Union Minister for Railways, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, today assured the people of Nagaland that the Dhansiri-Zubza Broad Gauge (BG) railway line would be completed by 2019, a year ahead of the scheduled target.

Laying the foundation stone of the 90.5km BG line connecting Dhansiri-Zubza here at Dimapur Railway Station, the Railway Minister said the NDA Government led by Prime Minister, as per the ‘Act East policy’ is committed to transforming the North East Region into one of the most developed regions in the country, in terms of economy as well as connectivity.

Towards this end, Prabhu said the NDA government has given directives that all pending and ongoing projects in the NE Region should be completed ahead of the scheduled time so that the Region can catch up with the rest of the country.

Mizoram sounds JE alert, bans import of chicken from Manipur aIzawl, august 1 (agENcIEs): Following the reported outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in neighbouring Manipur which claimed two lives in the state, the Mizoram health department has issued an order banning import of domestic animals like cattle, chicken, pigs and buffaloes from Manipur’s Churanchandpur district. Hospital and medical education director Dr K Lalbiakzuala said hospitals across the state have been alerted though no case of Japanese encephalitis has been detected so far in Mizoram. Hospitals have been instructed to report any suspected case of acute encephalitis syndrome and submit a report to the state health department.

Screening will be conducted in such cases on an emergency basis, Lalbiakzuala said. He added that though no JE cases have been reported in the state so far, the presence of culex mosquito across the state could trigger an endemic situation.

Bad roads killed over 10k people in 2015

3,416 deaths were due to potholes NEw DElhI, august 1 (agENcIEs): Last year, 10,727 people were killed in crashes caused by potholes, speed breakers and roads that were under repair or being constructed. Although the overall fatalities under these categories had come down marginally from 2014, the number of people killed due to potholes rose to 3,416, from 3,039 in the previous year.

Deaths caused by potholes saw a massive seven-fold increase in Maharashtra in 2015, according to the surface transport ministry’s road accidents report. A rise in such fatalities indicates failure of road-owning agencies to maintain stretches.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh, known for its bad roads, reported an almost 50% reduction in pothole deaths as compared with 2014. In Delhi, where a man died after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole on Saturday, showed only two pothole deaths in 2015.

According to data compiled by the road transport ministry, 10,876 accidents were reported last year due to potholes across the country.

“The number could be higher as we don’t have a robust and scientific mechanism for collecting data.

Many accidents go unreported and there is no detailed investigation into causes of road deaths in our country,” said Ashish Kumar, former chief of the transport research wing.

Top road engineers working with government departments said until the drainage system in cities and towns was improved, roads would keep developing potholes.

“Every city and town has a multiplicity of authorities and in most cases, both the sewerage and storm water drainage system are inadequate and inefficient. Any amount of repair won’t work if you have stagnant water and overloaded vehicles plying on such stretches,” a state public works department official said.

To make road owning agencies and traffic police accountable for failure on their part, the road transport ministry has finalised the Rules of Road Regulation, which spells out the responsibility. It specially mentions that if someone dies due to negligence of a road agency, the agency would be held responsible.

It says “willful negligence/dereliction of duty on part of road owning and maintenance agencies” shall be considered an offence.

Mizoram sounds JE alert, bans import of chicken from Manipur aIzawl, august 1 (agENcIEs): Following the reported outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in neighbouring Manipur which claimed two lives in the state, the Mizoram health department has issued an order banning import of domestic animals like cattle, chicken, pigs and buffaloes from Manipur’s Churanchandpur district. Hospital and medical education director Dr K Lalbiakzuala said hospitals across the state have been alerted though no case of Japanese encephalitis has been detected so far in Mizoram. Hospitals have been instructed to report any suspected case of acute encephalitis syndrome and submit a report to the state health department.

Screening will be conducted in such cases on an emergency basis, Lalbiakzuala said. He added that though no JE cases have been reported in the state so far, the presence of culex mosquito across the state could trigger an endemic situation.

