From the long experience of Kayland’s manufacturing comes Kayland Exclusive Fit. This system combines last, insole, materials and lacing systems to adjust the fit to the type of use and user, for maximum performance and perfect comfort.
The I.A.D.S. (Integrated Absorbing Drive System) is a technology designed and developed by Kayland® as a cushioning and integrated stabilizing system located in the midsole heel area. The system has been developed for 5 separate footwear applications and end uses.

Lacing system
The fit of a shoe begins with the form and design of the last. The last is a replica of the human foot, around which the upper is stretched to give the boot its internal shape. Research into design is fundamental because it determines the comfort of the fit and influences the end use of the product. Kayland® has been taking feedback from male and female athletes and mountaineers for nearly 40 years to develop its range of lasts to ensure an optimal combination of fit and performance for specific uses.
Kayland® designs and manufactures ergonomic lacing systems, specific for each model, which ensure that the upper wraps the foot optimally. The placement of the laces is designed to allow the upper to flex and bend in accordance with the natural flexing and bending of the foot during walking. Ankle Lock System This exclusive system utilizes a free-floating support strap positioned above the ankle, which integrates with the lacing system to anchor the heel in the heelcup and enhance ankle support without inhibiting the natural movement of the joint. Asymmetrical Lacing System The Asymmetrical Lacing System encourages the footwear to flex where the foot flexes naturally at the metatarsal-phalangeal joints, and ensures that the upper wraps the foot optimally, providing maximum comfort and sensitivity. Fast Lacing System Fast Lacing System is the new Kayland®-designed system that works in synergy with prolonged, asymmetric lacing to guarantee perfect comfort and fit, especially in the heel and ankle area. This ergonomic system in the upper offers an anchorage point for lacing with a highly resistant, long lasting lace.

Ankle Lock System Questo esclusivo sistema è costituito da una fascia mobile posizionata sopra la caviglia che consente di ancorare il piede e, in sinergia con l’allacciatura, di regolare la chiusura del gambetto, proteggendo l’articolazione senza ostacolarne i movimenti. Asymmetrical Lacing System Il sistema di allacciatura asimmetrico consente alla tomaia di avvolgere con la massima precisione ogni singola parte del piede conferendo alla calzatura comfort e sensibilità anche negli utilizzi più estremi. Fast Lacing System Fast Lacing System è il nuovo sistema progettato da Kayland® che, lavorando in sinergia con l’allacciatura prolungata ed asimmetrica, garantisce il massimo avvolgimento ed un’ottimale tenuta del piede, in particolare nell’area del tallone/caviglia. Il sistema, posizionato in maniera ergonomica sulla tomaia, offre un punto di ancoraggio dell’allacciatura, tramite la presenza di un cordino ad alta tenacità e resistente all’usura.
Lightness and flexibility are the main features of this new solution designed for Kayland’s Approach and Hiking ranges. The use of Phylon in the midsole increases lightness, while the high degree of flexibility is a result of the combination of the midsole, with an accentuated form in the metatarsal area with footbeds of different thicknesses. A polyurethane insert that offers excellent support when the foot is placed on the floor guarantees shock absorption in the heel area. The new microporous midsole in the I.A.D.S. version designed by Kayland® for its Mountaineering range, gives the whole structure of the sole unprecedented lightness. Torsional stability is guaranteed by the rigid footbed, while the polyurethane insert ensures shock absorption in the heel area and offers maximum support when the foot is placed on the floor. The profile and thickness of the sole have been designed specifically for Backpacking, with multiple tread patterns in various zones providing support, stability, traction and grip. When pushing off while ascending, biomechanically, the foot naturally rotates slightly medially. The Tork Concept, thanks to a radial tread pattern, provides secure grip and helps direct the push off in the direction of travel.
The new outsole, developped with Vibram® specifically for Kayland®, offers an outstanding combination of grip and durability. It is ideal for use in “all season” hiking. The pattern presents large contact lugs for an improved stability as well as an engraved shank for better traction on uneven grounds. A toe bumper is studied to offer the right foot protection and grip on all terrains while braking lugs are positioned on the undercut heel to secure braking.

The pattern is studied to offer the right balance between stability and traction; specific grip areas together with a braking surface enhance the safe walking in any terrain.
Outsole designed and developed with the Vibram® Development Center exclusively for Kayland®, with a tread pattern suited for Hiking and Multiactivity outdoor use. The arch of the foot is suitable for safe outdoor use.

Approach line is developed using tubular construction, same technology used in the free climbing shoes, granting an extremely precise fitting in combination with comfort. Fitting is adherent and very precise, allowing technical, almost extreme use, giving the possibility to “feel” and take advantage of ascending terrain roughness. La calzata è aderente ed estremamente precisa, favorendo un utilizzo molto tecnico e quasi estremo, consentendo di “sentire” e quindi sfruttare le asperità del percorso in salita. Nel contempo l’utilizzo di materiale di altissima qualità ne garantisce leggerezza e piacevolezza anche per un utilizzo quotidiano.

Tubular construction The tubular construction allows the shoe to be worn like a sock. Uppers are lasted and finished before sole mounting, therefore upper material adheres 360 degrees around the feet and is joined in the bottom part with a micro-stitching. When shoe is finished and already shaped, the shock absorber of the sole is connected to the upper, the rand is glued and sole tread attached as final stage. La costruzione tubolare permette alla scarpa di essere indossata come una calza. La tomaia viene messa in forma e finita prima del montaggio della suola, pertanto il materiale della tomaia aderisce attorno al piede a 360 gradi ed è unito nella parte inferiore con una microcucitura. SS 201 4 Downtown, in the subway or in our office our mind is always there, in places where we feel good. “Outdoor” spirit is an innermost feeling that we want to externalise .We want to be ready, in any moment, to face an “outdoor” situation. Multiactivity line has been specifically developed for a daily use, also in urban situation, but with special hints making the shoes really technical. Extremely lightweight, breathable, waterproof, all shoes are made with genuine leather and mounted with minimal sole units. The frontal genuine rubber rand makes them also very resistant.......and nice looking.

La linea Multiactivity è studiata proprio per un uso quotidiano, anche in ambienti urbani, ma con accorgimenti che ne permettono tranquillamente un uso più tecnico. Leggerissime, traspiranti, impermeabili, sono tutte costruite in vera pelle e montate con suole molto leggere. Protette nella parte frontale da fascione in pura gomma sono anche molto resistenti......... e belle.
