Governor urges media to maintain ‘high standards’
C M Y K
KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 15 (MExN): Nagaland state Governor, PB Acharya today called upon the press fraternity to strive towards maintaining high standards while reporting. Extending greetings to the press fraternity in Nagaland on the occasion of National Press Day, which falls on November 16, the Nagaland Governor urged that there “should be a mechanism for maintaining the standard of newspaper reporting and thereby ensuring that all the guidelines are adhered to by the reporters.” A press note from the Raj Bhavan, Kohima urged for constant review of the quality of reporting and improvement in the guidelines. “This may be followed by the media organizations all over the country to continuously improve the quality and maintain the consistency of news reporting,” it added. The Governor said that “among the four pillars of Democracy, Media has greater potential and power to create a better world and a better future.” “The role of the press in nurturing awareness of fundamental duties among citizens, in preserving rich composite heritage and tradition of the country and in promoting democracy and in arousing popular conscience to promote peace, harmony and brotherhood transcending barriers of caste, religion and sectional interests are commendable,” he added.
NE people not second class citizens: Sangma
SHIllONg, NOVEMBER 15 (IANS): Northeastern people are not “second class citizens” of India, former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno.A.Sangma said here Saturday. “We are no less than others. How are we second class citizens? We are first class citizens. Many people from the region like M.C. Mary Kom and others are shining. You can shine too,” the veteran parliamentarian from India’s north-eastern state of Meghalaya told IANS. However, Sangma lamented the frequent atrocities committed on the people of the region residing in the Indian metro-
politan cities. “Today, you hear many atrocities on the people of the north-east living in other parts of India. There are many reasons (for this), but one of the reasons is that our boys and girls have been able to successfully compete and are today occupying so much of employment,” he said. Urging the youth to “compete” and pursue “quality education” to “change” India, Sangma said that most students from the north-east do not pursue “quality education” as they are satisfied with “education” only, everything being “readymade”.
“We the tribal people in the north-east go for education, not for quality education perhaps because we get everything readymade. Admissions, scholarships, higher studies, jobs are all ensured. So quality education is not required,” he added. “The future is going to be different. Our people should learn to compete. The jobs in the reserved areas in the government sector are drastically shrinking, but jobs where there is no reservation (in the private sector) are tremendously growing. Can we, as tribals, compete to meet the challenges? Yes, very much,” Sangma said.
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 15 (MExN): Demanding the early release of pending salaries for aggrieved Hindi teachers in Nagaland state without any further delay, the All Nagaland School Teachers Association today cautioned that it “may be compelled to confront the concerned authority in the form of total closure of all government schools across the state.” A press note from the ANSTA stated that “when the basic necessity of teachers is not meet, the question of survival of so called nation builders does not arise…” The association expressed concern at the lack of a “concrete solution” regarding regular release of payment for teachers appointed under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) in Nagaland state and lamented that there has been no improvement in the system and that the “problem remains the same.” The ANSTA informed that as per the requirement of the state government, “a good number” of teachers have been appointed under the CSS. For example, it stated that 2730 teachers have been appointed under the Inclusive Education for Disabled at Secondary Stage (IEDSS) and 1379 Hindi teachers under the said schemes so far. However, it lamented that due to irregular payment of salary, agitations and picketing of offices have cropped up frequently. To stop this, the association
orgs demand judicious restructuring of school education department
T
he Nagaland School Education Administrative Officers Association (NSEAOA), Nagaland Secondary School Field Officers Forum (NSSFOF) and the All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) have demanded for “justice and equality” with regard to the structure of the School Education department in Nagaland state. In a representation to the Nagaland state Chief Minister, the organizations informed that the Parliamentary Secretary for School Education had “promised” to review the structure of the department. However, it termed the Parliamentary Secretary’s proposal to this end as “irrelevant” and “not meeting the present requirements of the department.” It further informed that the organizations had met the Parliamentary Secretary on “several” occasions but “failed to persuade him.” While accepting his proposal to appoint three directors for the department, the representation, appended by NSEAOA Vice President, R Ekonthung Lotha; NSSFOF Convener, Mezhu U Hozoyeh and ANSTA President, Ponchulo Wanth, however lamented that the proposal “is not in the expected line.” The organizations had expected that one director be appointed for elementaurged the Nagaland state government to take up the issue on a priority basis. “Salary is the only sustaining source of teachers for which if it is not paid on time, then the very survival of teachers is threatened/ jeopardized, which will be counter-productive in the teaching learning process,” stated the ANSTA. While keeping in view the funding pattern of the MHRD/Central Government (which releases funds on installment basis), the ANSTA appealed for the Nagaland state government to “pay the salary
ry education (961 Government Middle Schools plus 2045 Government Primary Schools), another for secondary education (252 Government High Schools) and the third for higher secondary education (though having only 41 schools). However, it informed that the Parliamentary Secretary has proposed appointing only one director for elementary to secondary education (having 3258 schools (GPA, GMS and GHS) and over 20000 teachers), another for 41 higher secondary schools, having hardly 500 employees and the third for Hindi, language cell and physical education along with the planning section, which it stated in “a part and parcel of school education by itself.” While proposing a separate director for 41 higher secondary schools, the representation stated that “it is not justified” to propose only one director for 3258 schools consisting of GPS, GMS and GHS. It termed this proposal as “an act of discrimination” and called for the appointment of separate directors for elementary, secondary and higher secondary education. The representation further demanded that post distribution should be on the basis of the number of schools and the number of employees in each section.
of the concerned teachers from the state fund/ resource during non-release of fund from the funding agency (which may be recovered later as and when the centre releases its share).” It further urged the state government to “deposit its matching share of 10% on time, without which the centre will not release its 90% share.” While asserting that due priority be accorded to salary requirements of the teachers by not diverting it under any circumstances, it also urged that the salary component and allowances of teachers
should be used judiciously for that purpose alone. The ANSTA also questioned the “credibility” of the appointing authority and questioned: “if it is not in a position to pay the salary of teachers, why have they been appointed to suffer for months together, which is beyond human tolerance.” This “inability of the appointing authority in paying regular salary,” the association cautioned, would compel the aggrieved teachers to resort to “No Pay - No Work,” which in turn may cripple the function of government schools.
Professionalism & dedication Nagaland 2nd highest tobacco user in India imperative in police: Patton Chizokho Vero
Kohima | November 15
Morung Express News Dimapur | November 15
“The Government expects high degree of professionalism and dedication from the police (at the same time) the government is just as concerned for the welfare of the police,” stated Nagaland Home Minister Y Patton, while addressing the 38th general conference of the Nagaland Police Service Association (NPSA). Patton was attending the conference as the chief guest held at the Rhododendron Hall, NAPTC, Chumukedima on November 15. “I also urge upon all of you not to forget the welfare of the men and women serving under you,” he added. Chief Secretary of the Nagaland Government, Toshi Aier was the guest of honour. Acknowledging the government’s inability to meet all the requirements of the State police force, Patton said that the Nagaland government is conscious of the importance of upgrading communication networks and other police infrastructure, including police stations. While describing the Nagaland Police Service (NPS) as the “backbone of the State police force”, Patton expressed confidence that the NPS cadres would live up to the reputation; at the same time, uphold the trust bestowed on it by the Police higher-ups and the government. “Many senior police officers today have their roots in the NPS,” Patton said, while adding that several key posts are held by NPS cadres today. In the age of information technology with crime becoming more complicated, Patton said, “It is essential that we keep abreast of the impending complexity and be prepared.”
Has the Nagaland Police lived upto expectation?
O
fficiating Director General of Police, Lungriading called for introspection while pointing out certain irregularities and shortcomings of the Nagaland Police. Glamour for easy-going postings, tendency of some officers to absent from work for extended periods, tendency to ignore rules and lack of investigation skills were some of the shortcomings pointed out. According to the officiating DGP, there are even policemen with physical shortcomings. Maintaining that the Nagaland Police Service is the primary feature of the State police, Lungriading called for introspection, while stating, “Let us ponder whether we’ve lived up to the Nagaland Police’s ‘Security, Service, Sacrifice’ motto.” According to him, the NPS is better off than other State Police Services. He said that no other state has officers from the State Police Service holding key posts. The officiating DGP revealed that the department incurs an excess expenditure of Rs. 3 crores a month. Excess appointments was the primary cause behind the additional spending, Lungriading said. While calling for stricter re-
cruitment mechanism, he said that today the Nagaland Police has three classes of employees – policemen who undergo training for the mandatory nine months, those that undergo training for six months and some who do not undergo training for years after recruitment. “It is very sad, it cannot be. We are in the uniformed service,” Lungriading said. Further, as a force tasked with investigation, he said it is imperative that investigation skills are enhanced. With regard to the lack of investigation skills among investigating officers, Lungriading said that the Police Training School has been instructed to conduct refresher courses for investigating officers. Later, the Home Minister, Y. Patton, in his address, disclosed that the department has over a thousand in excess appointments. According to Patton, there are 1423 excess appointments. Stating that the government is serious about the matter, Patton said that it will investigate and find out under whose tenure the excess appointments were made. He further cautioned against indulging in such malpractice.
With Nagaland state ranking second highest in the consumption of tobacco, Dr N Savino, Additional Director for Health & Family Welfare today called for the effective implementation of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COPTA) 2003 in the state. He said this while addressing the sensitization programme for managers of hotels and restaurants on hazards and burdens of tobacco in Kohima today. The programme was organized by the Kohima District Tobacco Control Cell (NTCP), Department of Health & Family Welfare. Dr Savino called upon hotels and restaurants to comply with the COTPA 2003 and urged owners of such establishments to display ‘No Smoking Area’ signboards in their respective establishments at the earliest. It is mandatory to display ‘No Smoking Area’ signboards otherwise you will be penalized, he cautioned. He called for the setting up of such signs before the Hornbill festival starts in December. He further informed that items like ashtrays, matches, lighters or other things designed to facilitate smoking should not be provided in public places. Dr Savino also informed that the department, in line with the Ministry of Health
& Family Welfare, has already issued circulars to all government offices in Nagaland to display ‘No Smoking Area’ signboards within office premises. However, he lamented that many departments yet to comply with the directive. The Directorate of Information & Public Relations was the first department in Nagaland to comply with

In a memorandum, Tripura's Congress MLA and former PCC Gopal Chandra Roy said that among the 29 states of the country, Tripura government is the only state which has not given central pay scale and DA as par with Centre to its employees and pensioners. "The pay, allowances drawn by serving employees and pension by retired employees in Tripura are the lowest in the country," he said in the memorandum submitted to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Roy alleged the "misrule and mischievous" policies of the Tripura's Left Front government have brought the states's 1.70 lakh employees and officers to the brink of disaster in terms of extremely poor pay. "I earnestly appeal to you, on behalf of the deprived and exploited employees, officers and pensioners of Tripura, to take appropriate decision and save them from sliding to the margins of human existence," Roy said.

