VM & DISPLAY AWARD NOMINEE

Last month Morplan attended the VM & Display awards in London. The VM & Display awards is dedicated to celebrating excellence and innovation in the retail visual merchandising and display sector. Morplan’s biodegradable mannequin was nominated for Best sustainable / Eco friendly product at the 2023 VM & Display awards. Traditionally mannequins are made using fibreglass and oil based both of which cannot degrade and as such cannot be recycled. These eco-friendly mannequins are made using a combination of sustainable and recyclable materials such as: Glucose Bio Resin, Raffia Paper, Rice Powder, and water-based paints.

Making Retail Exciting

Here at Morplan we are always continuing to make retail exciting and at our Birmingham store they are doing just that. Steve and the team have created a new bigger Frax pod with many more different elements which really enhance the product and would give any store an exciting modern look. Steve shows that simple changes like using maple accessory panels, with Slimline till counters can give the impression of an upmarket fashion shop. They also have a new Eco shop bringing together elements of Heritage and self-serve dispensers to really show Morplan’s environmental credentials to the retail industry.

Also on display is the illumine range which is a brand new LED range of wall and floor fixtures. Seeing this range in the flesh really shows the impact it can have in a store.

NEWS FROM SCOTLAND

Our Glasgow store is showcasing our environmentally friendly biodegradable mannequins. As mentioned on page 2, our mannequins were nominated in the 2023 VM & Display awards.

The store is also working on a brand new slatwall display due to be launched mid-April. It will showcase our complete slatwall range including our new colours and finishes and demonstrate all the slatwall accessories that are available too.

Biodegradable Mannequins

These mannequins include joints, a foot fitting and a calf fitting - all made from 65% recycled metal. They also include a stand made from 100% recycled glass and they are packaged in 100% recyclable boxes.

A normal mannequin can become toxic to the environment and take centuries to break down. However, the bio-resin, raffia paper and rice powder in these eco mannequins will start to break down within the first 12 months of being landfilled. The metal fittings can be broken away from the main body and fully recycled, alongside the recyclable glass stand and all packaging.
