Track Star in the Children’s Home

in the Children’s Home

John Spray was a part of the Florida High School Athletic Association 1A Track and Field State Championship Team. He has lived in the Mount Dora Children’s Home since he was five years old. John is a good leader and a natural athlete who is successful at whatever he attempts to do. His coaches can count on him to rally the hearts of his team to accomplish what might look impossible. His ability to step up to the plate and do what is best for the team was evident when he, Joey Cockrell, Robert Hussey, and Blaine Ramsdell formed a 4x400m relay team before the District meet which eventually lead them to the State meet. “John perseveres and pushes himself to go above and beyond what is expected. He played a huge part in our district, regional, and state track titles, including a state medal performance in the 4 x 100m relay, ” said Coach Means, Head MDB Track and Field Coach. Congratulations, John!
