With this, Honda had prepared an on the spot friendly competition which supplements the rider’s excitement. Fresh from the Trail Ride, the group went straight to Biketoberfest, an event celebrating Cebuano’s love for motorcycle. HPI pampers

its riders to a sumptuous buffet at dinner, provided raffle prizes and freebies and awarded Certificates of Participation expressing HPI’s profound gratitude to this group of amazing Honda patron. Honda Trail Ride at Cebu City was a great success and it doesn’t end here.

Sissies need not apply. The toughest motorcycle challenge ever in the Philippines, the 2015 SpyderMotorally, powered by Petron is not for the faint of heart. Covering a distance of 1000 miles (1609 kilometers), seasoned riders are expected to travel through the potholes and smog of the Metro, the endless stretches of the provincial highways of Maharlika and National Road, the treacherous tracks of mountains passes of Aritao and Naguilian. Through the light of day and the dark of night, weathering the scorching sun and the cold of rain, they would have to do it within the confines of a 24 hour period. The 2015 Spyder-Motorally is now headed up by Spyder, one of the leading brands of eyewear and helmets. With the institutionalization of the event in the previous years, the riders are rest-assured this 2015 of a more fun and more fulfilling experience.

The Spyder-Motorally participants are set to blaze the roads on February 21 to 22, 2015. Starting at the riderfavorite Sierra Madre Resort along Marcos Highway in Tanay, the send-off for the sub400cc riders are set to start at 12:00mn (first second of Feb 21), a 6 hour head start from the above 400cc displacement bikes who will start at 6am of the same day. The start time difference between the two displacement categories will be equalized by the above 400cc bikes’ ability to utilize the expressways SCTEX, NLEX and SLEX where in the end, the finish time of both is set at 6am of Feb 22. 150 slots are allotted for each category. The briefing will be on February 8, while the awarding ceremonies for finishers will be held on March 8, both on Sunday morning to be held also at the Sierra Madre Resort. To join, participants need only register on or before January 31, 2015 with a P2,500 fee and the accompanying required forms. Finishers will be given fuel and other awards for completing the challenge but more than anything, their reward will be a personal bragging right of being able to complete the toughest endurance challenge of the country to date. Powering the event by providing nothing less than the best fuel for the finishers is Petron. As Petron has hundreds of gas stations located nationwide, they will serve not only as refilling stations, but also as strategically placed checkpoints as well throughout the event route, providing a comfortable abode for the checkpoint marshals and the participants. The Spyder-Motorally is not a race so safety will be paramount and no incentives will be given to participants arriving first. All participants are required to obey all traffic rules and regulations and to observe proper road courtesy at all times. For application and further details, please visit the Spyder website at www.teamspyder.com and the event Facebook page at www. facebook.com/Motorally2015.

pyder recently launched the newest series of graphics for the Grid helmet, the Classic style. While the graphics design obviously targets the scooteristas, especially with classic-looking scooters like Vespas and Stellas, hence the 2211 as a launchpad, the grid’s quarter-shell design actually fits any motorbike, with casual-demeanor riders in mind. The ABS composite shell provides the rider the safety he/she needs while still looking gorgeous with the lid. The scratch-resistant no-warp lens ensures optimum visibility against glares while its quick release system allows the rider a quick lens change to match the ambience; chrome or tinted for the day touring, clear for night riding. Other models of the Grid further the convenience by having dual-lens, a clear outer lens, and a retractable dark lens that hides or pops with a flick of a switch. Strategically-placed aero-vents cool the rider’s head especially during a scorching day ride. The new Grid Classic’s graphics is a collage of the different aspect of the classic scooter lifestyle artfully integrated to the shell of the helmet. The Grid now comes in three color variations: black & white, sepia and full graphics.

2211 has been at the forefront of the classic scooter scene, they have been around. And 2211 was the perfect place to launch the Grid Classic style helmet. The night officially started when the VCoP of the Vespa Club of the Philippines started pouring in. Several other clubs followed immediately such as the Hayate Club of the Philippines, The Like Club, Euroscoot, and Alamat Crewsers. The traffic-laden Friday night was filled with the smooth and calming voice of the musical duo Dindo and Windel, while the riders tuned in/chatted the night away, with beer in one hand courtesy of 2211, and food in the other courtesy of Leo Soto. Potato corner gave our cholesterols some boost with their presence. Sporadic raffle prizes of Spyder and Overdose products were given away through the night culminating in two lucky winners of a Tyro and a Grid helmet. Still, non-winners get 22% off for helmet buyers during the event, and an 11% off until November 7. Spyder thanks the presence of our friends and sponsors Mark de Vera of Overdose, Viking Valasote of Potato Corner, Leo Sotto for the catered food, our hosts Migs Oca and Simon Barcelon of 2211 Works.

2015 Cannonball Run January 2015, Widus Hotel Clark Pampanga

For older guys like me, the movie

“Cannonball Run” starring the newbie Jackie Chan was a world wide hit. It’s about a race stage in the deserts of the United States where a huge amount of money was at stake for the winner of the race. Organized by a rich Arab sheikh, it is a very interesting race participated by almost anyone who knows how to drive, making it adventurous and fun like just what the movie is. Now, inspired by the movie the organizers of this year’s first ever Cannonball Run here in the Philippines did make a very fun and interesting event. Open to all riders and car fanboys the event kicked in on January 9-11, 2015 at the Widus Hotel, Clark Pampanga. A significant number of participants joined the race and not all the riders and car drivers finished. The event was great with sponsors filling the grounds and cool bikes gave the spectators something to dream of. Family members, friends and clubmates where there to support their participant. The take-off started with cars leaving first followed by the bigbikes and then the smaller displacement bikes at 11.30 - 12midnight. The send off was really exciting as we departed the starting line one by one straight towards an adventure we can only share. It was indeed a festival of cars and wonderful powerful bikes and of course hard core riders and drivers who tackled 1,400 and 500 kilometres of backbreaking road travel, battling the elements and fatigue. As a participant under the 500 kilometres run, it was really an experience of a life time. The thrill of riding as an individual made