Bad roads killed over 10k people in 2015

3,416 deaths were due to potholes NEw DElhI, august 1 (agENcIEs): Last year, 10,727 people were killed in crashes caused by potholes, speed breakers and roads that were under repair or being constructed. Although the overall fatalities under these categories had come down marginally from 2014, the number of people killed due to potholes rose to 3,416, from 3,039 in the previous year.

Deaths caused by potholes saw a massive seven-fold increase in Maharashtra in 2015, according to the surface transport ministry’s road accidents report. A rise in such fatalities indicates failure of road-owning agencies to maintain stretches.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh, known for its bad roads, reported an almost 50% reduction in pothole deaths as compared with 2014. In Delhi, where a man died after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole on Saturday, showed only two pothole deaths in 2015.

According to data compiled by the road transport ministry, 10,876 accidents were reported last year due to potholes across the country.

“The number could be higher as we don’t have a robust and scientific mechanism for collecting data.

Many accidents go unreported and there is no detailed investigation into causes of road deaths in our country,” said Ashish Kumar, former chief of the transport research wing.

Top road engineers working with government departments said until the drainage system in cities and towns was improved, roads would keep developing potholes.

“Every city and town has a multiplicity of authorities and in most cases, both the sewerage and storm water drainage system are inadequate and inefficient. Any amount of repair won’t work if you have stagnant water and overloaded vehicles plying on such stretches,” a state public works department official said.

To make road owning agencies and traffic police accountable for failure on their part, the road transport ministry has finalised the Rules of Road Regulation, which spells out the responsibility. It specially mentions that if someone dies due to negligence of a road agency, the agency would be held responsible.

It says “willful negligence/dereliction of duty on part of road owning and maintenance agencies” shall be considered an offence.

Hospital and medical education director Dr K Lalbiakzuala said hospitals across the state have been alerted though no case of Japanese encephalitis has been detected so far in Mizoram. Hospitals have been instructed to report any suspected case of acute encephalitis syndrome and submit a report to the state health department.

Screening will be conducted in such cases on an emergency basis, Lalbiakzuala said. He added that though no JE cases have been reported in the state so far, the presence of culex mosquito across the state could trigger an endemic situation.

3,416 deaths were due to potholes NEw DElhI, august 1 (agENcIEs): Last year, 10,727 people were killed in crashes caused by potholes, speed breakers and roads that were under repair or being constructed. Although the overall fatalities under these categories had come down marginally from 2014, the number of people killed due to potholes rose to 3,416, from 3,039 in the previous year.

Deaths caused by potholes saw a massive seven-fold increase in Maharashtra in 2015, according to the surface transport ministry’s road accidents report. A rise in such fatalities indicates failure of road-owning agencies to maintain stretches.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh, known for its bad roads, reported an almost 50% reduction in pothole deaths as compared with 2014. In Delhi, where a man died after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole on Saturday, showed only two pothole deaths in 2015.

According to data compiled by the road transport ministry, 10,876 accidents were reported last year due to potholes across the country.

“The number could be higher as we don’t have a robust and scientific mechanism for collecting data.

Many accidents go unreported and there is no detailed investigation into causes of road deaths in our country,” said Ashish Kumar, former chief of the transport research wing.

Top road engineers working with government departments said until the drainage system in cities and towns was improved, roads would keep developing potholes.

“Every city and town has a multiplicity of authorities and in most cases, both the sewerage and storm water drainage system are inadequate and inefficient. Any amount of repair won’t work if you have stagnant water and overloaded vehicles plying on such stretches,” a state public works department official said.

To make road owning agencies and traffic police accountable for failure on their part, the road transport ministry has finalised the Rules of Road Regulation, which spells out the responsibility. It specially mentions that if someone dies due to negligence of a road agency, the agency would be held responsible.

