DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

As the fall season begins to wind down and winter approaches, we hope you and your families have enjoyed the many programs and special events hosted by the Community Services Department over the past few months, including the Teen Wellness Retreat, Spooky Times at Deer Hollow Farm, Monster Bash, and the Holiday Bazaar.

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to share that preparations are underway for the Annual Tree Lighting Celebration on Monday, Dec. 9. We’ve planned some wonderful new surprises this year, and we can’t wait to celebrate the holiday season together with you, your family, and your friends.

In addition to sharing our exciting special events, I’m pleased to provide park project updates on behalf of the Community Services Department. Our team has been hard at work enhancing our parks and facilities to better serve the community, and I’m excited to keep you informed on these improvements as they unfold.

Evelyn Mini Park, located between S. Bernardo Avenue and Moorpark Way, is currently under construction. This 0.68-acre park will include logthemed play structures, an expanded tree canopy, open lawn space, shaded seating, and picnic tables.

At Rengstorff Park, the expansion of park amenities continues with the addition of the new Magical Bridge Playground and Aquatics Center, both of which are under construction and expected to open soon. Follow @MountainViewGov on social media for updates and details on the grand openings.

Meanwhile, we are in the final stages of preparation before construction begins on the Villa-Chiquita Mini Park along Villa Street. This 0.39-acre park will feature play equipment, game tables, native plants, open lawn space, and picnic furnishings.

Lastly, the Community Services Department is excited to move forward with the development of two major plans: the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan and the Biodiversity and Urban Forest Plan. These plans will serve as essential guides for future City programs, facilities, vegetation, habitats, and tree management. For more information and updates, please visit ImagineMVParks.com and BiodiversityMV.com.

HERSHEY FELDER: RACHMANINOFF AND THE TSAR

Presented by TheatreWorks of Silicon Valley

SELECT DATES FRIDAY, JAN. 10 – SUNDAY, FEB. 9

MainStage | Reserved Seating

Sergei Rachmaninoff ’s music is beloved the world over, from his infamous Prelude to the glorious Second Piano Concerto. In his first ever “two-hander,” Hershey Felder brings the composer to life, joined by British-Italian Jonathan Silvestri as Tsar Nicholas II. They weave the haunting story of the Romanoff family, and the maestro’s relationships with them, into a mystical journey reminiscent of Hershey’s celebrations of Irving Berlin, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, George Gershwin, and Debussy.
