My Little Corner

This week Brad has put together a huge story about bowling and the memories that can be made through a shared family activity.

This picture immediately came to mind, and I asked my parents to send a copy my way.

There are many great things about bowling – it’s a sport anyone can do, no special equipment is required and it’s affordable.

At the time this photo was taken, our family didn’t have many extras. My parents both worked at the Prince Albert Daily Herald – Dad as managing editor and Mom as a proofreader. We all made the best of precious family time around Dad’s busy work schedule.

Each year, eligible bowling alleys offer a Family Twosome tournament as a Youth Bowling Canada event. This is a chance for kids to bowl with a parent or other adult figure in their life.

The trophy in my hand is for winning that tournament back when I was 10, but I think the happy smile on my face is for spending a day hanging out with my dad, doing something we both enjoyed.

These are typical memories that can be made at the bowling alley.

At first I was embarrassed that I didn’t have a fancy bowling shirt like many of the other kids did. Instead, I had a plain, collared top that I soon came to wear with pride. I learned to sew and carefully added each badge as it was earned.

I Beat My Coach, I Beat My Average, and other badges to acknowledge achievements cover the little blue shirt tucked away in a drawer.

I remember the rush of adrenaline that accompanied Four Steps to Stardom tournaments and zone championships.

Good sportsmanship was expected and the bowling alleys reverberated with cheering and the slapping sound of high fives.

I can close my eyes and go back to these days and the awesome, noisy atmosphere of an alley on tournament day. Regular league days were full of camaraderie and spirit too.

I recall selling chocolate-covered almonds door to door as part of the fundraising commitment for YBC. It’s funny to think back to days when a 10-year-old could do this, alone in the city, with no worries.

I had an aversion to rental shoes, and always wanted a pair to call my own. I wanted this even more than I wanted a club shirt.

Back in the days when people could smoke wherever they chose, a huge cloud of smoke would billow out whenever the door to the bowling alley was opened. Our coaches were even known to pause for a puff during games. Lanes are now smoke-free, but in my mind the hazy atmosphere is connected to the game.

My brother, sister and I all did well in the sport and stuck with it through our early teens until our interests focused more strongly on other things. Although none of us are currently league bowlers, we’ve had many fun family get-togethers at the lanes. We’re all pretty competitive, but Dad remains the Strike King.

I have nothing but great memories of my bowling days, and who knows, maybe one of these days I’ll get a pair of shoes all my own.

Booth award for The Gathering The Pincher Creek Cowboy Gathering took a booth at the Lethbridge Home and Garden Show this year. It was the first time the Cowboy Gathering had attempted this form of public awareness campaign, and it was a resounding success. The booth was selected from over 490 booths to receive a 5-Star Booth Award, presented by show organizers and by BDO Chartered Accountants and Advisors.

Brian Hamilton and Janet Barkwith manned the booth for all four days at the show, with much-appreciated help on Friday from fellow committee members Noel Burles and Bob Davis, who played guitar and mandolin to entertain the passing crowds.

Booth décor consisted of a version of this year’s poster; past years’ posters and artwork; information about some of 2013’s performers and the events on offer at The Gathering; a rolling display of photographs from past Gatherings, and many items of cowboy gear and paraphernalia.

Pride of place was taken by a large silhouette of The Gathering’s logo of three cowboys around a campfire. Items from The Gathering’s Three Cowboys home décor collection were on sale, and were snapped up by eager show visitors.

Also on display were the unique custommade Gathering souvenir belt buckle and the equally unique, handmade sterling silver earrings.

These will be auctioned on June 15 at the Cowboy Gathering.

Countless children sat on the fine saddle on display, to have their photograph taken. Each one of the many people who stopped by the booth went away with a happy smile, the dates and location of The Gathering, and much information about the cowboy way, cowboy music and stories, and other related information.

Happy 100th birthday, Selma!

Surrounded by family, friends and wellwishers, Selma Tustian celebrated a tremendous milestone – her 100th birthday – on March 2.

It was a busy afternoon with a program hosted by grandchildren Susan Gregory and Doug Pharis. They noted that Selma has lived through quite a bit of history, including four different monarchs, 15 prime ministers and 13 premiers.

She also has a history of her own to be proud of.

The program included lovely musical tributes performed by Selma’s extended family, with vocal, piano and violin solos.