me more one with my Motorcycle (who I named “Batosai”) a Yamaha FZ16. My ride gear couldn’t handle the cold climate of the ride which made me tire more but knowledgeable for the next endurance events. I am a witness of how good riders are here in the country as they effortlessly sliced through the speeds on uncontrolled high ways where buses, tricycles and dogs pop up unexpectedly. The zig-zag roads of the mountains are no difference as riders passed me by like the Rossis and the Marquezes banking on turns where only inches of space separates the road from the cliffs. There were 4 stops for checkpoint tagging for the 500 class; and those spots were Petron Gerona Tarlac, Petron Baloc, Flying V Aritao, Petron Baguio. It was mostly a dark ride for the 500 class for the sun only shined at the last checkpoint in Petron Baguio.

call the Newbies for they consist of the best endurance riders I know, they arrived 7.21am in the morning wow! The awarding ceremonies were conducted the next day (Sunday) where riders and drivers share stories about the Cannonball run experience. T-shirts were handed out to all participants making us proud of the event we joined. Overall, the Cannonball run really did great making all car and motorcycle enthusiast have an event to look forward to. I definitely will join future Cannonball runs for it is now in my blood. Many thanks to Mr. Joey Almeda and the rest of the organizers for coming up with an adventurous event like this!

M

The rainy and foggy roads of Aritao did a very bad toll on my body and energy for I was freezing even with my rain coat on... I thought maybe I need to get myself more expensive and durable riding gears. After the Baguio stop, the ride back to Clark was easy for I am now familiar with the roads as compared to my GPS riding going to Baguio from the Tarlac route. But thanks to my GPS the zig-zag roads were really easy to tackle. I never did thought I could fall asleep during the ride for I constantly found myself dreaming and awaking every time. I arrived exactly 10.58am making me a proud finisher. The winners were really astonoshing riders for how they finish in just a few hours is unbelievable. I would like to mention the group which they

Buying a Motorcycle from Local Market Vs. Imports

Underbone bike owners upgrade their rides when they have a chance from 125cc to 400cc. Bikes with big displacemets can only be found on gray market and only a few manufacturers offer such bike locally.

O

f course we have preference brand and sometimes we grab the opportunity acquiring even if we really don’t know where it came from. Grey market are often expensive since the price range of taxes are highier than the ones available from our trusted manufacturers here. So are we safe buying imported bikes rather than buying it locally? What are the proper documents and legal issues we are facing when we choose to purchase big bikes from imported market?

When we read the government rules and procedures on acquiring imported bikes, it seems to be doable and a walk in the park. Of course when the paper is now running on process, traps and ambushes fires ahead as you process your paper to make your most loved ride clear and free from confiscation.

Registering an imported bike You have successfully imported your bike in the Philippines for a few months with the registration and insurance of the country of origin but there is a need to register here. Here are what you need to make your imported bike bonafide and legal to roam around locally. 1. Original Invoice

3. Letter of Confirmation of Certificate of Payment form the LTO Central Office Registration Section 5. Actual inspection of motor vehicle resulting in completed Motor Vehicle Inspection Report that includes stencils of motor and chassis numbers on the form.

2. Certification of Payment of Taxes 4. Philippine National Police –Hiway Patrol Group Clearance

Only a scooter can get you to your destination faster. MNM: What do you think are the advantages of motorcycle over cars? Love-Love: Advantages, you get to your destination faster… and well siguro mas cute kami when in motorcycles, mas cute ang mga riders diba? And for me parang… basta Manila or really traffic cities I would consider scooter practical and economical aswell MNM: How many bikes do you have? Love-Love: 1-2-3-4 (Pointing to her bikes in the garage) I first own this Honda but after this one, bumili pa ako ng mga ibang scooters and actually tawag ko diyan e nag lelevel up ako to higher cc’s (Engine displacement) and then when I was 15yrs old so that’s 1995 nag “Bigbike” nako, I started with a 400cc. Tapos year 2000 millennium satin yun diba? So yung millennium year nay un, dun ako nagrerace ng bigbikes. MNM: Are you a member of any Motorcycle club? Meaning pagnag-kakarerahan na malalayo yung distance nung isang bike, unlike sa small bikes, yung underbone and scooter races… anu e, halos dikit-dikit kaya for me parang “Uy!” MNM: Have you been through an accident? Love-Love: Oo naman! Actually ang rider you cannot consider a rider a perfect rider or a good rider kung wala siyang accident. Well in my case naman nakakatawa yung accident ko kasi I’ve been racing bigbikes for 14 years and nung 2011 kasi that was the year that Maico Buncio had his accident aswell so nag stop lahat ng superbike races so syempre parang nabitin kami and so na-bored kami so I joined the scooter races and ironically dun ako naaksidente. Motorcycle modification can change the look

of your bike that enhances engine performance and improve the productivity of the vehicle. Unlike the manufactured stock bike, they have the comparative edge as they provide you with lots of suitable options from sound to the feel of power you want for your vehicle. However, before you buy any aftermarket accessories for your bike, it’s important to know whether it matches your bike’s engine and other specifications or not, after all modification still is a matter of choice, it becomes a viable option. Through aftermarket motorbike accessories, you can get the desired results through the pre-existing bikes. It saves you a lot from buying specific bike especially when it’s difficult for you to buy a new one. Now the question, if modification process can still endure the value of preservation of our natural resources? Can this be able to work by reducing negative effects which motorcycles may have on the environment without adversely affecting efficiency? Is there other way around that we can add power to our motor engines, but able to save fuel at the same time and maintaining the good condition test of temperature, load and speed during emissions? Possible isn’t it? Who knows we might have our own creation, since we are globally competitive in terms of technological advancement and invention. Motorsiklo News Magazine 49

