The inclusion of Kayland in the Novation S.p.A. family of brands, has allowed Kayland to beneﬁt from the myriad of synergies and experience of a company that has always distinguished itself by its culture, strategy, and innovation. In particular, Kayland has beneﬁted from the development experience of established brands Jolly Scarpe and Cosmas relative to footwear for technical rescue and special forces. The R&D department has had the opportunity to apply unique production technologies matched with true manufacturing craftsmanship and an in depth knowledge of the outdoor space to develop footwear that is distinguished in the market for its functional characteristics and technical innovation, allowing mountaineers, backpackers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts to continually push their performance limits in maximum comfort.

1 LAST AND UPPER Forma e tomaia The fi t of a shoe begins with the form and design of the last. The last is a replica of the human foot, around which the upper is stretched to give the boot its internal shape. Research into design is fundamental because it determines the comfort of the fit and influences the end use of the product. Kayland has been taking feedback from male and female athletes and mountaineers for nearly 40 years to painstakingly develop its range of lasts to ensure an optimal combination of fit and performance for specific uses.

La forma è l’elemento che simula il piede umano durante il processo di produzione, per creare i volumi attorno ai quali viene costruita la tomaia. Lo studio del design è fondamentale perchè determina il comfort della calzata e inﬂuisce sul tipo di utilizzo del prodotto.