For Selma, the highlight was their rendition of “When There’s Love at Home,” sung in beautiful harmony to wrap things up. Love, music and family have built a strong foundation for Selma and those near and dear to her. This song brought it all together for them on a happy day.

Selma was born near Vulcan, the secondoldest of four girls in the Wood family. Her mother died after a flu epidemic when Selma was only six, so responsibility was a trait learned at a young age.

The family eventually left the farm, and her father spent most of his working life as a grain buyer. Selma’s sister, Marie Smyth, recalls Selma attending four different schools during her high school years.

“Dad was a great believer in education for girls,” Selma says. “We all knew we were expected to get through high school and at least one year after that, and he saw to that.”

Selma loved school from the first day. She and two of her sisters trained to become teachers, while Marie chose to take a business course.

A focus on education has carried through generations, with many extended family members choosing to follow Selma into the teaching field.

Their father and stepmother eventually settled in Cowley, and though the girls were grown, they spent summer holidays there. Marie adds that it was on these summer visits the young women all met the men they would marry.

Selma recalls that Cowley had many activities for young people and was a lively little town. It was there she met Arthur Tustian. “And here I am all these years later,” she says with a smile.

She spent a summer in Cowley before return-

ing to her teaching job east of Champion, but she had met her man. “A month later I called the folks to say I was coming home, and Arthur and I were married at Christmas,” she says.

Selma and Arthur welcomed three daughters – Barbara, Patricia and Joyce – and Selma didn’t teach for 10 or 15 years while raising their family.

Making music together was a natural thing for the Tustian family. Selma describes Arthur as “quite a good violinist” who played in the Crowsnest Pass Orchestra for many years. She played the piano herself, and the girls all had lessons.

With her first paycheque after returning to teaching, Selma bought Arthur a new trombone.

Selma taught at the Cowley school for about 17 years and has many fond recollections of her former students. “Cody Johnson is one of the nicest kids, he really is,” she says.

Cody wasn’t able to attend the birthday celebration, but has fond thoughts of Selma and always enjoys their visits.

“Mrs. Tustian was my first teacher, so it was a pretty special time,” he says. “She was warm and had an even way with everyone – many kids blossomed under that.”

At the end of first grade, Cody wrote a note to his teacher, saying “When I’m in Grade 2, I’ll come to visit you.” It was returned to him many years later, and as a teacher himself, he understands how special those words were.

Cody adds that Selma is well remembered by everyone as a wonderful teacher and a strong member of the Cowley community.

Selma eventually moved to Pincher Creek after Arthur’s passing. She says she found it different than what she was used to, but she liked it.

In the year 2000, Selma and her sisters Marie and Dorothy all moved to Crestview Lodge. “This was quite nice for us and for our families for visiting,” Marie says.

Three years ago, Selma moved to Vista Village.

She likes both seniors homes and says she can’t complain. Marie says it’s not very handy to be in two separate places, though. She is grateful to people, like their niece Janice Day, who make sure

she and Selma are able to spend time together.

The sisters chat by phone every morning and work on crossword puzzles as a team. A challenge Selma lives with is macular degeneration, leaving her unable to see or write well. It’s difficult because she’s always loved reading and puzzles.

Selma recalls hearing a radio for the first time when she was 10. It belonged to one of the elevator agents her father worked with. “I loved it from the time I heard it, but I didn’t miss what we didn’t have,” she says.

Selma enjoys listening to her TV to keep up with local and world events, and Janice has hooked her up with a playback machine to listen to music and audiobooks.

Selma’s fingers know their way around the piano keys by heart, and Marie recalls how much Selma loved to have a group gather around the piano to sing hymns together on Sunday evenings.

One hundred years of love, music and family have made Selma a woman held in high regard by many. She is sincere in expressing gratitude to all who put together her birthday celebration and to all who came.

“One wonders what the next 100 years will bring forth,” she muses.

We hope you’re able to enjoy many more.

A sport for all ages, with fun to spare

A good sport is one you get hooked on at a young age and can continue with throughout your lifetime. Chinook Lanes in Pincher Creek and Rocky Mountain Lanes in Crowsnest Pass offer bowling for all ages and abilities, and a chance to take on a sport for life.

A special part is building memories with family through the sport, and family events have often inspired young bowlers to keep up the hobby for years.