Thieves who do this for a living are those selling this bikes cheap to people na tumatangkilik nito, some buyers are the rouge men in uniform na kinu-clone ang mga papers and plate numbers ng the same motorcycle model and use it daily since hindi naman sila pinapara sa daan on check points kasi kabaro sila, i know some people who do this and it saddens me. Yung iba namang buyers ay mga shops who would get the parts na pwedeng kahuyin at ibenta sa mga parokyano, and some buyers bring them to far away provinces na hindi nasisinagan ng batas and use them freely... so kakainis talaga ha. Thieves who steals bikes to be use for crime like robberies and hired guns at mga assasination drive by shooting are just using this bimes for getaway purposes. Scary shit if you ask me, imagine magiging part ng krimen ang alaga mong kabayo! Pak that!

Huhubaran ang motor to its naked frame at sasaksakan at imomodify ng racing parts at tadaaan! So kung talagang ayaw mo mawala ang motor mo, kailangan talagang maglabas ng pera for safety precautions, instead of hoping and praying that your motorcycle will still be there at the parking lot when you get back. Ang mga kawatan na ito ay siguradong madidismaya if they see your motorcyle on padlocks and chains for security, ngunit pag ang iyong motor ay talagang matagal ng target ng mga dumuhong ito ay mukhang maskakailangan mo pang dagdagan ang security measures ng motor mo at hindi dapat padlocks lang. Look for more suitable locking security methods or even resort to security alarms that render your bike unoperable and of course buy more expensive locking mechanisms.

Anti-Motorcycle Theft guide tips

“We advice on Hiding your motorcycle in plain sight, especially kapag matagal tagal mong iiwan sa parking ang iyong motor, tulad ng overnight parking or long work hours sa office.”

You can always get a gaurd dog to secure your motorcycle

Tips para sa lahat 1. Hide your bike if possible -Kadalasan ng mga magnanakaw ng motor ay meron na silang type of model and brand na nasa isip bago isagawa ang krimen, so always put in mind na ang motor niyo ang target nila upang masmaging defensive ka sa pagiwas sa nakaw motor. We advice on Hiding your motorcycle in plain sight, especially kapag matagal tagal mong iiwan sa parking ang iyong motor, tulad ng overnight parking or long work hours sa office.

Finding a spot where you can actually see your ride is great, for you can always be on the look out sa mga kahinahinalang mga karakter na lumalapit sa inyong motor. Parking sa mga large lots, at sa mga mall parkings is also an avenue to have your bike stolen if left without safety measures like locks and alarm system. With the bike covered, ang mga magnanakaw will not dare venture to look under the cover to see kung anung motor ang nasa loob nito, and this works in your advantage.

Park your bike inside the garage

2. Lock that steering handle - lahat ng motorsiklo ay may steering lock system while parked upang masecure ang steering handle and of course to prevent it to be riden or pushed away without the key, although chicken lang sa mga tirador makalas ito sa pagkakalock e kahit papaanu ay trabahu parin ito para sa kanila. Locked steering handle may even save your bike from being stolen. Lock your steering handle all the time

Featured Articles “Masmaganda rin to pass the chain through the inside frame ng bikes niyo if possible, gawing secure, dahil siguradong mawawalan ng interest ang mga kawatan nito.”

Masmaganda rin to pass the chain through the inside frame ng bikes niyo if possible, gawing secure, dahil siguradong mawawalan ng interest ang mga kawatan nito.

Buy the appropriate locks and chains

Keep those locks and chains high

3. Locks and chains - Using passive locking devices like disc brake locks, chains, u-locks, and the heavy duty padlocks is a great way to secure your motorcycle from theft.

5. Masmaraming locks, alarms, mas secure masmaraming safety security mechanisms mas maganda syempre, padlocks, chain locks, disc brake locks, and alarms will surely be a great defense against kawatans. It will definitely put them in panic and they will certainly avoid your parked motorcycle. Alarms has different designs that you can buy in the market, may mga sobrang sensitive na alarms na malapitan mo lang ang motor ay magaalarm at magtatawag pansin na. So, buy and get one for it truly secures your priced motorcycle from evil bike robbers. Put stickers on your bike na sinasabing may alarm ang iyong motor.

Use every possible locking mechanism

7. Put kill switch - Install additional security measures to prevent thieves from starting your bike’s engine, maglagay ng hidden “Killswitches” Makaya mang tanggalin ng mga kawatan ang iyong mala-Xmas tree na padlocks and chain mechanisms o kahit pa madisarm nila ang iyong alarms e mahihirapan parin silang paandarin ang inyong motor kung meron kayong killswitch. A killswitch will prevent the operation of your bike’s engine na hindi ito paandarin. Reverse the main killswitch, add spring loades button na kailangang ma-press along with the ignition switch. 8. Keep those papers with you - Never leave your OR/CR on your motorcycle, for it will be very easy for motorcycle thieves to pass through check points if they have it. Always put zerox copies inside your wallet and keep the original in a safe place at home, for it will be your proof incase your bike is found ditched on the road or claimed and impounded by the authorities through check points and bagansiyas. Enjoy your ride always Siklowistas!

TACS ALARM

By: Joel Joya

A Product of Mr. Gilbert Sta. Rita

But! The best protection is to install the TACS alarm system to your bike. This will ensure 100% anti-theft safety and you will have a worry-free feeling anywhere you leave or park your motorcycles.

TACS Alarm was first established last

December 2008, and their products could only be seen here in the country for it is a proud Filipino invention. The product developer Mr. Gilbert Sta. Maria was inspired to make the TACS alarm because he himself was a victim of theft. He wanted to invent a product that will not only make alarming sounds but will inform an owner of what’s happening to his vehicle in real time. He utilizes the functions of a cellphone in alarming him of whatever is happening to his vehicle wherever it could be.

