The inclusion of Kayland in the Novation S.p.A. family of brands, has allowed Kayland to benefit from the myriad of synergies and experience of a company that has always distinguished itself by its culture, strategy, and innovation. In particular, Kayland has benefited from the development experience of established brands Jolly Scarpe and Cosmas relative to footwear for technical rescue and special forces. The R&D department has had the opportunity to apply unique production technologies matched with true manufacturing craftsmanship and an in depth knowledge of the outdoor space to develop footwear that is distinguished in the market for its functional characteristics and technical innovation, allowing mountaineers, backpackers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts to continually push their performance limits in maximum comfort. Kayland steps ahead with gore-tex®

Over the past several years, W.L. Gore & Associates and Novation S.p.A. have developed a close partnership. The synergies between the two companies have been further enhanced through W.L. Gore's selection of the Kayland® brand as one of its strategic partners. GORE-TEX® technologies are now used in all of Novation S.p.A.'s footwear brands including Kayland®, Cosmas®, Jolly Scarpe®, and TCX®. The granting of the GORE-TEX® license is another important step ahead for Kayland, representing a reward for many years of hard work in the outdoor industry.

The fit of a shoe begins with the form and design of the last. The last is a replica of the human foot, around which the upper is stretched to give the boot its internal shape. Research into design is fundamental because it determines the comfort of the fit and influences the end use of the product. Kayland has been taking feedback from male and female athletes and mountaineers for nearly 40 years to painstakingly develop its range of lasts to ensure an optimal combination of fit and performance for specific uses. In addition to the subdivision between men’s and women’s, the Kayland Exclusive Fit can be divided into two distinct categories: Precise Fit and Comfort Fit. The I.A.D.S. (Integrated Absorbing Drive System) is a technology designed and developed by Kayland as a cushioning and integrated stabilizing system located in the midsole heel area. The system has been developed for 3 separate footwear applications and end uses:

Continued research and collaboration with Novation’s development department has allowed Kayland’s R&D team to create exclusive, composite lasting boards, designated ECT (Engineered Composite Technology), which provide the correct flexibility and stability for the foot. The forefoot zone optimizes push off, while the arch and heel zones enhance overall support and torsional stability. Vibram® Tork The profile and thickness of the sole have been designed specifically for Backpacking, with multiple tread patterns in various zones providing support, stability, traction and grip. When pushing off while ascending, biomechanically, the foot naturally rotates slightly medially. The Tork Concept, thanks to a radial tread pattern, provides secure grip and helps direct the push off in the direction of travel.