One-horned rhino killed in Assam
guWaHaTi, November 15 (iaNS): Poachers killed a one-horned rhino in Assam's Pobitora wildlife sanctuary which opened for the public barely two weeks ago. The carcass of a female rhino was recovered during routine patrolling Saturday, said park officials. The body bore bullet marks and its horn was missing, indicating that it was a case of poaching. "A patrolling party spotted the carcass today (Saturday) morning on the southern side of the sanctuary. We believe that the poachers killed the ani-
mal last night," said a senior official of the park. Spread over 38.80 square km, Pobitora wildlife sanctuary has close to 100 rhinos according to a census in 2012. It was only on Nov 2 this year that Assam Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain opened the park for tourists for this year's tourist season. The park will remain open till end of April after which it will be closed for tourists due to the onset of the monsoon season. Located about 40 km from Guwahati, the sanctuary draws more tourists due
to its proximity to Guwahati and its thriving rhino population. While two rhinos have been killed in Pobitora wildlife sanctuary, at least 23 one-horned rhinos have been killed in Kaziranga National Park this year. The highest number of poaching cases in Assam was recorded last year, when 41 rhinos were killed by poachers. Of these 27 were killed in Kaziranga, five in Manas national park, three in Orang national park, two in Pobitora wildlife sanctuary and four in other areas.
India’s North east: Missing link Promises of closer ties over the border to Myanmar are a long way from reality
violence and arrest, are less visibly deployed these days across much of the state. But Manipur residents still complain that other armed bullies, ethnic rebel groups and state-backed militias known as “village defence forces” harass them. Bitter divisions persist between three ethnic groups: Meiteis in Manipur’s main valley, and Nagas and Kukis in the hills. Opening up to trade could help boost the economy and help stability. India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, in Myanmar this week, is keen on building new infrastructure to speed the flow of goods. A tidy border town with Myanmar, Moreh, has been designated as a transport hub. A UN-backed effort to connect rail-freight networks in Asia, the Trans-Asian Rail-

NAGALAND
52nd anniversary of Walong battle commemorated
impHaL, November 15 (THe eCoNomiST): FOR the past quarter of a century Indian policymakers have talked of a “Look East” policy. This involves boosting trade, investment and incomes in the landlocked north-east by engaging with nearby countries. The state of Manipur, on the border with Myanmar, hopes to be India’s gateway to South-East Asia. Residents of Imphal, its capital, say that old ethnic and cultural ties mean many in Manipur feel closer to their neighbours across the border than to distant and often hostile “mainland” Indians. The state needs a lift. Old security problems have improved a bit, especially since Myanmar and India began co-operating against rebels from each side who were seeking sanctuary on the other. India’s Assam Rifles, a paramilitary force with sweeping powers and a reputation for arbitrary

way, is to pass through the town on its way to Mandalay in Myanmar, nearly 500 kilometres (300 miles) to the south-east. An economics professor in the state capital says Imphal will, within five years, see a “giant leap” as new train, road, air and internet links arrive. For starters, the state badly needs a better road to Myanmar. Driving the 100km from Imphal to Moreh takes five hours as the highway ascends from the rice paddies of the Imphal valley and twists spectacularly through the lush Chandel hills. The road is much as it was in 1942, when it was hastily built by the British, then the rulers of India and Myanmar, to help its soldiers flee advancing Japanese troops. Near the border with Myanmar it crosses a hand-
some, single-lane wooden bridge. The structure was intended by the British to be merely temporary. Worse, all traffic must navigate five official checkpoints manned by the Assam Rifles. Other barriers erected by village militias exist, it appears, merely to extort bribes. Few lorries ply the narrow road. Official border trade has more than doubled in recent years, but it remains sluggish. In Moreh a new “Traders’ Facility Centre” shows little sign of use. Indian rules permit only 40 items to enter nearly duty-free, among them reed brooms and betel nuts. Informal trade looks brisker. Imphal’s market brims with cheap Chinese stuff, much of it smuggled through Myanmar. A resident complains that India’s north-east
is now a “dumping ground” for cheap Chinese goods— but people seem to want them. Hotels have been built close to private hospitals to cater to medical tourists from over the border. Moreh has a history as a meeting-place for the farflung: Hindu and Jain temples stand near a mosque, a church, a Sikh gurdwara and even a synagogue of the Bnei Menashe, an ethnic group from the region that claims to be a lost tribe of Israel. But locals dominate the state’s trade today. That suits some businessmen who say only the Chinese would profit from a more open border. Banks lend only to the politically connected, they grumble, so Manipuris would lack credit to expand and compete with outsiders. Suspicion is understandable after a long history of isolation, conflict and misrule. But Manipur must summon up the courage to open its doors.

ou were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitudes of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to believe God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24) God's command to be holy are shown with examples and the wiser ones gains more understanding from what they see. Our teachings on holiness are not based on our own holiness, for by nature we were objects of wrath but by His holiness we teach of what we learned from God. While we were sinners, we were defiled as our sins were but when we became

new creations, the old nature of sin was crucified on the cross with Christ. Every lewdness of our past also reminds us of the wrath which would have befallen us if we had continued in it. If we were to number our sins, we will not be able to and to this takes us back to the very cross of Christ. What defense will we have if we are to eventually sin against God? Will not our sins speak against us? Truth is: for every sin we committ, we need forgiveness and if God's sorrow is in us we will be led to repentance. Even in the past many of the sinners were
destroyed because of their sins and it will be worse still if the present generation of sinners are to remain still wicked. The writer of Holiness thus states "See to it that no one misses the gift of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. (Hebrews 12:15) This speaks so much of the importance of making our calling and election sure and it also warns us to guard ourselves. The destruction of the part serves as examples to those who are disobedient and yes the present generation has to take heed lest the tragedy befalls them. In connection
to this, the Holy Scripture states "See to it that you do not refuse Him who speaks. If they do not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? (Hebrew 12:25). The red lines are given and it will be a terrible tragedy to reject the messages which comes from heaven. The Scripture sharply warns us against sin to keep us from falling away from the truth. However in contrast to this, there are some elected few who will never fall and it is always more deisrable to
be on the upper hand. Exorting us to perfection the writer of Hebrew writes " Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death and of faith in God, instruction about Baptism, the laying of hands, and the resurrection of the death, and eternal judgement. (Hebrew 6:1-2) This shows a clear distinction between the matured and the immature and it opens our eyes to see how much we still need to learn about holiness. It is not that w
don't have the zeal but the error in us is that we look on pleasure when we see it and at the cross when we become remorseful. Isn't this sheer hypocrisy? Can we love pleasure more than righteousness and sin more than God? Truth is, we are as guilty as our sins are and we must never be entangled in it ever again. To come home everyday with new sins in us will only bring about our destruction and it will be to the sinners folly to do it again. The Church has to understand that rejection of sin is the acceptanc of the error. We cannot go on sinning as the
world does but we must separate ourselves from her. God calls His bride to holiness and if our desire is truly for God we must wholeheartedly obey this teachings of the Word. This new teaching on renewal is a step forward and we urge everyone to be in a constant relationship with the Word. The Church must go deeper in law, rise more in holiness and mature more in righteousness. This "new self" is the image of God and we are created in the image of God. God is the Spirit of renewal. NB: Words can be deceptive and the heart is

ith reference to the news item under the caption “CANSSEA support 2009 Retirement Act” which appeared in the Eastern Mirror and Morung Express of the 6th and 7th Nov. 2014 issue claiming to be the resolution of September 19, 2014 and the same statement of EUUN under the caption “Stand by Retirement Act 2009: EUUN” of the Nagaland Post dated 15th Nov.2014, the Nagaland Govt. Senior Employees’ Forum (NGSEF) on behalf of all employees who are retiring under 35 years length of service and not 60 years age superannuation would like to inform all concerned to understand and come to a conclusion that the 2009 Retirement Act should be reviewed and amended by any means due to the following facts: 1. Nowhere in the country except Nagaland State is applying this 35 years length of service, and 60 years age superannuation whichever is earlier for retirement is a peculiar Act. 2. Justifying the 2009 Retirement Act by both CANSSEA and the EUUN or the State Govt. telling that there is an excess Govt. employees in the State, is lacking knowledge in the background of Nagaland State status of the 16 – Point Agreement as well as the lack of planning/vision of the Naga politicians and the so called bureaucrats who could not work out the number of State employees needed for the State but not by the employees who are still in service. 3. The CANSSEA/EUUN alleging or generalizing that there are many age-tampering cases are just a blame game without any substantiation, which is unbecoming on their parts. 4. Giving employment opportunities to the younger generations by
supporting 2009 Retirement Act by CANSEEA/EUUN is a blind attempt without checking whether genuine unemployed candidates are being recruited with fair and proper recruitment policies by the higher ups. 5. How many genuine candidates have been given employment opportunities or provided jobs by the CANSSEA and the EUUN all these years without knowing that they are directly or indirectly depending on the senior employees. In other word, trying to oust the senior employees by CANSSEA & EUUN by supporting 2009 Retirement Act is something like ‘the son killing his own father on becoming matured by telling that I don’t need you anymore policy’ which is very inhuman on their parts as a barking dog with desperateness or beating the bush without knowing the head and tail of the issue. 6. We congratulate the write ups of many sensible and well-wishers in support of review and amendment of 2009 Retirement Act from Mokokchung under the caption “appealing to CANSSEA” for withdrawing of its support to the disproportionate/ unreasonable/ shortsighted/ imbalanced Act which appeared in Nagaland Post Readers’ Post, dated the 15th Nov. 2014. 7. Don’t worry, NGSEF is filing an RTI Case to the Chief Secretary, P & AR, Law & Justice Departments for delaying the matter for 3 months after getting the file from the present Hon’ble Chief Minister with a positive comment, ‘study and take up the matter’ on the 18th August, 2014. he general public in Nagaland had not thought that they would enjoy a better living condition and see better governance when TR Zeliang took over as new chief minister (CM) of the state from Neiphiu Rio, who became the lone Nagaland Member of Parliament, on May 24 this year. There was no jubilation among the large sections of the people in Nagaland either when such change of guard took place. Why was the jubilation not happening in Nagaland when Zeliang became the CM? Because the people of the state hardly believed that the new CM would do magic in reviving the fragile economy. The only general mood of the state was the new BJPled NDA Government at the Center headed by dynamic Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi would give some succors to Nagaland. This general mood was strengthened mainly because the DAN-III Government headed by Zeliang was also an important ally of the NDA Government at the Center. In fact, hordes of ministers, parliamentary secretaries of the Zeliang Government, as soon as they came to power, made multiple trips to national capital meeting with various union ministers of their concerned departments with beautiful bouquets, colorful Naga shawls, jackets and waistcoats presenting them. On top of it,

