OLTRE IL COSTUME, AMORE PER LA TRADIZIONE MUCH MORE THAN A COSTUME: DEEP LOVE FOR TRADITION I colori del Natale scaldano il cuore della Val di Fiemme con “Tesero e i suoi presepi”: eventi, cori, degustazioni, antichi mestieri e fiabe natalizie nei cortili di Tesero, dove dalle legnaie, dalle stalle e dalle finestrelle si affacciano 80 presepi. Nel paese di Varena, intanto, sorge una piccola Betlemme, dove inoltrarsi a piedi. Il primo sabato di gennaio Cavalese rievoca “I processi alle streghe” che si sono svolti nel Cinquecento. Sfilano cento comparse in costume dal centro fino al Parco della Pieve. Dopo il processo,

viene acceso un grande rogo. Il “Carnevale dei Matoci” esplode nel colore a Valfloriana con straordinaria ironia. Un lungo corteo di personaggi, con maschere lignee e costumi sgargianti, sfila per le frazioni del paese offrendo degustazioni di piatti tipici. Ogni quattro anni Carano festeggia “El Banderal”. I ragazzi del paese mostrano la loro abilità di sbandieratori e corteggiano le ragazze nubili del paese con divertenti rituali. Fra luglio e agosto Tesero festeggia “Le Corte de Tiezer” rievocando antichi mestieri e

antiche ricette della tradizione gastronomica locale. Le donne rivelano gli antichi segreti del bucato intorno alle fontane sia durante le Corte de Tiezer, sia durante “Catanaoc ‘n festa” che si celebra a metà agosto a Predazzo con sfilate di pastori, falegnami, boscaioli in costume. La prima domenica di settembre si celebra la “Festa del Boscaiolo”, a Molina di Fiemme, con una gara di taglio, scortecciatura e accatastamento del legname. La seconda domenica di settembre trecento capre bardate

a festa scendono dai pascoli alti a fine estate e invadono le strade di Cavalese. È la “Desmontegada de le càore”, una grande festa genuina e popolare che ogni anno fa il pieno di spettatori. La terza domenica di settembre si celebra la “Desmontegada de le vache” di Predazzo fra degustazioni e rivisitazioni di antichi mestieri. A novembre Predazzo rivive la “Festa dei fuochi di San Martino”. Poco dopo il suono dell’Ave Maria, si accendono improvvisamente fuochi grandiosi sui fianchi delle montagne.

The colours of Christmas warm up the heart of Val di Fiemme during the festival “Tesero e i suoi presepi”: events, choirs, tastings, ancient crafts and Christmas tales around the courtyards in the town of Tesero, where 80 cribs are displayed in woodsheds, cattle sheds and windows. The village of Varena, in the same period of the year, recreates the streets of Bethlehem. On the first Saturday of January, Cavalese recalls the XVI century “Witch Trials”, with 100 figurants in period costume parading from the town centre

to Parco della Pieve; after the trial, the event ends with a big bonfire. The “Matoci Carnival” in Valfloriana explodes with colour and exceptional humour. A troop of characters, wearing wooden masks and bright costumes, parade through the town offering tastings of typical dishes. Every four years, the village of Carano celebrates “El Banderal”: the boys show their flagflying abilities and try to conquer the hearts of unmarried girls through amusing rituals. Between July and August, Tesero recalls ancient crafts and traditional local cookery recipes

with “Le Corte de Tiezer”. On this occasion, women gather around the fountains to reveal the ancient secrets for doing the washing and repeat their show at another event, “Catanaoc ‘n festa”, that takes place in Predazzo in mid-August and features shepherds, carpenters and woodmen parading in traditional costume. On the first Sunday of September, Molina di Fiemme celebrates its “Woodman Festival” with a competition of wood cutting, barking and piling up. On the second Sunday of September 300 goats, lively decorated for the event, return

from their alpine pastures and move through the lanes of Cavalese. It’s the so-called “Desmontegada de le càore”, a big popular festival gathering crowds of people every year. On the third Sunday of September is the turn of the cattle for the “Desmontegada de le vache”, celebrated in Predazzo with food tastings and ancient crafts demonstrations. The “Festa dei fuochi di San Martino” is held in Predazzo in November: just after the Ave Maria, amazing fireworks light up the surrounding mountains.

È il più grande carosello sciistico del Comprensorio Val di Fiemme-Obereggen. Questa skiarea, dominata dal gruppo dolomitico del Latemar, permette di spostarsi fra Trentino e Alto Adige. Obereggen, Pampeago e Predazzo offrono 18 modernissimi impianti di risalita che assicurano il trasporto degli sciatori dai 1.550 ai 2.500 metri di altitudine. In totale, 45 chilometri di piste impeccabili. Lo Ski Center Latemar offre, durante la stagione invernale, una gran varietà di piste perfettamente preparate, neve garantita, spettacoli stra-

ordinari, panorama mozzafiato e una cucina gustosissima con diverse possibilità di passare il pomeriggio in 10 rifugi tipici con musica e divertimento. E per la sera, ancora divertimento. Ogni martedì, giovedì e venerdì, dalle 19.00 alle 22.00, si può scendere con gli sci o con lo slittino lungo le piste illuminate di Obereggen. It’s the largest skiing circuit in the Val di Fiemme-Obereggen area. This skiing zone, set at the foot of the Latemar Dolomite group, crosses the boundaries of Trentino towards South Tyrol. Obereggen, Pampeago and Predazzo are served by 18 ultra-modern ski lifts assuring the transfer of skiers from 1550 to 2500 m of altitude. In total: 45 km of impeccable slopes. Ski Center Latemar offers in winter a large variety of perfectly prepared pistes, snow guaranteed, extraordinary sights, breathtaking landscapes and a very tasty cuisine,

