HOW TO MAKE A PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM: A SOLICITOR’S GUIDE FOR THE INJURED What Qualifies as a Personal Injury Claim? A personal injury claim arises when you have been injured in an accident caused by someone else’s negligence, such as:

4. Establishing Liability: We will identify the responsible party and work to prove your case. This often involves communicating with insurers, analysing evidence and consulting with experts to build a strong case.

• Workplace accidents: Employers have a duty to keep you safe in the workplace. If you have been injured at work, you could have a claim. • Slips, Trips, and Falls: If you are hurt due to hazard conditions in a public place, such as a wet floor or uneven pavement, you may be able to seek compensation. • Road Traffic Accidents: Whether you are a driver, passenger, cyclist, or pedestrian, you may be entitled to compensation if injured in a crash that was not your fault. We specialise in serious injury claims - accidents which have resulted in serious or long-lasting injuries and disabilities which can include:- brain/neurological, neck and spinal, amputation, loss of use of a limb, serious burns/scarring, chronic pain and serious psychological injuries.

5. Negotiation and Settlement: In the majority of cases we will seek to negotiate with the Defendant’s representatives to reach a fair settlement that covers losses such as medical expenses and loss of earnings in addition to damages for pain, suffering and loss of amenity. With skilled negotiators on your side you are more likely to secure a full, fair settlement.

Step-by-Step Guide to the Personal Injury Claims Process Our team at Gregory Abrams Davidson Solicitors take the mystery out of making a claim, and this is how it works: 1. Initial Consultation: We start with a free, no-obligation consultation to discuss your case. We will review the details of your accident and explain your options. 2. Fact Finding and Evidence Gathering: Solid evidence strengthens your claim, so we will help you collect it. This may include accident reports, CCTV footage, witness statements and photographs. Getting evidence promptly can make all the difference, so it is essential to act sooner rather than later. 3. Medical Reports: Medical records and expert opinion are vital for substantiating the nature and full extent of your injuries. We will arrange for an independent medical examination to provide an assessment of your injuries and prognosis, which will inform the amount of compensation you are entitled to seek.

The faces of the children last year will live with me forever.” Derry Mathews added “We are really looking forward to December 15th and have had to move into the largest room the Adelphi Hotel has due to the massive demand to attend the event. Emotional Freedom Begins Here..

Mind21 is about personal growth whatever that looks like for you. Whether you’re aware of a mind that never stops; struggling to keep your emotions in check, or just feel stuck in a rut, Mind21 offers a supportive learning pathway. This digital course has 21 modules that take 30 minutes each day. The best way to accomplish shift is to learn through knowledge & experience because experiential knowledge tackles our patterns at a neurological level. That’s why each day has a minimum of 20 minutes mindfulness practice, fully guided so you just trust the process. For many, just learning to take time out is a massive step forward because it encourages them to break the pattern of constant doing & thinking. There’s over 40 years of research scientifically proving the benefits of mindfulness and Mind21 embraces the best of the best. It includes themes and practices from the mindfulness based stress reduction course and the Google leadership course “Search Inside Yourself”. “As a working mum, Mind21 was a great excuse to escape for 1/2 hour to learn about meditation. It turned out to be so much more with some great education particularly around how the brain manages stress. I now recognise the triggers of my stressed mind and know how to manage them. It's opened my eyes to the power of being present and to recognise the effects my mind has over my body. As a self-diagnosed control freak, this course has allowed me to put ME back in control of my reactions.” Helen - busy Mum and Product Lead

I can't thank the creator of Mind21 enough for this empowering course! The course starts with a gentle introduction to practice and you’ll just enjoy taking time out. However this gentle bodyscan is deliberately crafted to help the mind to steady it’s attention and rest. The educational content is weaved throughout the days with short 2 - 10 minute presentations. They explain how stress & emotional turmoil works so you recognise it sooner and feel empowered to take charge. As the training progresses you increase your capacity to notice automatic reactions and to intercept them - a truly powerful skill to acquire.