Parked mode

Moving Anti-Carjack mode

When the bike is parked and the TACS alarm is set into Park mode, an alarm sound will be triggered if in case the bike was bumped but if the bike is continually bumped or intentionally being moved the alarm’s main controller will sense it and will automatically call the owner’s cellphone therefore giving precise notification of what is transpiring. And in case you accidentally left your bike keys in the ignition switch the bike will not start for it is set on park mode and alarm will be triggered when someone switch on the key.

The anti-carjack mode is activated for the purpose of alarm functionality while driving. In an incident of a carjacking crime where you find yourself in a very dreadful situation when someone forcibly takes your bike away this system is very useful and safe. Just give the carjackers your bike and let them drive away on it and when you feel you are in a safe distance from them, just activate your bike’s TAC alarm by calling the alarm trigger using your cellphone. The bike’s engine will turn off and there is no way the carjackers can put it back to life plus the continous deafening sounds of the alarm will definitely call attention causing the carjackers to panic and leave your bike by the road.

M

The TACS Alarm sure is a very innovative vehicle security product that will surely keep your bike safe from theft and will mean more stress-free riding for you anywhere you may be. We would like to thank Mr. Gilbert Sta. Rita for this wonderful product!

A rider should have an

understanding and ability to sympathize for nature, and both should bind for a different role. One must be cared and the other complies for its need, whatever affects one correspondingly affects the other. The failure of one is the loss of another. Both need to survive and the rider should care. There are to kinds of motorcycle riders, the one who “Goes down” and the other “Gone down” both painful in any ways... The honor for us is to be crowned from survival, and only good memories for the lost one. For the one who survived, think that you have been given a chance, something for a purpose, a mission to serve and a vision to move. So, GEAR UP! Take a ride, make sense, do it right!

Riders and motorcycles came in their costumes.

Before ever having to spend time for our

departed love ones this All Saints and Souls day, Riders came to celebrate the Hallows eve by staging a Halloween Ride and party. This event is dedicated for the victims of the storm Yolanda and those who lost their lives in vehicular accidents. The event also reminds us of our part in helping the earth’s health by means of eco-friendly advocacies. The gathering started at the Quezon City circle where a short program was staged by lighting up candles in honor of the said tragedies and presentation of sponsors. Riders also came in costumes and bikes with decors were shown on stage. After the short program where sponsors shared their piece of the stage in reminding riders of our responsibilities, the motorcade started to leave the Quezon City circle going to Marikina. The final stop for the motorcade was at the Chromebox Music bar in Marikina where all the Riders will be treated on a night full of fun and surprises.

Prayers were offered through the lighting of candles.

Speakers share the advocacies to the crowd.

We thank the organizers (Arangkada Alliance of Riders and Motorcycle Rights Organization MRO) who helped put up an event like this for the riders. They also promised to stage another Halloween event next year. It was a fun night for everyone and we hope more events like this will be staged to help promote rider camaraderie and safety to all those on two wheels!

PREPARES FOR M3 ENDURANCE RIDE

O

ne of the motorcycle clubs here in the Philippines, Club Zoomer X, they prepared for their participation in the Manila-MatnogManila Ride 2014 or also known as M3 Endurance Ride. In preparation for this exciting event Honda Philippines and Honda Safety Driving Center prepares a 1-day riding clinic specifically designed for the said event. Sir Joseph dela Cruz, the operations manager of the Honda Safety Driving Center together with the president of the Club Zoomer-X, sir Bench Padolina, made this training possible. Participants underwent different level of riding techniques that the training specialist, sir Reynan, prepared for the riders. Morning Lecture was set for the riders to condition and introduce the do’s and dont’s of riding a motorcycle and what to expect in a 24 hour long ride pace. Application on what they have learned follows. Exercises that will develop balance, reflex, and posture was given an importance for a safety defensive riding. First was Balancing. Using the narrow plank, the riders passed thru it slowly. Riders learned to control their bikes at low speed. Second was Reflexes piling in slalom. Riders made a slow- in, pass- out on poles and learned to recover turns at situations where they avoid obstruction on street like path holes. And lastly was Posture Ride while on curve. Riders negotiated sharp bends and curves with proper application of brakes. Driving situations in the Philippine streets do require not just riding ability but also the mind-set and behavior of the rider, thus, making a defensive rider. All riders were timedin while doing the exercises and were given a certificate of completion. It was an all-day fun ride clinic experience and everyone finished with a smile. So expect this club to record as “Finisher” in the M3 Endurance Ride. Have a safe riding Siklowistas!!!

Manila-Matnog-Manila Now on its 7th Year Extreme Endurance Challenge The Manila-Matnog-Manila is an extreme motorcycle endurance event set to bar the wimps from the rest. What started out as a simple supposedly practice endurance run among friends, became one of the pillars of motorcycle endurance events. The Manila-Matnog-Manila, as its name suggests, is basically a test of a man’s resolve and a machine’s reliability against a 24 hour deadline to cover the expanse of Manila to Matnog, Sorsogon, the southernmost part of mainland Luzon, and back.

The Manila-Matnog-Manila, or the M3, on

its 7th year, now dons the Spyder brand, as a partner in the event. Spyder, one of the leading brands of eyewear and helmets is in full support of these kinds of activities. As this too is no race, no special awards or recognition is given to the earliest finish line crossers. Only the award of personal gratification of knowing his/her own capabilities can withstand extreme endurance.

62 Motorsiklo News Magazine

The Manila-Matnog-Manila has been specifically set to take place in the cold rainy month of November. Aside from the endless twist of the throttle for 1,200 kilometers, the dimmed visibility of the night and the setting in of mental and physical fatigue, the torrential downpour is an additional hurdle, making the M3 a most provocative challenge to take on. Despite all these, the M3 is considered a beginner’s endurance challenge, a stepping stone or a practice run for a more

serious task such as the Motorally deemed the toughest motorcycle challenge. And as such, one of the requirements for Motorally is at least finishing an endurance event, and M3 is one of the stepping stones towards the goal of competing in the big league.

