Homeowners will do all they can to present the perfect property for sale but are such efforts worth the time and money? Could attempts to increase value actually be having the opposite effect? North West arm of nationwide property agents launch new website  The North West office of Rendall & Rittner has launched a new dedicated website as part of its rebranding this year. Rendall & Rittner the agent’s parent company has a head office based in London and 23 years of experience in the industry. Rendall & Rittner North West launched in 2008 and now has five staff. City agent launches landlord portals  Estate agent Andrew Louis is set to revolutionise the way its landlords manage their properties with the launch of its landlord portals.

The online portals will give landlords the ability to keep track of their properties, access important safety certificates and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and view rental statements. The service works in a similar way to Internet banking and will mean landlords can access key information at any time day or night. Louis Anastasiou, managing director of Andrew Louis, says the launch represents an important step forward for the industry in terms of technological advancements. demonstrate what can happen if businesses don’t move with the times. Our industry is no different. We’re the first agent in the city to offer this service and we’ve worked with a software company to develop the pioneering software required for the portals. “The next step will be to launch these portals for tenants. Anybody renting a property will be able to keep track of their rental payments, download safety certificates and find out where their deposit is being held, at the click of a mouse.”

The launch comes at the same time as the agent’s new Management Plus service, which will see landlords receive a rental guarantee, ensuring the rent is paid should a tenant default.

LEGAL AID SHAKE UP  A local solicitors has introduced fixed fees in an attempt to help those who will miss out on legal aid as changes to the system come into effect. Canter Levin & Berg solicitors in Liverpool is introducing the fixed fee system to help combat those who fall in between the cracks following the latest shake up. 44 Your Move

From April of this year the Ministry of Justice will put in place reforms to save £350m in civil legal aid. Funding will soon disappear for most cases involving divorce, child custody, clinical negligence, employment, immigration, housing, debt, benefits and education. Rebecca Finnegan, associate solicitor at Canter Levin & Berg Solicitors, says: “Changes to legal aid mean massive cuts in

funding. Legal aid will still be available for children being taken into care or domestic violence cases but a lot of people will find that they no longer qualify for legal aid. So we are introducing a fixed fee system to help.” Rebecca was also recently appointed to the Law Society Advanced Panel for family law late last year. New concept agent launches  A new Liverpool agent is aiming to change the way estate agents do business with a holistic approach that puts customer satisfaction at the top of the priority list. completed afterwards. The opening lot of the day was Media House on Claughton Road in Birkenhead which was offered on behalf of Wirral Council. Guided at £90,000 this lot attracted a huge amount of interest in the room and eventually sold for £190,000. Indie three-piece The Enemy’s latest tour rolls into Liverpool’s O2 Academy early this month. Your Move caught up with drummer Liam Watts to find out about the band’s third studio album and what the future holds for this talented trio.

Interview with Liam Watts, Drummer of The Enemy

INTERVIEW BY EMMA GRIFFITHS We’ve read that you originally formed The Enemy back in 2006 because you were bored. Where did your inspiration to get together come from? I think we were at that age where you have to start making real decisions, you start getting responsibilities and you start feeling the pressure a bit. At the time we all had jobs, but were finding ourselves increasingly bored and frustrated. We'd all played a bit before, were good mates and music was a big part of all our lives. We basically had a chat about how we wanted to give a band a proper go. We genuinely had the belief that we could make something of it and we haven't looked back. It wasn’t long after the band formed that your first album, ‘We Will Live and Die in These Towns’, went to number one in the UK. It must have been exciting to suddenly hear your music all over the radio? Looking back it did all happen so quickly, but we didn't know any different and were so up for it. I don't think there was any stopping us. I first heard us on the radio on Zane Lowe’s Fresh Meat. He plays three bands and his listeners choose a winner. I didn't know we were on it but he had played two bands and I thought, “we're better than them!" Before I knew it he was playing our first ever demo. Me and my mate looked at each other and he nearly crashed the car.