our CM also made a high profile meetings with the PM, Home Minister, etc. When media persons asked about their meetings with Central leaders, their answers were: “Courtesy calls.” I don’t know what was going on. If their series of meetings with Central leaders were “courtesy calls,” then something was wrong. But later, it had come to light that our ministers and parliamentary secretaries made frantic attempts in pleading with central leaders to rescue their precarious financial positions. Even the CM made an ardent plea to the PM to give the state a “Onetime-grant” to wipe out the state’s deficit amounting to Rs 1234.00 crore. Whenever enquired about the responses from the central leaders of their ardent pleas, most of our ministers and parliamentary secretaries’ replies were: “They (central leaders) gave us a patient hearing.” We hardly came across any news that the central leaders were giving any commitment to rescue financial problems of their respective departments. Yet, sources revealed that some departments received some funds, might not be significant. At the same time and most enigmatic is nobody knows the exact financial position of the state but looking at the present scenarios, the state appears to be in dire straits. Now from all the available sources and also looking at the way PM Modi func-
tions his Government at the center, the state must tighten their belt and must take austerity measures. It is not convincing when some ministers or parliamentary secretaries attributed state’s poor finances to the award of the 13th Finance Commission. It is rather more confusing when some comment that the state’s economy will improve after the 14th Finance Commission begins. There is still no guarantee that the 14th Finance Commission will make the state financially stable if we continue profligate spending culture. The only option is we have to tighten the belt and take austerity measures. Since his becoming CM of Nagaland five months back, Zeliang kept drawing flaks from various quarters for his inapt handling of some very sensitive issues like AssamNagaland border, hurried oil explorations, etc. and, of course, his inability to future financial forecast of the state. Unfortunately, there are still dissidents within his ruling party expressing their opinions on his poor style of leadership, though some feel he should be given some more time as five months are too short to prove his caliber as CM. He is largely seen as politically inefficient in keeping his flocks together. Yet, if the present political trend within the ruling NPF party continues, it is clear that the fragile state will mark an alltime low soon in its governance and affairs.

businEss Microsoft Corp becomes most valuable company behind Apple Inc San FranciSco, november 15 (aP): The bull run in Microsoft’s stock this past year has helped the tech giant surpass Exxon Mobil and seize the rank of the second most valuable company, behind Apple Inc. Under new CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft has worked to overcome its reputation as a clumsy behemoth struggling to keep up with new tech trends and consumer habits. Nadella has cut expenses – and jobs – while pledging to refocus the company on mobile technology and cloud computing. His efforts have fueled a stock surge that drove Microsoft’s total market value above $410 billion on Friday. That leapfrogged Exxon’s value of $404 billion, which has been dinged by the drop in oil prices. ”Microsoft has made a strategic change,” said Daniel Ives, a tech analyst at FBR Capital Markets. He said Nadella still faces challenges with a company that’s heavily reliant on the declining personal computer market. But compared with other longtime tech stalwarts, such as IBM, HewlettPackard and Oracle, ”Microsoft has done the best job of trying to skate where the puck is going,” Ives said. Apple Inc is currently the world’s most valuable DIMAPUR Civil Hospital:
company, with a market capitalization of more than $668 billion. That’s more than the $616 billion that Microsoft was worth when it was No. 1 in December 1999. Microsoft shares fell sharply the next year. But the Redmond, Washington company has earned greater cachet on Wall Street over the last 18 months. Its stock has risen nearly 70 percent since April 2013, when activist investment firm ValueAct Capital announced it had taken a $2 billion stake in the company and would scrutinize its strategy. Within a few months, longtime CEO Steve Ballmer announced plans to retire. The move was described as unrelated. Since then, Nadella has announced new initiatives to expand in cloud computing, which promises to be more lucrative than the traditional model of selling software that is installed on clients’ computers. Microsoft has also promised a redesign of its flagship Windows operating system and released versions of other popular software for smartphones and tablets, including devices made by competitor Apple. Microsoft shares have outperformed the techheavy NASDAQ Composite Index, which gained about 45 percent in the same 18-month period.

Children’s Day focuses on protecting children rights pheK, November 15 (mexN): The Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) celebrated Children’s Day at New Life School in Phek village on November 14. Speaking on children rights and importance of legal services authority, District & Session Judge GH Ramlia stated that a child has all rights as parents do. Children have the right to adequate standard of living, healthcare, education, services and to play and for recreation. They have the right to protection from abuse, neglect,
exploitation and discrimination, he said. However, as children cannot protect their rights and interests, they need help and protection from adults, he stated, adding it is “our” duty to ensure that children have what they need to live. Also, it is the duty of adults to establish suitable condition for development of children’s skills and interests, which will enable them to develop harmoniously and realize their potential, it was added. Further, asserting that the first duty of society is justice, Ramlia said that if
only few people in the society could have access to justice, it would be meaningless. Therefore, with the vision to make justice accessible to all, specially the weaker section of the society, the legal services was established in every district, he said. Meanwhile, Kelhikha Kenye, Post Graduate Teacher, GHSS Phek stated that Children’s Day celebration is a very special occasion to imbibe the value of discipline, sense of order, innocence and renew commitment towards the welfare of children. “Children

Vekudulu, officer incharge, police women cell, also spoke as resource person. She reminded that just as the police have duty towards the public, the public has duty towards the police. The police and the public have to work together to uphold the law and safeguard our society, she added.

Most iconic sports photographs of all time
A collection of moving photographs that demonstrate the pain of heartbreak and the pure, unadulterated joy of triumph. Derek Redmond and His Dad Finish An Olympic Race
Diego Maradona Takes On Six Defenders
Eddie Gaedel Becomes The Only Little Person To Play Major League Baseball
Derek Redmond was a British Olympic sprinter (400 meters) in the ’80s and early ’90s. His career had been plagued by injuries that forced him to drop out of the 1988 Olympics just before his race. He had eight surgeries between 1988 and 1992 and by the time the Barcelona games came along he was ready to go. In the semifinals his hamstring snapped after 150 meters. A stretcher was brought out but Redmond refused it. And pulled himself up and began limping to the finish. His father ran through security to be with his son and helped him cross the finish line.
Diego Maradona is among the greatest soccer players to have ever played the game. This photo from the 1982 World Cup shows him going up against six Belgian defenders. This sums up how many saw Argentina’s teams of the period: Maradona vs. the world. Four years later Maradona would win that match up and lead Argentina to a World Cup victory.
At 3’7” tall, Eddie Gaedel had a nearly invisible strike zone, which (along with selling tickets) is just what St. Louis Browns owner Bill Veeck had in mind when he staged this publicity stunt. Gaedel was under orders not to swing and he walked on four pitches. He was immediately pinch-run for, and his jersey (number “1/8”) currently hangs in the Baseball Hall Of Fame.

1 You have heard that the ancients were told, "You shall not commit murder" and "Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court." 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever shall say to his brother, "Raca," shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever shall say, "You fool," shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell. 23 If therefore you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your offering there before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering. 25 Make friends quickly with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way, in order that your opponent may not deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I say to you, you shall not come out of there, until you have paid up the last cent. Matthew 5:21–26 is clearly one unit. It is the first of six units that begin "You have heard that it was said, but I say to you . . . " These six units are Jesus' explanation of the Christian righteousness that surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees. Verse 20, which leads into these six units, says, "For I say to you, that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven." Then comes our text. The reason for choosing this text this morning has to do with where we are in the Master Planning Process at Bethlehem. We believe that God has given us a powerful and biblical Mission Statement and Vision for Bethlehem for the next several years. We exist "to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples." We have six fresh initiatives to pursue, clusters of values to live by and a prayer goal of 2000 by 2000 to pour out our lives for. As we prayed and sought the Lord about how to move forward in these things, one of the great challenges we saw was the debt on this building. It seemed to us that, rather than spreading ourselves thin over a dozen different smaller one-time financial goals, we would do better to focus on freeing up about $300,000 a year that we currently pay on this mortgage. That's what next Sunday is designed for: bringing pledges to the Lord so that when October rolls around, we will each (as God leads us) give a one-time gift to eliminate entirely the $1.1 million debt on this building. But the task force for resources realized from the outset that debt removal is not the
Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals was a defining moment of Michael Jordan’s career. The Jazz had just won Games 3 and 4 to tie the series, when Jordan was diagnosed with the flu and told that he couldn’t play in Game 5. Michael Jordan ignored that advice and went on to play 44 minutes (of 48 possible), looking visibly weak the entire time. That didn’t stop him from leading Bulls back from an early deficit and then hitting a game-winning three as the fourth quarter wound down. Jordan finished with 38 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, before collapsing into Scottie Pippen’s arms.

In every
one of these roles, the moment one opens his mouth someone disagrees. And if the issue is hot enough, that disagreement can be felt as anger and alienation. At any given moment, for example, the President of the United States has millions of people calling him a hero and millions calling him a jerk. That was true of Abraham Lincoln and it will be true of every president that ever serves. And it is true of every other public role. So, are all these people responsible, before they worship, to contact every person who has something against them? That would be impossible, it seems. But it's not our inability to see how it would work that raises the question. It's the context. Go back 14 verses to verse 9. There Jesus says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Yes, and that is what this text is about too. Be a peacemaker before you worship. Be reconciled with those who have something against you, before you bring your Freeing the Future pledge next Sunday. But then notice what comes next in Matthew 5:10–12: 10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness [not sin, but righteousness], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely [not truly], on account of Me. 12 Rejoice, and be glad [that is, don't let your conscience be troubled as if you were guilty of their hostility], for your reward in heaven is great, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Now this is remarkable. What Jesus says is that sometimes people will hold something against you when they shouldn't—insulting you, persecuting you, saying all kinds of evil against you falsely. What do you do in such circumstances? Do you stop worshiping as long as someone feels like this about you? If so, Jesus would never have been able to worship in the latter years of his life. He was constantly opposed. They sought to trip him up in his speech. They tried to kill him. They tried to shame him. Was he responsible for this? Not only that, he said that the same would be true for his disciples. In Matthew 24:9 he said, "You will be hated by all nations on account of my name." In other words, "If you are faithful to me, somebody will always have something against you."
"So Far as It Depends on You" So what does Jesus mean in Matthew 5:23–24? I think he means, "If you remember in this week that someone has something against you because you have wronged them, then as much as it depends on you, try to be reconciled." Humble yourself. Reach out. You can hear two qualifications of Jesus' words that I see in the context. We are only responsible for what others hold against us when it is owing to real sin or blundering on our part. We are responsible to pursue reconciliation, but live with the pain if it does not succeed. In other words, we are not responsible to make reconciliation happen. Paul says in Romans 12:18, "If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men." So far as it depends on you. Jesus took every step required of a human being to make matters right with his enemies (he never sinned), and still they had things against him and were not reconciled to him. There are numerous other questions raised by this text. But let me close this morning with the pressing question about what we shall do with this word from the Lord this week. Reconciliation Is Harder Than Donation The acceptability of our pledges next Sunday morning hangs in part on whether we will obey this text this week. To be willing to pledge $20,000 next Sunday, but be unwilling to make a hard phone call to a person you have wronged would not be pleasing to the Lord. So there are three questions all of us should ask ourselves in a spirit of prayer and openness to the Lord: If someone has something against me, is it owing to something I should not have done or should not have said? Is it owing to something I should have done or should have said, but didn't? In other words, have I wronged someone? If I am to blame, have I taken sufficient steps to be reconciled? If not, am I willing to humble myself and make the contact before I make my pledge next Sunday? Do you know why God will be pleased if we all do that this week? Because human reconciliation is much harder than financial donation. So if God gives us the grace to do the harder thing, he will get more glory next Sunday when we come with a clear conscience to do the easier thing.

