Caring Community NEW PARTNERSHIPS Spreading the mission of Mosaic into the community is vital to our success. Equally as important is inviting the community into Mosaic. Mosaic would like to celebrate two new partnerships with Mosaic in Ellsworth and their continued involvement. A unique partnership was formed with local city of Ellsworth law enforcement. Law enforcement officers and Chief Maverick Campbell were present at a recent Discover the Possibilities event, and have agreed to partner with Mosaic by having an officer serve on the Human Rights Committee. Ellsworth Police Department also had an officer give a safety presentation at one of the Kiwanis’s “Aktion Club”

Meaningful Life
Featured Person in Service
CELEBRATING 30 YEARS When Dave and Nancy Stonebraker began advocating to bring Mosaic (known as Bethphage at the time) into their community in 1985, who could have foreseen the impact the agency would have made on the lives of people that it serves and the community? In the spring of 1986, the first group homes, North and South, were built specially for Bethphage, now Mosaic in Ellsworth. These homes had their Dedication in April of 1986. Thirty years later, some of the original residents still live in these homes and continue to grow
and have meaningful lives through Mosaic. Ellsworth was the first Mosaic location in Kansas and now there are six additional agencies in the state. Without the support of the Ellsworth community, Mosaic would not have the success it shares today. We are looking forward to another 30 years and more! A JOYFUL VOICE Jim Gary moved from Great Bend Kansas to Ellsworth in 2015. He and his mother, Margaret Gary, a retired pastor, decided that Mosaic in Ellsworth was the best service provider for Jim’s needs after visiting other service providers. At first, Jim wondered about finding activities to help with his transition to Ellsworth. Jim loves singing gospel music and grew up with the religious hymns his mother shared with him during her ministries. He began attending the First United Methodist
Church of Ellsworth and was invited to attend a choir practice on Wednesday nights. Since then, Jim has become an important member of the Choir and attends weekly practices. “We love Jim’s sense of humor, he has great wit!” says choir director Tami McGreevy. Every Wednesday practice comes with new memories, new learning experiences and shared laughter. The First United Methodist Church Choir has been a crucial part of the church for over 50 years. Jim’s social role in the choir brings meaning not only to Jim, but to the church as well. Providing personalized supports and integrating people with disabilities in the community are important to Mosaic’s mission.

Staff Spotlight JOSHUA ZAMECNIK How did you come to Mosaic? I was seeking unique employment opportunities at the time and had heard about Mosaic. I was not sure what the organization was about, but I applied and found myself engaged in the opportunity. I’ve been employed with Mosaic for nearly three years. What is your favorite part about your job? I love being able to help people on a daily basis and work with an inspirational team on a common goal.
Tell us a funny story about yourself? Last October when I was attending Interhab, I accidently signed up for a Pilate’s class! Do you have any secret talents? Pilates! Kidding! I contribute sports facts for a friend who is a sports analyst. Do you have any special memories of working at Mosaic? When I was working at one of the residential apartment locations, a bird flew into the apartment. I was unsure of what to do. The person I was working with just rolled his eyes, grabbed a broom and directed the bird out of the apartment. It was a very funny moment and we laughed about the rest of the day.