Benefits of Mind21 Interrupt the cycle of the overworked mind We believe thoughts are solving problems, but they’re often stuck in a worry loop stopping us from switching off. They stoke up our nervous system. The first week begins training the mind to settle & focus, breaking the pattern of continuous thinking. Emotions on high alert leave us angry or tearful This can be a sign that the stress hormones are not subsiding and we can begin to worry about holding everything together. Left unchecked the mind detects this state and goes into defense, ramping everything up. Mind21 provides simple techniques to bring early awareness to this process and to reset the nervous system. There’s also a 3 minute reset tool, easily accessible when things start to get tough. Noticing our true state Mind21 techniques train us to become more familiar with rising sensations in the body because the body provides true feedback on how we are experiencing a situation, even if it’s not rational. The mind often tells us how we SHOULD be experiencing a situation. Attachment to thoughts & emotions Thoughts are part of who we are, but do not define us. We think they provide the ultimate truth but WE ARE MORE THAN OUR THOUGHTS. Mind21 challenges unhelpful beliefs that keep us trapped in destructive patterns. Ready to find out more? Trusting the process...

I’ve always found it difficult to trust, or maybe the correct term is let go. Planning and controlling every detail gives me a sense of security or a belief that because I’m in control, everything will work out as expected. Luckily, through my mindfulness practice, I’m getting better at loosening that grip. Having rigid expectations can leave us attached to outcomes, many of which are beyond our control. Recognising that we can’t influence everything can be uncomfortable because human beings do not deal well with uncertainty. However, letting go and trusting in the process can deliver surprising results as I found out recently. Having planned a number of events next year, I tried not to panic when there was a problem with the venue. Even though it goes against a lifetime of programming, I tried to tune into that higher wisdom and to trust in the process. Then something wonderful happened. To understand what raised my sloth like pulse a little, we have to go back to the 1920's when my great grandparents arrived on the Wirral after their travels all the way across Ireland from Achill Ireland. They first appear on the 1939 census. It's a long journey by boat and car today, so I can only imagine how long it took them. Julie Perrigo is the founder of Just Breathe Solutions, The Emotional Hustle and Wirral Mindfulness. @theemotionalhustle www.justbreathesolutions.co.uk

They looked after their family by working the land and settled on a farm in Meols called Holmfield. When my gran passed away in the early 1970s the land was passed on to the Hughes family. Roll forward 10 years and my Mum worked on the same land which the Hughes family turned into flower gardens. During the summer holidays my brothers and I would pick berries for Mrs Hughes but sadly never got a slice of those blackberry pies. My Mum picked flowers and stored them in buckets of dye overnight. The buckets were kept in a giant shed and in the corner was an old cast iron bath where they washed their hands in freezing cold water. Just the other day I got to see that very same bath in absolutely pristine condition, fully restored in a thatched cottage just up the lane from Holmfield. The thatched cottage is not original, I phoned my Dad who gave me the backstory. However it is absolutely beautiful and perfectly rustic sitting on the side of a 1.5 acre lake. The cottage is accessed via a railway crossing named "Tolan's Upside" - named after my great grandfather, Patrick Tolan. It was so moving looking around the cottage and hearing about it's history. As soon as I drove down that wooded lane and saw the lake, I knew it would be absolutely perfect for the retreats and of course, I’ll have to stay over this Christmas to test everything first. The more I step back from that habit of wanting to control, the more I find these beautiful moments of serendipity arising. The process of learning to trust feels unnerving at times but can also be freeing. It’s reassuring to believe that perhaps not everything is down to us and comforting to lean into a sense of unconditional support. Things still go wrong, but when things get tough, it’s about understanding what we can and can’t take responsibility for. Happy Christmas x Julie x WIRRAL WELL

