New Kids on Campus

Bri

Bri is 11 years old and in the seventh grade. She came to Christian Home & Bible School last July from the coast. She and her sister Brittany live in Burton Cottage. Bri really likes gymnastics and wants to be a cheerleader. She enjoys talking, sleeping, and playing football. She plans to try out for the volleyball and basketball teams.

Bri lives in Burton cottage with Ricky and Cathy Brown, her houseparents, and seven other girls. She likes the way the other kids in the home act. “They are nice and don’t pick on you, ” she said. “It’s a Christian place. ”

Bri enjoys her CH&BS family. “Mr. Ricky is fun. He likes to play around with us. He has accepted all of us here, ” said Bri. “Mrs. Cathy is really nice and takes good care of us. Anything we need she gets for us. ”

Bri has a good time with her new youth group at church. “The kids in my youth group are very nice, ” she said.

Brittany

Brittany is 13 and in the 7th grade. She came to Christian Home & Bible School during the summer from the coast. Brittany is an active teenager who likes to draw, play basketball and football, and sleep.

Brittany is happy to be living on campus. The mission trip she took during the summer was a great experience for her. “People are really nice here. It is fun having lots of other kids around. It’s really cool most of the time having seven sisters, ” said Brittany. “Miss Johnnie, our Social Worker, is easy to talk to and really nice. ”

Brittany is excited to be going to school on campus because she can sleep later. She is also enjoying her youth group at church directed by Eddie and Annika Stillwell. Brittany said,

“Mrs. Cathy, my house mom, is nice and is always there to help us. I feel like I can talk to her and she really cares. Mr. Ricky, our house dad, is so funny. We laugh a lot. He’s nice and is a good listener. ”

Layla

Layla is sixteen years old and in the 10th grade. She came to CH&BS last March from South Florida. She appreciates all kinds of music, doing her own thing, and working out. “I love living here, ” she said. “I was praying for somewhere I could be happy, a place where I could get a good education and I could be with other Christians. ”

Layla’s transition to Christian Home & Bible School was good. Her favorite subject in school is history. She especially likes her teachers. “The teachers here really care about me. They are helping me get to college, ” she said.