Teens like Michael Hansen, Zachary Nazarek, Travis Dyer and Trent Dyer are familiar faces at Chinook Lanes, where they took up the sport as youngsters and now bowl with the adults.

Michael Hansen started bowling as a little kid because he saw his dad doing it.

“It was fun and it kept me out of bad stuff,” he says, which is why he has kept it up for 12 years. He is now 19 and an employee of Chinook Lanes.

He’s gone on to achieve a bit, and says he’s most proud of placing third in a provincial youth competition in Calgary this year.

Bowling isn’t overly strenuous, making the game accessible to all. Zachary started bowling, at the suggestion of a teacher, when he was seven. He struggled to keep up with other kids in baseball and soccer, and bowling turned out to be a good fit. He won a $1,000 scholarship after writing an essay on how with bowling he could be like everybody else.

Today, Zachary coaches kids in bowling, working with ages six to 15. He says they’re all good kids and he enjoys working with them.

Zachary enjoys building relationships with fellow bowlers from other communities and meeting new people through the sport. He also likes the atmosphere of Chinook Lanes, calling it “a great place to be.”

Twin brothers Travis and Trent Dyer of Pincher Creek are in Grade 9 and have been bowling since kindergarten.“Our parents just wanted us to do something,” Trent says. “We ended up liking it quite a bit, so we kept doing it.”

Travis particularly enjoys going to tournaments where he has the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

Bowling can also bring families closer together. These days, Travis and Trent mostly hang out with different crowds, but bowling is a hobby they share with each other and with their parents.

Meeting people is one reason Rae-Ann took over the Blairmore alley 10 years ago. She also loves throwing parties and loves the sport itself.

ladies, youth and seniors, a Special Olympics league and a mixed league for men and women. In total, about 61 bowlers take part in the five leagues.

Glow bowling, public bowling and good snacks are popular features at the alley. It is also a licensed facility for alcohol for adults.

“The great thing about bowling is that it’s a very fun sport for people of any age,” says RaeAnn. League bowlers have started at the age of four and she sees bowlers as old as 91.

Most of the leagues are more fun than competitive, and public bowling is probably more popular, including birthday celebrations.

Rae-Ann says there aren’t any major tournaments coming up for Rocky Mountain Lanes because it’s nearing the end of its season.

The alley is actually up for sale, however, and a new owner may keep it open during the summer. Rae-Ann is selling it just because she’s ready to do other things, and the alley is priced to encourage someone to buy.

Denise Somerville, manager of Chinook Lanes in Pincher Creek, says hosting family events is how you get and retain participants.

There are 150 people in Chinook’s leagues, and few of them are newcomers. Many youngsters start out in the Youth Bowling Canada program and continue through to adult leagues.

There is a waiting list for YBC spots each year.

As a member of the Canadian 5 Pin Bowling Association and Bowl Canada, Chinook Lanes offers leagues for kids, seniors and ladies, and mixed leagues of men and women. “We have something for everyone,” Denise says. She also notes that with bowling everyone gets equal time regardless of ability – every bowler plays every frame of every game.

Recently, Chinook Lanes held its most popular local competition, the Family Twosome tournament. A child and a family member play together in these events, and the kids get to show off their skills.

With 13 teams participating, Denise calls it a huge success.

Other fun events include the youth camps Chinook Lanes sometimes sends kids to. Six kids can go to somewhere like SAIT in Calgary for a week, paid for by the local 5 Pin Association, Denise explains. The Dyer twins have done some travelling for bowling camps, which Travis says are a lot of fun.

Glow bowling isn’t big at Chinook Lanes anymore, but customers can still book the alley to do it on Friday nights.

Instead, Denise emphasizes that the Pincher Creek alley offers computer scoring, lanes in great condition and a clean, bright environment. “I think everything we offer is special,” she says.

The Pincher Creek 5 Pin Association is responsible for upkeep of the lanes and equipment, and ensures a first-rate facility is offered to local bowlers. “Everything’s in good, working order,” Denise says.

Chinook Lanes has been open for 50 years, and while league action is busy, a challenge the business faces is visibility. “A lot of people don’t even know we’re here,” Denise says, referring to their location at the golf course.

Both alleys keep the game affordable. At Rocky Mountain Lanes, Rae-Ann says six people can share a lane for an hour for $25, and shoe rentals cost $1.50.