as well as several opportunities of spending the afternoon in 10 typical refuges with music and entertainment. But entertainment goes on all through the evening. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 7 to 10 pm, the pistes in Obereggen are lit up for skiing or sleighing by night. A good chance to combine the pleasure for sport to après-ski music (all included in the weekly or seasonal ski pass). GARDONÉ: una slitta su monorotaia che garantisce un chilometro di salti, paraboliche, jump, cunette e curve mozzafiato, in totale sicurezza, e a contatto con la natura incontaminata dei boschi del Latemar. Questa attrazione per adulti e bambini è raggiungibile da Predazzo, con la moderna telecabina Predazzo-Gardoné, a oltre 1.650 metri di quota. Novità 2012: Pista per slittino “Durli” a Gardonè, noleggio slitte in loco. Piste cult: Le piste più conosciute sono la Cinque Nazioni, sul versante di Predazzo, e l’Agnello a Pampeago (una nera lunga 2600 m, con un dislivello di 420 m) che puntualmente ospitano importanti manifestazioni agonistiche. ALPE CERMIS

L’area si sviluppa sul versante della catena del Lagorai ed è comodamente raggiungibile dal centro di Cavalese. Una rete di piste di diversa difficoltà scendono dai 2.200 metri di cima Paion, dove si può godere uno dei panorami più spettacolari, agli 800 metri del fondovalle. L’area annovera la lunghissima pista “Olimpia” (7,5 km), recentemente ampliata e servita da due modernissime telecabine. L’Alpe Cermis è un vero paradiso per i bambini che possono contare su due aree attrezzate per giocare e imparare a sciare. A Dosso dei Larici c’è il campo giochi sulla neve “Cermislandia” (con tapis roulant e zona primi passi) e l’asilo kinderheim. In località Cermis (presso Eurotel) c’è il campo scuola servito da uno skilift. Ma ai più piccoli diverte molto anche la “Via del Bosco” che invita a scoprire la natura attraverso i giochi e le immagini che si affacciano lungo la pista in lieve pendenza.

COASTER GARDONE’: a monorail sleigh for 1 km of jumps, parabolas, dips and breathtaking bends, in total safety and in the heart of the Latemar uncontaminated nature. This attraction for children and grown-ups is accessible from Predazzo, via the modern cable car PredazzoGardoné, at over 1650 m of altitude. New from winter 2012: Sledge slope in Gardonè including sledge rent. Cult slopes: the most renowned slopes are the Cinque Nazioni, on the side of Predazzo, and the Agnello in Pampeago (a 2600-m-long black slope, with a 420 m drop), usually the stage for many important competitions. ALPE CERMIS

This skiing zone spreads over the side of the Lagorai chain and is easily reachable from Cavalese towncentre. A piste network of various difficulty levels radiates from the extraordinary landscape of Cima Paion (2200 m) down to the valley bottom (800 m). The area includes a very long slope called “Olimpia” (7,5 km), recently widened and served by two modern cable cars. Alpe Cermis is a real paradise for children, who can rely on two equipped areas for playing and learning how to ski. At Dosso dei Larici are a fun park in the snow, called “Cermislandia” (with tapis roulant and area for baby skiers) and the kindergarten. In Cermis (near Eurotel) there is a school camp, served by ski lift. And for youngest kids, the “Via del Bosco” (Forest Route) is also very amusing and helps children discover nature through games and pictures peeping out at the sides of a gently sloping piste.

L’esposizione a Nord garantisce un ottimo innevamento fino a stagione inoltrata. Dall’inverno 2007-08, l’Alpe Cermis offre: una nuova seggiovia quadriposto carenata ad agganciamento automatico (p/h 2000) in sostituzione dello skilift Prafiorì; la pista Prafiorì allungata di 400 metri; la nuova pista “Salera” vicino alla Prafiorì. Pista cult: La pista Olimpia, la più lunga delle Dolomiti, offre una discesa mozzafiato di 7,5 km dai 2.200 metri del Paion del Cermis. È servita da due telecabine. L’innevamento programmato garantisce la sciabilità per tutto il corso dell’inverno. BELLAMONTE ALPE LUSIA

Il territorio è quello dei pascoli alti estivi, dominati dalle Pale di San Martino, con spettacolare panorama su tutta la Val di Fiemme. Venticinque chilometri di ampie piste spaziano dal campo scuola alle discese più impegnative. Fra le malghe e le baite, trasformate in accoglienti rifugi, anche il “Ciamp de le Strie”, con

ambientazione ispirata alle leggende della Valle. Per lo snowboard due parchi con percorsi jump e boardercross, anche a misura di bambino. Alla partenza della seggiovia di Bellamonte, accanto al ristorante Zirmo, in una zona protetta, c’è un “campo primi passi” con due tapis roulant. Questa è inoltre l’unica area dove tutte le strutture sono attrezzate per ospitare i disabili (dall’accesso agli impianti, agli uffici skipass, fino ai rifugi dove c’è a disposizione una sedia a rotelle). Infatti, la località ospita l’associazione Sportabili di Predazzo (www.sportabili.org). Per gli amanti degli skitour: collegamento bus navetta con il passo San Pellegrino. Novità 2012: Nuova pista Dolomitica dotata di selftime parallelo, lunga 800 metri, dislivello di 123 metri. Pendenza media:16%. Pista cult: pista Lasté, panoramica, lunga 2,8 km, parte da quota 2.320. Dislivello di 300 metri. Pendenza media: 17%. As the whole area faces north, snow coverage is guaranteed throughout the winter season. From winter 2007-08, Alpe Cermis offers the following facilities: a new 4-seater automatic hook-on (p/h 2000) chair lift with wind protection, replacing the existing Prafiorì ski lift; a 400 m extension to the Prafiorì piste; a new piste called “Salera”, beside the Prafiorì. Cult slope: the Olimpia slope, the longest in the Dolomites, with its breathtaking 7,5 km descent from mount Paion (2200 m of altitude). Served by two cable cars. BELLAMONTE ALPE LUSIA