CUT COSTS THIS CHRISTMAS While some of us are planning a return to the indulgence of Christmases past, others will be working hard to celebrate despite an ever-present squeezed budget, but the majority of us will fall somewhere in the middle – just about managing to stay afloat financially. Whatever your Christmas is looking like, you'll find plenty of money saving shopping tactics to help your budget stretch further, from tips and schemes to apps and old-fashioned consumer knowhow! Plan your spend Start by making a budget. We spend around 30% more in December than other months. Check your bank statements for last December to see how much you spent last year. Pretty much everything costs a bit more this year. Break down your plan: how much will go towards gifts, food, drink, leisure and entertainment, in addition to the usual monthly household costs. Don't be afraid to 'cut your cloth' to the size of your budget. Far better to do this than wake up in the new year with a financial hangover. Start early. Keep track of Spending Once you've set a budget, keeping track of your spending means you're less likely to overspend. Whether it’s by using a notebook, an app on your phone or an excel spreadsheet on your laptop, choose a system that works for you. If your bank offers you alerts for when your current account dips below a set amount, opt in. Family gifts or secret Santa If you've got a lot of people to buy for, such as extended family and friend groups, suggesting a Secret Santa (use an app such as elfster to organise) is a great way to keep costs down. Similarly, buying a 'family gift', such as a large box of chocs, a hamper or a board game, can be a great way to gift to a group rather than buying individual presents. These are always on offer in the run up to Christmas, so use google shopping to find the cheapest source and stock up! Plan meals Check in early to find out what your guests really love to eat– and remember to take note of any food intolerances, too. To help you calculate the right quantities for the numbers you’re feeding. Be smart about delivery Book your slot. If you’re planning a

20

WIRRAL WELL

BEING

supermarket delivery close to Christmas, bag a cheaper time slot by placing just a few items in your virtual trolley well ahead of time. As the big day approaches, the cheap slots vanish, and you end up having to throw money at the problem later on. When Christmas gets closer, add special offers and your usual goodies to the list. Stock up early Avoid the pre-Christmas crush and spread the cost by making the most of your freezer. Most of the Christmas meal can be frozen, including the pigs in blankets, stuffing and even the gravy. If you spot a bargain, especially on joints of meat or the turkey, buy it now and freeze it. Add discounts automatically Use the browser extensions to keep a constant eye out for the cheapest prices for you. There are plenty of options and you can download and install more than one. So check out voucher codes, deal finder etc.. Be post savvy Be sure to make a note of 18 December – the last date for sending Christmas cards by second-class post – you could save as much as £10 by posting early rather than using first-class. Get free delivery Why pay for store deliveries when you don’t have to? Some last order dates for free delivery are as early as 16 December, so it pays not to leave it too late to order online. Find the cheapest way to send a parcel If you're posting presents this year, do your research to find the most costeffective option. Sending a medium parcel (2kg) to a UK address costs £5.89 second-class with Royal Mail via your local post office. However, if you sent it by courier with Evri, it would only be £4.37 for the same parcel. It's also worth checking different delivery and courier firms at comparison site. Save with own brands It’s an industry secret that own-brand products can come from the same manufacturers as the big brands but are simply packaged differently. You could save as much as 60% compared with big brands. Don’t blow budget on streaming Whether it's Home Alone or Love Actually, we all have our favourite

Christmas movies. There are plenty of free streaming services on mainstream broadcaster platforms and other streaming services. So check out what's on before splashing out on paid for streaming. Check out BBC's. Amazon has a free service called freevee. Recycling or regifting Around £42m worth of unwanted Christmas presents are sent to UK landfill each year, so what’s more green than recycling them. Recycling is to be applauded and it’s certainly gratifying if an unwanted gift finds its way into appreciative hands and doesn’t go to waste. Second-hand You can buy pre loved quality gifs online or from Charity shops keeping cost low which also helps the environment. Homemade. Make your own gifts, personal, memorable ,gift baskets, baked goods, knitted, woven or sugar treats. Tree to last More than 5m real trees were sold in the UK in 2024, says the British Christmas Tree Growers Association (BCTA) – and many were pre-cut firs that ended up as compost or in landfill come January. This year, why not invest in a real tree with roots that you can keep outside for the 11 months it’s not needed, then bring it inside for its Christmas performance? You’ll save money and your tree will stay green right through to Twelfth Night. Avoid buy now pay later Tempting as these schemes are in the heat of the moment, try to avoid them unless you have a plan in place for repaying the loan within the interest-free period. Otherwise, after the 0% phase ends, you’ll be charged an aggressive interest rate and that new sofa, outfit or TV could end up costing you far more. Not only will it end up costing you more in the long run but it could have a negative impact on your credit score if you default on payments. If you really need to borrow, check out cheaper options, such as 0% credit cards or 0% overdrafts. But do remember that one of the greatest gifts you can give anyone is your time by volunteering or simply spending time with the ones you love.