INSPIRATIONAL STORIES, MESSAGES, POEMS & SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES
The rise and the fall of the Antichrist (A short summary from the Book of Revelation) Selie Visa The birth pains: A period of distress preceding the Messianic Age will come but Jesus' followers should not be alarmed. There will be wars and rumors of war, but these events must not be a cause for alarm, for these are within God's purposes. During this period there will be all kinds of disturbances... persecutions, international power struggles, earthquakes, and famine. There will be wars and rumors of war. These are indications of God's intervention in the historical process. These events and period of intense sufferings before the coming of the Messiah must not be taken as marking the End. They are rather the beginnings of "renewal" or the beginnings of "birth pains"... the sufferings expected to occur in the period before the coming of the Messiah. Jesus answered: Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name claiming, `I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Matthew 24:4-13) No one knows the day or hour: The Second Coming of Jesus will be to judge the world and establish the New Jerusalem or the Messianic Kingdom. The unsaved will be cast into hell and the righteous will enter heaven. The Bible says no one knows the day or the hour except God. People have tried to predict the time of the Day of the Judgment or the End of the Ages. But God doesn’t come and go according to time fixed by man. "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Matthew 24:36)
Warnings on false Christs, false prophets, false apostles and false teachers: At that time if anyone says to you, `Look, here is the Christ!' or, `Look, there he is!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect--if that were possible. So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time. (Mark 13:21-23) Matthew 24:23-25 contains the same warning. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. (1 John 4:1-3) Luke 21 contains some exhortations: Do not follow false leaders. Do not be frightened by the awesome events associated with the end times. These are events that must happen. Do not worry about your legal defense when you are persecuted and face legal charges because of your Christian witness. When all turn against you, persevere and take a firm stand. When the final apocalyptic events take place, take heart at your coming redemption when the Son of Man returns. Recognize also that these things point to the approach of the kingdom of God. Be assured that throughout the apocalyptic period the Lord's words endure. Be watchful and pray so that you will come through all these things in a way the Son of Man will approve of.
for the future. And certainly the prophetic books look ahead. But a more striking feature is their tone of warning and judgment from God. A special category of prophetic literature is apocalyptic, of which Revelation is the primary example. Apocalyptic literature deals with cataclysmic events of global proportion. The language is highly symbolic. Events unfold in quick, dazzling displays of light, noise and power. This makes the genre fertile ground for speculation and subjective interpretation. To evade that, pay close attention to the structure when readingthe Book of Revelation. Definition of Antichrist: The term Antichrist occurs five times in four verses in John’s epistles (1 John 2:18 & 22; 1 John 4:3; 2 John 7).False Christs are to be distinguished from the Antichrist. False Christs are people who make a false claim to be the Messiah. The false Christ is an impostor while the Antichrist is one who opposes Christ. His opposition is mainly through the doctrines about Jesus' person and work which are contrary to the truth. The Greek preposition “anti” that serves as a prefix on the word “Antichrist” means “in opposition to” or “in the place of”. Thus the Antichrist may be opposed to Christ or may take the place of Christ.
The rise of the Antichrist: 1) Revelation 13:1-4 says that the Antichrist will further Satan’s cause. The Antichrist will use Satan’s power to lead the world away from God through miracles, signs and even force. In 2 Thessalonians 2:9 & 10 Paul warns us that a superhuman person will utilize supernatural means of miracles, signs and wonders. These remarkable phenomena, which in the past were used so effectively in laying a foundation for the church, will be redirected to purposes of deceit. They will be counterfeit in the sense that they produce false impressions, deluding people to the point of accepting the lie as truth. The "man of lawlessness" is the Antichrist. The motivation of the lawless one is to deceive; it is the nature of unrighteousness to palm itself off as righteousness. Satan is the root behind thedecepApocalyptic literature: Perhaps the most challenging literary tions of the lawless one. Satan usually does not use direct apgenre of the Bible is the prophetic. We tend to think of prophecy as a prediction proach. He cunningly uses false messiahs,
false teachers, false religions and false doctrines that ultimately lead people to worship him. Believers must be vigilant and not take part in anything or support anyone who works against Christ or His Church, no matter how good and attractive they may seem on the surface. Do not take any teaching for granted even if it comes from someone of international repute. 2)Revelation 13:5-6 implies that the Antichrist apparently will be given the gift of oratory. Some evil leaders of the past used their speaking ability to gain popular support. “For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity--for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.” (2 Peter 2:18&19) Believers should reject any teaching that is contrary to the scriptures and lessens the sovereignty, holiness and majesty of our Lord Jesus. 3)Revelation 13:7-17 goes on to tell us that the Antichrist will persecute believers. Not only will the Antichrist make war against believers, but he will conquer them. John encouraged us to exercise endurance and faithfulness in the face of persecution and martyrdom. Believers need to realize that martyrdom, which the world considers a victory for the Antichrist is actually a victory for believers. “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10) All political, economic and religious powers of the world will acknowledge the authority of the Antichrist. Only those who are saved will discern the true nature of the Antichrist and refuse to worship him. Another beast who will serve the Antichrist is the false prophet. The false prophet will exercise power on behalf of the Antichrist and force the world to worship the Antichrist. The unholy trinity of Satan, the Antichrist and the false prophet will deceive the world through miracles, signs and wonders. Believers should not be surprised or alarmed at the success and power of the An-
Esther Listen Word Of Life