This is are the fields for the summer mountain pastures, encircled by the Pale di San Martino, with amazing view of the entire Val di Fiemme. 25 km of wide pistes, ranging from the learners area to highly demanding slopes. Among the mountain malgas and huts, rearranged into cosy refuges, there is “Ciamp de le

Strie”, with inside setting inspired to the valley legends. The two parks for snowboarding, with jump and boardercross tracks, are also suitable for kids. Close to the chair lift station in Bellamonte, near Ristorante Zirmo, is a protected area for baby skiers with two tapis roulant. And furthermore, this is the only ski area where all facilities are equipped for disabled guests (access to lift facilities, ski pass offices, and even mountain refuges with wheelchairs available). This is actually the place that hosts the association “Sportabili” of Predazzo (www.sportabili.org). For all ski touring enthusiasts: ski bus transfer to San Pellegrino passe. PASSO LAVAZÉ PASSO OCLINI

Un altopiano fra i grandi orizzonti dei gruppi montuosi del Catinaccio e del Latemar dove convivono discesa e fondo. Nella zona degli Oclini, alle pendici del Corno Bianco e del Corno Nero, ci sono cinque impianti di risalita facilmente raggiungibili dalla strada. L’area offre anche 80 km di piste per lo sci di fondo (quota 1.800), con un centro dotato di spogliatoi, docce e servizio sciolinatura. Nei sentieri del bosco si può fare fondo, nordic walking o passeggiare con le ciaspole. Noleggio dei materiali sportivi in loco con possibilità di avere in uso anche la tuta da fondo. Lo skilift del campo scuola Malga Varena permette di imparare a sciare su una pista di un chilometro accanto a un divertente snow park. Punti di accesso: strada del Passo Lavazé, che collega Cavalese con l’altoatesina Val d’Ega.

PASSO ROLLE

Lo scenario è fra i più emozionanti. Ai piedi del Cimon della Pala cinque impianti conducono a undici piste. La più conosciuta è la nera “Paradiso”, teatro di gare internazionali. Quota e innevamento assicurano una lunga stagione sciistica. Per gli snowboarder c’è il Rolle Railz Park con 12 rail e 4 jump Per i fondisti c’è un anello di 5 chilometri fra pascoli innevati e boschi di larici e abeti. Molto apprezzata la camminata sulla neve che porta da Malga Venegia alla Baita Segantini alle pendici delle Pale di San Martino. Sul Passo c’è la sede della Scuola Alpina della Guardia di Finanza che forma gli addetti alla sicurezza delle piste e al soccorso in montagna. Pista cult: la pista nera “Paradiso” si affaccia sul Cimon della Pala offrendo una vista spettacolare in particolare al tramonto. Punti di accesso: strada del Passo Rolle, dal bivio di Predazzo.

PASSO LAVAZÉ PASSO OCLINI

This plateau is encircled by the majestic outlines of Catinaccio and Latemar, where downhill and cross-country skiing coexist. The five lift facilities in the Oclini area, at the foot of Corno Bianco and Corno Nero, are easily reachable from the road. The area also features 80 km of cross-country skiing trails (at altitude 1800 m), and a centre with changing rooms, showers and waxing service. The forest paths are suitable for cross-country skiing, nordic walking or snowshoeing. Equipment rental available on the spot, including cross-country ski suits. At Malga Varena school camp, children learn how to ski on a 1km piste served by ski lift, the runs next to an entertaining snow park. PASSO ROLLE

Here is one of the most enchanting landscapes. There are five lift facilities at the foot of Cimon della Pala, bringing up to eleven pistes. The best known is the black “Paradiso”, a stage for international competitions. High altitude and artificial snow coverage ensure a long skiing season. Snowboarders can practice at the Rolle Railz Park, with its 12 rails and 4 jumps. A 5 km ring among snow-covered pastures and woods is dedicated to cross-country skiers. Highly prized is the walk in the snow from Malga Venegia to Baita Segantini, at the foot of the Pale di San Martino. The Alpine School of the Guardia di Finanza, which trains staff for ski patrol and mountain rescue, has its base at Passo Rolle. Cult piste: the black piste “Paradiso” overlooks Cimon della Pala, assuring the view of spectacular sceneries, particularly at sunset. Le ampie piste della Val di Fiemme attraggono gli appassionati dello snowboard. Nello Ski Center Latemar promettono forti emozioni tre jump, tre rail e un halfpipe lungo 80 metri. La ski area Bellamonte - Alpe Lusia dedica allo snowboard due parchi con percorsi jump e boardercross, anche a misura di bambino. Sul Passo Rolle ci si diverte con i 12 rail e i 4 jump del Rolle Railz Park.

Val di Fiemme wide slopes attract snowboard enthusiasts. Thrill and fun are guaranteed at the Ski Center Latemar with its three jumps, three rails and a 80 m halfpipe. The Bellamonte - Alpe Lusia ski area features two snowparks with jump and boardercross tracks, suitable also for children. SCI DI FONDO nella Valle 3 volte mondiale CROSS-COUNTRY SKI in a 3 times world-famous valley Lo sci di fondo porta dritti al cuore della Val di Fiemme. E garantisce un rapporto di intimità esclusivo con una natura immobile solo in apparenza. Grazie a due attrezzati centri per lo sci di fondo, oltre a 150 chilometri di piste fra boschi e scenari dolomitici, la Val di Fiemme ha ospitato due Campionati del Mondo Fis di sci nordico (1991 - 2003). Nel maggio del 2008 ha vinto la candidatura per il terzo Campionato del Mondo nel 2013 (www.fiemme2013.it). Il Centro Passo Lavazé-Oclini può contare su un ambiente naturale fra i più affascinanti e sull’altitudine favorevole (1.600-2.150 m. slm) che rende le piste praticabili da dicembre ad aprile. Oltre 80 km di piste adatti sia a sciatori esperti sia a principianti. Il panorama che è possi-

bile ammirare da questo passo, i boschi nel quale si snodano le piste e il sole, che illumina buona parte dei tracciati, sono le caratteristiche che seducono gli appassionati di questa disciplina. Il Centro di Lago di Tesero, illuminato di notte, vanta strutture all’avanguardia e offre l’emozione di sciare sulle piste dei Campionati del Mondo. La Società Centro del Fondo Srl propone l’uso diurno gratuito delle piste. In Val di Fiemme si pratica lo sci di fondo anche nel bosco di abeti e larici che costeggia Bellamonte (1.400 m. slm.) e lungo anelli intorno a Predazzo, Ziano, Masi di Cavalese e Molina. È molto apprezzato il mitico tracciato della Marcialonga che attraversa l’intera Valle da Predazzo a Molina di Fiemme (www.marcialonga.it).

