STUDENT PROFILES Sean Boone is the owner of NAEC LLC, a small company that has been in business for 10 years providing geotechnical inspection and testing services on construction projects. As owner of NAES LLC, Mr. Boone has participated on the project management teams of several high-profile construction projects including Hilton Baltimore Convention Center Hotel (HBCCH) and the Intercounty Connector (MD 200) Contracts A and B. As a student, he also participated in project management teams for the Nzema Solar Project in Ghana. He graduated in December 2015 and plans to use the knowledge and skills acquired in the program to increase the capabilities of the company. His goal also includes using the tools he has learned from this program to more effectively manage his company's projects and as a preparation for taking the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam.

Henry Monger is originally from Liberia, West Africa. He has an undergraduate degree in Accounting and decided to study Project Management because it will help him become a better planner and help him achieve his goals in an orderly manner. As a graduate of the MSPM program, he plans to use his knowledge and skills to establish his business. His knowledge and understanding of how to analyze and journalize business transactions and mixing it with the triple constraint will help his future efforts. To learn the interactions and combinations of the three most significant restrictions on any project: scope, schedule, and the cost will prepare him for the challenges of real-world projects. Henry graduated in December 2015.

Daniel Janak, a project manager, was a dual enrolled student at Eastern High School and Morgan State University and graduated from the Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. School of Engineering with a baccalaureate civil engineering degree when he was only 21 years old. He wanted to pursue a career in construction management; however, he realized to be successful in the business of construction management, he would need a masters degree in project management and without delay, applied for admission to the Morgan State University, Earl G Graves School of Business and Management. With Daniel's academic and work record, he was admitted and completed the Master's program in two years. Soon after he graduated and armed with a MS in project management and a BS in civil engineering, he immediately applied and was offered the position of "Assistant Project Manager" in the Department of Design and Construction Management at Morgan State University.

As a junior project manager, Mr. Janak manages multiple design and construction projects with funding under $1.0M. He also assists the Associate Vice President for Construction Management with projects that are valued over $1.0M. Today, Mr. Janak enjoys what he does while at the same time helping Morgan State University achieve its mission and strategic goals along with its core values. His next stop is to further his education and manage projects that are valued closer to the $100M range.

Reginald McFadden spent 13 years in the military, serving as a detachment supervisor for a Transportation unit. After the military, he earned his B.S. in Architecture and Environmental Design at Morgan State University. Reginald works for a small construction company where he is currently the foreman. His work experience helps him to navigate through the Project Management program by preparing him for the practical skills and guiding framework that is needed to be successful in the project management field. The program strongly emphasizes the people skills and real world practices required to effectively manage projects on time, on a budget, and within scope. He obtained his Master's degree in Project Management at the end of Fall 2015.

In 1999, Juanita Singletary Jones was recruited and hired as the Construction Contracts Manager at Morgan State University (MSU) Procurement Department. This position entails overseeing a (3) person unit that is responsible for managing and directing daily activities of construction/construction related and maintenance contracts. The department performs cradle to grave contract administration on construction, maintenance and service contracts.

Although she had been a Procurement Officer for over twenty (20) years, she recognizes that she can only benefit from being in a learning environment that provides an all-inclusive understanding of all aspects of project management principles and practice. She chose Morgan's MSPM program because the university allows for evening classes for the working professional, real time orientation by experienced faculty; and the convenience of leaving work and walking directly to class. This program allows her to become better at what she loves doing every day. The Project Management Program has allowed her to be able to develop project schedules, demonstrate an in depth knowledge of theories and practices, plan, organize, secure, and manage resources to achieve specific goals; thereby bringing added value to the project and university. After completing her Master's, she plans to pursue a Certificate of Advance Study in Project Management.

Mrs. Juanita Singletary Jones will complete her Master of Science degree in Project Management in Fall of 2016 at MSU.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q- What exams would I need to take to get admitted? (GMAT or GRE)?

A- No exam is required. However, M.S. in Project Management students must pass a Project Management Comprehensive Exam in their last semester.

Q- Is test of English language required?

A- Applicants from non-English speaking countries must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). TOEFL scores are not required for applicants from the British Commonwealth, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, West Indies, New Zealand, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania. Information about the TOEFL examination may be obtained from TOEFL, Educational Testing Service, Princeton, New Jersey 08540.

Q- My transcripts are issued by my university and have the official university seal. Are they accepted for admission to this graduate program?

A- International students must have transcripts from foreign institutions evaluated by an education credentialing service. Information about this service can be obtained by contacting Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc., P. O. Box 92920, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53202-0970 (414) 289 3400. Applications for Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. can be obtained by contacting the School of Graduate Studies at (443) 8853185.

Q - What is the program length (how many months or semesters)?

A- Most Master’s Program students graduate in four semesters (Minimum 30 credit hours). The Certificate program may be completed in two semesters (6+9 credit hours).

Q - Is there a “Thesis” required for this program?

A- There is no thesis requirement. Instead, all MSPM students must take PROJ 798 “Project Seminar” in their last semester of study.

Q- Are there any scholarships available for international students for this program and how does one qualify or apply A- The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) offers a limited number (very competitive) of scholarships. All applications for graduate funding are due to the School of Graduate Studies, for continuing students, as follows: Fall Semester, February 1st and Spring Semester, October 1st. No awards are made for the summer sessions.