od who, do not have partiality on the basis of gender entitle two books of the Bible in women’s name. One is Esther and another Ruth. Former was Hebrew born in exilic land; later Moabite who came to Jerusalem to take refuge under the wings of Israelites God. Both were good listener and heroines of the books which inscribed their name. Ruth the young widow carefully carry out mother-in-law’s counsel so she became wife of the rich man Boaz. Ruth turns out to be great grandmother of King David and paraded in the linage of Christ. Due to limited space only beautiful listening habit to godly advice of Esther the queen of Persia & Mede the wife of king Ahasuerus will be explore. Family Background Esther was the daughter of Abihail, Benjamin (2: 15) probably born beyond river Tigris. Her mother was also Israelite, she was pure Israelite breeds. Her great grandparent Kish was captive with king of Judah Jeconiah by king of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar (2: 6). In spite of prophetic utterance from Jeremiah, king Jeconiah did not heed, ultimately he was taken as captive. Later on king Cyrus issued a degree those who want to return to their native place Jerusalem can do so! Yet Esther’s parents not avail the opportunity. Her story record in the book of Esther took around 10 years which runs from BC 444 to 434. She was orphan in that exilic land so her cousin Mordecai adopted as his daughter (2: 7, 15) and gave timely advice in which Esther acts upon. Backdrop for feast Ahasuerus whom secular historian record as Xerxes rules 127 provinces from India to Ethiopia (1: 1; 8; 9) for that ‘India’ mentioned twice. It was the greatest kingdom of that known world. Thus being as ruler of vast empire he master to fight …. Tradition says prophet urges the Ahasuerus to restrain from that fighting but did not regard. In the battle of Salamis in BC 480 he was defeated. To forget painful memory also to hide his weakness besides to signal the citizen that he is still strong king. He organizes a mega feast which lasted half year (1: 4). King’s Banquet While entire nobles and provincial governors enjoy as they pleasure in the garden courtyard of king’s palace of
Shushan –the capital city. King’s demonstrates his glory, pomp, splendors and greatness. On seventh day when the heart of king was merry with wine, he summons seven Eunuchs who serve at his chamberlain (1: 10). In olden days Eunuch were employed in the palace. If men assign to care the queen’s there may chance for conjugal relationship and in jealousy may kill king. In vice versa, if ladies assign to care king, ladies also may have relation with king and in envy may murder queen. Some born as Eunuchs and other were made especially from the linage of defeated king as they knew palace ethic (Mat. 19: 12). King order seven eunuchs at once to bring queen Vashti before the peoples and princes by wearing royal crown to show her beauty for she was fair to behold (1: 11). Queen’s Banquet Meanwhile Vashti also made a feast for women in the royal palace which belongs to Xerxes (1: 9). That mega feast might calls queen’s feast. While they enjoys suddenly seven Eunuchs arrived with king’s message, told Vashti what they were instructed. But queen refuse (1: 12)! Tradition views it was not the mistake of Vashti. As she told them to answer the king ‘you are drunk. How I can meet you in this condition before the congregation. That will embrace for us.’ It was the not matter of embracement but refusal. The denial to king command is equal to disobedience to national laws. When a person neglects king’s word he/ she have to face the consequence. Dethrone of Vashti When Eunuchs convey queen’s refusal king became furious since he spoke in front of royal communities. It was great humiliation for him as feasted to hide his defeat but got another dishonor before officials. Case was taken serious because Vashti turn down king’s order before the wives of princes which will be bad example for them. As usual the king consults the wise men; who experts in laws and held high esteemed in the kingdom to release justice (1: 13). Among them Memucan answers Vashti’s refusal will spread in entire province, many noble ladies will contempt their husband. Consequently many families will be ruin. To avert this Vashti be bar to appear before king. Queen-ship is given to someone who is better than her and to notify to search virgin for that (1: 16-19) and king act (1: 21-22)!
Hadassah Named Esther Follow by dethrone of Vashti, after laps of three year issued royal edict to search for new queen (2: 4). For that they took Esther as one of the candidate (2: 8). Esther was Persian named for Hadassah. To hid her identity first time she was called Esther by Mordecai while she was taken in harem (2: 10) to be one of the competitor for queen-ship. In Hebrew Hadassah denotes ‘myrtle.’ Neither Esther voluntarily contests nor Mordecai coveted for that post. Due to king’s proclamation the armies search every home and forcefully took many virgins includes Hadassah. Mordecai being typical Jew and Ezra’s contemporary he might with Ezra strongly oppose mix marriage. Ezra urges Jew should not take non-Jew. Or Jew girl should not give to non-Jews that will loss royal blood. Ezra was advocator of pure Jews breed. Mordecai did not like yet compel to give Hadassah a Persian name and married with non-Jews. His typical Jews nature reflects in his reluctant to bow before the Prime Minister Haman. Though there was custom of that nation to bow before the dignified (3: 2). Knowingly Mordecai did not follow because Haman the Agagite was the descendent of king Agag the Amalekite whom Prophet Samuel slays (1 Sam. 15: 33). Esther in Beauty Parlor Along with selected maidens, Esther also kept in the harem for beauty treatment. Course was twelve month for beautification (2: 12). First six month they were given oil of myrrh treatment, another six months with perfumes. In this course they learn code and conduct for the palace ethic. Esther obtains favor in the sight of all those who saw her includes their instructor (2: 15). During her stay as trainee in Palace Mordecai took report of Esther’s well being on daily basis and he might timely advice her in which Esther follows (2: 11). Esther became Queen King calls one by one every virgin those who are in that harem. Every lady was allows to carry whatever they wish from women quarter’s (2: 13). When turn for Esther arrived, she was call in the tenth months of her beauty treatment. That is the seventh years of king reign. Unlike other competitors Esther dresses as per the advice of Haggai the chief Eunice of the women (2: 15). Esther knew a person who will win the heart of king
will become Queen (2: 17). Hence being as a good listener from life transforming word, she understood the Eunuch knew the things which king delight. The Esther walks in as slave orphan daughter but won the king’s heart and come out as Queen of Persia & Mede. Esther Listened Mordecai Esther always pays attentive to her godly guardian Mordecai. Mordecai mentored and trained her to be an established person in the society. Mentor builds bridge from present to future which they intended them to be! Mordecai gave timely advice and in that word of life Esther works. While Hadassah was taken in harem, Mordecai instruct her not to reveal her identity she obeyed. She did not reveal identity till the time came to do so. Good listening habit assists her to take advice from the Eunuchs which ultimately lead to won the king’s heart and became queen (2: 17). Even after elevated as queen still she listens to Mordecai and met the king (2: 13-16). Consequently Jew saved from annihilation. She listens to the word of life from godly parent till today Jews celebrate Purim in remembrance of that great deliverance (9: 28). Implication The above good listening habit shows except Esther, other contenders dress up as they like and took what please themselves (2: 13). So other could not win the king’s heart. For Esther the goal of her dress is to become queen. Hence she dresses up according to the advice of Eunuchs who knows how a person can win king’s favor. Dress may not be like by the Esther but wining king’s favor was necessary. Esther walks in as orphan slave lady but walk out as queen of Mede & Persian. On contrary Queen Vashti did not take notice of king word she has to abdicate her position! Because of not eavesdrop and acted on that command queen of 127 provinces turn ordinary person. But Esther the insignificant maid listen the word of life thus elevated as queen of greatest kingdom. Both of them were fair and beautiful to see (1: 11; 2: 7). The small difference was Vashti does not listen so got demotion Esther noted so promoted. Hence, listen to the word of life is important. Like that those who repute the word of God and not walk on that will spiritually weak, after passes of this life finally demotion in hell. On other hand receptor to the word of God and those who live out, will transform as saint continue to promote even life after death ultimately to blessed heaven.
tichrist. They only need to be alert against any organization, group or individual who does not present Jesus Christ as the only Lord and Saviour of mankind. The fall of the Antichrist: 1) Revelation 19:6-9: Christ will return to claim His people. The long-awaited Wedding Day will come and Jesus Christ, the groom will receive His bride, the believers. 2) Revelation 19:11-16: The first coming of Jesus was to save, but His second coming will be to judge. Upon His second coming, Christ will assert His authority as King of kings and Lord of lords. Satan, the beast or Antichrist and the false prophet made war against God’s people. But now it is Christ who comes to wage war against the enemies of God. 3) Revelation 19:19-20: The beast and all satanic leaders of the world will gather their army to fight against the Lord Jesus Christ, but they will be destroyed. The Antichrist and the false prophet will be thrown into the fiery lake. Final Judgment: (Revelation 20) John, in his vision saw thrones and seated on them were God’s people. They were given authority to judge, a function of kings and rulers.John vision included the souls of those who were martyred for their faith. They did not worship the Antichrist and they did not receive his mark upon their bodies. The believers remained steadfast in their faith and gave their lives for Christ’s sake. Later they came to life and reigned with God a thousand years. Satan is bound with a great chain and thrown into the “bottomless pit” by an angel. When the thousand years is over, Satan will be released. For the second time, Satan will be vanquished. This time not even an angel is used; only the fire of God. When Satan is sent to his eternal punishment of torment, God will judge the dead. John saw a great white throne, and seated on the throne was the Lord himself. Standing before the Judge will be all kinds of people who will wait their turn at God’s verdict of justice.Everyone whose name is not found in the Book of Life will be sent to the lake of fire and will remain there throughout eternity. Revelation 22:21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.

'Twixt gleams of joy and clouds of doubt Our feelings come and go; Our best estate is tossed about In ceaseless ebb and flow. No mood of feeling, form of thought Is constant for a day; But thou, 0 Lord, thou changest not: The same thou art alway. I grasp thy strength, make it mine own, My heart with peace is blest; I lose my hold, and then comes down Darkness, and cold unrest. Let me no more my comfort draw From my frail hold of thee, In this alone rejoice with awe—Thy mighty grasp of me. Out of that weak, unquiet drift That comes but to depart, To that pure heaven my spirit lift Where thou unchanging art. Lay hold of me with thy strong grasp, Let thy almighty arm In its embrace my weakness clasp, And I shall fear no harm. Thy purpose of eternal good Let me but surely know; On this I'll lean—let changing mood And feeling come or go— Glad when thy sunshine fills my soul, Not lorn when clouds o'ercast, Since thou within thy sure control Of love dost hold me fast .
A Special Prayer for all people this Sunday May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, glorified and loved today and everyday, throughout the world, now and forever. Amen. Hail Mary full of Grace. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you amongst women and Blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. - Mrs Revathi Narayanan, ARTC&S, Dimapur

Sonia, Rahul Gandhi adopt villages under Modi’s model village scheme
new Delhi, novemBer 15 (PTi): Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi have adopted one village each in their respective constituencies to develop them into model villages under “Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana” launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month. Party sources said that while Sonia Gandhi has selected village Udwa from Jagatpur block in her Parliamentary seat Raebareli, Rahul has chosen village ‘Deeh’ in Jagdishpur block in Amethi constituency, an area industrialised during his father late Rajiv Gandhi’s Prime Ministerial
tenure. Udwa in Jagatpur is also the birthplace of Rana Beni Madhav and has a rich historical background. Party sources, however, said that adopting the villages does not mean endorsing the scheme launched by Modi. Modi had launched Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana on the occasion of birth anniversary of Jai Prakash Narayan last month as was promised in his maiden Independence Day speech. Launching the scheme, Modi had said that if nearly 800 MPs develop three village each by 2019, around 2,500 villages will be covered in the country and the initiative
will change the face of the country by chain reaction. The Centre had recently extended the deadline by one more week for adopting villages under the plan. The Prime Minister himself has adopted Jayapur village in his Parliamentary constituency Varanasi. According to Rahul’s local representative Chandrakant Dubey, Akhilesh Singh who died in a plane crash in Uttarakhand while participating in the rescue operation during last year’s deluge, belonged to th village Rahul is adopting. Dubey said after that tragic incident Rahul had visited the village to pay his last respect to Singh.
Arvind Kejriwal woos youth, promises 800,000 jobs, WiFi new Delhi, novemBer 15 (ians): AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal Saturday launched the party’s Delhi Dialogue campaign and wooed the national capital’s youth by promising 800,000 jobs, vocational training, stadia, new colleges and WiFi across the city. Delhi is headed for elections after the assembly was dissolved earlier this month. The polls are likely to be held early next year. Addressing a gathering of around 5,000 people at Jantar Mantar in the heart of the capital, the former Delhi chief minister said that if voted to power, the Aam Aadmi Party “would create eight lakh jobs and train 10 lakh youth in the next five years”. The AAP convener also promised to better the sports infrastructure by building stadia in the city. “I had gone to a village
(in Delhi) where there was no stadium. The villagers said they had land but no stadium. I asked them to give us land so that it can be turned into stadia,” he said. He said all sports grounds in government schools would be opened to budding sportspersons for training. Kejriwal also announced a loan scheme
25 kids ill after eating mid-day meal, 15 after eating wild fruit PaTna, novemBer 15 (ians): At least 25 children fell ill Saturday after having their mid-day meal at a government school in Bihar, while 15 fell ill on the same day after consuming wild fruit in a village, officials said. The 25 children complained of uneasiness after consuming their meal of khichri and chokha at the Boknari middle school near Paraiya in Gaya district, and were examined at a hospital, school headmaster Rajnish Kumar Ranjan told IANS over phone. “All the children are now safe,” he said. Ranjan said around 200 children had the same meal. “Two hours after they ate, some children informed us of pain in their stomachs and getting nauseous,” he said. Samples of the meal were collected by police. Some parents said they strongly suspected something in the meal served to their children. But the headmaster refuted it. “It is a rumour. I have requested the district authorities to inquire into it,” he said. The headmaster said the doctors who examined the children did not find any sign of poison in their bodies. Meanwhile, at least 15 children fell ill Saturday after consuming wild fruit in Domohani village in Kishanganj district, about 400 km from Patna. They were admitted to a government hospital and were said to be out of danger. “We will monitor the condition of these children for the next 72 hours (three days), said Sanjeev Kumar, the doctor treating the children. In the past, dead lizards, frogs, insects and also a dead rat have been found in food cooked in schools in Bihar. On July 16 last year, 23 students died after eating poisonous meal in a primary school at Dharmasati Gandaman village in Saran district. A forensic report confirmed the presence of toxic insecticide strains in the cooking oil used for making food at the school. The mid-day meal scheme is running in 72,000 schools across Bihar, and 16 million students avail meals cooked under the scheme.
for students passing out from Delhi’s schools and wanting to pursue diploma or degree courses. He said no student would be denied a loan. The AAP leader also promised to open 20 new colleges on the outskirts of the capital in partnership with villages. He also said the AAP would make Delhi a drug-free city. “Whatever we promised before coming to power, we fulfilled them in just 49 days. And whatever promises we have made today, we will fulfill them also,” he said. The two-year-old Aam Aadmi Party had stunned the nation by forming the government in Delhi last December with the backing of eight Congress legislators. Kejriwal, however, quit as chief minister after failing to introduce the Jan Lokpal bill in the assembly.