It says “willful negligence/dereliction of duty on part of road owning and maintenance agencies” shall be considered an offence.

aIzawl, august 1 (agENcIEs): Following the reported outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in neighbouring Manipur which claimed two lives in the state, the Mizoram health department has issued an order banning import of domestic animals like cattle, chicken, pigs and buffaloes from Manipur’s Churanchandpur district. Hospital and medical education director Dr K Lalbiakzuala said hospitals across the state have been alerted though no case of Japanese encephalitis has been detected so far in Mizoram. Hospitals have been instructed to report any suspected case of acute encephalitis syndrome and submit a report to the state health department.

Screening will be conducted in such cases on an emergency basis, Lalbiakzuala said. He added that though no JE cases have been reported in the state so far, the presence of culex mosquito across the state could trigger an endemic situation.

Bad roads killed over 10k people in 2015

3,416 deaths were due to potholes NEw DElhI, august 1 (agENcIEs): Last year, 10,727 people were killed in crashes caused by potholes, speed breakers and roads that were under repair or being constructed. Although the overall fatalities under these categories had come down marginally from 2014, the number of people killed due to potholes rose to 3,416, from 3,039 in the previous year.

Deaths caused by potholes saw a massive seven-fold increase in Maharashtra in 2015, according to the surface transport ministry’s road accidents report. A rise in such fatalities indicates failure of road-owning agencies to maintain stretches.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh, known for its bad roads, reported an almost 50% reduction in pothole deaths as compared with 2014. In Delhi, where a man died after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole on Saturday, showed only two pothole deaths in 2015.

According to data compiled by the road transport ministry, 10,876 accidents were reported last year due to potholes across the country.

“The number could be higher as we don’t have a robust and scientific mechanism for collecting data.

Many accidents go unreported and there is no detailed investigation into causes of road deaths in our country,” said Ashish Kumar, former chief of the transport research wing.

Top road engineers working with government departments said until the drainage system in cities and towns was improved, roads would keep developing potholes.

“Every city and town has a multiplicity of authorities and in most cases, both the sewerage and storm water drainage system are inadequate and inefficient. Any amount of repair won’t work if you have stagnant water and overloaded vehicles plying on such stretches,” a state public works department official said.

To make road owning agencies and traffic police accountable for failure on their part, the road transport ministry has finalised the Rules of Road Regulation, which spells out the responsibility. It specially mentions that if someone dies due to negligence of a road agency, the agency would be held responsible.

It says “willful negligence/dereliction of duty on part of road owning and maintenance agencies” shall be considered an offence.

aIzawl, august 1 (agENcIEs): Following the reported outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in neighbouring Manipur which claimed two lives in the state, the Mizoram health department has issued an order banning import of domestic animals like cattle, chicken, pigs and buffaloes from Manipur’s Churanchandpur district. Hospital and medical education director Dr K Lalbiakzuala said hospitals across the state have been alerted though no case of Japanese encephalitis has been detected so far in Mizoram. Hospitals have been instructed to report any suspected case of acute encephalitis syndrome and submit a report to the state health department.

Screening will be conducted in such cases on an emergency basis, Lalbiakzuala said. He added that though no JE cases have been reported in the state so far, the presence of culex mosquito across the state could trigger an endemic situation.

3,416 deaths were due to potholes NEw DElhI, august 1 (agENcIEs): Last year, 10,727 people were killed in crashes caused by potholes, speed breakers and roads that were under repair or being constructed. Although the overall fatalities under these categories had come down marginally from 2014, the number of people killed due to potholes rose to 3,416, from 3,039 in the previous year.

Deaths caused by potholes saw a massive seven-fold increase in Maharashtra in 2015, according to the surface transport ministry’s road accidents report. A rise in such fatalities indicates failure of road-owning agencies to maintain stretches.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh, known for its bad roads, reported an almost 50% reduction in pothole deaths as compared with 2014. In Delhi, where a man died after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole on Saturday, showed only two pothole deaths in 2015.

According to data compiled by the road transport ministry, 10,876 accidents were reported last year due to potholes across the country.

“The number could be higher as we don’t have a robust and scientific mechanism for collecting data.

Many accidents go unreported and there is no detailed investigation into causes of road deaths in our country,” said Ashish Kumar, former chief of the transport research wing.