Meanwhile, Denise says it’s cheaper to bowl at Chinook Lanes than anywhere else in Alberta, thanks to the 5 Pin Association owning the equipment and maintaining the lanes.

A game costs $4, and shoes are $1 per pair.

Denise notes a family of four could bowl two games for less than $40, and league bowlers get an even better deal.

Coming up this Sunday is the Chinook Open Pins Game. It’s a fun tournament for everyone, featuring one-on-one bowling for prize money. Entries are accepted right up until the day of the event.

Follow the lead of Michael, Zachary, Travis and Trent, and give bowling a try. You never know, you just might get hooked.

By Brad Quarin It’s not too late to show your support for a local school and give some of its students a chance to take an unforgettable journey.

Grade 7 and 8 students of Livingstone School in Lundbreck are taking part in a contest called Canada’s Coolest School Trip, and you can vote for them until this Sunday.

Schools nationwide are competing in the online contest to win a trip to Nova Scotia for up to 30 students and six adults.

The lucky winners will see the Fortress of Louisbourg and Cape Breton Highlands National Park, after designing ads for one of those locations.

With Livingstone students learning the history of Louisbourg, teacher Tracey Preston-Hucik sees the contest as a chance to bring history to life for them. A small school like Livingstone doesn’t get this kind of opportunity often, and a trip to Eastern Canada might normally seem impossible, Tracey says.

The ads can be print, video or audio. The Livingstone students chose to do a print ad for the Fortress of Louisbourg, because it was something they could create with available computers.

Anyone with a valid email address can cast a vote every day. After voting closes on Sunday, judges will review the ads. Livingstone School has an extra challenge in bringing in votes since it’s smaller than other competing schools with thousands of students.

Family farm’s future is in good hands

Going from an urban setting to starting your own ranch – right down to building a road, moving a house and developing a spring – can’t be easy. But a local family gambled on doing that and did well enough to win one of the Pincher Creek and District Chamber of Commerce 2012 Awards of Excellence.

Gladstone Valley’s Stillridge Ranch, owned by Keith and Bev Everts, received the Family Farm Award for a lot of hard work.

Keith and Bev run the ranch with their daughter Eliza and son-in-law Adam Grose. Eliza and Adam have three children who also perform an important job for the ranch: “They give us joy and hope for the future,” Bev says. “We raised three great kids on the ranch, Eliza, Marie and Will, and now have the opportunity to share this special place with all of them and our grandchildren.”

Stillridge Ranch is part of WWOOF. No one can agree on what WWOOF stands for, but it basically refers to worldwide workers on organic farms, and a young German man is currently working on the farm. Simon Stehr, 22, found Stillridge Ranch online as part of a program allowing people interested in ranching to come give it a try. He had never been on a ranch before and is still pretty new to Canada, but he’s learning fast, Bev says.

The ranch also rents and leases property to others. “It’s an extended family for sure,” she says. “We couldn’t run the numbers of cattle and kind of operation we do without the support and belief in organic agriculture from others.”

The Everts family produces organic beef, and co-founded of the company Diamond Willow Organic Beef. They’ve since sold the company but still carry organic certification.

Bev is originally from Toronto, but she and Keith preferred to raise a family in a rural area.

After some education with the Green Certificate program and training with other ranchers like the Bonertz and McRae families, Stillridge Ranch was born in the early 1980s. Bev and Keith picked the location for its ideal grassland to keep cattle.

The hardest part, especially for someone from the city, was having no regular paycheque, Bev says. The venture was financially risky, but she calls Keith an “eternal optimist” who balanced out her pessimism.

The best part is raising a family and having grandkids nearby. “We’re very blessed to have this lifestyle,” Bev says.

As family farmers, Kevin and Bev hope young people will consider an agricultural career and lifestyle.

They see the Family Farm Award as recognition that considering the community’s agricultural future is important. “We look to the future and we see agriculture as alive and healthy,” Bev says.

The award is humbling, since they consider the other nominees worthy. “This is a wonderful ranching community,” she says, and they are grateful to their numerous mentors.

Besides the award, they’ve also received great customer feedback for Diamond Willow.

Many urbanites are interested in organic beef.

The Everts family are involved in church work and hope to stay where they are.

