Myotis evotis! Claire Madsen, left, and Jaiden Panchyshyn spent two evenings volunteering with the bat survey at Waterton Lakes National Park last week. In the bag is a Myotis evotis (long-earred bat), the first one caught in the research study. The girls were troopers, helping out until almost 3 a.m. both nights. The future of bats is in jeopardy due to white nose disease, which has huge implications on our ecosystem. See story on page 3.
