MOTS D’IMAGES

JANUARY 2012 - ISSUE #3

EditorialS Happy New Year!

“Beyond the borders ... we must look ...” - Jacques Brel We want to offer our Happy New Year wishes and say « We shall embrace heaviness, lightness and beauty of life and recover a sense of humanity, be lulled by the hospitable memory of the human world, have an ear on our emotions and throw down the materialism that consumes us, we shall put down the walls that surround us and look up at the horizon. We shall overcome ! » The photographer is an explorer, but also a witness that captures a unique perspective of the essence of beings and things, their intimate textures, their secret dreams, sometimes their misery and their hopes forever. In the January issue, we present photos and paintings that are like « passing notes », « sharing notes », those images are a fragile and powerful writing which is like a whisper, « because the murmur may be older than the lips »... Enjoy the Issue! Florence Besson

ugba Yüksel Dreamers awake or absent A deep and discrete poetry as well as a desperate irony emerge from Tugba photos, they are just like particles suspended in the air which make visible a ray of light. These emotional particles come to us as a slow, continuous and silent flight, but yet quite eloquent : lassitude, worn faces, wandering, a flame that falters, but still shines…

Tugba describes photography as « a picture painted by a camera which captures light and life in a split second… ». She adds « Photography, this unique and brief instant when hands shake and heart beats faster and both things make seconds and life become more valuable. »

His art is made of contrast, scratches, drops, constellations of colors as many fragments that maintains a constant dialogue between the visible and the intuitive. Human anger, nostalgia, eroticism also are the expressions use by GĂźnter Ludwig to question our fears and doubts concerning the basis of our present humanity.
