News flash!!! Sa Quezon City, “A motorcycle rider
was injured after he slammed into a car along Commonwealth Avenue.” Sa Bacolod City, “Two riders died after their motorcycle crashed in Purok Mainuswagon.” Nangyayari yan fellow Siklowistas, “One bottle of beer and I’m good to go”, big no pre! Ang sabi ng ating mga public health offices “Any alcoholic drink consumed will greatly affect the normal function of the body”... ano ulit Doc?! Yung normal na galaw daw natin nagiging abnormal, sige nga intindihin natin. Uminom ka isang bote ng beer, itong isang boteng nainom mo pala may intake ka na equivalent sa 0.05 (bac) or blood alcohol concentration (10 parts alcohol to 10,000 parts blood)… huh! Ano daw? Meaning you’re not suppose to drive, ride, or
do any coordinated-physical activities, under the influence, bakit daw?... because alcoholic drinks are also known as phychoactive substance that will also affect physical function. Am I allowed to ride a bike drunk? Sige kutos gusto mo? May angulo pa! Wear your safety gears, anu-ano ba yan? - Helmet - Ride jacket - Ride shoes
- Gloves - Elbow/Shin gaurds
Syempre make your ride fit and in good condition. Remember tayo ulit kawawa pag dating sa aksidente, diba fellow Siklowista? Kaya mga riders, be responsible, be defensive riders and avoid drink and ride situations. Be aware sa iyong safety mga bro!

Adventure bikes are the type of motorcycles that can get you anywhere you want to be, whether outdoor or city rides. Other bikes wouldn’t be able to match an adventure bike when it comes to hardcore touring. It is a heavy duty motorcycle
for adventure riding enthusiasts that’ll surely give the right fun and excitement in every twist of the throttle. Long tour, off road-outdoor fun, and agile City commuter all packaged into these motorcycles, that’s why adventure bikes are for the big boys! Getting an adventure bike is quite expensive at siguradong sira ang bulsa mo sa service and maintenance pa lamang, and of course fuel consumption is not thrifty, as compared to the much lower displacement motorcycles you find on our roads, tulad ng sa mga underbones, scooters, and standard bikes which local riders use for long ride touring. The well known adventure bikes here in the country are the KTM’s, BMW’s, and Ducati’s for the Japanese brands doesn’t offer much here. My neighbor has a BMW GS800 and it’s so handsome. It shows machismo all over, the aura of the bike is tremendous, and you’ll immediately feel it as it passes you by and rolls away for the weekend ride.
to travel to, and its purpose and functionality is exemplary felt. It has a 6 speed gear box and a 16 liter fuel tank that will give good fuel economy compared to the much larger adventure bikes in the market. Not to mention ang mga boxes nito for carrying luggage like clothes, gadgets, and other items you need for long distance tour in the country. Motorstar surely has another great bike lined up for riders in our country at paniguradong marami
RX3
So guys, the wait is over for it’s now coming here on our shores! Sooo excited sa adventure bike na ito and I hope I’ll be one of the first owners of the Zongshen RX3. Watch out for this bike’s review on our next issue!
This Adventure Bike from Zongshen really rocks
Gwapong-gwapong head styling
Adventure bikes are the much larger types of motorcycles, they have powerful engines that can bring you to any riding adventure you wish to be at... Oh, how can I get one of these?! My questions has been answered, thank God! The very new Zongshen RX3 is now out in the market and headed for our shores!
Aggressive tail light design
A brand from China that packs the much needed quality for rider confidence, plus the affordable price that can make anyone smile. The RX3 Adventure bikes may not have an engine as powerful as the BMW’s or the KTM’s, but the 250cc single cylinder engine with SOHC 4 valve that produces 25horse power at 9000 rpm and 22Nm at 7000 rpm, can give enough power to propel you to places you wish

King DJ Logan’s Safety Riding Tips Carlo was a very precarious child who loved to either backride in his Dad’s motorcycle, or(unknown to his family) traverse his BMX bike alone from his house in Paranaque all the way to Makati.Such was his insatiable thirst for adventure, something he never outgrew until decades later when he became known as King DJ Logan of FM radio. King DJ Logan (KDL) hosts The Rowdy Empire which airs every Monday to Friday from 6:00 until 9:00PM. KDL is a known endorser of Kawasaki, and he is often seen riding either his Ninja 650 or his Vespa around the metro. “I’d always, ALWAYS rather be riding my motorcycle!” His unquenchable desire for adventure brought him riding to Bicol just last March 2014, for the Kawasaki Roadgasmic Tour. Riding home to Manila, KDL got into a major accident as his bike slammed onto a jeepney along an intersection at Ligao, Bicol. Good thing safety has always been a priority for KDL. Despite his adventurous spirit which gets him into very risky situations, KDL never fails to make sure that he is wearing complete safety gear from head to foot. During that particular accident at Ligao, KDL was wearing his Motoair Airbag Jacket which he bought from his friend all the way from Singapore. “This jacketliterally saved my life! Kung hindikosuotitong
“Your safety is never an option. You ride smart by staying safe, that means wearing all the proper gear all the time.” jacket na to, I would have most probably crushed my neck, spine or ribs upon slamming into a jeepney!” After his Ligao accident, KDL decided to bring the jacket to the country and become the official distributor of Motoair Airbag Jackets, knowing full well how it has saved his life and how it can save the lives of thousands of Filipino riders all over the country. Each Motoair jackets has an airbag bladder attached inside, which automatically inflates when a Rider is thrown off his bike - a cord from the jacket is attached to the bike once mounted, much like a seatbelt in a car. “It is the cheapest insurance you can have when you ride.” says KDL, who never fails to wear his Motoair jacket whenever he rides his motorcycles.
10 www.motorsiklonewsmagazine.com
At present, Motoair is distributing 4 types of airbag jackets – the Xtreme Series, Touring Jacket, High Visibility Vest and the Cool Vest. All jackets come in sizes ranging from Extra Small to 6XL. Interested buyers and dealers may contact MotoairPhilipines at (02) 966-2727; or 0942-8232542. “Basta safety na ang pinaguusapan, you cannot compromise. Safety is the best insurance policy.” says the adventure-seeking KDL, as he twists the throttle, grabs life by the handlebars, and never slowing down…

“I like the Yamaha Scooter, for I have experienced riding one and it’s so easy to operate. Just a twist of the throttle and off you go, and it is very fast! I will get one in the future if ever my parents would allow.”

A
nother great scooter from Yamaha, at sa looks and quality palang siguradong mapapangiti ka sa bawat oras na ito’y iyong sakyan. The new MX-i is now with a radiator for engine cooling. Maganda ang fuel consumption even with power engine displacement of 125cc. And of course, MX and FI are two great advancements that this brand pioneered na ipinapakita ang galing ng Yamaha. It has an intelligent fuel supply system na merong ECU that calculates injection duration and timing based sa mga signals received from the sensors. It highly adjust on changing engine operation sa bawat environment conditions na mas lalong nagiging fuel efficient, responsive at Eco-friendly.
YAMAHA Mio MX-i 125
Ang pagkakaiba ng standard F.I. Sa YMJET-F.I. (Which the MX-i has) ay mas nagbibigay ng more oxygen which in turn produces very fine particles of fuel that’s creating better atomization kahit malamig pa ang makina and was good combustion even at low speed. The MX technology is the benchmark of innovation sa mga motorsiklo which was pioneered by Yamaha na nagbibigay ng best performance under all kinds of conditions, Stability in different range of speed is assured and provides comfortable feeling while in acceleration na talaga namang merong maintained stable engine quality. There are three color variations, yun ay ang blue metallic, black metallic and vivid orange that also have cool graphics. It has aerodynamic cover design, sleek and streamline feel na may emphasis sa stylish na headlight. It’s large capacity luggage is huge and talaga namang kasya ang mga pinakatatago-tago ng mga riders (wallet, yosi, cellphone, condom, etc.). The smart lock system gives great safety features na nagbibigay ng better braking power maging uphill man o downhill. Muscular and sporty muffler is uniquely patterned adapted with carbon fiber para mas-maging masculine and cool looking. The design of the tail lamp has the latest distinctive design making it more futuristic, sporty and brighter in appeal. Mapapansin ang sportier wheels with pin stripe for a more captivating look that well blends sa over
all design ng scoot, the integrated key shutter has a push lock shutter button for anti-theft feature... But we strongly suggest to use chain locks for this scoot kasi iba na ang kakayahan ng mga kawatan. Another great thing about the MX-i’s features eh yung kanyang Smart stand switch, that automatically turn the engine off kapag nilagay mo ito sa side stand for more safety assurance. Riding the Yamaha MX-i for the first time is really fun, matagal na ko nag-scoot pero iba ang feel sa ganda ng handling and performance nito. So comfortable in turns and very agile and maneuverable sa mga gaps in traffic, and maganda ang suspension kahit sa mga uneven roads. Matulin at kayang kaya rat-ratan from 0-80kph and very stable kahit matulin na ang takbo, and in fairness makapit ang gulong nito kaya pwede pa-bankingbanking mala MotoGP. According to the MX-i owner na napaka bait at binigyan kami ng opportunity to have her scoot reviewed, maganda raw ang fuel consumption and very economical for everyday use. Tamangtama ito sa everyday traffic scenario sa atin especially with its size that can go in and out of traffic with ease. For me, I would suggest to keep this bike na stock para mas maganda parin ang handling both engine and ergonomics wise para mas ma-enjoy niyo ang performance ng Yamaha MX-i 125.
Our take: “We at Motorsiklo News highly recommend this scooter, kasi bagay na bagay ito sa lahat ng age group of riders, very economical, fun to ride, great Yamaha quality, and very affordable din. Meron din financing terms you’ll see sa mga motorcycle dealers nationwide.”
“I like the technology especially the fuel injection, also the speed and acceleration that is great for city and long rides. The handling is smooth compared to other bikes I rode. It is comfortable enough that I don’t feel any back pains even in long hours of riding. I also love the “Engine off” feature everytime you put the bike on its side stand. Poncan looks ang Mio MX-i ko, that’s why I gave it a name, “Pheonix”. The best ang quality niya kasi Yamaha.” Mary Anne “Mau” Ulob Owner