“Only the award of personal gratification of knowing his/her own capabilities can withstand extreme endurance.”

Endurance Ride 2014 “Been a fan of endurance motorcycle events, but never really joined the ManilaMatnog-Manila. But now that Spyder is trying to get the event institutionalized, yours truly, TurbanRider Telly Buhay will be joining this. Hopefully I get to finish that 1,200 kilometers of hard-rocking roads down south. Vroom vroom!”

November 22, the riders started trickling in at 2pm, and poured in at twilight. Though their mindset is the 600-kilometer first half of the ride, the riders found themselves socializing with fellow adventurers and wellwishers alike, hours before the flag-off. The Suzuki arc has been the favorite photo backdrop of the rider, which served as the takeoff pointer as well as the beacon calling the riders home. Also, kind-hearted Suzuki dedicated one vehicle to help pick up downed riders, brand irregardless.

With 270 participants who set ablaze the roads from Manila to Matnog, overwhelming success is even an understatement. The one-trackminded riders, who got nothing else in focus but to reach the endpoint of Luzon and back, have waited too long preparing their machines and themselves for an endurance event they will never forget. For most, the Manila-MatnogManila is the adventure of a lifetime.

Beam catering provided the riders, marshals and organizers the grub such us rice meals, pizza rolls, hotdog sandwich and of course some powerful potions such as sodas and coffees. Ahavia Spa and Lounge gave away shirts and mugs and of course a good massage by certified therapists. JM Mirasol Advertising provided the motorcycle and helmet stickers, which doesn’t easily disintegrate when peeled, but can even be restickered to another surface. The night was also braced by the presence of YKL Fujifilm, who will give away cameras in the awarding ceremony.

MTRT, creator of performance parts for motorcycles, not only helped riders do some roadside repairs, but also picked up riders and machines who couldn’t continue on. Endurance Ride 2014 Although the Manila-Matnog-Manila Challenge has been in existence for 7 years now, it was the first time that Spyder partnered up with the organizers and co-organized the event. And with this partnership, the outcome was M3’s most successful yet. In the motorcycling community, in physical and in the social media, the buzzword until now is the Manila-MatnogManila. Everybody is talking about it, how they enjoyed every minute and every kilometers of roads traveled, or how those who missed the opportunity expressed regret. Of how those who didn’t finish because of whatever reasons expressed exacting vengeance and reckoning on next year’s 8th M3 in 2015.

Damn flat tire

That Friendly Traffic Enforcer

It was a perfect weekend for an overnight stay in Baguio together with the whole club. We rode the national roads like fast moving ants all 15 of us. I am just a new member in the club and I only know a handful of them. When we reached a gasoline station for the needed stop over, I saw one of our members sitting idle on his bike with a blank stare. I approached him for chit chat since everyone else is busy sharing stories together. He said his name is Dave and that he was really glad to have joined this long vacation ride. Dave is young and he has a cold tone in his voice as if he was sad inside. Minutes gone by and the club head announced that it was time to leave. I shook Dave’s hand and went straight to my bike... he really has cold hands but I thought it might be the cold weather. We all road in a slow pace for the provincial road traffic is now present. I keep glancing back on my side mirrors to see if Dave is still trailing me from behind. There is something wierd that I have observed while staring back on my mirror. Dave seems to be gliding on the road and that I can’t seem to hear his bike’s engine from behind. We reached the rest house in baguio where we are staying. I tried looking for Dave among the crowd of members but to no avail. I ask one member if anyone have seen him because I was worried that he might have his bike broken down the road and that he was the last in line. Old time members were really buffled at me and were all in shock upon my inquiry. The club head approached me and said, ‘’Bro, Dave died 3 months ago when we were on our way here in Baguio for a weekend ride” It felt that I joined the ice bucket challenge when I learned about Dave that made me chill inside! What an experience I had... made me realize that I can be a very sociable person, imagine having to get a chance to talk to dead people :)

It was exactly 3am when I got a flat tire on a dark long street in Q.C. only a small number of vehicles where passing by that time. My motorcycle is so heavy that I found it hard to push all the way to a nearby vulcanizing shop if I ever find one open. Just 300 meters of pushing, I chanced upon an old lady asking for food. I always bring with me 5 packs of skyflakes wherever I go because you’ll never know when hunger will strike my budget consious life. I gave the old lady 3 packs of skyflakes and she happily accepted. I thought to myself that it maybe my lucky day for she might be a fairy in disguise and grant me 3 wishes! She then uttered “Is there more you can give me?” I said politely “I don’t have anymore Nay” i said. Then she became very angry and shouted at me in a very loud tone of voice. “Give me all you have!!!” She shouted at me... and by now she was transforming into a very large dog. All the hair on my body stood up and i found myself running fast but still pushing my motorcycle. It must be pure adrenalin because I can never imagine having to run that fast with my motorcycle tagging along. I never looked back and my legs kept on going until I reached a lit barangay outpost. The Barangay watchmen did not believe a single word I say but they were kind enough to help me get to the nearby vulcanizing shop in their area. I will never ever forget that night and I now declare that there are indeed dark creatures living amongst us and that a true rider will never leave his bike behind even in the presence of such evil entities.