He pulled over and we were absolutely buzzing! We won and it’s one of my favourite memories! What was it like being propelled into the music industry and seeing such a fantastic response as a young band? The first time round it was all new to us, but having good people around us made it easy for us to focus on the things that mattered. We were writing songs about our lives and from observing what was going on around us in Coventry. When we started playing up and down the country we realised it wasn't unique to Coventry, people from all over could completely relate to us and that connection with our fans is one of the most important things to us. I don't really like using the word 'fans', its a bit impersonal. But you know what I meanreal people with hearts and minds who a lot of people in music take for granted. Your latest album ‘Streets in the Sky’ has been described as a mature nod to your first album, how do you think that the band has evolved since your first sessions in the studio. Sometimes I think we have completely evolved and other times it feels like the very first time all over again, and that’s a great thing. Three albums in we have experienced a lot. We can take all that experience and couple it with the fact we haven't changed as people and everything that makes 'The Enemy' just happened. With Streets in the Sky we realised that and everything clicked into place. What do you make of new bands today? Is there anyone out there who inspires or excites you? Not that many new bands have made it big over the last couple years, but its great seeing people like

New bands forming and writing their first songs inspires us There are so many bands under the radar that are knocking at the door and will break through soon and this really excites us. Do you feel any responsibility to up and coming bands now that you’re in a position to give them some exposure? Yeah, I think it’s important that bands look after each other. We were given great opportunities by established bands when we were starting out that really made a difference to us. We always try and do the right thing, from giving a band words of encouragement on twitter, to giving people a support slot- a little can go a long way. Drummer Tom has his ‘NEXTBiGTHING’ project going where he's really putting a lot into unsigned bands. Check it out! Do you enjoy a Liverpool audience? What can fans expect to see at your upcoming Liverpool gig? We've not played Liverpool that many times, I don’t know why but that’s why we are looking forward to the gig so much. The crowd can expect 100% as always, we have massive respect for the people who come to our gigs and support us in all the ways they do. We have three albums under our belts so we will be playing a packed set. Expect the usual carnage of an Enemy gig. What’s next for The Enemy? At the minute, we're focused on this run of gigs then we have a little bit over in America and then we'll be looking at festivals. Mathew Street Festival axed The popular Mathew Street Festival has been axed by Liverpool City Council in favour of a new event to save money in the wake of massive budget cuts.

THE SATURDAYS OPEN GRAND NATIONAL 2013

Popular girl group The Saturdays will open the Grand National Festival 2013 with a performance at Aintree Racecourse. The girls will be one of the big attractions of the racing world’s biggest show at the Grand Opening on Thursday April 4. John Baker, North West regional director for Jockey Club Racecourses, says: “Having The Saturdays here at Aintree is a real coup for us and will make the Grand Opening extra special.” The band will top the entertainment bill for what promises to be an exciting start

to the Grand National Festival with a host of other special surprises yet to be announced. “The Grand National Festival is a huge international event, and we expect the opening day crowds to flock to see true international stars,” adds John. The 2012 event saw record ticket sales with the Grand National sold out weeks before the big race. More than 150,000 spectators are expected through the gates over the three days and a global TV audience of 600 million is likely for the Grand National itself.

The National Gay Wedding Show is a celebration of marriage for all couples regardless of their sexuality. The show is for anyone getting hitched whether gay, lesbian or straight. The housing developer currently has two sites in Liverpool, at Cressington Heath in Garston and Summerfield Park in Broadgreen and is set to open a third with King David’s Park in L15 Liverpool. And the developer is launching a new online service called ‘My Redrow’ this Easter bank holiday weekend. “This new service will allow prospective Redrow homeowners to design their new Redrow homes online from the comfort of their own couch, whenever they want and save design preferences to their account to come back to later, instead of having to decide in our office. This is something that we think our customers will really love,” says Claire. LIVERPOOL ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL FUN

HALF-TERM KIDS GET CRAFTY AT THE CATHEDRAL amilies and children descended upon the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral for some well deserved half-term animal craft fun. Children busied themselves colouring in and constructing animal head-dresses, masks and snake mobiles. Representatives from Victoria Gallery were also on hand to show attendees various taxidermy animals from the gallery and the museum’s collection. This event was the last in a series of events aimed at keeping children occupied during the half term holidays. Previous days at the Cathedral had seen children creating owl necklaces, magnets and tile decorating There was also the opportunity to follow a speciallydesigned animal trail around the Cathedral before the day was out.