HONDA Zoomer X
I say “What the Pack?!”
Gwapo, maganda, macho at sexy... ano bayan?! I want to have this ika nga. Honda again got this one right! Very trendy design and really a looker in traffic. The contours and futuristic feel really is there, at talagang “Wow!” The stylish octagon headlight really makes it look robotic. Para bang may buhay at soul ito na ready to transform into a robot anytime and say “A-E-I-O-U!” The inverted front shocks ay ang kaunaunahang AT bike ever to feature it, na siguradong magbibigay ng optimal cornering and stability, and its mono shock rear gives comfortable passenger ride even for long rides. The Zoomer X has a 110cc engine with PGM-FI injection and air cooling system na nagbibigay ng great fuel consumption and ample power to propel you in every twist ng throttle. Ang 4.4 liters tank capacity is enough for long out of town rides, dahil talaga namang napakatipid ng Zoomer X na ito! Kaka-iba ang U-box compartment ng scooter na ito, because it opens sideways making it more easy to access and look cool at the same time. It may not fit-in a regular size full face helmet but
Meron high-tire tubeless tires that offer better absorption para sa better cornering confidence in every turning situations. The braking is great with its front wheel disc brakes and drum rear, na talagang ihihinto ka kapag may tumawid na aso sa gitna ng daan, at mga lasing na pasuray suray sa kalsada. The Zoomer X have 2 available colors at yun ay ang Nitric Orange and Textites Black Metallic. Good and stable on top speed and okay naman ang roll kahit nasa
100kph nako when I entered SLEX exiting the Nichols service road. The whole body is intact at wala kang maririnig na kahit anung annoying loose materials while you ride through the uneven roads, at smooth ang suspension kahit na sa bigat ko. People stare at you na para bang nakasakay ka sa Ducati, and see them smile habang tinitignan nila ang Zoomer X. Napaka-nimble, at very maneuverable at kayang-kaya lumusot sa traffic. It was really fun riding the Honda Zoomer X, and siguradong safe ka sa quality nito... Galing!
Our take: “Kudos Honda! Siguradong bibili ako nito someday at to all those planning to get this scooter, promise ang gwapo, ganda, napaka-tipid, at ang galing!”
“I like the engine for it’s equipped especially for city riding, and I have topped at 100kph and that speed is enough for me. It is great in corner turns and banking and I really love the handling, and the suspensions really gives great cushioning even sa mga uneven roads and potholes. The inverted front suspension is a great “plus factor” and the balloon type tires are safe enough in bad road conditions. Spacious under compartment which is very okay for me. I am very satisfied with the quality of the Zoomer X and it is also easy to customize. Easy and light handling and comfortable ride is its advantage.” Christopher Manuel “Topette” S. Ongoco Owner
Motorcycle Price: P86,000
“Amongst all the scooters out on the roads I see everyday, this scooter is big for its size and it looks very comfortable to ride on as well. I can ride this bike as a passenger anytime, even when we go out on a gimmick night, and all I need to have is someone who can drive it for me in case I do get a Kymco Super 8.

A
nother fine scooter from Kymco at ito ang Super 8 (150cc), kung ang predecessor nito na ang well-loved Kymco Super 8 (125cc) ay tinangkilik ng marami nating mga kababayan dahil of course sa quality, looks and performance... sure na tatangkilikin din ito, dahil more refined version, mas bago, at may 150cc engine. The new Super 8 is more sport-looking and has a more powerful engine. The single cylinder, 4 stroke, air cooled SOHC 150cc gas CVT engine is very responsive at sadyang napakatulin! It can make your adrenalin rush sa bawat squeeze mo ng gasolina at kayang umarangkada dire-diretso hanggang 100kph without trouble. The body is large compared sa ibang scooters sa market but sobrang stable at all speed, eliminated ang wind drag
The fairings are so matibay judged by the quality at the touch, na talagang hindi bibigay nalang basta sa mga spills or drops and even sa changes ng environment. The instrument cluster and speedo gauges are very readable, maging tanghaling tapat man o dis-oras ng gabi. Ergonomically designed ang mga switches for ease of operation, na you just need to feel with both hands. The headlights are more prominent at talagang nagbibigay ng liwanag sa dilim at kataasan ng araw, for more traffic visibility. The brake lever is crisp and very smooth in every squeeze of the hand. Ang mga turn signal lights ay maliwanag at talagang kita sa bawat intentions mo to turn, brake lights are very visible at maasahan mong laging operational sa bawat pag-preno mo, and the same goes to the tail light’s functional use. Syempre, scooters are known sa carrying space like mga bags and other stuffs, the underseat compartment is spacious, kasi kasya ang half face helmet dito and pwede pa isak-sak ang cellphone at wallet mo sa loob.
Both tires are wide and fat para sa magandang pag-lapat sa kalsada, so ang mga banking turns ay easy and guaranteed, and makes it even fun to ride on uneven roads. A great scooter that you can use daily, at syempre pang byahe out of town with very thrifty fuel consumption, you will certainly enjoy riding the all new Kymco Super 8 150cc.
Our take: “We all agreed that this scoot really is worth your hard earned cash.
“I like the upgrade of the engine displacement from 125cc to 150cc. The acceleration is fast and it tops at around 120kph, and I love the ride handling on straights and curves. With its new cosmetic looks that really differ from the 125cc version, this new Scoot really rocks! Headlights are LED already and it is of A1 quality. Very recommended ride for big guys like me, because of its size and handling plus the dependable wide tires. Great, great Scoot for me! Leonard Dumandan Owner