5am and still dark at dawn in Mandaluyong and the streets of Shaw boulevard sure is light in traffic. I was about to take a left turn on to the S & R road when I noticed something wrong with my bike’s head lights for I noticed it flickered. After turning left, I decided to stop by the sideroad to check up on my lights. I noticed a traffic enforcer heading my way, “Good morning, have you seen my colleagues pass by?” He asked. I said I haven’t noticed anyone and that I just got there. He smiled and said “Ok” but after a few moments he asked me if he could help me out. I said sure and that it will be really helpful if he’d lend me a screw driver for I can’t seem to find mine inside my tool kit. He again smiled and gave me the screwdriver. It was I good thing that I have a spare bulb inside my bike’s compartment. After I finished installing the bulb I found it quite amazing that time seem to be moving slow cause I remember stopping by the road exactly 5am and I believe it took me 10 minutes in fixing my lights and my working watch indicates 5am. I handed back the screw driver to the enforcer when all of a sudden I heard loud gun shots. I now see the enforcer lyng lifeless on the ground. I tried shouting for help but the entire surrounding seems deserted with out anyone even cars passing by. My blood chilled when I saw the same enforcer walking towards me again alive and well asking the same question “Good morning, have you seen my colleagues pass by?” To that notion I started to pray and close my eyes, and the very moment I opened them I found myself seated on my bike waiting for the left turn light to turn green. I was really afraid that time that I did not take the left turn anymore but continued on shaw boulevard until I each the Acacia Lane Jollibee where I stopped and took breakfast and trying to understand what the heck happened to me. I will always be thankful to the Lord for answering my prayers and takng me away from that horrble experience. I also prayed for the poor enforcer who I think was a victim of murder and tried reaching out to people like me for prayers. Wow, that really was a very terrifying experience.

reetings siklowistas! I am proud to represent Nueva Vizcaya in the realm of bike customization. I am Patrick Medestomas, 26, a student of medicine and an avid motorcycle builder Together with the team, we have come up with several unique projects over the years. This hobby of ours turned into a passion to make ordinary bikes into one that will make you stop and stare. One of my bikes has been previously featured in another motorcycle magazine, and quite honestly I am very thankful and excited to be featured in Motorsiklo News Magazine. This is Old Bob, one of my custom-built bikes made in our local shop here in Nueva Vizcaya. Surprisingly, this was handcrafted by different talents including welders, painters and of course mechanics applying old techniques to keep this sweet ride as “classic” as possible.

local shop searching bike to build and considering that it would be a prototype, I chose to have a cheaper model. There was only one shop to look at, RUSI, for the basic reason that it’s affordable and has a lot of compatible parts. I looked around the stock room and saw a hell of a lot of junked bikes but one caught my eye. Though it was rusty, bleeding oil, and broken, I really felt that she deserves a second shot in the life on the road. She’s a TC150, and former tricycle. And by the look for it, has probably has seen better days. But still she had potential. I bought this baby and got her home. Immediately, we started tearing her apart piece by piece and we were hell bent on bringing her back to life. She had a good frame, good numbers, and a pretty intact engine considering she hasn’t ran for a while.

Rider Story By: Patrick Medestomas

We started out by building the rigid frame, grinding and welding our way through the rusty steel. We slapped on a lot of better and brand new parts inside and completed the whole old school look by building her a new tank and getting her classic accessories - from the handles, handle bars, lights, mirrors, and the rims. The build went on for a month, on and off, but we need her to look done. At last, the day has come, to say “fire her up!” and with 3 kicks, we heard her roar! But it’s never going to be complete without her ripping through the concrete; I got out my matching gear, and rode off to the sunset. That, my friends is of no exaggeration or lapse of truth. It was a true story of an old bike thrown away and forgotten, resurrected and given a new lease in life. So don’t just forget your old junkers, they once served you, got you to work and back, got you to school, sometimes they even got you into places that no one else should know. They deserve your care and attention too. Given the chance to build another one, I will, and if you ask me why I do this - it is because I am HAPPY doing this. Well guys, enough talk, Let’s Ride!

M

Old Bob draws a lot of influence from the TV show I grew up with - American Chopper. I always wanted one, but sadly at this point I am not in any position or privilege to own one. So I got the idea to build my first chopper bike. I’ve researched a lot on the techniques and design but quite honestly they have been all too far to reach due to lack of resources. Hence, I went along and researched some more until I came across the “bobber,” the oldest form of bike modification. This technique was simple but classic. It was bare knuckle and bad-ass in attitude. This instantly stole my heart and the love for building motorcycles started to spring out of me.

Wanted: Helmet

REWARD: safety & Life

A motorcycle helmet is a type of helmet (protective headgear) used by motorcycle riders. The primary goal of a motorcycle helmet is motorcycle safety - to protect the rider’s head during impact, thus preventing or reducing head injury and saving the rider’s life. Some helmets provide additional conveniences, such as ventilation, face shields, ear protection, intercom etc. - Source wikipedia.com

A

The origins of the crash helmet date back to the Brooklands race track in early 1914[5] where the medical officer, a Dr Eric Gardner, noticed he was seeing a motor cyclist with head injuries about every 2 weeks. He got a Mr Moss of Bethnal Green to make canvas and shellac helmets stiff enough to stand a heavy blow and smooth enough to glance off any projections it encountered.

He presented the design to theAuto-Cycle Union where it was initially condemned, but they later converted to the idea and made them compulsory for the 1914 Isle of Man TT races, although there was resistance from riders. Gardner took 94 of these helmets with him to the Isle of Man, and one rider who hit a gate with a glancing blow was saved by the helmet. Dr Gardner received a letter later from the Isle of Man medical officer stating that after the T.T. they normally had “several interesting concussion cases” but that in 1914 there was none.

