THE FFA CREED
I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds–achievements won by present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us through the struggles of former years. I believe that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for these associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny. I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work effi ciently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil. I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to make it so—for others as well as myself; in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me. I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an infl uence in my home and community that will standsolid for my part in that inspiring task.

SENIOR BLAKE ENGEBRETSON
FFA has done many things for me in the past five years. At the start, I was the quiet kid who had no idea what was going on at any of the meetings and had no idea who anyone was. Through the course of being introduced to the senior officers and realizing how friendly and welcoming they all were, in ninth grade I

decided to go out of my comfort zone and apply to be a junior officer. I ended up being selected as the vice president of the junior officer team. This was just the start of me becoming a different person. After spending lots of time in the organization I took another step and applied for a senior officer position and was elected as vice president of the chapter. I think one of the other biggest influences on me was the first CDE I participated in which was novice parliamentary procedure. This

not only helped me understand what the officers were talking about at the beginning of each meeting, but even more so for some reason after learning all of the proper motions and procedures, it made me want to get out and talk and communicate with people. I love going around and striking up conversations with new people or people I already know. This is a brief view on what FFA has done for me.

I cannot imagine considering my future without an agricultural career. I have been involved in FFA for five years, and have had the privilege of serving as the Morris Area Chapter and Region III officer for two of those years. FFA has laid the firm foundation and ignited my passion for being the strong agricultural advocate that I am. FFA has defined who I am now and what I want to be a part of in my future. From my very first CDE-Creed Speaking-“I believe in the future of agriculture…” I could have never guessed the impact that my advisors Natasha Mortenson, Nick Milbrandt and Quincy Carter would make on my life. Positive leadership is really important to me, and words cannot express how thankful I am for their endless support and encouragement concerning my dreams and ambitions. I am grateful for their faithful
dedication, and I enjoy giving back to others as my advisors have modeled for me. FFA has provided an outlet for me to expand and polish my communication skills. The research and memorization required to excel in these CDE’s serves to strengthen my agricultural foundation. This, in turn, makes me more passionate about advocating and educating the public concerning agriculture. My major, Agricultural Education, Communication and Leadership embodies everything I have grown up loving and that I am currently pursuing. In addition, the strong emphasis that FFA puts on Leadership, Character and Service have been a constant reminder of the attributes that I am striving to embody. I am grateful for my strong roots in agriculture and the blessing of growing up on a family farm. The experiences that I have
had in FFA and the work ethic that I have developed will serve me well as I passionately pursue the next chapter of my life. Savannah Aanerud Chapter Secretary
SENIOR TEAGUE PICHT
Over the past five years FFA has made a huge impact on me as an individual. When I first joined in 8th grade it was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. Through FFA I have developed into a better person with the opportunities I have been provided, these include attending State Convention in the cities, National Convention in Louisville and Indianapolis, and multiple state leadership camps including State Greenhand Leadership Conference and State Leadership Conference for Chapter Leaders. Many Career Development Events have also contributed to my success being a better speaker and presenter. I have competed in soils, nursery and landscape, novice

parliamentary procedure, parliamentary pro, and agricultural issues. Competing in all these events and attending state leadership camps has allowed me to gain leadership skills, meet new people around the U.S. and taught me more about the FFA organization. Being provided many volunteer opportunities in FFA has showed me how to serve others and make even the smallest difference in our home and community. It has certainly been a great five years and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Teague Picht Chapter Treasurer

SENIOR BRIAR PETERSON
SENIOR JAKE ANDERSON
FFA has had a giant impact on me Region III officer was the scariest and the and impacted my future as well. I have most exciting moments in my life. became able to talk in front of people and not be afraid. FFA has helped me become Jake anderson a better leader and be able to lead other Morris Area FFA Parliamentarian people.I have met many new friends and new connections through FFA. On January 20th me and another officer were able to go to the cities and testify in front of a Senate committee about GMOs. We met the head of the committee at a FFA event called APEX. FFA has helped me in my future by making connections with farmers and business owners through state convention and as I am going to own a dairy farm one day. The CDE I have done for the last two years has helped my future because I need to know how to judge dairy cattle if I am going to buy cows. I have got a lot of great things and opportunities out of FFA in the past 5 years of being involved in FFA, from competing at regions, and state, to going to summer MORRIS camps every year and meeting new people and BEARING & SUPPLY learning many new things. 814 W. 5th St., Morris I would not trade one thing 320-589-1733 about FFA or what I did Briar Peterson Auto, Truck, 22815 540th Ave. Chapter President in FFA for anything in the Tractor Parts world. FFA made me who Alberta, MN Headquarters! I am. Being a chapter and
FFA has influenced my life tremendously, I was a shy little middle schooler who just wanted to be cool. In 9th grade I stepped outside my comfort zone and applied to be a Jr. Officer, I was selected as President. Being a Jr. Officer we competed in Novice Parliamentary Procedure. Being the president I was the captain of the team. This was my first leadership role in FFA. We got 3rd in State. The next year, with a new found confidence, I applied for Sr. Office, in 10th grade I was the reporter of our chapter. This was the year that I learned a lot and really stepped out of my comfort zone. In 11th grade I was selected as our chapter sentinel. I competed in Agricultural Sales and we won state. The moment we were told we took first in the state was probably my favorite moment in FFA. In the past year serving as President, I have learned so many more skills, had so many opportunities, and have made so many great friends. I encourage all to be in FFA, even if you don’t know anything about agriculture, join! In FFA opportunities are endless, these are just a few from a long list of mine.

In eighth grade I joined FFA because I thought it was the cool thing to do. I joined a competition made it to state. That state convention changed my perception of what FFA is. I can still remember that day in Mariucci Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota listening to the state officers share their passion of FFA. From that point on I wanted to be like them. FFA is an outstanding organization that will open many doors in a student’s future. I have had the honor to talk at our veteran’s day program, testify to state senators, and compete at national convention. These are just a few of the opportunities that I have had. FFA has taught me skills that I wouldn’t be able to learn anywhere else.

Fruit Sales was another year of success The Morris Area FFA Chapter had their annual fruit sales back in December. The morning of unloading went by quickly with the help of FFA members, Westmore, and Riverview LLP workers! The Morris FFA Chapter is so thankful for the families and friends who helped make this a success! Practicing CDE’s The Morris FFA Chapter have many CDE’s, or Career Development Events, coming up in the next few weeks. All members take time in preparing for their region and state competitions.