Last May 4, 2014, an event to kick start a series of gatherings for motorcycling enthusiasts was held in Megatent Libis. The program kicked off with acknowledgements and introductions of participating clubs presidents and was handed tokens of appreciation for roaring into the fun of the event. After which the Guest Speaker for this wonderful event was called upon, Mr. Milencio Aquino, He then discussed a lecture about riding with safety measures and have also given some smooth riding tips in which the audience have enjoyed. Later that day, one big raffle was initiated wherein 13 brand new motorcycles, 7/11 gift certificates and ten newly published Motorsiklo News Magazines were amongst its fabulous list of prizes. Celebrity guests excites the event even more, all of which were from the late night show of Kuya Germs’ “Walang Tulugan.” The guests made sure the day was fun for the riders with their own style of entertainment. Another raffle was inserted in the program but now hosted by one of Philippines’ biggest oil brand “Phoenix oil”. Outside the event place, the organizers placed a track for riders to participate in a friendly circuit competition. There were close to 30 motorists who were very eager to test their skills on track. All participants were given tokens for participating. What is a motorcycle show without them hot ladies? To add more heat, they were also suckers for motorcycles. A program for these ladies was also part of the event, but not to test their track time but their talents in... dancing. Phoenix oil was generous to shell out more than the winner’s prizes but everyone was given gifts of appreciation. CHAMMP’s motorcycle event was indeed a success. The organizers made sure everyone in attendance; enthusiasts, walk-ins, spectators, motorcycle clubs, riders, sponsors went in excited and went out hungry for more. “David and Goliath” is a very well known story na mababasa natin sa Bible, ang maliit contra sa dambuhala na nagsasabing hindi porke maliit ka ay wala kang maiibubuga. We all know how the story ended, kung saan nagwagi si David against the terrifying giant Goliath. Almost all Bikers loves bigger motorcycles kasi nga naman macho looking and intimidating sa daan, with of course power and speed that can turn anyone’s head while it rides by. We also know that biggies are not always for everyone. I, for a fact believe na hindi kailangan malaki ang motor para sabihing ika’y macho o maging angat sa iba, sapagaka’t kahit ang mga physically smaller bikes can turn heads the same way as big bikes do in traffic. Imagine a 5-foot rider riding a big bike/ tall bike, paano na sa traffic jams and stop lights? Malamang hirap na hirap sila itayo ang motor habang naka-hinto or dyahe naman kung magsuot pa ng heels at elevator shoes just to compensate diba?
43 www.motorsiklonewsmagazine.com
I am not being rude to smaller riders kasi di rin naman ako katangkaran, I’m just saying that even a small motorcycle can bring out the adrenalin punch that you can get sa mga bigger bikes, and that kahit sino pwedeng patakbuhin at sakyan ang mga smaller bikes. The new Skygo Pony is a 100cc standard backbone motorcycle, and yes compared to the underbones and scooters, this motorcycle resembles big bike looks at a much smaller package. It is quite big enough not to mistake it for a pocket bike, and talagang gwapo rin kapag mamasdan especially sa naked bike looks nito. It’s fast and has strong engine that can accommodate even the heavy bikers with their back rides. Matipid sa gas and maintenance, at kayangkaya ang everyday riding commute and kaya rin ang mga long distance travel thanks to its large fuel tank. Its maneuverable, agile and very comfortable to ride making this bike a must have. “Bakit nga ba wala pa ko nito?!” imagine the convenience in owning this bike. Pati sa mga tight parking spaces siguradong kasya ito and napakadaling paandarin lalo na kapag kailangan mamalangke, bumisita kay Babe, pumunta sa mall and bumiyahe sa Tagaytay.

“The topspeed I got was only at 80kph but I feel it can go up to 100kph, but acceleration is at the point. Super cute, super ganda gamitin, super smooth pa and so easy to ride. Amongst my other motorcycles, this is my favorite bike and fuel economy is great. It is a mini-big bike for me, but the only disadvantage is that it doesn’t have a ‘push start button’ but everything else is great!”

CLUB RIDES
club rides of the month
SZ Riders of Cebu We all started as members of a Manila created Facebook page.
Then there was a clamor among Cebuanos to create our own group. Wolfgang Chua and Rey Ramas got the ball rolling by creating our very own FB page (www.facebook.com/groups/sz16ceburiders/). People then started joining in whether by invitation or simply discovering us on fb.
We got started September 27, 2013, when we did our first meet and greet. During that meeting, we decided on the name of the group, logo, membership hierarchy and upcoming activities. Attendees of that first meeting which we now called the First batch instead of founders were:
1. Ryan Belleza 2. Ronald Descartin 3. Wolfgang Chua 4. Rey Ramas 5. Jeffrey Gumawid 6. Mark Anthony Sarabia 7. Noel Briones 8. Bob Ward 9. Clyde Sudario
46 www.motorsiklonewsmagazine.com
These 9 gave birth to what we call now as SZ Riders of Cebu. We then had a series of meet-ups/ bonding moments leading to our very first official ride which was held last October 12-13, 2013. We headed South of Cebu all the way to Oslob and then spent the night over at Alcoy. Over food and drinks, we have realized that we are just not club members but have become family in the short span of time that we have spent together. A strong indication that this club will surely stand the test of time.
As of today, we have about 200 members in our FB page. We are coming up with strategies to invite more SZ owners in Cebu to join us. Hopefully as we become known in the community, we will become one of Cebu’s formidable motorcycle clubs. Bacolod Ride March 30-31, 2014. 17 Motorcycles and 25 people of SZ Riders of Cebu goes to Bacolod. Once I was in traffic and it was raining hard, my car’s windshield all foggy and only lights from the jampacked congested cars were all I could see. My radio played cool music that tends to lessen the stressful driving conditions that a traffic jam makes. Horns of different tones shattered the night, as vehicles fought for the mere inches of space. I thought I was lucky to be stuck in traffic inside the comfort of my car, as compared to the poor commuters outside. All drenched in rain water trying desperately to get under their large umbrellas.
The only moving objects that rainy night were motorcycles. Riders ride through the traffic gaps like fast moving insects flowing through tight spaces. The hard downpour doesn’t even bother to slow them down, like professional X-games athletes on an obstacle race course. Damn! They will all get home in time for the telenovelas, while I’m stuck here for hours. Motorcycles of different types passed by my car, some solo riders, others in tandem, and even 3 persons on a bike came cruising by. I thought I counted hundreds of them already. Their raincoats sure are useful, for they ride effortlessly in the rain. The hard rain looks as though it was never gonna stop and I might get caught in heavy floods on my way home, for flooded streets are very common on rainy days. I wondered, will it be more convenient to commute to work this rainy season, or do I just wait it out in traffic everyday inside the comfort of my car? Damn! I would need to buy myself a good raincoat. Sure, I did get home after 2 hours after getting stuck in traffic for a mere 6 kilometer drive. My back hurts so bad that I still felt it waking up the next morning. Hmmm... It’s still raining today, but softly though, I know it will pour down hard again tonight and PAGASA will confirm my prediction. Holding on to the
50 www.motorsiklonewsmagazine.com
keys of both my motorcycle and car, I stood there in my room trying to decide what i would use to bring me to the office and back... Well, I chose the motorcycle. I am now putting on my gears and place my raincoat on top of them, I neatly placed my things inside a plastic bag and put it in my bag. The plastic will help if ever rain water did get through my ballistic backpack, my things will still stay dry. True enough, the rain started to pour down hard and visibility I know, will fall down to 50% and I will be riding blind. My helmet’s visor claims to be antifog and it looks safe enough to use under hard rain conditions. My gloves are pure leather and will be fit to wear in the rain. My motorcycle by the way, is a standard backbone type, a dual sport all condition bike that can be used on rugged terrain, and in all weather conditions as the brochure say. I rode out my garage and immediately the hard rain greeted me, as if it was expecting me. Ha-ha-ha-ha! now i know my helmet’s visor is not fog-free as when the rain waters hit hard on it, visibility indeed went down 50%. I thought I made the wrong decision of not taking my car to work, but instead of blaming nobody-nobody but me, I tried to ride it out, for I will be late for work and i cannot afford another work offense for it
surely will reflect on my annual bonus. Just a few meters away from my house, ankle-deep rain flood water is right on my path. Well, my bike can handle this, piece of cake! My Crocs shoes are now soaked in rain water and it’s a good thing my leather shoes is in the office. My rain gear is holding though but I can still feel the desperate attempts of rain water trying to sip through inside it. Now, the obstacle ride begins as I now reach the point of traffic. I never did ride my bike in such hard weather conditions like this, so maybe that’s why I found it hard riding my bike through traffic gaps that other motorcycle riders so easily, swiftly and effortlessly do. I thought, they sure are experts by now for riding those bikes everyday. I reached the office basement parking with plenty of time to spare, but I am so drenched that i felt so cold. I removed my rain gear, my safety gears, and motorcycle jacket. Sure enough, the rain won! because everything is soaked in rain water. My polo barong underneath all those gears appeared to be dry, with just some wet portions (I thought will dry once I get in the office). My office pants’ all wet by the ankle but thanks to my rain pants I wore on top, it saved my butt from getting wet. My pants though is muddy and dirty, because of the splashes of flood waters. I thought maybe I did not buy the right rain coat, so I decided to get a new one come lunch break.
I hurried down to where the elevator was and saw our maintenance guy with his wet helmet strapped around his arm. Hey! It appears you got here faster than the rain, you’re damn lucky you didn’t get wet. “I just got here Sir, it was really raining hard though” he said in reply. How come you’re so comfortably dry? I asked and he told me he was wearing a rain coat that traffic enforcers and soldiers wear. Those are the type of raincoats worn like a cloak that stretches down to your shin, “Ponchos.” Wow! Your pants are all dry compared to mine, I have my pants’ laylayan all wet. Sir, my ride is a scooter that’s why I can shield my feet from the flooded street splashes. So that’s why your feet are all clean from mud! Yup, they’re just wet but clean. Hey, can I borrow your scooter at lunch break? I will get myself a rain coat like yours if you don’t mind? I said to him and he agreed. Lunch break came, I went down the basement parking and borrowed his scooter. It was a good thing the rain stopped and gave me a free dry ride going to the nearby mall at about one and a half kilometer away. I went to ACE hardware and get myself that “Poncho” rain coat. There were things running through my mind the very moment I got to the mall’s parking lot.
That was a pleasant and cool ride! I said to myself referring to the scooter I borrowed. It was the first time I rode a scooter that doesn’t run on 2T. No white smoke to envelope your body while on a stop with a much smoother engine that is really comfortable and easy to ride - plus the maneuverability is fantastic! Now, I know why scooterriders still feels fresh even on long rides, for I have been to group rides out of town with friends riding scooters. Now, I am standing at the ACE hardware’s cashier line and I still kept thinking of the scooter’s incredible ride. Power, maneuverability, comfortable riding stance, easy maintenance, CVT which eliminates the need to change gears, and of course, the ever reliable u-box. I rode back to the office wearing a grin on my face because the scooter did give me a sense of fun, which is very addicting. So easy and comfortable, I swiftly slice through traffic gaps with ease. Handing over the scooter’s key to the owner, I immediately felt I have to get myself a scooter. Reading reviews about the latest scooter models in the internet and the endless test rides of scooters, gave me more appreciation about this motorcycles.
A month passed by and I now have my own scooter, a new Suzuki Skydrive with a 125cc engine capable of propelling me from 0-100kmh in just a few seconds. It really did give me the ride satisfaction I have been looking for on a motorcycle. Sure enough, everyone wants to own a Sports Bike and ride the asphalt like crazy, satisfying the adrenalin living in our veins, but riding scooters gave a different sense of euphoria. It’s really unexplainable but riding one can justify why riders never ever want to let go of this bike. I took it on long rides and incredibly, I still feel great and not even stressed out. My riding shoes and pants are clean of road debris. My wife loved the cushion of the pillion seat and the suspension makes me feel like I’m hovering over the ground. So fast and swift it can leave almost anything in traffic from stop to go. The long provincial roads served as playgrounds of speed and adrenalin pumping scenes. The great lean banking on turns that mimics what MotoGP riders does. The fun and the love of ride are much more appreciated. It still has been raining for days but my scooter still gives me the refreshing feeling. I always reach the office excited and fulfilled. The rides going back home is fast. So great, so wonderful, and so economical! what else can I say? Maybe... go get yourself an automatic for it is really fantastic!