In May 1935, T. E. Lawrence (known as Lawrence of Arabia) had a crash on a Brough Superior SS100 on a narrow road near his cottage near Wareham. The accident occurred because a dip in the road obstructed his view of two boys on bicycles. Swerving to avoid them, Lawrence lost control and was thrown over the handlebars.[6] He was not wearing a helmet, and suffered serious head injuries which left him in a coma; he died after six days in hospital. One of the doctors attending him was Hugh Cairns, a neurosurgeon, who after Lawrence’s death began a long study of what he saw as the unnecessary loss of life by motorcycle despatch riders through head injuries. Cairns’ research led to the increased use of crash helmets by both military and civilian motorcyclists -Source wikipedia.com

Motorcycle Facts Open face - or three-quarter helmets, may be more comfortable than closed face lids, but they leave the face and jaw vulnerable to injury-- not to mention the fact that they lack built-in eye protection against bugs and debris

Adventure helmets - This hybrid helmet genre combines elements of motocross and touring lids, offering a front lip for shade and a large opening that seals with a visor, replacing the motocross-style opening that usually makes room for separate goggles

Half helmets - aka, beanies or shorties-- are barely considered safety gear. Don’t fall under the illusion that these will offer much, if any, crash protection; there’s a reason they’re nicknamed “novelty” helmets

Motocross helmets - are designed to handle offroad competition by offering a wide field of vision that’s open so goggles can protect the eyes from dust and debris, while their front lip is intended to keep the sun out of the eyes

Race Replica helmets - feature graphics emulating the lids of famous racers (a la Valentino Rossi, seen here), but tend to be essentially the same as their non race livery-clad counterparts

Modular helmets - feature components that fold out of the way (and sometimes can be completely removed) in order to temporarily offer the conveniences of an open face helmet. The open face position is usually intended for stops or low speeds

Scooter helmets - re a European phenomenon than an American one, scooter helmets often have an open face area with a built-in visor

Well it should be …

1. Sakto to your head, pumuli ng tamang size na kakasya ang ulo., 2. Magaan to your head and neck, para maiwasn ang pangangawit while riding. 3. Cool Design, the design will represent your personality.

The main idea of using helmet is to protect not only your head and face but also your brain.

M

Sport helmets - are designed for maximum performance, and tend to feature lightweight construction and a snug fit, with slippery aerodynamics to cope with high speed riding

Touring helmets - are designed for long haul comfort, and usually have a looser fit than sport-oriented lids. Other characteristics include a larger visor area for more visibility, and some also have flip-down interior tinted visors, as seen here

What Siklowistas Say

By: Gene Ulag

M

OTORSIKLO– Hindi lang gamit ng karaniwang tao, gamit din ‘to ng lahat, from CAN’T AFFORD to CAN AFFORD.

M

“Responsible at hindi singit ng singit. Kadalasan kasi puro sila singit at mabilis pa”

“The majority of riders are reckless. Lusot dito, lusot doon. Kaya every move I make while driving, I make sure na I look three times before changing lanes or making turns. It would be great if they followed road rules talaga.”

She added. But bago pa man makasagot si Michael – “Hisssssss!” the creature chasing them was now about to jump over them. All of a sudden... 2 rampaging underbone motorcycles (Raider 150 & Yamaha Mio Soul) were approaching them from behind.

Michael placed his Kymco Scooter on its stand while Michelle continued to surf the web on her iPhone. “They’re still alive!” shouted Michael as he checked both rider’s pulse. The flames of the burning wreckage are now slowly dying down and it had already been 10 minutes since the impact. “Nag-text na ang mga friends natin at papunta na daw sila dito” Michelle said to her husband who by now is at the side of both seriously injured riders. Both Riders are falling in and out of consciousness and it’s a good thing they both have their helmets on.

Michael said as he shivered at the gruesome sight of the accident. Both riders are sprawled lifeless on the ground and the couple could only guess if all those involved in the crash were still alive.

Suddenly, “Hisssssssss! A horrifyng sound was heard sa may talahiban at muling sumabog ang takot ng mag-asawa. Michael narinig mo ba yun? Asked Michelle with her voice shaking. “No way! Nandito pa ang halimaw na yun”. Michael said as he now grabbed his wife by his side and he picked up a shattered piece of metal from the ground that came from the bike wreckage. Moans of both injured riders are the only sounds heard in this eerie quiet night.

Burning motorcycle wreckages are scattered all over. Michael asked as he tried desperately to look for the beast amidst the burning wreckage. “Shocks!” b-buhay pa ata?! Michelle said nervously. She horrifying said. “We can’t leave these poor pasaway-riders behind!” Michael said referring to both riders sprawled on the ground.

Michael said as he now started to break down. The Kymco’s engine is still running as it layed on the asphalt, the headlight now projecting a long ray of beam na tumapat at nakasilaw sa mag-asawa. “Kapak!” Aray ko po! Bakit mo ko binatukan? Michael asked Michelle as he massages his nape dahil sa sakit ng pagkabatok ng kanyang asawa. “Siguro naman alam mo na ngayon na hindi ka nananaginip baliw!” Michelle said to her husband and she quickly put on her Spyder Helmet.

Both Michael and Michelle are by now expecting an attack and not a word came out from their mouths. They stood there with their backs leaning flat on each other while scanning the dark surroundings. The flames died down and the pitch darkness envelop them like a giant shadow, they were all eaten up by the night. Not even the moon light can give lumination to see through the night. “Honey, dahan-dahan tayo lumapit sa motor at kukunin ko ang Baygon na binili natin sa loob ng under seat compartment ng motor baka pwede nating pampabulag sa damuhung yan” Michael whispered to his wife and she nodded and they both quietly tip-toed towards their scooter. Mother F! Anu na ang gagawin natin?