Top road engineers working with government departments said until the drainage system in cities and towns was improved, roads would keep developing potholes.

“Every city and town has a multiplicity of authorities and in most cases, both the sewerage and storm water drainage system are inadequate and inefficient. Any amount of repair won’t work if you have stagnant water and overloaded vehicles plying on such stretches,” a state public works department official said.

To make road owning agencies and traffic police accountable for failure on their part, the road transport ministry has finalised the Rules of Road Regulation, which spells out the responsibility. It specially mentions that if someone dies due to negligence of a road agency, the agency would be held responsible.

It says “willful negligence/dereliction of duty on part of road owning and maintenance agencies” shall be considered an offence.

aIzawl, august 1 (agENcIEs): Following the reported outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in neighbouring Manipur which claimed two lives in the state, the Mizoram health department has issued an order banning import of domestic animals like cattle, chicken, pigs and buffaloes from Manipur’s Churanchandpur district. Hospital and medical education director Dr K Lalbiakzuala said hospitals across the state have been alerted though no case of Japanese encephalitis has been detected so far in Mizoram. Hospitals have been instructed to report any suspected case of acute encephalitis syndrome and submit a report to the state health department.

Screening will be conducted in such cases on an emergency basis, Lalbiakzuala said. He added that though no JE cases have been reported in the state so far, the presence of culex mosquito across the state could trigger an endemic situation.

Bad roads killed over 10k people in 2015

3,416 deaths were due to potholes NEw DElhI, august 1 (agENcIEs): Last year, 10,727 people were killed in crashes caused by potholes, speed breakers and roads that were under repair or being constructed. Although the overall fatalities under these categories had come down marginally from 2014, the number of people killed due to potholes rose to 3,416, from 3,039 in the previous year.

Deaths caused by potholes saw a massive seven-fold increase in Maharashtra in 2015, according to the surface transport ministry’s road accidents report. A rise in such fatalities indicates failure of road-owning agencies to maintain stretches.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh, known for its bad roads, reported an almost 50% reduction in pothole deaths as compared with 2014. In Delhi, where a man died after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole on Saturday, showed only two pothole deaths in 2015.

According to data compiled by the road transport ministry, 10,876 accidents were reported last year due to potholes across the country.

“The number could be higher as we don’t have a robust and scientific mechanism for collecting data.

Many accidents go unreported and there is no detailed investigation into causes of road deaths in our country,” said Ashish Kumar, former chief of the transport research wing.

Top road engineers working with government departments said until the drainage system in cities and towns was improved, roads would keep developing potholes.

“Every city and town has a multiplicity of authorities and in most cases, both the sewerage and storm water drainage system are inadequate and inefficient. Any amount of repair won’t work if you have stagnant water and overloaded vehicles plying on such stretches,” a state public works department official said.

To make road owning agencies and traffic police accountable for failure on their part, the road transport ministry has finalised the Rules of Road Regulation, which spells out the responsibility. It specially mentions that if someone dies due to negligence of a road agency, the agency would be held responsible.

It says “willful negligence/dereliction of duty on part of road owning and maintenance agencies” shall be considered an offence.

Deaths caused by potholes saw a massive seven-fold increase in Maharashtra in 2015, according to the surface transport ministry’s road accidents report. A rise in such fatalities indicates failure of road-owning agencies to maintain stretches.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh, known for its bad roads, reported an almost 50% reduction in pothole deaths as compared with 2014. In Delhi, where a man died after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole on Saturday, showed only two pothole deaths in 2015.

According to data compiled by the road transport ministry, 10,876 accidents were reported last year due to potholes across the country.

“The number could be higher as we don’t have a robust and scientific mechanism for collecting data.

Many accidents go unreported and there is no detailed investigation into causes of road deaths in our country,” said Ashish Kumar, former chief of the transport research wing.

Top road engineers working with government departments said until the drainage system in cities and towns was improved, roads would keep developing potholes.