DUKE 390 By: Miles Tolentino
As they say “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”
and I bet you’ll all agree sakin kapag sinabi ko na the KTM Duke 390 is a very beautiful beast, right?! This naked sport motorcycle na very sexy and curvaciuosly cool in design packaged with a powerful engine will literally make your jaw drop. A dream bike for most of us lalo na at hindi gaanu kataas ang tindig kaya kayang-kaya sakyan ng mga Pinoy na hindi gaanu nabiyayaan ng taas. A bigger brother of the KTM Duke 200, etong Duke 390 ay pwedeng-pwede na sa lahat ng expressways sa ating bansa and kayangkaya ding tumahi ng daan maging traffic man o rectahan.
58 www.motorsiklonewsmagazine.com
The color and graphics ay typical KTM design layout with of course the more intimidating engine visible for all to see because of its naked look. A real good quality bike na siguradong makukuha mo ang adrenalin packing ride feel that is at the same time very economical for everyday use. The tubular steel frame shouts strenght in its design. Headlight design is aggressive making it blend with aerodynamic lines towards the fuel tank. Wow factor is a 10! The Duke 390cc engine is very powerful dahil na din sa power to weight ratio na kahit 44bhp lang ito compared to the 400cc inline 4’s (Fours) kaya nito makipagsabayan dahil very light, agile and maneuvearble ito. Good ang shifting and very smooth at feel mo under your crotch ang lakas ng hatak ng Four-stroke, liquidcooled DOHC, 4 valve single cylinder engine nito lalo na kapag binabad mo ang acceleration sa mga gears at 7,000rpm. I maybe an adrenalin junkee when it comes to speed but the 180kph top speed of this Duke is okay for me, especially as you see the speed climb through the digital speedo. The fuel consumption ay okay kasi kaya ng 11 liter tank capacity nito ang 210 kilometers of gasoline burning butt ride commute. Confidence will be felt sa oras na sinakyan mo na ang kabayong ito, for even with the strong engine and fast acceleration the Dukes braking power is superb.
The front 1x300mm discs four-piston radial caliper and rear 1x220mm disc, single-piston caliper brakes (ABS) sure will ensure great stopping power at siguradong masarap i-angkas si GF dahil may additional airbags pa para sa likod mo kapag siya’y napasusob sayo sa iyong biglang pagpreno, hehehe. Maganda at makapit ang malapad na mga Metzeler tyres to give you the confidence in every banking turns. The seat height is great for the average Asian kasi kayang ilapat ang mga paa while at stop sa traffic even if you’re short. The Duke 390 is very interestingly easy to ride lalo na sa mga newbie riders kasi you won’t find the weight and size of this bike to be intimidating. So very light and agile for anyone to ride. The monosock suspension is quite at the sporty side so you would feel the sporty ride feel compared to the other standard sports bike that has dual shocks but then again it still feels great on uneven and rough roads of the Metro. The instrument clusters are easy to operate and the speedometer panel is very visible kahit maaraw. This bike was built in India but it sure has the quality of a great brand of motorcycle, who wouldn’t be in love with the KTM Duke 390... wish lang and pray for it is affordable naman for riders who wants to have one parked in his garage.
“This motorcycle is one of a kind, sobrang gwapo! Ang sarap sakyan at gusto ko mag long ride sa Tagaytay on this Duke!

“Riders, in my own view, they are uniformed. They always appear in black or dark jackets and pants. I don’t know the purpose of wearing dark tops and pants but i think it’s clever, because if you wear neon-colored suits, it think it’s weird.”

It has always been a debate
especially in the years that passed kung sino sa Yamaha Sniper MX 135 at Suzuki Raider R150r, ang pinaka-maganda at malupit na underbone motorcycle here in our country. The Yamaha Sniper MX 135 already went through its cosmetics and engine change, while the Suzuki Raider R150r stays practically the same both engine and cosmetics wise. The Sniper MX135 is now equipped with a more powerful engine, plus the added 5th gear that will now be better to go face to face with the Suzuki Raider R150’s engine.
RAIDER
135cc vs 150cc?! Not really an issue, for both machines are considerably fast and agile and can go pass the 100kph speeds. The performance of both bikes will be tested and will be reviewed, no losers here but only winners for both motorcycles came from the best Japanese brands that has excellent craftsmanship and quality. On a regular traffic day, you will chance upon this bikes amongst the hundreds or perhaps the thousands of motorcycles you see that ply the streets of the metro. Compared to the last 3-5 years, you will be seeing more of these models out because of their great reputation which garnered rider following. Though a bit expensive than the regular underbone, this motorcycles spells out pride of ownership to the ones riding them. Having to have specifications that are way off the charts when compared to other motorcycles, and can beat large displacement bikes in twisties sa Marilaque basta magaling ang hinete. Great for track days and everyday street commute, these are exciting bikes to have in front of the stop lights, and will surely give you the adrenalin rush you seek.
We asked