Cool Canadian encounters

In February, Crowsnest Consolidated High School student Jillian Montalbetti got to take a trip to Ottawa with the Encounters with Canada program.

The program was meant to teach her about the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but she also learned a lot from other students from across Canada.

“It was amazing,” she says. “It was really eye-opening to learn about all the different provinces and different people.”

Encounters with Canada gives teens the chance to visit Ottawa for a week and learn about a specific subject, such as arts or sciences.

Jillian applied after assistant principal Ian Baxter suggested it. A girl who graduated from CCHS two years ago also recommended the program.

“Everyone I talked to only heard good things about it,” Jillian says, and she was excited to apply. “As soon as I found out about it, I was right in there.”

She ranked the law-themed week as her first choice when applying to Encounters with Canada, as law is a career goal. She got her third choice, the RCMP-themed week, but that’s not bad. “I found it interesting, more interesting than I actually thought it was going to be,” she says.

During her five days in Ottawa, she stayed in a dormitory at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre, with a roommate from Prince Edward Island.

“We just got exposed to so many varieties of kids,” Jillian says. “That was the very first time I was exposed to a full week of bilingualism.”

As well, she says she learned “just lots about school systems,” which differ from province to province.

In the main program, she learned about a variety of things like bomb defusion, forensics, fingerprinting and special operations. The group also got to meet the RCMP commissioner.

The most interesting part of the program may have been visiting the Parliament Buildings, which she saw in session. “They were just enormous and really amazing,” she says.

The architecture reminded her of the cathedrals she saw in Paris and Barcelona on a trip she took last April.

Of course, all good things must come to an end. “You just got really connected with the kids you were with pretty quick, so after five days it’s pretty sad to leave,” Jillian says. But she’s still in touch with her new friends on Facebook, and they hope to meet one day again.

program to younger students. “It was lots of fun,” she says. “I’d definitely do it again.”

She’s also shared advice and recommendations – such as skating on Rideau Canal – with Elise Pundyk, another local student. Elise is going to Ottawa next month with Encounters to learn about foreign affairs.

Jillian’s mother, Lori Prentice, is also pleased with the program.

“It gave her insight which has changed her goals and appreciation for the diversity within Canada,” Lori says. “Can’t say enough about [how] terrific this program is.”

Curling club gets a huge boost

By Bob Costa Lebel Gallery in Pincher Creek was packed Saturday night for the opening reception of Works in Wood.

Fourteen artists were in attendance, showcasing their finest craftsmanship and talent with woodwork. Work was submitted by 17 artists from southwestern Alberta and from Montana,

representing an eclectic variety of talent. The quality is outstanding.

This is a show you won’t want to miss! It runs until April 19. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

It’s worth making the hike up the hill to Lebel Mansion – you’ll be glad you did!

Home business show on Saturday

By Brad Quarin Home is where the heart is, and it can also be a place of business. This Saturday, local home-based businesses will be showcased at an exhibition at the Blairmore Elks Hall.

“It’s a gathering of vendors to display their own businesses,” says Lynn Makeiv, who is organizing the exhibition and has a home business.

People from Crowsnest Pass and neighbouring communities will have tables to show off their products. The event is supposed to give locals ideas about what they can do to start their own home businesses, she says.

There will be 30 tables displaying a variety of goods. Lynn sells cookware and the other main organizer, Cathy Mountford, sells candle products, while others deal in jewelry, coffee and food products.

Not all of the vendors make their own goods, but one lady from Elkford will be there with homemade tutus.

“Hopefully we have something there for everybody,” Lynn says. In addition to satisfying residents’ curiosity about what’s out there, the event will also offer face painting for kids, and lunch served by Country Encounters. The food will be simple, but “obviously, it will be good,” she says.

Participants can also get into the Easter spirit, as there will be a competition to make Easter bonnets and wear them at the exhibition.

Lynn started holding home business exhibitions last April, and this will be her third. She started because the price to enter the main trade show, the Lifestyle Show, was too steep, though it’s now offering reduced rates for home businesses.

Several of the vendors coming to Lynn’s exhibition will also be at the Lifestyle Show on April 12 and 13.

When Lynn started making calls last April to look for exhibition participants, she found home businesses fairly common in Crowsnest Pass. “It’s surprising how many are in the Pass,” she says.

