Dear Mount Pisgah Christian School Family, On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I write to let you know that John Marshall has shared with us his decision to resign as Head of School effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year. John’s letter speaks to this decision. The Board and I are deeply grateful to John for his efforts and faithful service to Mount Pisgah, during a period in which the school has made significant progress. John will continue to lead our great school as interim Head of School in the year ahead, which will be his fifth here at Mount Pisgah, and he has graciously offered to assist the Board in the transition to new leadership. Given our desire to build upon the School’s recent progress and many strengths, the Board recognizes the importance of immediately developing a thoughtful and strategic process to identify a successor. To ensure a seamless transition, the Board is actively engaging several search firms to identify a highly qualified and experienced candidate. Please join the Board in thanking John for his service to our school and in praying for John, Rebecca, Luke, Kate, Will and Matthew during this time of transition. There will be opportunities for the community to honor John’s service in the coming year. We are grateful for the Marshall family and their contributions to Mount Pisgah. The future holds great promise for Mount Pisgah Christian School, as together, we continue to pursue our Godly mission to provide an outstanding college-preparatory education grounded in Christian faith and values. Mount Pisgah Christian School

Dear Doug, I write this letter of resignation with a grateful heart. For the past four years, Mount Pisgah Christian School has been a wonderful home for my children, for my wife, Rebecca, and for me. In April 2012, the Board provided me an opportunity to lead an up-and-coming school with a Godly mission and tremendous potential to impact families. I am grateful for how the Lord has grown our school and expanded our footprint across Atlanta. During the past four years, we have strengthened the faculty and administration, grown K-12 enrollment, enhanced chapel programming and the Bible curriculum, mapped the curriculum and implemented independent school-normed standardized testing and a learning management system, expanded sports offerings and aligned our vision for athletics with the mission, invested in technology, exponentially increased funding for faculty professional development, reduced debt, boosted Annual Fund participation, completed a $20 million campaign, added and enhanced facilities on East Campus and the Patriot Athletic Campus, and earned membership in the country’s premiere Christian school association: the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA). The 2016-17 school year will be the 30th anniversary of Mount Pisgah Christian School. Much is planned and I am eager to shepherd this community throughout this year-long celebration. There is much to be done and I am committed to seeing that it gets done well. At the end of next year – which would be my fifth – I will step down from my position as head. After much discussion with Rebecca over the past several weeks, personal reflection and prayer, I believe July 2017 is the right time to make a change. With the completion this spring of the new strategic plan, Vision 2025, our school is well-positioned to move forward, with renewed clarity and purpose, to fulfill our mission to provide an outstanding college preparatory education grounded in Christian faith and values. We are enjoying momentum as a school and the future holds great promise. I am enthusiastic and eager to assist the Board in preparing a new leader to take MPCS to new heights. Mount Pisgah is a grace-filled, affirming and loving community. My family has felt welcomed and has been blessed to be part of the MPCS Family. Our four children have received an excellent education. I am especially grateful for how our family has grown spiritually from relationships with Mount Pisgah families. Rebecca, Luke, Katherine, Will, Matthew and I look forward to spending the coming year serving and celebrating our School’s 30th anniversary. It will be a watershed year!