Us: ”Turbo?!” Fast and the Furious lang ang peg hehe. 4.
5. “Raider 150 nalang ako, kasi maporma siya at kilalang-kilala na matulin at kahit yung mga bagong malalaking motor tulad ng FZ at mga Bajaj ay kayang-kaya iwanan ng Raider. Kaya pakikiusap ko sa boss ko na ibili niya ako ng bagong Duke 200!” Us: Ngak! Ang gulo ni Manong!
6. “Parehong panget yan at hindi na uso! Hindi pang-matagalan yan kumpera sa Honda TMX ko... Puro porma at bilis lang ang lakas naman sa gasolina! Saksak-sakan mo nga ng tricycle yan tiyak parang pagong na mga yan. TMX ko kayang kaya ang 160kph, minsan nga sumemplang ako nung nasa 150kph nako eh.” Us: Anung klaseng pagong, Ninja Turtles naman ata? Us: Kulit ni Kuya hahaha!
Random Riders 1. “Raider 150 po boss! Mabilis maporma at pang lalaki, yung Sniper MX kasi mahina makina sabi ng mekaniko ko at mas maganda daw makina ng unang Sniper dun e.” Us: Ganun?! Ok fine. 2. Us: Gulo! 5. “Sniper vs Raider?! Sniper masmaganda ang porma at kahit mabilis pa ang Raider, di naman basta maiiwan ang Sniper, at di lang naman sa bilis ang basehan ng motor e, kung bilis rin lang edi magbig-bike nalang ako.” Us: May punto ka Kuya, at tama naman na hindi lang sa Racingracing ang ganda ng motor. 6. Sniper syempre! Di mo ba nakikitang Sniper MX ang motor ko brod? Us: Hehehe oo nga naman :)
Pulis/MMDA 1. “Raider syempre! Kailangan pa ba itanung sakin yan?! O! Akin na ang lisensya mo at beating the red light ka boss... Patanung-tanung ka pa diyan ha!” Us: Hehehe baka makalusot lang Chief hehe. 2. “Sniper MX kasi Yamaha yan! Sigurado ka sa tibay... Di tulad ng Raider na gawa lang ng Rusi.” Us: Ngak! Us: Bait ni kuya sub 400cc nasa expressway lupet! 4. “Sniper MX, kasi iba gumawa ang Honda siguradong matibay!” Us: Haaayyyy... Isa ka pa nong!
5. “Sa tingin ko match na match ang dalawang yan... Kasi tuwing pinapara namin yan e tinatakbuhan lang kami at hindi namin mahabol!” Us: Hahaha! Yun lang... batuhin niyo nalang ng radio. 6. “Sus! Pare-pareho lang “Under the bone” yan, pare-pareho rin lang ang takbo ng mga yan... Magbi-big bike nalang ako kung ganda at bilis lang ang hanap kesa sa maliit na motor at mahal pa, di ka naman pansinin sa kalsada.” Us: Hmmmm... Us: Hanep, tutubi talaga?! Si Kuya Talaga!”
Car owners 1. “Sniper o Raider ba kamo? Yung Raider naririnig ko na mabilis at malupit daw makina nun... Nakakatakot namang magpatakbo ng maliliit na motor na yan e, kaya maraming disgrasya sa kalye dahil sa blah, blah, blah!” Us: Hater pala si Manong hehehe.
Girls and Babes 1. “My brother rides a Raider and he sometimes tag me along as backride, medyo scary siya angkasan kasi ang bilis and I don’t have anything to hold on to besides my brothers shoulders. Regarding the Yamaha Sniper bike you’re showing me, I think its more classy looking and more comfy to ride I guess... I don’t really care if it’s fast.” Us: Gaaannddddaaaa mo girl!!! Makabili na nga ng Sniper MX! 2. “Yamaha Sniper of course... It looks cool and feeling ko ang cute lahat ng riders nito hihihi.” Us: Asan na ba pinaka malapit na Yamaha store?! 3. “Raider 150r ang type ko, ganyan kasi motorcycle ng crush ko and ng Mister ko” Us: Awwww, naughty ka girl!
Seasoned Riders 1. “Sniper MX pili ko diyan. It’s not because it’s a Yamaha, for we know talagang maganda quality niyan parang Honda, pero kasi pagdating sa technology, handling, and comfortable ride eh mas panalo sa Raider R150r yan. Tipid pa sa gas kesa sa Raider pero syempre talagang matulin talaga ang Raider.”
2. “Maganda yung Sniper, kasi my brother has one and it has great handling and engine response. I use to ride big bikes before, and the Sniper made me feel like riding a motorcycle again. That Suzuki bike looks so unstable.”
Us: So nose bleed naman me to you!
Us: FZ 16 ko ang the best!
3. “Tingin ko Sniper, I love its design and looks macho than that Suzuki Raider.”
3. “Sniper MX is my choice kasi I tried and tested both bikes and mas comfortable ang Sniper and liquid cooled pa, tulin lang talaga sa Raider and sobra lakas sa gas!”
Us: Ayyyy Papa! 4. “Speed, looks... Ala eh, ala akong alam diyan! Pero sige, kung itsura lang at specs ang pagpipilian... Yung Yamaha nalang brod.” Us: Oo nga naman, bakit nga ba nagtanung pako sa mga walang alam sa motor? Puro pagkapeste nga lang pala alam ng mga karamihang driver sa ating mga rider hehehe. 5. “Sniper siguro, kasi yung friend ko iba’t-ibang chicks ang angkas di naman gwapo ang lintik! So I guess its the bike.” Us: Baka naman ma-pera friend mo or may sense kausap.
2. “Speed - Suzuki R150, Handling & Comfort - Yamaha Sniper MX... Pero ang pinakamagandang underbone ay ang Kawasaki Fury ko!”
Us: Nananakit likod ko sa mga comments hehehe. 4. “Parts marami pareho yan, pero sa performance spare parts masmarami pang raider. Raider parin kasi halimaw talaga!” Us: Hahaha... Takaw huli na ang modified bikes! 5. “Speed and thrills! Raider na... Kayang-kaya sumabay sa malalaki” Us: Tama nga! Well, these were the answers we got sa aming mini-survey... Now its our review.
Suzuki Raider R150
Yamaha Sniper MX 135
our take The Raider R150 sure is well known for its speed and durability, garnering respect from Asian riders. But, kahit anung klaseng pang gagaya ang gawin, they can never come close sa lupet ng specs at quality ng Raider R150. No other underbone motorcycle can be as charismatic as the Raider R150 and finding one on the streets ay may automatic respect kang ibibigay sa motor at rider nito. Big bikers admit that the Raider R150 gives the much needed adrenalin boost pagdating sa speed and performance na you look for in larger displacement bikes, and the fact that pwede mo ito gamitin for daily rides. Some riders say na mahirap magpatakbo ng mabilis kapag maliit ang motor, pero ang payo namin ay try to ride the Raider R150 and be amazed with its great handling even at fast speeds.
The Raider R150 is considered the fastest bike in the underbone category. It has a 150cc single cylinder, oil cooled engine, DOHC 4 valve, 6 gear tranny. Its aerodynamic design layout surely assure optimum speed performance and reliable stability. Its 16horse power and light weight chassis gives fast acceleration and top end speed. Claimed top speed of 145kph gives this bike a speed demon reputation, but fuel economy is not as thrifty compared to the other underbone motorcycles in its class, and going through long out of town rides require frequent gas stops due to its small 4.9 Liter fuel tank capacity. Although fast and agile, the braking power is superb thanks to its front and rear disc brakes. All praises lamang ang pwede naming ibigay sa Raider R150, though gas consumption is not at par with its counterparts, no bike can be as intimidating as the Raider and we assure gratifying adrenalin packing rides with this baby. This bike from Yamaha is the best competitor ng Raider R150, maging sa speed, quality, sport bike feel, and handling. Though a few displacement apart, it can go head to head with the beast of the road. The Sniper MX 135 uses a 4 valve 135cc SOHC 5 speed transmission engine that brings smooth low speed performance and comfortable acceleration
feel. At sa kahit anung road condition, it delivers power at all rpm ranges with superior performance. Its DiASIL cylinder has a maintenance free capacity and sobrang tipid ng fuel consumption which is ideal for long rides even with only 4 liters fuel tank capacity, and with its liquid cooled engine, siguradong kayang-kaya ang rectahan sa mga mahahabang daan. Minimal vibrations felt especially at high rpm ranges giving a much comfortable ride. The bike produces around 10 horse power but can surely give you the much needed top end and acceleration speeds fit for the city and the long roads. Top end speeds of 120-130kph, it maybe trailing behind the Suzuki Raider R150 but it surely will never be left behind, and top end speeds only belongs in straight roads and everything are equal with the banking turns we find in the long out of town roads and metro manila roads. Both motorcycles are top of the line in the underbone category and pride of ownership are present, the quality of the brands also speaks volumes. Panalo ka sa dalawang ito, lahat ng hinahanap mo sa motor for every day commute ay sigurado ka dito. Underbones may not be as hot compared to a few years ago because of the emergence of the scooters, entry level sport bikes, and standard backbone class, but seeing these bikes on the roads will still be a thrill, for respect is always given to the best and these two will always be amongst the best of the best in our roads.

GILAS-HONDA Press Release
June 28, 2014 marked one of the biggest partnerships that Honda Philippines Inc. has ever formed– Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) and the players of Philippines’ national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas. Out in the city of Tanauan, Batangas, HPI held a contract signing with the nation’s top sports heroes – LA Tenorio, Japeth Aguilar, and Jimmy Alapag. The partnership between HPI and Gilas Pilipinas involved the launch of Honda’s latest bike, the Honda Wave 125 Alpha. “A powerful bike, matched with a powerful team. A partnership we believe fits the spirit of every Filipino,” said Yasushi Okamoto, the President of HPI. Right after the contract signing, Yasushi Okamoto, toured the Glias players around the manufacturing plant to show how these powerful machines are made; from the stylish contour of the Wave 125’s design to the intricate working of its 125cc engine. The team also got a chance to meet the people on the ground that design, build and sell the bikes. The excitement of the different Honda teams was evident as they all kept cheering and applauding the players that every Filipino has come to idolize and admire. And of course, there was an autograph signing and photo op for the Honda employees with the basketball superstars. Everyone took the opportunity to take their dream selfie, wacky shot, and “Swak sa Gilas Mo” pose with the three players. But what’s better than getting LA Tenorio’s autograph? Playing with LA Tenorio. HPI held an exhibition game, where the Honda employees got the chance to test
their mettle against LA Tenorio, Japeth Aguilar, and Jimmy Alapag. Even President Okamoto joined in on the game. 3’s from Tenorio were answered with layups from the HPI team. Jumpers from Okamoto were countered with dunks from Japeth. It was truly an entertaining treat for all the Honda employees and the press who were present. After a round of shooting hoops, the Glias players headed to Waltermart Tanauan where hundreds of fans were waiting to get a glimpse of their idols. The audience roared as the Gilas players walked up on stage. A group of fans would chant the name of their favorite player while another group would have their phones up to get a chance to capture that perfect photo. Fans lined to get their selfies with the players, autographed memorabilia, and get up close to these sports heroes in the flesh. The meet & greet was a success thanks to HPI’s partners – Motorpro, Abenson, and Waltermart – who made everything possible. The event was capped off with a quick speech from LA, Japeth, and Jimmy where the crowd, still cheering and applauding, clearly couldn’t get enough of their favorite basketball superstars. That Saturday marked the start of a great partnership between a brand that has been loyal to providing Filipinos with excellent products that are a part of their everyday lives and team that continues to inspire the nation to strive for greatness. The top five Gilas players – Mark Pingris, Jimmy Alapag, Jayson Castro, La Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar – make up the roster of the HPI and Gilas Pilipinas partnership.