BrisBane, novemBer 15 (agencies): Economic reforms are bound to face resistance and, hence, must be insulated from political pressure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday, but emphasised that such policy should also be “people-centric and people-driven”. Modi’s comments made at a private retreat of G20 leaders in Brisbane come days before the start of the winter session of parliament in which key but controversial legislation on opening up the pensions and insurance sectors are expected to be taken up. The government may also seek to tweak the contentious new land acquisition law. These policy moves are seen as crucial to encouraging large investors, many of who have been disappoint-
NSA monitoring reports of China training Pakistani troops along India border BrisBane, novemBer 15 (PTi): The Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday downplayed reports of Chinese troops training Pakistan Army personnel right across the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a press conference after Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the first day of G20 summit here, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said the PM met Chinese President Xi Jinping this morning. Since the PM’s attention was not drawn to any such report by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, he had no word with Xi regarding this, Akbaruddin said. Saying that the NSA is monitoring situation, Akbaruddin added that reports may or may not be true. The MEA’s comment came a day after a news agency cited a report submitted by the Border Security Force intelligence wing to the NSA as saying that the Chinese troops have been seen training Pakistani Armymen in “weapon handling” techniques bang opposite Rajouri sector of International border. The report, accessed by PTI, said these military manoeuvres were being conducted at forward defence locations of Pakistan which are usually manned by border guarding personnel-- the Pakistan Rangers.
The Morung Express
Preliminary inputs analysed by BSF also showed some Pakistan Army units have taken over paramilitary posts of Rangers opposite Sriganganagar sector. BSF also found a handful of new observation towers have also been set up by Pakistan in recent past along Abohar and Gurdaspur sectors in Punjab. The BSF intelligence reported that phone intercepts along the border indicate that Pakistan Army and Rangers are planning to deploy snipers and sharp shooters at strategic locations and posts to target Indian soldiers and assets. The Border Security Force intelligence also reported that a special squad of Pakistani Army commandos have been placed at select locations along the IB and LoC, which may attempt to carry out raids and Border Action Team (BAT)-sponsored attacks into the Indian territory. It also said a large grouping of terrorists has been detected along Sialkot area in Pakistan which may be planning to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir at a time when Assembly polls are scheduled in the state. It also said agencies have detected a few launch pads for terrorists to infiltrate along either the International Border (IB) or the Line of Control (LoC).
ed by the incremental pace of reforms being pursued by Modi’s government. India needs big-ticket investments to create millions of new jobs for its burgeoning youth population. “Reform is bound to face resistance ... (it) must be insulated from political pressures,” Modi told fellow G20 leaders over a barbeque lunch at a retreat hosted by Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott at the Queensland Parliament House. He said reforms should lead to simplification of processes and that methods of governance must be reformed. The Prime Minister also made it clear that reforms have to be driven by the people and that it cannot be undertaken by “stealth”. Asserting that reform must be people-centric and people-driven, he said
globally reforms are handicapped by the perception that they are government programmes and a burden on the people, a view that needs to change. He said reforms were a continuous multi-stage process and that they must be institutionalised, technology-driven and must have scale and be able to address root causes. Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbott in his opening statement at the summit in Brisbane vowed that world leaders would deliver on an initiative to add $2 trillion to global GDP, promising freer trade and more investment in infrastructure. Abbott, who has repeatedly promised this year’s G20 gathering in the Australian city of Brisbane would be more than a “talkfest”, said the growth plans
would add millions of jobs and boost global GDP by “more than 2%” above expected levels over the next five years. Speaking at a separate meeting with leaders of the BRICS grouping of developing nations, Modi said that repatriation of black money from abroad was a “priority” for his government, and sought close global coordination to achieve this objective. He said slush funds posed security challenges as well. The prime minister has committed to bringing back every penny of black money stashed abroad. G20 host Australia has vowed a “very aggressive” crackdown on tax avoidance. India is also seeking strong action by the Group of 20 industrialised and emerging economies against tax havens.
On international security, Modi said success against global terrorism could be within reach if countries adopt a common strategy. he call for a common strategy by Modi came during his bilateral meeting with French President Francois Hollande on the sidelines of the G20 summit. Modi’s remarks came against the backdrop of US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel’s comments that the US-led air war against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) will intensify and that the American people must prepare for a long and difficult struggle. ISIS or IS is an al-Qaeda splinter group which has seized hundreds of square miles inside Iraq and Syria, declaring the region under their control an Islamic Caliphate.
‘NDA govt’s new education policy ready by 2015’
varanasi, novemBer 15 (PTi): The NDA government was framing a new education policy to remove existing loopholes and give maximum and easy access to better education to all sections of the society, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani said today. The new policy, she said, is expected to come out next year. “We want to remove the maximum loopholes from the existing education policies, and will come up with a newly framed one for giving maximum and easy access to education to common people. “The new education policy of the NDA government is expected to come out next year, for which the suggestions would be sought from grass root level,” she said. The Minister said past education policies were framed by very few people called as experts, consisting mostly of educationists, academicians and bureaucrats. “Such policies were least associated with common man living in far off villages, and mattered less to rural people. In the new education policy, our aim is to specifically target those students who are living in villages and could not continue their education due to lack of exposure and unavailability of resources. They should get maximum benefit,” Irani said. The HRD minister was here to inaugurate a national seminar at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth today. Stressing that
providing better future to youngsters was her government’s top priority, she said, after so many years a government was formed at the Centre with absolute majority, as young, mostly in the age group of 30, voted for lotus. Irani said girl students should be encouraged to take up technical education, where their number was less, despite the fact that their performance in board exams was better than that of boys.
Some Banaras Hindu University student held protest demanding restoration of students union in BHU. They held protest against the HRD minister here outside the venue and carried postcards, questioning why government was patronizings RSS in BHU and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth. They also carried postcards, questioning why government was patronising RSS in BHU and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth.
Rat poison chemical detected in Bhopal gas victims assured pills linked to sterilization deaths compensation, end fast
raiPUr, novemBer 15 (reUTers): Tablets linked to the deaths of more than a dozen women who visited a sterilization camp in Chhattisgarh are likely to have contained a chemical compound commonly used in rat poison, two senior state officials said on Saturday. Preliminary tests of the antibiotic ciprocin tablets were found to contain zinc phosphide, Siddhartha Pardeshi, the chief administrator for the Bilaspur district, told Reuters. The antibiotics were handed out at the mass sterilization held a week ago in the impoverished state. At least 15 women have died, most of whom had attended the camp. Authorities tested the tablets after being informed that zinc phosphide was found at the nearby factory of Mahawar Pharmaceuticals, the firm at the centre of investigations into the deaths at a government-run family planning camp, Pardeshi and Chhattisgarh health minister Amar Agarwal said. Samples of the drugs have now
been sent to laboratories in Delhi and Kolkata to verify that the tablets were contaminated as the preliminary report suggested, Pardeshi said. “But, this is what we anticipate,” he said. “Symptoms shown by the patients also conform with zinc phosphide (poisoning).” Mahawar, run from an upscale residential street in state capital Raipur, had been barred from manufacturing medicines for 90 days back in 2012 after it was found in to have produced sub-standard drugs, but it did not lose its licence. An investigation is now under way into why the drugs were bought locally when there was enough stock of the medicine with the state’s central procurement agency, Agarwal said. “There was no incentive to procure locally so we need to investigate why it was done. This means something is wrong,” he said. More possible victims arrived at hospitals from villages on Thursday and Friday, some clutching medicine
strips from Mahawar and complaining of vomiting, dizziness and swelling, a doctor at the district’s main public hospital said on Friday. The new patients had not attended the sterilization camps, but had consumed the drugs separately, the doctor and another official said. The state government said it had seized 200,000 tablets of Ciprocin 500 and over 4 million other tablets manufactured by Mahawar. Police have arrested Ramesh Mahawar, the firm’s managing director, and his son. Mahawar has said both are innocent. India is the world’s top sterilizer of women, and efforts to rein in population growth have been described as the most draconian after China. Indian birth rates fell in recent decades, but population growth remains among the world’s fastest. Sterilisation is popular because it is cheap and effective, and sidesteps cultural resistance to and problems with distribution of other types of contraception in rural areas.
new Delhi, novemBer 15 (ians): After fighting for nearly 30 years, Bhopal gas tragedy survivor Kamla Bai is finally hopeful of “achche din” (good days) following the government’s assurance that her for additional compensation and revision of death figures will be met. The 70-year-old Kamla Bai is one among the many survivors of the gas tragedy who were on an indefinite fast in the national capital since Nov 10. The five women survivors and their supporters broke their waterless fast after four days at the Jantar Mantar protest site after assurance from Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar. “With the government assurance comes a ray of hope that our voice has been heard. I am hopeful of ‘achche din’ now, a promise the new government made,” Kamla Bai told IANS. The survivors were demanding additional compensation of Rs.1 lakh for those affected and correcting the numbers of those killed and the extent of injuries in the curative petition filed in the Supreme Court by the central government.
The Union Carbide disaster took place on the intervening night of Dec 2-3, 1984. The protest was led by five organisations. “On both our demands, the minister has agreed to the determination of compensation on the basis of data from medical research and hospital records instead of the faulty medical categorisation that we were agitating against,” said Rashida Bee, president of the Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationery Karmchari Sangh. Safreen Khan of Children Against Dow Carbide told IANS that “though it took us 30 long years, we finally jolted the government out of its slumber”. Balkrishna Namdeo of Bhopal Gas Peedit Nirashrit Pension Bhogi Sangharsh Morcha said the minister agreed that the curative petition will be “amended on the basis of figures of death and extent of injuries caused by the disaster from scientific research and hospital records”. “The minister has also assured that the government will seek urgent hearing of the amended curative petition,” he said.

