EARLY CHILDHOOD FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAMS (ECFE) Early Childhood Education Mounds View Public Schools offers high-quality learning options for children birth to age five and caregivers starting with expecting parents. Our high-quality programs give parents and caregivers the flexibility to attend classes with and without their children all year. We will follow the Minnesota Department of Education and Health’s recommendations for health and safety practices into the school year 2021-22. Early Childhood Education offers the following programs: • Early Childhood Family Education • Preschool 3’s/Prekindergarten 4’s • Early Childhood Special Education • Early Childhood screening and resources Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) As parents, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. ECFE is designed to support you in your role as a parent while helping your child develop and grow. ECFE classes provide time for parent and child interaction as well as time for parent discussion. Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) The mission of ECSE is to help children with disabilities achieve their potential by providing inclusive classes, services and supports to children ages birth to five. Children must first be assessed to determine if they are eligible and need special education services. Contact the Minnesota Department of Education’s Help Me Grow Program to start the referral process at 1-866-693-GROW. Early Childhood Screening Early childhood developmental screening is a FREE, quick and simple check of how a child is growing and developing. It is required by the State of Minnesota before a child attends kindergarten to detect possible health or learning concerns so that children can get helpful services before they start kindergarten. 2022-23 PRESCHOOL AND PREKINDERGARTEN Preschool and PreK programs provide a safe learning environment for students ages 3 to 5 years old. This class combines ECFE and preschool together. Your child will attend an additional day by themselves, plus the class time increases by 30 minutes for both the parenting and child-only day. PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Do you have ideas and skills to help our program and/or like to volunteer? The Early Childhood Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is looking for members. Parents meet monthly with staff during the school year to talk about classes, experiences and explore fun ideas for family events. FREE child care is provided for children 6 months to 4 years old. FALL 2022 CLASSES PRESCHOOL Age 3 Our half-day, hands-on learning experience gives children the opportunity to begin practicing their social skills with peers, learn communication, literacy, math, fine and gross motor skills, art and dramatic play in a routine rich environment. Students must turn 3 by Sept. 1, 2022. PREKINDERGARTEN Age 4 Our half- and full-day options allow children to gain the skills they need to prepare for kindergarten through play. Children work on developing their school-readiness skills through interactions with peers, exploration, creativity and experimentation. Students must turn 4 by Sept. 1, 2022.

• To enroll in a class, visit moundsviewschools.org/ RegisterCommunityEd. • Priority registration for Winter/Spring 2021-22 is given to Fall 2021 ECFE participants. Current families will receive information from their teacher. • New participant registration opens Jan. 11, 2022, at 9 a.m. • Winter/Spring semesters: Jan. 31 - May 20, 2022.

EARLY CHILDHOOD FAMILY EDUCATION (ECFE) SLIDING SCALE FEES Participant fees for most classes are based on a sliding fee scale based on income. No Minnesota family is excluded for inability to pay. SIBLING CARE AVAILABLE Sibling care allows parents to attend ECFE classes with one child, and we will watch the other(s), ages three months to five years old during the ECFE class time. A minimum enrollment must be met in order to run for a semester. Sibling care is only available for day time classes and not for evening classes. Fee is based on a sliding scale. REFUNDS Class or sibling care refunds will be issued 30 days before the class start date at 100%. From 30 days to the start of class, a refund of 75% will be credited. After the first class, 50% will be refunded. No refunds will be given for the semester after the second class. A $10 processing fee will be charged per refund. Canceled classes will not be refunded due to weather or staff professional development days. There are no refunds for family vacations or days missed due to family illness or extended leave of absence.
2022-23 PRESCHOOL & PREKINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION, TUITION AND PAYMENTS MOUNDS VIEW RESIDENT REGISTRATION: FEBRUARY 8, 2022 AT 9 A.M. Preschool classes are available first to Mounds View Public Schools residents. Non-District residents can enroll starting June 15, 2022. Priority registration is given to current 20212022 Preschool 3-year-old students who were enrolled by December 1, 2021. • Preschool schedules, tuition and fees will be available online in mid-January at moundsviewschools.org/ ecpreschool. • Transportation and extended day options will be available online in mid-January at moundsviewschools.org/ ecpreschool. • Tuition assistance will be available through the online registration process. • Refunds: Registration fees for preschool and prekindergarten are non-refundable.