We had the chance to introduce a new business model motorcycle to our fellow Tricycle drivers and operators nationwide that started last February 27 in Mindoro and ended in Midsayap Cotabato on May 22, 2014. In this series of activity, a total of 2,576 TODA Associations from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were invited to join so CB125 will be properly introduced to its primary users, the tricycle driver community. Honda welcomes the participants with a Fiesta like reception, and a seminar that introduces Honda as a world class company with its internationally used products. With these, they were provided with information about the features of CB125CL including its advantages over other motorcycles in the market. To further educate TODA members, they were taught and given tips on how to choose the right motorcycle depending on its
intended use and the importance of having the precise model specifically for business category motorcycle such as CB125CL so they can take lead on the unit’s Fuel advantage, powerful engine, durability & sidecar ready attachment. Apart from this, the event reiterated Honda’s After Sales program under its Extended Warranty which allows TODA members to avail of a 18 months or 15,000km warranty service whichever comes first and 25 Piso Serbisyo entitlements for the purchase of any Honda Motorcycle through all Honda 3S Shops Dealer nationwide. Honda Dealer Shops also graced the event by answering the queries of participants in regards with the sales package of the CB125CL. To spices up the program, participants were treated to a live band performance and a photo booth to remember the event. To make the event even funner, games and raffle were drawn thus prices and freebies were everywhere for the partakers’ enjoyment. For an extra scoop, TODA were given the
chance to test the supreme performance of the CBR125CL on the actual TEST RIDE of the same with sidecar, where they have seen and experienced first-hand the power and functionality of the motorcycle’s features. The event was concluded by Presidents and Officers of TODA Association and Federation’s commitment to endorse and promote Honda CB125 not only to the TODA community but to their friends and relatives as well. With the overwhelming success of the CB125 TODA Convention Nationwide and the strong turnout of sales in the market, HPI, Honda Dealers and TODA Association nationwide is now working hand in hand to continue the mandate of providing the Filipino customers the best value for money products and services that Honda Motorcycle unceasingly offers. «What is your first impression when you see guys on motorcycles hanging out in gas stations and mall parkings?
OUTGOING
CONFIDENT “Men riding
motor bikes, I consider them as the practical guys. How i perceive them actually depends on the kind of bike they’re riding. In a sense, most of them are practical in terms of saving cost and avoiding the traffic. Although they are much prone to accident. Men riding big bikes are rather full of confidence and exuberating appeal”.
«“Whenever i see riders
“They are cool and outgoing!” «My first impression on guys riding their motorcyle is that they are very masculine, fun to be with, and adventurous.“
CHICK-MAGNET “I’m not into men but I like guys with motorcycles. They look hotter on sport bikes specially when they have safety gears. I like guys obeying traffic rules and know how to respect pedestrians :)”
«“They are hunting Gen Ramos, 20, Nursing Student
STRANGE “I think they are kind of cool but personally, I don’t think it’s that safe and fun when riders are rude”.

hanging around, i can say that they tend to catch the attention of passers by. It’s cool to see guys that have their bikes. But, of course, there are different types of riders, some create bad impressions due to their behavior or a good one, leaving girls fidgety and nervous with a smile on their faces”.

TOUGH “I think they look tough and very manly”.
«Hmmm... My impression is bad, because for me, looking to a group of men with their bikes in a parking area at the mall looks like a gang or someone that will do bad things. Especially those with big bikes. They definitely look “maangas” for me”.
Ella Sioson, 19, Psychology Student
THRIFTY “I think guys riding a motorcycle bike are thrifty, time savers and most of all, brave. Because they can travel a lot farther on a motorcycle for less fuel than driving a car. Time savers because instead of being stucked in a traffic jam when using a car, Jel Advincula, 19 riding a motorcycle gives Psychology Student you more maneuverability in the road. Courageous because given that motorcycles do not have seat belts and air bags, still they take the risk of riding it and be prone to accidents”.

guy on a motorcycle was when i saw Tom Cruise on his movie “Top Gun” on TV. He was so hot and it really took my breath away while he was riding his motorbike. A man riding on a motorcycle looks like they really have a very strong personality and looks like they are a man of character. I believe that a person should be very brave to drive a motorbike, it really takes some courage, motorbikes are like monsters on the streets conquering even the streets of Metro Manila.”
«“Well it depends on the age or how do they look. But more often even if a guy isn’t that much good looking they create that strong character which adds to their personality. And guys riding on streets with friends or in any public places more likely draw attention to the people around them. And personally i would say that if i see them i look for the guy who has the best motorbike according to my taste.”

Partakan Festival: Where all Brands Unite April 19, 2014. It’s the day when all riders from all over the Philippines with different motorcycle brands united at the Pozo Robo Beach, Sta. Ana, Cagayan for the 2014 Partakan Festival. Partakan is a word that came from the word “partak” an Ilocano word for speed. Partakan Festival is the first and only rock and ride festival in the country. This event aims to provide a venue for riders to enjoy and unite and also to promote moto-tourism. The event is headed by Ropali Motorcycles, one of the biggest motorcycle dealership in the country with 120 branches nationwide and distributes brands like Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM, CPI-Taiwan, and Royal Enfield. Partakan Festival was held in the majestic and untouched Pozo Robo beach in Sta. Ana, Cagayan. This beach is the venue of the international show Survivor. The world-famous reality show already used the venue twice, one in the Blood vs Water edition and the second one is the latest installment, the Survivor Cagayan. It’s a 12-14 hour drive to reach Sta. Ana Cagayan, but upon reaching the Pozo Robo beach the tiredness and stiffness experienced from the super long ride will vanish after hearing the sound of waves and feeling the softness of the white sand. The white sand is really cold on the feet and the wind feels so fresh and relaxing. The event challenged riders all over the Philippines to be a survivor. The venue offered campsite for riders to build their tents and enjoy the majestic view in their own tents. Riders who attended also competed in a survivor themed games
like the Honda Balance Beam, KTM Crawl Challenge, Kawasaki Buko Challenge, FDR Tire Challenge, Royal Enfield Snake Challenge, Yamaha Pylon Challenge, and Phoenix Lubricants Fill the Bucket Challenge. Motorcycle clubs with the fastest time for each challenges received Php5,000 pesos while the overall winner Cambio Boys Riding club from Taguig received Php25,000.
Overall, Partakan festival is a great and memorable event for all the attendees. Ropali and its partner Phoenix Lubricant and other sponsors like Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Royal Enfield, KTM, CPI-Taiwan, FDR Tires, KYT Helmet, Globe, Maico Buncio Foundation, and Ural Motorcyles did great in making the Partakan Festival a must see event for other riders. See you again in Partakan 2015.
After the tiring survivor themed games, the more than 1,500 registered attendees where entertained by bands who made the night rocked. There are two local bands from Sta. Ana who started the night followed by the punk-metal Social Cancer band from Cauayan. Also made the night rocked are the Epic band and the reggae band Chongkeys. The highlights of the show are the four famous bands from Manila. Started with the witty performance of Banda ni Kleggy, the audio-filled effects performance for Pedicab, the non-stop jumping performance of 6cyclemind, and to cap the night the ever-entertaining performance of Sir Raymond Marasigan with his band the Sandwich. Partakan Festival also raffled 4 motorcycles and not just ordinary motorcycles but high-end motorcycles like Yamaha SZ16, CPI-Taiwan GRX-R250, Royal Enfield Bullet 350, and KTM Duke 200. For the whole day attendees, including the media attendees are so eager to know who will win the units. In between band performances the raffle was drawn, but not only motorcycles were drawn but also other items like Globe cellphone, KYT Helmet and Shirt, KTM Cap and shirt, and other small items where raffled.

