviation providers as potential customers are not very price sensitive and business is won and lost only on quality. The development of dedicated infrastructure, particularly across regions like India and China, and a rise in the number of MRO service providers is a bright sign for the industry. ANALYST VIEW The effects of recession have been very hard on the industry with a lot of companies incurring heavy losses as the shipments dropped by around 60%. The market is on the rise again with increasing investments and it is being reflected in the shipments as they are reaching pre-recession levels. The market is led by Cessna and Gulfstream Aerospace with companies like Airbus and Embraer vying for more share of this growing market. North America will have the highest market share, but the European and Asia Pacific regions will grow rapidly in the next 5 years due to high investments being pumped into creating dedicated infrastructure.