She believes the trend owes partly to convenience for the owners. “It gives them something to do, on their time,” she says, and “just gives them some extra income.” Running a home business also gives you chances to go out and meet new people.

Lynn says she is motivated in her own business by the quality of the products she sells.

She used to buy the cookware from a woman in Cowley, who is no longer selling.

Lynn hopes for a good crowd at the exhibition to show support for local businesses.

In challenging times, Pincher Creek Curling Club received a boost in the form of a $30,000 grant from a national program.

Managing the tremendous cost of repairing the old curling rink, which was shut down for a while, was made a little easier by the helping hand.

“I was very surprised,” says the club’s treasurer, Debbie Reed, explaining she doesn’t think the group had applied for such grants before. The news also went over well with the rest of the club. “They were quite happy.”

Since joining the club’s executive, Debbie has striven to have the building repaired or replaced. She went to Sandfly Marketing for help applying for grants.

The $30,000 grant came out of the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund. Matthew Whitson, a communications officer with Western Economic Diversification Canada, explains the fund is a $150-million program to “rehabilitate and improve existing community infrastructure.”

Debbie heard about the improvement fund on the radio, and Sandfly also contacted her about it.

Applying for the grant was a lot of work even with the help of Sandfly, Debbie says, and many emails were exchanged. The club had to explain how it could help the local economy, which it did by expressing its intentions to use local contractors for the repairs.

Additionally, to get the $30,000 grant, the curling club needed to raise $30,000 on its own. The club doesn’t receive many donations, but it’s been saving for a new building, and the town helped out as well. “We’re very thankful that the town and MD are working with us,” Debbie says.

She learned the club would get the grant when MP Ted Menzies phoned. Although it was exciting news, she had to keep it under her hat for a while.

All of the money will go to building repairs, including replacing doors and fixing rotting floors and a leaking roof.

While $30,000 may seem like a lot of money, the curling club’s problems aren’t completely solved yet, and it can use more support. Debbie estimates repair costs will total $125,000, and the club still plans to replace the building as well. There are also expenses like the $5,000 power bill for a month. “Curling is quite expensive,” Debbie says. “We have some pricey bills.”

Personally, Debbie likes the fun of curling as well as the “very good workout.” The club strengthens the community by building relationships and is open to everyone. “It doesn’t matter if you’re six or 86,” she says.

The cowboy goes to Lethbridge

By Janet Barkwith The Pincher Creek Cowboy Gathering took a booth at the Lethbridge Home and Garden Show this year. It was the first time the Cowboy Gathering had attempted this form of public awareness campaign, and it was a resounding success.

Cowboy Gathering committee members Brian Hamilton and Janet Barkwith manned the booth for all four eight-hour days at the show, with much-appreciated help on Friday from fellow committee members Noel Burles and Bob Davis, who played guitar and mandolin to entertain the passing crowds. At other times, visitors to The Gathering’s booth were entertained by recorded cowboy music played at the booth.

Booth décor consisted of a ver-

sion of this year’s poster; past years’ posters and artwork; information about some of 2013’s performers and the events on offer at The Gathering; a rolling display of photographs from past Gatherings, and many items of cowboy gear and paraphernalia supplied by committee members.Pride of place was taken by a large silhouette of The Gathering’s logo of three cowboys around a campfire. A “fire” was provided by Mike Barkwith, who put together some weathered logs, an old computer fan, a light bulb and some scraps of flame-coloured fabric, all of which together made a very realistic camp fire. Items from The Gathering’s Three Cowboys home décor collection were on sale, and were snapped up by eager show visitors.

These will be auctioned on June 15 at the Cowboy Gathering.

Countless children sat on the fine saddle on display, and had their photographs taken – complete with cowboy hat – by happy family members. Each one of the very many people who stopped by the booth went away with a happy smile, the dates and location of The Gathering, and much information about the cowboy way, cowboy music and stories, and other related information.

The Cowboy Gathering’s booth was selected out of over 490 booths to receive one of only a very few 5-Star Booth Awards presented by the organizers of the Lethbridge Home and Garden Show and by BDO Chartered Accountants and Advisors.

Brynn’s parents, Eliza and Adam Grose, are partners in Stillridge Ranch. The family business is located southwest of Pincher Creek, in Gladstone Valley, where they raise certified organic beef.