Growth tops agenda in G-20 summit
BRISBANE, NOVEMBER 15 (AP): Australia's prime minister vowed that world leaders would deliver on an initiative to add $2 trillion to global GDP, promising freer trade and more investment in infrastructure as heads of the 20 largest economies began cementing plans to drag sagging growth out of the doldrums. Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who has repeatedly promised this year's Group of 20 gathering in the Australian city of Brisbane would be more than a talkfest, said the growth plans would add millions of jobs and boost global GDP by "more than 2 percent" above expected levels over the next five years. "That is millions of jobs and trillions of dollars in extra production," Abbott said as he officially opened the two-day G-20 conference. "Yes, we want freer trade and we will deliver it. Yes, we need more infrastructure and we will build it," he said. "This is our message to the world: that governments can deliver, that
governments can agree that the world can be better, that there can be higher jobs, higher growth and more jobs." G-20 nations, which represent 85 percent of the global economy, are under pressure to take definitive action at this year's summit, rather than simply producing a set of vague, unmeasurable goals. The International Monetary Fund has warned about a "new mediocre" for the world economy, putting renewed focus on the G-20's growth initiative. Australian Treasurer Joe Hockey said the group's growth strategies include 1,000 measures that will lift infrastructure investment, increase trade and competition, cut red tape and increase employment. "While we still face economic challenges in many parts of the world, I'm optimistic our 2 percent commitment will deliver the growth the world needs," Hockey said. But rights groups such as The Civil Society 20 group, or C20, want assurances
Putin plans to leave G20 early after West blasts Russia over Ukraine

that the poor will benefit the most from the plans, estimating that the additional growth could lift 1 billion people out of poverty if it was poured into the poorest 20 percent of G-20 households. Outside the convention center where the summit is taking place, hundreds of protesters braved
a scorching heat wave and a labyrinth of roadblocks to stage rallies demanding everything from action on climate change to banning Russian President Vladimir Putin from the gathering. Six thousand police officers were on duty to maintain order, many dumping bottles of water
on themselves to cope with temperatures that are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) on Sunday. The summit will conclude on Sunday with the release of an official communique, a rundown of what the countries have achieved and want to achieve in the future.
BRISBANE, NOVEMBER 15 (REUTERS): Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to leave theG20 summit early, a member of his delegation said, after Western leaders blasted Moscow on Saturday for the crisis in Ukraine and threatened more sanctions. The Russian official told Reuters that Putin planned to skip a working session on Sunday at the two-day summit in Brisbane and bring forward his departure. Russia denied it was involved in a recent escalation of military activity in Ukraine but faced strong rebukes from Western leaders, including U.S. President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. "I guess I’ll shake your hand but I have only one thing to say to you: you need to get out of Ukraine," Harper told Putin at the summit, according to his spokesman Jason MacDonald. Putin’s response to the comment wasn’t positive, MacDonald said in an email, without elaborating. Obama said Russian aggression against Ukraine was a threat to the world, while the European Council demanded Moscow withdraw troops and weapons from the neighboring nation and put pres-
sure on rebels there to accept a ceasefire. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the European Union was considering further financial sanctions against Russian individuals because of the crisis in Ukraine. "The present situation is not satisfying," Merkel told reporters at the summit. Europe's foreign ministers will meet on Monday to assess the situation in Ukraine and whether further steps including additional sanctions were needed against Russia, said European Council President Herman Van Rompuy. Putin's isolation at the G20 summit was also evident with his placing on the outer edge for the formal leaders photograph. While Obama and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping were met by Australia's governor general and attorney general when they arrived in Brisbane, Putin was met by the assistant defense minister. Despite being under intense pressure, Putin was all smiles, shaking hands with host Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who had threatened to "shirt front", or physically confront, him over the downing of Malaysian airliner MH17 over Ukraine, in which 28 Australians died.
Scientists listen, wait for comet lander signals Rohingya relatives say thousands missing en route to Malaysia BERLIN, NOVEMBER 15 (AP): The head of the European comet mission says scientists were listening for signals from the Philae lander Saturday morning, but think it is unlikely they will establish any kind of communication soon. Controllers at the European Space Agency on Friday ordered the lander to perform a maneuver intended to pull it out of a shadow on comet 67P/ChuryumovGerasimenko so that solar panels could recharge the depleted batteries. "We don't know if the charge will ever be high enough to operate the lander again," Paolo Ferri, ESA's head of mission operations, told The Associated Press. "It is highly unlikely that we will establish any kind of communication any time soon, but nevertheless the orbiter will continue to listen for possible signals — the next time they will do so at 11 am (1000GMT, 5 a.m. EST) this morning." On Thursday, Philae landed next to a cliff that largely blocked sunlight from reaching its solar panels. The historic landing climaxed a 10-year journey aboard the Rosetta space probe. Since alighting on the comet, some 311 million miles (500 million kilometers) distant from Earth, the lander has performed a series
Rosetta’s OSIRIS wide-angle camera image released by the European Space Agency ESA on Thursday November 13, 2014 shows the position of Rosetta’s lander Philae Wednesday, before it landed on the surface of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Source digitally added a circle to mark the landers location. The lander scored a historic first Wednesday, touching down on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko after a decade-long, 6.4 billion-kilometer (4 billion-mile) journey through space aboard its mother ship, Rosetta. of tests and sent back reams of data, including photos. On Friday, the spacecraft was given commands to rotate itself to catch more sunlight and to drill a hole into the comet. "We know that all the movements of the operation were performed and all the data was sent down," Ferri said Saturday. "However, at this point we do not even know if it really succeeded and if it (the drill) even touched the ground during the drilling opera-
tion." Material beneath the surface of the comet has remained almost unchanged for 4.5 billion years, so the samples would be a cosmic time capsule that scientists are eager to study. Scientists hope the $1.6 billion (1.3 billion-euro) project will help answer questions about the origins of the universe and life on Earth. Communication with the lander has been slow, with signals taking more than 28 minutes to travel
between Earth and Rosetta. Scientists say they already have gathered huge amounts of data and are calling the first-ever comet landing a roaring success. "Let's stop looking at things that we could have done if everything had worked properly," flight director Andrea Accomazzo said Friday. "Let us look at things that we have done, what we have achieved and what we have on the ground. This is unique and will be unique forever."
BANGKOK, NOVEMBER 15 (REUTERS): Thousands of Rohingya boat people who have left Myanmar in the past month have yet to reach their destinations, say relatives and an advocacy group for the persecuted minority, raising fears their boats have been prevented from reaching shore. About 12,000 Rohingya, a mostly stateless Muslim people, have left the western Myanmar state of Rakhine since Oct. 15, said Chris Lewa of the Arakan Project, which plots migration across the Bay of Bengal. Another 4,000 boat people, both Rohingya and Bangladeshis, left neighbouring Bangladesh during the same period, said Lewa. The boat people are headed for Malaysia, but most transit through Thailand, where smugglers and traffickers hold them at jungle camps near the Malaysian border until relatives pay ransoms to secure their release. About 460 boat people were found and detained by the Thai authorities in November, but thousands more have not made landfall or contacted relatives after what is usually a fiveday voyage. "Where are they?" said Lewa. "We have
become very concerned." The last time so many boat people went missing was in 2008, said Lewa. Hundreds of Rohingya, many of them starving and dehydrated, were later rescued from Indonesian and Indian waters, while others were feared lost at sea. Thailand's prime minister later said there were "some instances" in which Rohingya boats had been pushed out to sea to "let these people drift to other shores", but that they had adequate food and water. Two senior Thai military officials told Reuters that measures were in place to deter boats from coming near the country’s shores. Banpot Phunpian, spokesman for the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), said its army officers were trained to warn boats and their crews not to anchor near Thailand’s coast and that Thailand had a right to block boats in seas it patrols. "If people are trying to come into our country illegally, do we have a right to block? If they are in the sea area that we patrol we can stop them from coming in," said Banpot. The boat people who left Myanmar in the past month might be "hiding on islands near Thailand", fearful that authorities are getting tough
on illegal migrants, he said. Thailand's territorial sea extends up to 12 nautical miles from the coast, according to ISOC and the Royal Thai Navy. "CRAZY WITH WORRY" Sajeda, 32, lives in Thae Chaung, a once-sleepy fishing village near the Rakhine capital Sittwe that has become a teeming camp for Rohingya displaced in 2012. She said goodbye to her 13-year-old son Mubarek on Oct. 18. He then boarded a fishing boat with 62 other Rohingya, among them woman with young children hoping to reunite with husbands in Malaysia. The boat set sail for a larger people-smuggling ship moored far offshore, waiting to sail across the Bay of Bengal. Sajeda, who uses only one name, has heard no news from Mubarek. "I'm going crazy with worry," she said. Concern about the fate of the boat people appears to have slowed but not halted the exodus from Myanmar. Reuters witnessed Rohingya gathering to board a boat at Ohn Taw Gyi village, not far from Thae Chaung, and learned that at least one other boat had departed in the previous two weeks.
Defectors play big role in North Korean rumor mill
SEOUL, NOVEMBER 15 (AP): Video secretly taken in North Korea shows public executions by firing squad. The country is said to begin a currency revaluation that turns disastrous. Leader Kim Jong Un is reported to have thrown South Korean leaflets containing rumors about his wife in his aides' faces. Two of those stories are true. The third, who knows? AllcamefrompeopleinNorth Korea, through networks of defectors determined to get out information on the authoritarian, highly insular country they left behind. Their words and images are snapped up with enthusiasm, and often credulously, by South Korean and international media desperate for news from the poorly understood country. The sources may not be particularly well informed: They could be ruling-party officials or factory workers. Or smugglers, professors or soldiers. Generally, they are in it for the money, not a desire to force change in their homeland, according to the defectors they communicate with. Whatever their motives, the risks they face are the same. Defectors say the firing-squad and currency stories came from sources now dead because
of their work. For outsiders it can be a breeding ground for groundless rumors, as it was recently during nearly six weeks in which Kim Jong Un stayed out of the public eye. After rumors ranging from a coup to gout brought on but a cheese addiction, he emerged limping but still clearly in power. Leading defectors' organizations say they are not responsible for many of the most sensational rumors, which could come from South Korean officials, businessmen doing business with the North or someone else. But that doesn't mean the defectors are always right, either. In the months after the North's December 2013 execution of Jang Song Thaek — an uncle of Kim Jong Un who had been widely regarded as the country's No. 2 official — a defector's organization reported on its website that another top official, Choe Ryong Hae, had been detained for unclear reasons. Those reports, cited by manynews outlets, appeared doubtful days later when state TV aired photos of Choe accompanying Kim on an inspection trip. Kim Seong-Min, a wellknown defector who heads the organization involved,