Cross-country ski leads straight to the heart of Val di Fiemme, assuring an exclusive and intimate relationship with an apparently still nature. Thanks to its two well-equipped crosscountry ski centres and over 150 km of pistes crisscrossing woods and Dolomites landscapes, Val di Fiemme has been site of two FIS Nordic World Ski Championships (1991 2003). In May 2008, the valley won the competition to host the third World Championship in 2013 (www.fiemme2013.it). The Passo Lavazé CrossCountry Skiing Centre can count on a charming natural environment and a favourable altitude (1600-2150 m above sea level), which allows skiing from December to April. Over 80 km of tracks for every level of skiers. The enchanting sight from the pass, the woods surrounding the tracks and the sun shining on most of the ski

circuit are details that simply seduce the enthusiasts of crosscountry skiing, who in this area also have the chance of meeting international ski champions, training for important competitions. The Lago di Tesero CrossCountry Skiing Centre, illuminated at night, features avant-garde facilities and grants the unique emotion of skiing on world championship tracks. The society “Centro del Fondo Srl” offers free daily access to its tracks. Cross-country ski can also be practised in the forest of fir and larch trees that borders Bellamonte (1400 m above sea level) or on the ski circuits around Predazzo, Ziano, Masi di Cavalese and Molina. The legendary and highly prized Marcialonga trail (popular crosscountry ski race usually held in January) runs across the entire valley from Predazzo to Molina di Fiemme (www.marcialonga.it).

NATURE & WELLNESS La Val di Fiemme è immersa nelle foreste di abete rosso ed è delimitata da due parchi naturali come quello di Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino e quello del Monte Corno. Gli ospiti delle strutture aderenti potranno lasciare l’auto nel parcheggio dell’albergo e muoversi liberamente su tutti gli autobus Trentino Trasporti che circolano in Val di Fiemme e che collegano Capriana e Valfloriana, Castello e Molina di Fiemme, Passo Lavazé e Oclini, Pampeago, Paneveggio e Passo Rolle.

AN INSTITUTION WITH LONGOBARDIC ROOTS

L’attaccamento della popolazione della Valle di Fiemme al proprio territorio e la radicata propensione all’autogoverno hanno infatti un autorevole fondamento nella “Magnifica Comunità della Val di Fiemme”, istituzione che risale al XII secolo, a cui vescovo di Trento riconosce una propria autonomia amministrativa. La valle viene divisa in “regole” che raccolgono i paesi della valle, i cui rappresentanti eleggono ogni anno lo Scario (parola Longobarda che significa “capo”), ovvero il presidente della Comunità. La comunità, una sorta di repubblica rustica, gestisce i beni del territorio, boschi, malghe, prati, il pascolo del bestiame, la caccia e la pesca, adottando un sistema di rotazione di retaggio longobardo; ma dirime anche le questioni giuridiche e i contenziosi che venivano discussi in quello che viene tuttora chiamato “banco della reson”, al centro del parco della Pieve a Cavalese. La Magnifica Comunità rimane

però un’istituzione ancora operante al giorno d’oggi nella gestione dell’immenso patrimonio boschivo della valle, importante non solo per il corretto sfruttamento forestale, ma anche per il mantenimento dell’identità storica, sociale e culturale della valle. L’attuale comunità è una realtà trilingue che comprende il comune di Moena (ladino), i comuni della Val di Fiemme (italiano) e di Trodena (tedesco). Gestione ecocompatibile La foresta della Magnifica Comunità ha ottenuto la ecocertificazione FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). Dai boschi della Val di Fiemme si ricava anche il prezioso “legno di risonanza”, un legno pregiato destinato alla produzione di strumenti musicali e apprezzato dai liutai di tutto il mondo. Fiemme people’s attachment to their land and their deep-rooted propensity to self-government have their authoritative ground in the “Magnifica Comunità della Val di Fiemme”, an institution dating back to the XIIth century, which was granted its administrative autonomy by the bishop of Trento. The valley was divided in “regole”, grouping the small villages scattered around the territory, whose representatives once a year elected a “Scario” (Longobardic word for “chief”), that is the President of the Community. The institution administered the collective properties of the territory – woods, malgas, meadows, pastures, hunting and fishing – adopting a rotation system inherited by the Longobards; it also settled juridical disputes and cases, which were discussed at the “banco della reson” (as it is still called today, meaning “the stand of reason”), located in the heart of Cavalese’s Parco della Pieve. DOLOMITI

Patrimonio Naturale dell’Umanità DOLOMITI “World Natural Heritage” Durante l’estate 2009, l’UNESCO ha inserito le montagne calcaree situate nel nordest d’Italia nella lista dei più bei paesaggi del mondo. Con questo atto, le Nazioni Unite hanno riconosciuto ufficialmente, tramite la propria organizzazione per l’educazione, la scienza e la cultura, le peculiarità e l’unicità delle Dolomiti. Adesso le Dolomiti, con le note Marmolada (3.342 m) e le Tre Cime di Lavaredo (2.999 m) o quelle meravigliose vette che circondano la Val di Fiemme, come i Campanili del Latemar (2.842 m), le Pale di San Martino (3.192 m) e il Corno Bianco (2.317 m), sono riconosciute

a ragione fra le montagne più belle della Terra. Una delle meraviglie che si fondano sulla particolare composizione mineralogica delle Dolomiti è il fenomeno della “Enrosadira”. La presenza di carbonato di calcio e di magnesio nella Dolomia infiamma le montagne al tramonto di un colore rosso intenso. Le pareti rocciose sviluppano uno spettro cromatico che va dal giallo chiaro al rosso fuoco, per poi attenuarsi in vari livelli di viola, fino a scomparire del tutto nel buio della notte. L’ Enrosadira è una delle peculiarità delle Dolomiti ed è sicuramente uno degli spettacoli naturali più particolari che ci siano.