Hair today, gone tomorrow! This can be a reality “Unwanted facial hair is just that, so don’t live with it!” Contact Serenity Clinic today on 625 6256 The most common places that facial hair appears are to either side of the mid-chin or around the outer edges of the lip. Hair growth in these areas is typically hormonally stimulated consisting of – in most cases – thick hairs called ‘terminal’ hairs. This type of hair is deeply rooted, with a rapid regrowth. Unfortunately, most start to pluck these hairs when they first appear. Don’t! This just encourages blood supply, in essence ‘feeding’ them and enabling hair to grow stronger. Fortunately for us ladies, facial hair doesn’t just appear all at once. It tends to start with the odd one and increases over a long period of time. Most people will start by plucking ‘rogue’ hairs every week or so, but then ‘hey presto’ – before you know it, you’re plucking every day.

Ultrasound: Developed in 1996, it uses sound waves and static energy to damage/destroy the hair at its root. Good for downy or fine hairs.

Just a short 10-minute electrolysis appointment with a registered and licensed electrologist such as SERENITY CLINIC could stop this from happening.

Threading: Using a knot in cotton same results as above

Most of us lead busy lives, so we often put off doing things for ourselves, such as tackling those unwanted hairs. So, if you’re plucking or shaving, contact us today for professional advice and a lasting solution. While electrolysis is still the only procedure that can state the word ‘permanent’, there are other hair reduction and removal techniques available, Just remember a patch test and consultation are required for some treatments. IPL: Intense Pulse Light is a quick solution to treat unwanted facial hair. This treatment is very targeted and, therefore, ideal for permanently reducing coarse terminal hairs.

Alkaline wash: Ideal for ‘vellus’ (fine downy or peach fuss ) hair that tends to grow over larger areas of the face. Dermaplaning: designed for deeper skin exfoliation but has the same hair removal results as alkaline was just not as deep. Waxing: Typically using a blend of beeswax and resins to produce a slightly viscose liquid, hot wax can be used on the face we use Lycon wax a superior wax for delicate areas. Hollywood & Brazilian, warm wax is traditionally used on legs and larger areas where hair removal is required.

Our highly experienced team will advice on the best removal methods for individuals permanent removal or hair management treatment plans.

Laser: This burst onto the scene in the 1990s and there are now many different versions on the market (some more effective than others). It can produce good results, but there is some controversy over whether it actually stimulates growth in certain individuals. Electrolysis/Diathermy: Using short-wave diathermy this is the most widely used method, providing excellent results quickly. It takes an average 12 sessions to regulate growth. it is still the only method of hair removal that can state the word ‘permanent’. Blend Diathermy (electrolysis) using galvanic current to produce a chemical reaction in the skin: we offer both diathermy and blend we will recommend the best suited removal for individuals.

FINANCIAL WELLBEING ADVERTISING FEATURE

Are your financial affairs in order – for yourself, your business and your employees? Financial wellbeing is that feeling of being secure and in control of your finances, both now and in the future. It’s the peace of mind that you have funds for everyday expenses, can deal with the unexpected, and are on track for a healthy financial future. Have you taken time to check in with your financial wellbeing? Were you aware that many businesses would cease trading in under a year if a key person died or became critically ill? Loss of profit or sales, the cost of finding and training a replacement and the potential loss of customers and suppliers are just some of this issues you could face if a key member of staff was your main contact. Key Person Protection can help to provide financial stability in the event of a key member of staff being critically ill or dying. Are you an SME that feels that you don’t have the time or money for wellbeing initiatives? Increased investment in employee wellbeing has been linked to greater productivity and staff retention. It goes hand-in-hand with financial and commercial success. Employee wellbeing can be approached in different ways, depending on your organisation’s budget and set up.

With the announcement of an increase to National Insurance contributions for employers with effect from 6th April 2025, there may be ways which could help your business reduce the impact of this. Salary Sacrifice for pensions are simply an arrangement between you and your employee, where your employee agrees to a reduction in their cash remuneration (salary) in lieu of an employer pension contribution being made to their pension scheme. Company profit extraction for business owners – Make use of annual tax-efficient allowances for pensions and ISAs, maximising these before Corporation Tax assessment. I’m Remco, an advising Partner at Ricketts Financial Planning and I specialise in talking to businesses of all sizes, guiding you through current financial needs and longer-term objectives with holistic, ongoing support for you, your business and your employee’s financial wellbeing.