Free North Korea Radio, said he now believes Choe was least investigated, if not detained. There have been varying reports about Choe's political fortunes, but on Friday, state media reported that he will soon travel to Russia as Kim Jong Un's special envoy. Kim Seong-Min is unperturbed as long as the information helps expose North Korean wrongdoing. And he has worked to help North Koreans bolster their reports by smuggling in illegal cellphones and camcorders for them. "There are lots of stories about North Korea, and I think all of them are good as long as they don't praise that country," Kim said in a re-
cent interview. "I think they will help people understand the North's dictatorship." Stories about top North Korean officials often have the murkiest sourcing. Another defector in Kim Seong-Min's group said it was a North Korean military official who told him about Kim Jong Un's angry rant over leaflets South Korean activists sent to the North by balloons. The leaflets criticized the leader's father and grandfather and made allegations about his wife's sexual behavior before they married. The defector said the official had not witnessed Kim Jong Un's tirade but talked to a colleague who said he did. The defector
requested anonymity due to worries about safety of relatives in North Korea. Most of the defectors' groups in Seoul specializing in sneaking news out of North Korea have no more than 10 North Korean sources. They regularly call their South Korean contacts at dawn or late at night, when North Korean security officials are less likely to be out with mobile equipment to detect cellphone signals. Defectors' organizations say they don't tell their sources exactly who they are or how their information will be used, so the sources will more freely share information and will face less danger. The orga-
nizations usually release no details about a source except the province he or she reported from. "They'd face espionage charges if they're arrested" and owned up to a connection with an antiPyongyang organization in South Korea, said Kim Heung Kwang, a North Korean defector who heads the North Korea Intellectuals Solidarity organization. "I just tell them I'm writing something and need some information." His organization got a legitimate big scoop about the North, one of the few reports by defectors' groups to be independently confirmed: the news of the country's botched currency revaluation in 2009. South Korean officials confirmed the details days later. Defectors say their sources often include their own relatives, friends and acquaintances. In return for information, they often get cash or gifts. Kim Heung Kwang says he gives $50 to $100 to ordinary sources when they give him useful information, with more money for "ace" informants. He says he sent about $3,000 to both of the sources who told him about the currency reform as a special bonus. South Korea's central bank esti-
mates North Korea's gross national income per capita last year at about 1.4 million won ($1,320). "They definitely do it for the money," Kim Seong-Min acknowledges. He says his group gives gifts, usually electronic products, to his sources because of a cash shortage. Son Jung-hun, a defector and human rights activist who communicates with North Koreans in border towns, said they sometimes demand up to 2 million won ($1,840) for information, but he does not pay them. He said he is trying to monitor life on the border, not publish information. He also said he doubts that his contacts have information about specific news events, or even would understand what sort of information would interest the outside world. Ahn Kyung-su, a North Korea researcher at a Seoul-based nongovernmental organization, says he suspects that sources are mostly ordinary citizens who pick up rumors circulated in North Korean border markets. That can be useful in getting a picture of life in many North Korean communities, but much less so when it comes to high-level government decisions.
HK activists denied permit to go to Beijing HONG KONG, NOVEMBER 15 (AP): Three Hong Kong students who have led protests for greater democracy in the former British colony were denied in their attempt Saturday to go to Beijing to meet with top Chinese officials. Alex Chow, Nathan Law and Eason Chung — members of a group that played a main role in organizing street protests that started nearly two months ago — arrived at the Hong Kong airport greeted by dozens of well-wishers. But they were denied boarding passes for a Cathay Pacific flight when they were told their documents that would allow them to travel to Beijing were invalid. The group left the airport, and a news conference was scheduled for later in the evening. The students had planned to fly to Beijing and head straight to China's legislature to seek talks with Premier Li Keqiang and others. The protesters oppose Beijing's decision that a panel screen candidates for the territory's inaugural 2017 election for its chief officer. Since late September, they have been occupying streets in three business and shopping districts in Hong Kong to express their objection to the Beijing decision, but the Chinese authorities have denounced the gatherings illegal and showed no sign of budging. An editorial appearing in the Saturday edition of the party-run newspaper Global Times said the students were not to meet with Chinese leaders and said their travel plans were merely a show for sympathy. "These activists may be too naive," the editorial reads. "Do they really know who they are and whom they can represent? How can they meet whomever they want in Beijing?" Beijing has in the past confiscated or refused to renew travel permits for a number of Hong Kong activists, banning them from entering mainland China. Chow and his two deputies arrived at the Hong Kong International Airport amid a large crowd of supporters, prompting security officers to set up barriers to control the crowd so as not to disrupt the flow of travelers through the facility. The crowd sang songs and chanted slogans, and about 80 of them held up yellow umbrellas, which have become a symbol for the pro-democracy movement. When the flight took off, the seats booked by the student leaders were draped with a sign that reads: "SEAT INOP, DO NOT OCCUPY."

From their so-called good friend relationship to living in together at Carter Road, the couple has kept the readers engaged in their love life. Also the actor lately took a stand for the women make up artist. He also made it clear in his interview that he was in no mood in clarifying about his relationship with Katrina Kaif. The latest addition to the Ranbir- Katrina love story is the anger attack by the junior Kapoor at the media. Well a buzz recently opened up about the entire situation that happened outside the new house of Ranbir-Katrina. He said that both of them were entering their new house and while doing so Ranbir saw
mediately rushed towards them and blurted many abuses at them. His anger was one of the worst as he not only abused them but also chased after the media people. They fled from the scene but Ranbir got a hold on their equipments, which he carried it with himself. Ranbir Kapoor has always got miffed whenever he is asked about Katrina Kaif. This is one of the repeated anger strokes, which the Kapoor lad is showing. Earlier too he was blatantly straight forward when a journalist asked him about his relationship with Katrina Kaif; he said, “Mind your own business”. Well we hope there are no more ups and downs in this love story, but we wish the Besharam actor chills down a little and sportingly admits about his lady love.

Brown died in New York on Friday morning after battling cancer for more than nine years, as People reports. She was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 23 and was receiving treatment even when she appeared on the twelfth season of The Challenge then known as Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat in 2006. She went on to participate in numerous challenges as part of the show and successfully beat off cancer once more in 2012. Brown had been battling the disease since August and documenting her struggles via Twitter and on her blog. Her last tweet, written on Tuesday (11th November), showed her true fighting spirit and optimism. However, her doctors appeared to know her days were numbered and friends and family gathered by her bedside this week. Brown wrote "I need prayers and advice my doctors are seemingly giving up
but I won't & can't rollover. Whatever option I have to LIVE I'm grabbing!" Brown used her reality status as a means of raising awareness of ovarian cancer and even set up a charitable organisation, MedGift. The organisation is a registry in which those suffering with similar long term conditions and diseases could raise funds, or- progress. MTV paid tribute to ganise additional support Brown describing her as and keep friends and loved ones up to date with their a "true fighter". The statement, obtained by MS-
NBC, reads : "MTV is tremendously sad to hear the news that Diem Brown has lost her long battle with cancer. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Diem was a true fighter and brought passion to everything she touched. We will miss her."

ISL: North East United, FC Pune City draw 0-0
Sergio Contreras Pardo (or Koke) of NorthEast United FC attacks as Daniele Magliocchetti of FC Pune City defends during match 32 of the Hero Indian Super League between NorthEast United FC and FC Pune City held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Guwahati on November 15.
GuwahaTi, November 15 (iaNs): NorthEast United FC and FC Pune City drew 0-0 in a hard-fought Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here Saturday. Pune FC improved to 12 points from eight matches but remained in the third spot in the standings while NorthEast United FC stayed in the fifth spot with the draw, having accumulated 10 points from eight matches. NorthEast enjoyed the upper hand against their opponents at the beginning of the match. They defended confidently and timed their attacks perfect-
ly, forcing the visitors to sit deep in their own half. They stretched the Pune defence and have managed to create goal-scoring chances. Midfielder Koke was sublime in his passes in the first half and at times it seemed it was a just matter of time before they went ahead. But Pune managed to hold on and went into the break with a 0-0 scoreline. The home team maintained their supremacy after the break but the all-important goal proved elusive. Pune became confident with the passage of time and came threatened to punish NorthEast for
their inability to score. 2014 World Cupper Konstantinos Katsouranis provided the attacking inspiration to Pune. He set up Nigerian striker Dudu, who tested goalkeeper Rehenesh with an on-target header and then played a neat through ball for Krisztian Vadocz who sent his shot wide. As the match neared its end, Pune, spearheaded by Dudu, became dangerous. They came close to breaking the deadlock on a couple of ocassions but like their opponents did everything without finding the target, to settle for a draw.
Carlsen crushes Anand in game 6, leads by one point
sochi, November 15 (PTi): Viswanathan Anand failed to capitalise on an optical blunder by Magnus Carlsen and went on to lose the sixth game of the World Chess Championship, here today. Carlsen, thanks to the lucky victory, surged ahead in the match for the second time and now leads the latch by 3.52.5 at exactly the half way stage with six games still remaining. At the same point last year. The Norwegian had taken a two points lead at this point in the match and it was all effectively over for Anand. The missed opportunity, which could have turned the tide of the match came in a situation that was already worse for the Indian chess wizard. onship match was during the KasparovKarpov match in the 1980s when mostly it was the Gary's gambit on Kasparov's mind. The blunder by Carlsen was, in fact, quite uncalled for as he had another move to reach the same position which would have reached similar result in the game. When asked about if he kept a poker face realising his mistake, Carlsen said, "I was not poker faced at all. I could have reached the same position via a different move order but I made the mistake." Anand on his part was quite disturbed at the outcome during the press conference and Fabiano Caruana's tweet that 'Vishy won't be able to sleep tonite' seems apt for the Indian ace. All that Anand needs to do is think right and come back in his best fighting move. Carlsen for now, seems far ahead.

BCCI calls emergency meeting on Nov 18
mumbai, November 15 (iaNs): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Saturday called an emergency Working Committee meeting in Chennai on Tuesday to decide its future course of action on holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the subsequent elections. The AGM - scheduled for Nov 20 - had to be postponed by another four weeks in the wake of Friday's Supreme Court's
decision to name those under the Mudgal Committee scanner including sidelined BCCI president N. Srinivasan, BCCI chief operating officer (COO) Sunder Raman, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra and Chennai Super Kings team official Gurunath Meiyappan besides at least three unnamed players. The emergency meeting had to be called after the Supreme Court also
stopped Srinivasan from seeking re-election saying he wasn't eligible to stand in the election till the probe into the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing and betting scandal was complete, according to ESPNCricinfo. The BCCI had earlier postponed its AGM and annual elections after the Supreme Court Sep 1 ignored pleas to reinstate sidelined board chief Srinivasan in his post. After Fri-
day's revelations, confusion raised among BCCI members about the status of the AGM. BCCI counsel C.A. Sundaram sought permission to put off the AGM by four weeks, which was granted to him by the Supreme Court. It is believed that the election of the president, secretary, jointsecretary, treasurer and five vice-presidents is only one of the several issues on the agenda of the AGM. The BCCI hurriedly is-
sued a notice for the emergency Working Committee meeting in accordance with the board's rule-book, which says that notice for such a meeting needs to be issued at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. According to the cricket website, BCCI haven't managed to formally notify all members so far but most of the Working Committee members have been verbally informed about the meeting.