In summer 2009, the calcareous mountains in North-Eastern Italy have been added by UNESCO to the list of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. The United Nations Educational, Scientifc and Cultural Organization has thus officially recognized the uniqueness and peculiarity of the Dolomites. The Dolomites include the renowned Marmolada (3,342 m), the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (2,999 m) and the marvellous peaks surrounding the Fiemme valley, like Campanili del Latemar (2,842 m), Pale di San Martino (3,192 m) and Corno Bianco (2,317 m). Rightly enough, they are now classified among the most attractive mountains on Earth.

One of the many wonders characterizing the Dolomites is a superlative natural phenomenon called “Enrosadira”, originated by their specific mineral composition. Calcium and magnesium carbonate found in the dolomite rocks make these mountains glow bright red at sunset. The rock expanse becomes tinged with a chromatic variation shading from light yellow to bright red, then gradually fading to a range of purple gradations, until all colours disappear in the dark of the night. The Enrosadira is peculiar to the Dolomites and certainly represents one of the most spectacular natural sights in the world.

Nel Museo etnografico di Nonno Gustavo, a Bellamonte, si intraprende un viaggio nel tempo fra attrezzi agricoli che tornano in vita come il ceppo forato per fare i denti del rastrello. Nel Museo Pinacoteca Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme si possono ammirare le tele

della Scuola Pittorica di Fiemme, documenti di vita familiare e attrezzi di un tempo. A Cavalese c’è anche quella che probabilmente è stata la prima biblioteca pubblica della Provincia di Trento, la Biblioteca Muratori. Una collezione privata di 1500 libri antichi, a partire dal Quattrocento. È stato recentemente inaugurato il nuovo Museo Etnografico di Carano che espone testimonianze di vita contadina della Val di Fiemme in tre sezioni: la stalla, la cucina, il tabià con il fienile. Fra gli altri musei, quello in un antico mulino funzionante dedicato alla Beata Meneghina di Capriana, dove i bambini impastano la farina; quello che insegna il rispetto per la montagna del Centro documentazione della Fondazione Stava 1985, a Stava di Tesero; quello della Scuola Alpina della Guardia di Finanza di Predazzo. Con una gita fuori valle si possono visitare il Museo Ladino di Fassa, il Museo degli Usi e Costumi della gente trentina di San Michele all’Adige.

Mountain museums invite to walk in nature, teach how to use ancient tools and flip through the pages of history and beauty. In Predazzo, the Geological Museum of the Dolomites and the Museum Tridentino of Natural Sciences reveal the wonders of nature and science through excursions, experiments and theatre shows. The Centre of Contemporary Art in Cavalese entertains children with lively teaching workshops in the woods, showing how to use natural materials and make portraits of nature. The Paneveggio Park Visitor Centre guides visitors into the forest of red spruce to help them break down the barriers raised by men between themselves and nature. The Ethnographic Museum of Nonno Gustavo, in Bellamonte, proposes a trip back in time where ancient farm tools come back to life, such as the log drilled from side to side, once used to make rake prongs. In the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme Museum and Art Gallery are kept the canvases

of Fiemme’s Painting School, accounts of ancient family traditions and working tools. The Biblioteca Muratori in Cavalese is supposedly the first public library in the province of Trento: it is a private collection dating back to the XV century and counting about 1500 ancient books. The newly inaugurated Ethnographic Museum in Carano gathers accounts of ancient rural life in Val di Fiemme, divided in three sections: the cattle shed, the kitchen and the hay barn, locally called “tabià”. A few other museums worth mentioning are the old – but still working – watermill dedicated to Beata Meneghina di Capriana, where children learn how to mix flour; the Stava 1985 Foundation Documentation Centre, in Stava di Tesero, that teaches respect for the mountains; finally the museum of the Guardia di Finanza Alpine School, in Predazzo. Outside the valley, the Ladin Museum of Fassa and the Museum of the customs and traditions of people in Trentino, in San Michele all’Adige, certainly deserve a visit.

Un respiro fra arte e natura al cospetto di un immenso capolavoro naturale, il Latemar “RespirArt - Pampeago Green&White Gallery” A breath taken in the art and nature at the foot of a great natural masterpiece, the Mt. Latemar Pampeago, meta turistica della Val di Fiemme, si trasforma in una galleria d’arte a cielo aperto, da ammirare sia durante la stagione estiva, sia durante l’inverno. “RespirArt Pampeago Green&White Gallery” è la prima mostra di land art che si sviluppa durante l’intero anno. Sarà “verde”, come i pascoli e i boschi di Pampeago, e “bianca” come le sue distese innevate. Questa esposizione permanente di opere create nella natura con materiali naturali come il legno, le pietre, le foglie, la neve e il ghiaccio è promossa dalla società di impianti di risalita Latemar di Pampeago ed è ideata dall’artista Marco Nones e dalla giornalista Beatrice Calamari.

RespirArt vuole celebrare la bellezza della natura che circonda il massiccio del Latemar, uno dei paesaggi dolomitici dichiarati dall’Unesco “Patrimonio Naturale dell’Umanità”. Le opere di Marco Nones, realizzate con la collaborazione tecnica di Dario Zorzi e fotografica di Eugenio Del Pero, avranno il compito di risvegliare il senso di meraviglia di escursionisti e sciatori.

