Island Lake students start every day with a morning meeting where teachers and students greet one another, share and participate in fun activities to get a positive start to the day. First through third graders utilize Seesaw as a digital platform while fourth and fifth grade students make use of the Google platform. Each of these students has access to a Chromebook throughout the school day. Spanish is offered in grades 4 and 5.

Curriculum includes language arts, mathematics, science, the arts and technology, with opportunities for STEAM experiences throughout the year.

Island Lake welcomes students in its attendance area, which includes parts of Arden Hills, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights and Roseville. School hours: 9:20 a.m.-4 p.m. Office hours: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Island Lake PTA hosts many fun and family-oriented activities, including Family Fun Nights, a carnival, International Night and the Run with the Wolves 5K. Island Lake students love music! Between band, orchestra and choir, more than 250 students in grades 4 and 5 participate in these great opportunities. The school community teaches and practices the social competencies of cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control, often referred to as C.A.R.E.S. Island Lake uses the Second Step program to teach and reinforce positive social skills for academic success. Island Lake embraces community with monthly school spirit days.