Tag-ulan na naman mga Siklowistas
and no rider would like to ride on heavy rain and mudded streets. We prefer to stay indoors or better yet ride a public transport and commute. But of course fanatics won’t let any weather stop them from riding their bikes, whenever or wherever they want to go. Mostly we do funny things when rain suddenly pours nakikipagunahan tayo makapwesto sa ilalim ng tulay, magsusuot ng raincoat na halos kasama na ang motor, at may nagpapayong pa habang nagmomotor, wow! What really concerns us bikers is the safe ride on streets while raining. Guys there is always a possibility that accidents might happen when you don’t practice safe riding. Advance riders would agree that no such significant change in the manner of driving either on wet or dry streets is required. Here are some suggestions most club members share whenever they are caught on the same situation. Keep your hoovering along the road in constant and at controlled speed. There is no law existing against swerving at open gaps and in fact it is highly encouraged as long as you do it the proper way (Pag hinuli kayo, baka merienda time na). In case there is a need to swerve, control your braking and turning. Apply mo lang smooth acceleration pagkailangan. At minsan may iiwasan kang manhole and potholes kaya tandaan, ang dadaanan - sleepery when wet. Make yourself visible on the road. Wear reflectorized colored raingear and avoid to counter flow if the lane you are in is already on the counter flow. Mahirap yan mga riders, delikado kahit tag-araw. Watch for the level of the road surface. If ever water is already accumulating on the road then better stop for a moment and yield. Bakit? Most of the drivers specially truck and bus drivers tend to focus on the water and not on the pedestrians and us, bikers.
We need to be very careful when around other vehicles. If no choice but to ride under the rain, wait for atleast 15 minutes before you drive. Mostly, streets accumulate oils from vehicles during dry and this will make a slippery surface when wet. Wait until all oil deposits are washed out by the rain before you continue. When driving, position your bike and follow the rear tracks of the car in front of you. This will give you ample braking distance when the car in front suddenly stops, so you still have time to swerve on the side, and also the wheel of the vehicle in front of you will tend to clear the water and oil deposits while moving. Ok diskarte natin ano? Meron pa! Avoid too much action when riding. Huh? Ano ba ito? Tuwang-tuwa tayo dyan without us knowing it. We tend to add speed when negotiating turns, we downshift before a stop, and sometimes transfer our weight and accelerate na parang motoGP rider. Naku, avoid daw natin yan. Be aware and cautious to the other motorists’ driving behavior by observing their movement, and before you even squeeze through, you must see to it that the vehicles you are in between with would know your intension to roll through. So be sure you have enough space to stop. Be courteous enough to wave your hand or nod your head to say “Thank you”. Di ba ok kung courteous ka? Ndi mapapansin guys kung umuulan so practice natin ito. Better to keep yourself warm enough so use proper gears. Remember, good defensive riding skills spells safety and more joyous rides for all of us. Enjoy the rainy days riding Siklowitas!

FAST PACK GEARS for Long and Safe Rides words by: Rednax
Riding a motorcycle for long trips demands more preparation compared to a car. We riders are exposed directly from dirt, strong winds, rain, and possible injuries open road will hit at us. Long ride requires a certain amount of discipline and logistical planning, but part of the joy of the journey is the process – planning, preparation, and execution.
Planning
Since Philippine weather is unpredictable, bring clothes appropriate for the weather. You don’t want to bring your cabinet with you right? Light and quick dry garments are the best way to go.
Plan your route, enjoy the ride, so bring a map with you or better yet a portable GPS system. Do whatever it takes not to get lost – even if you spend minutes interviewing any person you pass by and ask the same question over and over. That’s an adventure!
Touring suits are excellent with this kind of rides, and when preparing your clothes, pack in several thin layers rather than a few thick ones. I usually pack on a per day need and an extra pack for emergency needs.
Prepare Bring lots of bite size snacks and energy bars. We usually call it trail mix and water pack. Nourishment will come in handy and keep your riding skills sharp in case you get hungry or thirsty while far from convenience stores or gas stations. Full sized meal will make you sleepy and of course not all convenient stores are convenient for you to visit when it comes to their rest rooms and concentrate, grrr.
Execute
Equip yourself well. Wear a full-face helmet that will give maximum protection against accidents and from the elements on the road. A touring jacket like Motoaire” (the best!!!) and your ever trusted riding shoes and gloves.
Make your ride in correct pace while travelling. Don’t ride long hours in a day since it will affect your reflexes or decision making ability. Where is the fun in that!?
Get an idea of costs of the different attractions they will be visiting, and can then budget accordingly. Costs for fuel and accommodation can be planned in advance. When packing always put heavier, more solid items on the bottom and lighter items on top. Bungee bags or sack bags are good alternatives to saddle bags or tank bags in case you do not have any.

Long riding is enjoyable when you’re with friends who came prepared to ride with you. It’s fun, safe, and stress free when you’re prepared. Happy riding Siklowistas!
cover girl Miles is a very beautiful and intelligent young professional, who can handle stressful situations gracefully. Her role in our magazine makes her even more productive as an individual who is into fashion. All her workload in sales and event hosting makes her more alluring and intimidating to guys who she mesmerized everyday in field and play, not to mention the long tiring make-up sessions of models for photo/video shoots. She is infact a certified Siklowista for she loves adventure and motorcycles, making her a total-packaged-biker chic!
GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HER THROUGH THIS 10 QUESTIONS If you could be an animal, which one would you be? Hmm…If I could be an animal, I want to be a bird. Any type of bird but not the “Vulture” ones. Creepy yun eh! Bird because I want to fly high and free and to explore things in beyond. Us: ipis ayaw mo? Nag “Fly” din naman yun ah! Hehehe
What do you do during your free time? During my free time, we always have our family bonding/ date. Most of the time, I’m with my mom for the girly things. Another, I often hangout with my friends and I always enjoy being with them. I also spend my time with my boyfriend, we always find time together and have our facetime moment. Usually, Siya ang free time ko. Oohh... I so love to be with them! Us: Diba sabi mo love mo si Daniel Padilla?!
What kind of girl are you? (sporty, girly, ect.) Definitely, I’m a fashionista. I love to dress at my best. I also love dressing others. I am very passionate with regards to make-up and girly things. Very adventurous din ako. I really love to travel most especially with my boyfie. I like badminton kahit hindi ako like nito. So I guess, I might be a sporty type of girl na din. Haha! Us: You forgot to say “Chismosa!” hehehe
Miles Tolentino Marketing Manager / Model - Motorsiklo News Magazine
Do you enjoy watching sports? My boyfriend is into weights and basketball. My dad and brothers also love basketball, so sometimes I watch NBA and PBA games because of them.
What is your idea of a “perfect date”? For me, perfect date is just being with the person you love and loves you regardless of the place and its ambiance. Even if it is simple, both of you can make the most of it because you’re with the “perfect date”. Us: Talaga lang ha!
What do you like about bikers? Actually, I got interested to bikes because of my parents, especially my dad. He loves motorcycles a lot. I’m always the passenger of my dad or even my mom. So in my own view, Riders are very adventurous and fun to be with. Well, since my boyfie is not a rider/biker, I hope he will have an interest to it, so I can be his passenger.
Are you adventerous or dull? I’m more of an adventurous type rather than dull. As much as possible I don’t want a single dull moment in my life. I always love to be happy and live life to the fullest. Us: sabagay walang tatalo sa bibig mo kasi walang dull moment sa kadaldalan mo, hehehe...
What is your personality like? I am very sweet, hardworking and a family oriented person. My family is the one I can’t live without. I always want a fun and happy environment and enjoys being with my friends. Us: oo nga, yan si Miles.
Do you believe there is one person for everyone? Of course! I and my boyfriend is the perfect example of that. Haha! Us: haaayyy... Sige na nga.
Do you believe in love at first sight? Love at first sight?! Hmmmm… Based on my experience, yes I believe in love at first sight. Besides, I’m sure most of us do believe in this, especially girl like me. Us: enough said!