Pampeago, tourist resort in Val di Fiemme, becomes an outdoor art exhibition, to be admired both in summer and in winter. “RespirArt Pampeago Green&White Gallery” is the first land art exhibition that you can enjoy throughout the year. It is “green”, like the pastures and the forests of Pampeago, and “white”, like the land covered by snow.

This permanent exhibition of works of art created by the natural assembly of wood, stones, leaves, snow and ice is promoted by Pampeago’s lifts and is conceived by the artist Marco Nones and the journalist Beatrice Calamari. RespirArt celebrates the beauty of the nature that surrounds the Mt. Latemar, one of the Dolomites’ scenaries that UNESCO declared “World Natural Heritage”. Marco Nones’ works of art, realized with Davide Zorzi’s technical support and Eugenio Del Pero’s photographic cooperation, have the task of reawaken the sense of wonder of trekkers and skiers.

LATEMÀR, LA MONTAGNA ANIMATA LATEMÀR, THE ANIMATED MOUNTAIN Sul Latemar, fra Gardoné e il Passo Feudo, i bambini diventano cercatori di draghi, geologi, insettologi, erboristi, cuochi e riscoprono la poesia degli attrezzi utilizzati dai pastori. I bambini, giocando, potranno esplorare tre sentieri tematici: “La Foresta dei Draghi”, “Il pastore distratto” e il “Sentiero Geologico Dos Capel”. La Foresta dei Draghi è un nuovo percorso pianeggiante di un chilometro e mezzo, all’arrivo della telecabina Predazzo-Gardoné, dove si affacciano opere artistiche dedicate alle misteriose creature alate, protagoniste del racconto di Beatrice Calamari “Fiamme di ghiac-

cio sul Latemàr”. Ispirandosi a questo libro, l’artista di land art Marco Nones, con la collaborazione di Dario Zorzi, ha creato un grande Nido di Drago posato fra le radici di tre alberi rovesciati. Il sentiero “Il pastore distratto” invita a cercare strumenti dimenticati lungo il cammino come la mangiatoia, gli scarponi, lo sgabello e il secchio per mungere. Camminando si incontra un dendrofono, per comporre le sinfonie del bosco, un curioso percorso kneipp da attraversare a piedi nudi fino al ruscello e uno spazio creativo dove di possono creare opere d’arte con rametti, foglie e sassi.

On the Latemar mountain chain in Predazzo, between Gardoné and the Feudo Pass, kids become dragons’ seekers, geologists, bugs experts, herbalists, cooks and discover old tools used by shepherds. Kids can explore three different theme-trails: “The Dragon Forest”, “The Trail of the absentminded herdsman” and the “Dolomiti Geological trial”. The Dragon Forest is a new flat trail of 1.5 kms which starts from the arrival of the cable-car Predazzo-Gardonè. Marco Nones, a land art artist,

inspired by this book created, in collaboration with Dario Zorzi, a huge Dragon Nest which rests on the roots of three upsidedown trees. Along the trail “The absentminded herdsman” kids can look for his forgotten tools such as a trough, his boots, his stool and his milking jug. You will also come across a dendrophone to compose woods symphonies, a kneipp path which can be crossed barefoot and a clearing where you can create art pieces with sticks, leaves and small rocks.

È stata posizionata, assieme a una croce visibile anche dal passo, sulla cima Castellazzo, a quota 2.333, spartiacque tra la Val di Fiemme e il Primiero. THE TREKKING OF THE THINKING CHRIST Anyone hiking in summer 2009 in the area of Passo Rolle, nearby the Pale di S. Martino, have certainly come upon the “Thinking Christ”. The statue has been located, along with a cross that

can be seen from the pass, at the top of Mount Castellazzo, a 2.333 m high mountain dividing Val di Fiemme from Primiero. The Trekking hiking trail starts off near Capanna Cervino and Baita Segantini and invites people to meditation and introspection, immersed in an enchanting environment. Designed by Nordic Walking instructor and Brain Walking deviser Pino Dellasega, the itinerary was inaugurated by journalist Paolo Brosio, who wrote about the trail in his last book. THE DOLOMITI TREKKING All Val di Fiemme hotels involved in the promotion of the itinerary propose four hikes a week, led by an alpine guide: in the area between Corno Bianco and Corno Nero; the Trekking of the Thinking Christ; from Manghen Pass to Lake Montalon; the lakes above Valmaggiore. La mitica granfondo Marcialonga Cycling è invece aperta ai cicloturisti. Una lunga pista ciclabile attraversa tutta la valle, lungo il torrente Avisio, promettendo 20 chilometri fra prati, ruscelli, cascatelle e fattorie, con un dislivello di appena 200 metri. La pista della Val di Fiemme è adatta alle famiglie e ai ciclisti o ai bikers che vogliono scaldarsi prima di affrontare una salita sui passi dolomitici o un tour nella vicina Val di Cembra.

Dalla pista partono dei tour su strada che si estendono fino al Parco Naturale di Paneveggio - Pale di S. Martino (83 km), dove si può ammirare la riserva dei cervi, o ai quattro passi dolomitici del Sellaronda (120 km). Sono 20 i percorsi per la mountain-bike lungo le stradine forestali che si snodano fra i boschi di abete. Fra i più divertenti quelli del bike-park dell’Alpe Cermis, dal tracciato più impegnativo che segue la telecabina, al percorso soft che da Dosso dei Larici porta a Salanzada, dove si possono gustare piatti tipici in agritur. Se si carica la bici sulla telecabina del Cermis, il tragitto è tutto in discesa.