Dark Ranger By: Joel I. joya

Part 2

“Bakit ka naghelmet?” He asked his wife. “Suot mo na din yung sayo dahil tatakbo na tayo at ayokong mabasag ang mukha ko kapag nadapa ako at duma-usdos sa kalye sa dilim ng daan at kung makain man ako ng halimaw na iyan e ma-preserve man lang ang beauty ko!” She cried as Michael put his helmet on as well and both began running for their lives. “Wag ka titigil Honey! Takbo lang ng takbo at baka makasalubong natin ang mga kaibigan nating papunta na dito!” he cried out to his wife as they ran like crazy holding on to each other’s hand. A text message sounded out from Michelle’s iPhone – “Kinakamusta tayo ni Mama, at kung gusto daw ba nating sumabay sa kanila ni Papa mag-jogging bukas” she read as they continued to run for their lives. “Iba ka talaga Honey, nagawa mo pa basahin phone mo, anyway, paki sabi sa kanila na ‘No Thanks! Kasi kasalukuyang nag-jojogging na tayo kamo!” – Michael replied.

na balat – “O-Oo huhuhu..” she said crying. “At si Melda ang dati nating border? Diba sobrang puti niya at sadyang napakaganda” he continued on – “Oo Honey, huhuhu...” she cried. “Si Manang Selya yung kobrador ng jueteng, do you still remember her. Yung tamis ng kanyang mga ngiti at bango ng kanyang hininga habang sinisipsip niya ang hilig niyang lillipop?” He asked “OMG! Wag mong sabihing may naging relasyon ka sa kanilang lahat? Hayup ka Honey!” She Tearfully and angrily said expecting a cruel revelation from her husband of 8 years. Wala ha, sabi ko lang kung naaalala mo pa sila?!” he blurted out. “Oo nga, bakit nga ba?!” She cofusedly asked. “Wala akong relasyon sa kanila! Actually ang i-confess ko e pagdudukot ko ng P3,000 pesos sa ating ipon sa bangko pambili ng bagong LS2 helmet kasi yung pera ko e pina-utang ko sa kanila hehe” he said. “Hay naku, akala ko kung anu na e! She said with a sigh of relief and they hugged each other.

“Hiiiiisssssss!!!” the hooded demon now 8 feet away from them with only Michelle’s iPhone backlight giving visibility on that pitch black night. The Demon spread his arms so wide that it seemed to swallow the couple whole and both Michael & Michelle hugged tight with their eyes shut. “I love you Michelle! I love you Michael!” they said to each other as they both removed their helmets. “Wow ang cheezy natin” Michael said and she smiled at him with the iPhone’s light touching their faces – in the background the demon was now about to grab them when—“Bang!” a shot to the head sent the beast hurdling down onto the asphalt.

‘Genezide’ – (Isang Rider) said as he browse the MNM (Motorsiklo News Magazine) fanpage on his laptop at home. “I do hope the Dark Ranger knows about this” (*Please see story of the Crouch Rocket Ranger in MCP – www. motorcyclephilippines.com forum threads under General interest forum section) I’ve gotta go and help them out! I think I would need to call all my ride buddies! Genezide said to himself. Huhuhuhu...” cried Michelle. “Huwag kang mag-alala Honey at ibibigay ko buong buhay ko bago ka pa man niya malapitan”, Michael bravely said to his wife. “Honey, bago man tayo mamaalam sa mundong ito ay may mga i-confess sana ako sayo. “ Michael uttered softly. “Anu yon Honey?” she asked. “Kung naalala mo pa si Inday? Yung naging labandera natin, ang kanyang mabilog na katawan at makinis

W-What the?!” the couple said at napalingon sila sa pinanggalingan ng putok.

Sadyang nakaka panayo balahibo and dating at entrada ng Dark Ranger! To be continued...

Credit balance solved Hi my name is Peter, I am a credit collector from a respected bank financing company here in Makati. There was this one time experience I will never forget. It was when I was about to collect a loan payment from a client with 2 months balance. I was instructed by my boss to have the motorcycle repossessed if the client would not be able to pay. When I got to the house, the client’s wife told me that her husband was away for 2 weeks. I told her that I have no choice but to take the motorcycle with me to the office. She pleaded with me to give them more time until her husband returns from his trip. We ended up inside their sala where she offered me a cold bottle of soda. To my surprise, she took off all her clothes and seduced me in giving in to her request. My manhood took the best of me as I agreed to her irresistible offer. I just told my boss that I wasn’t able to speak to anyone in the household and that I will just go back after 2 weeks. 2 weeks past and I found myself in the same house talking and collecting the payment from the client while her naughty but loving wife looked on smiling.

Tuition time

Anytime, Anywhere My name is Ferdie, my girlfriend and me are on our way to our friends birthday party on my motorbike. We passed by a car driving slow on the outer lane when my girlfriend noticed the driver getting a BJ from his girl passenger. We giggled at the sight and made funny comments on what we saw. My girlfriend just suddenly reached from inside my pants and gave me a good patting. I continued on riding as she continued on pleasuring me. I almost lost balance when the time came for me to let go of my juice. She wiped her hand on my ride jacket and left me all wet down there. She was laughing all through out our ride until we reached our friends house. I never thought such moment was so damn gratifying.

I’m Jessie, a culinary student in a very expensive school. I also ride a Honda CBR600. It was that week that I need to pay my tuition but luck really wasn’t on my side for I used the money from my parents buying shoes and bags. My asking help from my girlfriends will surely be embarrassing for I am a popular girl in school and I don’t want them telling everyone about my predicament. I was down about 10k for I was able to borrow from my real friends and close relatives who wouldn’t report me to my parents. The money was due on a Monday and I was out that Sunday night trying to drink out my problem. I was so drunk driving my car that I had to suddenly go out of the car to throw up. A big foreign guy who seems to be an American approached me and helped me out, I noticed that he was on a Harley Davidson for my brother owns one in his garage. Still drunk I told this complete stranger my problem while we sat inside my car. He smiled and said that he can give me the money I need if I would have quick sex with him. I thought what the heck, no one’s going to find out anyway so I agreed. We did the deed inside my car and I quite agree that he was a stallion! It took about an hour when we said our goodbyes and enough time that made me sober to be able to drive… I thought I can do this again next time for I got to get his number which means more shoes and bags for me!