Rider’s Confession GROUP RIDE QUICKY Ako po ay isang Rider na itago niyo nalang po sa pangalang “Engelbert the Flirt”, I am a member of one of the largest motorcycle clubs sa Metro Manila, di ko na po babangitin ang pangalan ng grupo for credibility purposes :) Our club recently had a long weekend ride sa Sagada mountain province at mga around 15 Riders, with mga syotang back riders na angkas sa bawat motor. I was tasked to be the ride Marshall kaya ako ang taga-check sa buong grupo as we ride to our destination. Making sure lagi ako na walang maiiwan sa group while we ride and dapat everyone is accounted for. Sobrang haba ng ride hours and medyo ramdam ko na kailangan ko na mag stop, flex my back and of course mag yosi with my back rider “Jenny” (not her real name to protect her from her B.F. na kasama sa club namin). Ma-puno, makulimlim (sobrang grey and horrifyingly-scary), tahimik at walang kahit hayop manlang sa lugar na ito, and it’s only 4:30 pm! Mapapa-yosi ka talaga! About Jenny nga pala, she had an argument with her B.F. (who again is part of our club and one of our officers hehe), so she had to come with us sa club ride na ito even without him. She really wanted to come daw kasi to experience Sagada. It was her first time kasi makakarating dito pero sa kasamaang palad e ayaw ng BF niya, for he planned to go to Batangas to be with his family. Hmmmm... kaya pala siguro sila nagtalo.

Wow! How could anyone be so sexy? Blessed talaga si Jenny lalo na sa kanyang boobsie doo! down to her body fit sleeveless white shirt na plunging neckline pa, exposing her wonderful cleavage. “Syet na malagkit!” I said to myself, as I tried looking away from the beauty in front of my eyes. “Anyare? Bakit nahirinan ka?!” sabi ni Jenny while I was still grasping for air. “Ikaw kasi e, nabigla ako sa ganda ng katawan mo!” (Ngak! Hindi ko malaman kung bakit ko nakayang sabihin sa kanya yun?) “Really? You find me sexy?!” sabi niya sakin... Another puff of smoke sa aking yosi and I replied, “Oo naman!” sobrang swerte nga ng BF mo sayo nho :) She smiled back at me habang pinapahiran niya ng panyo ang kanyang leeg. “Kiss and tell ka ba?” she asked me, as I again puffed smoke from my yosi... “Hindi nho!” Ma-respeto ako lalo na sa mga girls (habang kumakamot ako ng ulo)... A moment of silence filled the now dark spot and bigla nalang sinabi niya na... “Halika nga sa tabi ko” parang maamong aso ako ay lumapit. Naramdaman ko nalang na para bang humigpit ang leather pants ko habang ako ay papalapit sa kanya. All of a sudden we found ourselves kissing each other. I took her from behind and she was really into it... Sobrang ganda at kinis niya and I played with her kapos palad boobsies... She was really horny at lagi niya ako tinatanung kung nasasarapan ako sa kanya ng paulitulit. Naka-kapit siya sa manibela ng motor ko and it seems even my bike was making love to her. Naisip ko pa na napakaswerte ko at patulan ako ng napaka-gandang dalaga, she moaned as I felt na she climaxed na, and it was my turn na. Still on my riding jacket and only my
pants down, I strode like a stallion while caressing her half naked body, “heto na!” sabi ko sa kanya, for I was about to come, nang biglang... “May parating!” she said as she quickly pulled up her pants. “Badtrip!” I said to myself, as I quickly pulled up my leather pants while my juice came dripping all over it. “Ouch! “ my zipper caught the skin of my Pedro! but wala ng time pa para ma-adjust dahil palapit na samin ang pa-parating na motorsiklo. It was a good thing na nakita kagad ni Jenny ang headlights ng paparating na motor, and to our surprise it was Jenny’s BF! “Jenny! Engelbert!” He shouted pagkahubad niya ng kanyang helmet. “Buti nalang naabutan ko pa kayo dito” sabi ni BF habang papalapit siya samin ni Jenny. I tried desperately to feel no pain as I struggled not to show sa mukha ko na ipit na ipit na si Manoy sa zipper ko, at pagkalagkit-lagkit pa dahil sa sumabog na gatas ko sa pants and brief. “Yehey!” Jenny said as she came and

hugged her BF so tightly na para bang walang nangyari samin earlier. “Akala ko matitiis mo na ko e!” she said and gave him a passionate kiss... “Ikaw pa!” Alam mo naman na love na love kita nho! He said back. “Pa-yosi naman pre!” sabi ng BF niya sakin. I gave him a stick, hopped on my bike and waved them goodbye, still feeling the intense pain in my crotch. “Thanks pre! kita nalang tayo sa taas” he said to me as we waved each other goodbye. I rode up the road na clear sa kanilang sight para ayusin ang pagkaka-ipit ng aking alaga, at nang mayos ko na... “haaaaayyyyyy... A Ride to Remember By: Stella Molabola
This segment tackles anything and everything about a Rider’s unforgettable experience. Stories that we could be able to share to our readers. And for this issue, we want to tell a story about a paranormal experience told to us by a friend.
We’re all aware of ghosts, and that they exist regardless if you believe it or not. Here’s a spine tingling story that will capture your imagination, and hopefully, won’t stop you from riding alone during the night hours. Buwahahahaha!
B
atangas is a common destination for people who wants to go to the beach. It’s about a hundred kilometers away from Manila, motorcycle riders usually go there to spend time with their family and friends. On April 2012, a group of riders, Bert, Bob and Matt together with their wives, Letty, Tonette and Lorna and their friend Roman decided to visit Taal Batangas. Roman was very eager for the trip for it was an opportunity to test his new motorcycle and have it out for breakin. They all met at a gasoline station at 5am. They ate breakfast and planned their itinerary for the one-day trip. They rode by some great sceneries along the way and it really was fun doing the trip on motorcycles. A few hours passed and they now reached their destination, which was Bert’s family rest house, at around 10am. Once there, the girls went to the market to buy food to cook for lunch, while the others were already swimming at the beach. The boys decided to drink 1-2 bottles of cold beer for socials before the sun set. All were having fun when they realized that it was already 6pm. They decided to pack-up and ride home. It was bout 9pm when they hit the road. It was a very dark night and the only light luminating the road was from their motorcycles. Eiree silence envelops them and the only sound they hear are the bikes’ mufflers and rustling tree branches. Everything
was okay until they reached the middle part of the dark turning roads. The girls were very cautious, once in a while they look from side to side to check up on their companions. Letty was also checking on Bert’s driving, for she fears that he might fall asleep because of the beer they had earlier. She always look at her sides and glimpse far behind to check Bert and Roman. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind touched Letty’s face but the full face helmet’s visor was closed and that made her wonder. Letty shouts at Bert “naramdaman mo un?!” and Bert answered... “ang alin?” and she said “never mind, just drive safely.” She tried to calm herself but after a few minutes, she again felt the wind inside her helmet. This time, she decided to signal to her girlfriends and waved at them, but her action went unnoticed. She kept on waiving when suddenly, all of them turned their heads towards her, and what she saw shocked her. She saw all their faces with blood dripping inside their helmets down to the neck, and they were all looking at her with red evil eyes. Letty cannot believe what she was seeing which made her shout at the top of her lungs. She kept tagging her husband but to no avail, so she checked on their side mirror to see if Roman was ok. The sight she saw terrified her, a woman was hitched on Roman’s motorcycle. 99 www.motorsiklonewsmagazine.com
She cannot believe her eyes since Roman was riding alone. Letty closed her eyes and prayed that it was all just her imagination... but the moment she opened them, chills went down her spine. Letty was shaking, the woman ghost on Ramon’s pillion had put her arms around him and stared at her. Letty was sure of what she saw and she knew that someone or something was playing with her. She looked down, prayed, and hoped that they will soon reach their destination. She cannot remember how long it was until she heard the sound of people talking and vehicles passing. At last, they were on the main road and now she felt safe. She told her husband and their friends about the incident, and they all were doubtful but Roman told them that he felt heaviness on his shoulders when they were riding at the turning roads, as if someone was leaning on his back. They all prayed before leaving, and were all shaken up. As for Letty, she’s still having goosebumps just by telling this story.

Mark from Angeles had highly modified Wave that could shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at 65kph. After he installed the “Clean Turbo” he was able to shift from 2nd to 3rd at 90kph.
Sgt. Balahadia liked the “Clean Turbo” so much that when his intake manifold broke and had to be replaced, he called stating that his mechanic had broken his “Clean Turbo” and his bike was slower, used more fuel and wanted another installed.
Amado had tried the “Clean Turbo” in his Jeepney on his route from Alabang to Biñan and loved it so he had a “Clean Turbo” also put in his Toyota turbodiesel SUV, his Mitsubishi L300 van and his Kawasaki Fury above.
Deck’s 50cc scooter was anaemic at best. When he would open the throttle it sounded louder, but took a long time to accelerate. After we installed the “Clean Turbo” he went for a test ride. A long test ride... When he returned, he shook his head and said “I need new brakes.” because the bike was so much quicker.
This happy guy is a guard at Mary Help of Christians Don Bosco church - a national shrine in Paranaque. His performance went up enough that his bike is faster and he no longer has to downshift to go up hills.