Biking in Val di Fiemme means following the treads of champion cyclists on the Alpe di Pampeago, a classical stage in the Tour of Italy and Tour of Trentino, or across panoramic Dolomite passes. The legendary Marcialonga Cycling track is open to all cycle tourists. A long cycle path crosses the valley all along river Avisio, offering a 20-km itinerary among fields, streams, waterfalls and farms, with only an overall 200 m change in altitude. L’area si estende nel Trentino orientale tra le Valli di Fiemme, Fassa e la Valsugana. Fra i numerosi tracciati proposti, il Tour del Latemar, lungo 33 km, adatto a tutte le gambe grazie alla possibilità di salire in quota con la bici utilizzando gli impianti di risalita. Partendo da Predazzo si raggiunge il Passo Feudo per poi ammirare il lago color smeraldo di Carezza, le cime del Latemar, Moena e la lunga pista ciclabile di Fiemme e Fassa.

The area includes Fiemme, Fassa Valley and Valsugana. Between the numerous tracks, the Latemar Tour, 33 km, is ideal for everyone considered you can use the lifts to reach the top of the mountain. From Predazzo you go up to Passo Feudo, ride beside Carezza Lake, admire the Latemar Chain, Moena and descend along the cycle path of Fiemme and Fassa.

Se posso fare questo, posso fare tutto! Questa è la filosofia dell’associazione senza scopo di lucro e con fini d’utilità sociale fondata nella convinzione che la persona con disabilità è una risorsa sulla quale la collettività deve investire per un pieno recupero sia sul piano del lavoro, della produzione intellettuale, sia del tempo libero e, quindi, dei rapporti e delle relazioni interpersonali. L’organizzazione propone corsi di sci per persone con disabilità durante tutta la stagione invernale, da dicembre a fine marzo. Le lezioni sono organizzate sulla base delle singole esigenze degli allievi. I corsi di sci alpino si realizzano sulle piste di Bellamonte-Lusia. La sede invernale di SportAbili è proprio alla partenza di questi impianti di risalita. I corsi di sci nordico si svol-

gono al Centro del fondo di Lago di Tesero e sono tenuti da maestri di sci specializzati per l’insegnamento a persone disabili. L’associazione ha in dotazione gli ausili per ogni tipo di disabilità: monosci (anche per bambini da dieci/dodici anni e per taglie extra large), bisci per adulti e bambini, dualski, stabilizzatori per la discesa, slitte per i disabili fisici seduti. Gli impianti di risalita di Bellamonte-Lusia hanno degli accorgimenti, sia alle porte di entrata, ai girelli, sia sulla pedana di accesso all’impianto, che consentono di usufruire degli impianti stessi, con comodità e con maggiore facilità. I rifugi sono dotati di sedie a rotelle per chi, durante la giornata, vuole riposare al caldo, ascoltare un po’ di musica, ritemprare lo spirito. Durante il periodo estivo l’associazione Onlus organizza attività ricreative quali equitazione, tennis in carrozzina, roccia, tiro con l’arco, nuoto, gite in bicicletta, rafting e hydrospeed. A questo si aggiungono ovviamente anche escursioni sia al Parco Naturale di Paneveggio che fra le montagne e i boschi della Val di Fiemme e il servizio di accompagnamento sportivo per i non vedenti.

In Val di Fiemme everyone can enjoy sport, thanks to the commitment of a disabled association to eliminate architectural barriers even from the ski slopes, making sport possible in Val di Fiemme for persons with physical, sensorial or mental disabilities. If I can do this, I can do anything! This is the philosophy of the non-profit social association founded on the belief that disabled persons are a valuable resource in which society as a whole must invest to provide them with equal opportunities both in the workplace, offering empowerment in terms of intellectual productivity, and in leisure, offering empowerment in terms of interpersonal relations. The organisation offers ski courses for disabled persons throughout winter, from December to the end of March. Lessons are based on the individual needs of the learner. Downhill ski courses are held on the Bellamonte-Lusia ski slopes. The winter headquarters of SportAbili is located near the lower ski lift stations of these ski slopes. The Nordic ski courses are held at the cross country skiing centre

at Lago di Tesero by ski instructors specialised in teaching disabled persons. A team of fully trained volunteers assist the instructors and teachers throughout the courses. The association has facilities to cater for all disabilities: monoskis (also for children aged 10-12 years and for extra large sizes), bi-skis for adults and children, dual-skis, downhill skiing stabilisers and sleds for persons with lower body disabilities. The Bellamonte-Lusia ski lifts have specially modified entry turnpikes and access platforms for facilitated access for disabled persons. Wheelchairs are available at the refuges for anyone wanting to take a break from the winter cold in a warm comfortable environment, listen to a little music and regain their strengths. During summer season the association organises leisure activities such as horse riding, wheelchair tennis, rock climbing, archery, swimming, cycles, nature appreciation outings, rafting and hydrospeed riding. Excursions are available to the Paneveggio Natural Park to experience the mountains and forests of Val di Fiemme. We also provide sports assistance for the blind.

Una freccia sulla schermata del palmare mostra la posizione lungo il sentiero e segnala l’eventuale allontanamento dal percorso selezionato. Ma il palmare suggerisce anche i nomi delle cime o le specie di animali, fiori e alberi che si incontrano, e offre anche informazioni storiche e geologiche. Questo gioiello tecnologico è distribuito gratuitamente dagli

alberghi convenzionati e si può noleggiare negli uffici Apt della Val di Fiemme. In alcuni alberghi e negli uffici Apt è disponibile anche un computer-totem per visualizzare i dieci sentieri a volo d’aquila e per realizzare, al ritorno, una cartolina ricordo dell’escursione. Il palmare, infatti, memorizza tutto e può permettere di stampare la gita, con il percorso fatto, il tempo impiegato, il dislivello coperto, le più belle foto, incluse quelle scattate con la propria macchina digitale. An arrow on the PDA’s screen shows your position along the track and warns you whenever you wander off the selected route. The palmtop also suggests the names of the peaks and species of animals, flowers and plants you meet along the way and provides historical and geological information.