“Every city and town has a multiplicity of authorities and in most cases, both the sewerage and storm water drainage system are inadequate and inefficient. Any amount of repair won’t work if you have stagnant water and overloaded vehicles plying on such stretches,” a state public works department official said.

To make road owning agencies and traffic police accountable for failure on their part, the road transport ministry has finalised the Rules of Road Regulation, which spells out the responsibility. It specially mentions that if someone dies due to negligence of a road agency, the agency would be held responsible.

It says “willful negligence/dereliction of duty on part of road owning and maintenance agencies” shall be considered an offence.

aIzawl, august 1 (agENcIEs): Following the reported outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in neighbouring Manipur which claimed two lives in the state, the Mizoram health department has issued an order banning import of domestic animals like cattle, chicken, pigs and buffaloes from Manipur’s Churanchandpur district. Hospital and medical education director Dr K Lalbiakzuala said hospitals across the state have been alerted though no case of Japanese encephalitis has been detected so far in Mizoram. Hospitals have been instructed to report any suspected case of acute encephalitis syndrome and submit a report to the state health department.

Screening will be conducted in such cases on an emergency basis, Lalbiakzuala said. He added that though no JE cases have been reported in the state so far, the presence of culex mosquito across the state could trigger an endemic situation.

Mizoram sounds JE alert, bans import of chicken from Manipur

aIzawl, august 1 (agENcIEs): Following the reported outbreak of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in neighbouring Manipur which claimed two lives in the state, the Mizoram health department has issued an order banning import of domestic animals like cattle, chicken, pigs and buffaloes from Manipur’s Churanchandpur district. Hospital and medical education director Dr K Lalbiakzuala said hospitals across the state have been alerted though no case of Japanese encephalitis has been detected so far in Mizoram. Hospitals have been instructed to report any suspected case of acute encephalitis syndrome and submit a report to the state health department.

Screening will be conducted in such cases on an emergency basis, Lalbiakzuala said. He added that though no JE cases have been reported in the state so far, the presence of culex mosquito across the state could trigger an endemic situation.

Bad roads killed over 10k people in 2015

3,416 deaths were due to potholes NEw DElhI, august 1 (agENcIEs): Last year, 10,727 people were killed in crashes caused by potholes, speed breakers and roads that were under repair or being constructed. Although the overall fatalities under these categories had come down marginally from 2014, the number of people killed due to potholes rose to 3,416, from 3,039 in the previous year.

Deaths caused by potholes saw a massive seven-fold increase in Maharashtra in 2015, according to the surface transport ministry’s road accidents report. A rise in such fatalities indicates failure of road-owning agencies to maintain stretches.

Interestingly, Uttar Pradesh, known for its bad roads, reported an almost 50% reduction in pothole deaths as compared with 2014. In Delhi, where a man died after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole on Saturday, showed only two pothole deaths in 2015.

According to data compiled by the road transport ministry, 10,876 accidents were reported last year due to potholes across the country.

“The number could be higher as we don’t have a robust and scientific mechanism for collecting data.

Many accidents go unreported and there is no detailed investigation into causes of road deaths in our country,” said Ashish Kumar, former chief of the transport research wing.

Top road engineers working with government departments said until the drainage system in cities and towns was improved, roads would keep developing potholes.

“Every city and town has a multiplicity of authorities and in most cases, both the sewerage and storm water drainage system are inadequate and inefficient. Any amount of repair won’t work if you have stagnant water and overloaded vehicles plying on such stretches,” a state public works department official said.

To make road owning agencies and traffic police accountable for failure on their part, the road transport ministry has finalised the Rules of Road Regulation, which spells out the responsibility. It specially mentions that if someone dies due to negligence of a road agency, the agency would be held responsible.

It says “willful negligence/dereliction of duty on part of road owning and maintenance agencies” shall be considered an offence.

In KOAH, each day, the members have time for work, thanksgiving prayer, recreation, devotional service and others. Since most of the members are from agricultural background, they are all hard working and skilled in gardening, bamboo craft work etc.