Employee Benefits packages have the advantage of increasing the appeal of your business when recruiting, help you to retain talent within your business and can provide savings to both you as an employer and your employees. Financial Benefits include Private Medical Insurance, Life Insurance, Critical Illness Cover and Sickness Cover, all of which support the financial wellbeing of both you and your employees. A Relevant Life Plan is a life assurance plan which can include significant illness cover, that provides benefits for employees, including the directors of a business. While the contributions will be paid for by the company, they will not be treated as a benefit in kind so will not be taxable on the life assured for whom the plan has been established. This can provide a significant tax saving, particularly for higher and additional rate taxpayers. The contributions paid to fund the plan should be treated as an allowable business expense for the company too. How will the rise in Employers National Insurance from 6th April 2025 impact your business?

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds selected and may fall as well as rise. You may get back less than the amount invested. The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.

How You Can Help: We're currently seeking, New toy donations for the children at Alder Hey. Your support would make a meaningful difference to the children who have to spend Christmas in hospital.

Last Year's Impact in Jodie’s words:

“Last year we filled 3 cages of toys for the children that were spending the Christmas period in Alderhey Children’s Hospital. This hospital is an amazing place, my daughter spent 2 weeks in intensive care when she was 4 years old and wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the care of the fantastic staff any toys left over are used throughout the year to keep the children entertained. Mia, my daughter came home from hospital with lots of things she had made using the crafts they have there, a porcelain money box she painted was her favourite. They have also treated my niece and nephew for life threatening injuries, so Alderhey holds a special place in my heart.”

10 Tips to maintain your mental health & wellbeing this festive period. The holiday season can be emotionally challenging for many people, for many different reasons, here are some strategies to help maintain mental health during Christmas: 1. Set Realistic Expectations Let go of the pressure to create a “perfect” holiday, embrace imperfections and focus on meaningful moments, communicate with family and friends about what you can realistically commit to, we cannot pour from an empty cup, so protect your own energy levels.

6. Combat Loneliness Reach out to friends, neighbours, or community groups, volunteering can provide connection and purpose, consider alternative celebrations, like virtual meetups or joining local holiday events. 7. Take Breaks Step away from overwhelming environments, a quiet walk or a moment alone can be refreshing & schedule downtime to recharge, especially if you’re an introvert. 8. Focus on Gratitude and Joy Reflect on what you’re thankful for, even if it’s small. Practicing gratitude can shift your perspective, engage in activities you genuinely enjoy, like listening to music, crafting, or watching your favourite movies.

2. Plan Ahead

9. Seek Professional Support

Create a schedule for shopping, cooking, and socializing to avoid last-minute stress, budget carefully to avoid financial strain, focus on thoughtful, not expensive, gifts, top tip buy everyone a lottery ticket, it could be the best present you ever give.

If feelings of stress, anxiety, or depression become overwhelming, consider reaching out to a therapist or counsellor, many support lines and organizations like the Samaritans offer help during the holiday season, call 116 123.

3. Prioritize Self-Care

Reduce exposure to stressful triggers like excessive social media scrolling, excessive alcohol consumption or generally excessive anything! Stick to a routine that includes time for rest and relaxation.

Self-care isn’t selfish, take time to rest, and continue to follow the routes to wellness, like exercise, nutrition, mindfulness and sleep! Overindulgence can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion. 4. Manage Social Interactions Spend time with supportive and uplifting people. Politely decline invitations that feel overwhelming, set boundaries with family or friends if past interactions have been stressful.

10. Limit Overstimulation

The key is to prioritize your well-being and create a holiday experience that feels good to you, rather than conforming to societal expectations, so from everyone at Kaizen Wirral Mindset CiC We wish you a merry Xmas, and a happy new year.

5. Acknowledge Your Feelings It’s okay to feel sad, anxious, or lonely and we must allow ourselves to grieve if you’ve experienced a recent loss or change of family circumstances, journaling or talking to a trusted friend or therapist can help process emotions.