This small technological jewel is available free of charge at hotels affiliated to the project or can be hired from Val di Fiemme tourist offices. Basepoint desktop facilities are also available at some hotels and tourist offices, providing a 3D preview of the ten routes and prints of souvenir cards. The PDA memorises all details of your outing and allows you to print them out on your return: route, length, difficulty and photos, including those taken with your digital camera. It is a very helpful and easy-to-use gadget, even for kids, who will have a great time looking out for rock rampions or majestic interwined tree branches, inviting to a climb.

IL BOSCO CHE SUONA The Singing Wood Fiemme è la Valle dell’Armonia. I suoi boschi sono fra i più accoglienti e ben tenuti grazie alla gestione della millenaria Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme. In queste foreste, al cospetto delle Dolomiti trentine, domina l’abete rosso che fornisce un pregiato legno di risonanza già impiegato da Antonio Stradivari e da altri grandi maestri liutai come i Guarnieri e gli Amati. Per onorare gli alberi della musica, la Val di Fiemme ospita, ogni estate, la cerimonia del “Bosco che Suona”. I musicisti di fama internazionale che partecipano alla rassegna “I Suoni delle Dolomiti” sono chiamati a scegliere l’abete di risonanza che per

sempre porterà il loro nome. Con questo “battesimo” la Val di Fiemme li ringrazia per aver onorato l’abete rosso di Fiemme con cui sono realizzate le tavole armoniche dei loro strumenti. In questo tempio della musica a cielo aperto sono già 15 gli abeti che portano nomi “risonanti”, da Uto Ughi, a Giovanni Allevi, da Uri Caine a Ivry Gitlis. Per scoprire questi alberi “maestri” è possibile immergersi nel Bosco che Suona con un’audioguida, distribuita dagli uffici Apt Val di Fiemme, che descrive il “carattere” e le caratteristiche degli abeti e la vita degli artisti a cui sono stati intitolati, eseguendo alcune delle loro melodie.

Fiemme is a valley of harmony. Its woods are among the most welcoming and neatest in the world thanks to the careful safeguarding activity by the millenary institution “Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme”. Stretching at the foot of Trentino Dolomites, these forests are largely populated by Norway spruce trees, used since centuries for their renowned soundboard wood, already highly prized by Antonio Stradivari and other master lutists, like Guarnieri and Amati. Every summer, Val di Fiemme celebrates its musical trees with the ceremony of the “Singing Wood”. Worldwide famous musicians, performing at “The Sounds of the Dolomites” festival, are invited to

choose their resonance tree, which from then on will display a plate with their name. Through a sort of “baptising” ritual, Val di Fiemme wishes to thank musicians for choosing the local sounding spruce for the construction of their instruments. This open air music temple already counts 15 trees with “resonant” names, such as Uto Ughi, Giovanni Allevi, Daniel Hope and Uri Caine. Plunge into the “Singing Wood” and discover its “Maestro” trees with the aid of an audioguide – available at the local tourist offices – describing their “character” and features as well as telling the lives of the artists whom the trees are dedicated, on the tunes of their main melodies.

Uniting the great passions for art and environment on a natural theatre stage like no others, the mountains of Trentino: this is the aim of “The Sounds of the Dolomites”, a cycle of concerts promoting freedom and nature in extraordinarily suggestive places, where music melds in perfect harmony with the sur-

rounding environment. The event gathers worldwide famous musicians, artists and mountain professionals who, instruments on their shoulders, join the audience in hiking to the performance places, showing full respect for the surrounding environment. Al Festival partecipano musicisti di fama internazionale, artisti e amanti della montagna che, nel rispetto dell’ambiente, si uniscono al pubblico e raggiungono a piedi i luoghi dei concerti, con lo strumento in spalla. cammino verso l’arte e la natura. È possibile partecipare a un’escursione guidata per raggiungere la zona del concerto prenotando la guida alpina. Sono previste anche uscite di nordic walking accompagnati da un istruttore. La partecipazione è libera e gratuita.

CLASSIFICAZIONE DEGLI APPARTAMENTI PRIVATI PER FERIE Classification system for private holiday apartments L’ ApT della Val di Fiemme nel 2009 ha voluto aderire con entusiasmo ad un progetto provinciale che mira ad una maggiore regolamentazione degli appartamenti privati destinati ad affittanze turistiche. Il progetto prevede il sopraluogo da parte di personale addetto presso tutte le strutture associate all’ApT e la loro classificazione, da 1 a 4 genziane, secondo criteri oggettivi che analizzano tutti gli aspetti importanti ai fini del comfort offerto: dalla qualità dell’arredamento alla disposizione dei locali, dalla presenza del parcheggio a quella di apparecchiature come lavatrice o lavastovi-

glie, più eventuali “plus” come ad esempio collegamento internet, biciclette a disposizione o barbecue. Questo permette al personale dell’Azienda per il Turismo di migliorare il livello di conoscenza delle strutture aderenti e poter orientare efficacemente l’ospite garantendo la qualità delle soluzioni proposte. Un gruppo di lavoro/rappresentanza di proprietari lavora costantemente insieme all’ApT per proseguire questa attività che ha previsto tra l’altro anche la creazione di un regolamento condiviso per le affittanze e dei prezzi indicativi min/max che possano essere da guida per tutti.

In 2009, the Val di Fiemme Tourist Board enthusiastically signed up a provincial project applying stricter regulations to private apartments for holiday rentals. All the apartments signed up to the local tourist board are subject to inspections by officers in charge, who assign a 1 to 4 gentian category, according to objective standards that analize what the facilities offer in terms of comfort: furniture quality and rooms layout; availability of parking spaces or household appliances such as washing machine and dishwasher; any other “surplus value”, like Internet access, bicycles or barbecue.

The local Tourist Board will thus have a better knowledge of the apartments available, in order to assure its guests the most appropriate accommodation solution and the best quality. A group of owners’ representatives is constantly working on the project with the local tourist board to establish, among other things, common rental rules and the indicative minimum/maximum prices that will serve as a guide for everyone. The new holiday apartment catalogue will be available by August 2010 at the local tourist offices, providing all useful information for your next vacation in Val di Fiemme!
