Mosman Council works in collaboration with local police (North Shore Police Area Command), community organisations, emergency services and support services to improve public safety, reduce crime and maintain Mosman as a safe community.

Crime Prevention

Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras are located at Council facilities to enhance community safety and reduce crime by deterring potential offenders and assisting police in the detection and prosecution of offenders. Council is also committed to prompt removal of graffiti and prevention of vandalism. To report graffiti or vandalism to private or Council property contact Urban Maintenance Systems on 0418 478 842 or email infnsw@ums.com.au identifying yourself as a Mosman resident and provide location and details. Domestic Violence

Council supports the Lower North Shore Domestic Violence Network, a forum for workers in domestic violence and related support services to undertake projects to reduce the incidence and impact of domestic violence within the Lower North Shore. If you are concerned about domestic violence, or would like information or support, visit the Network’s website at northshoredomesticviolence.org.au or call the NSW Domestic Violence Line on 1800656463 (24 hours, 7 days per week).

Smoke Free Zones

To preserve the right of residents and visitors to a clean and healthy environment, Council has made its beaches, children’s playgrounds, playing fields and a number of public spaces smoke free. Smoking is not permitted in the following areas: ƒ Beaches, parks and reserves. ƒ On and around Council sporting grounds, playing fields, bushland areas, bus shelters and underground car parks. ƒ Within 10 metres of Council properties. ƒ At designated and signposted alfresco dining areas on Council land. ƒ At Council events. NSW Health has also banned smoking in any seated outdoor dining area of a restaurant, café or licensed venue while food is being served.
