Cortofilia

La ‘cortofilia’ es nuestra palabra para denominar un extremo amor al cortometraje. Y aunque ése es uno de los principios que mueve todo lo que hace BOGOSHORTS, en esta sección nos permitimos explorar este amor a partir de acercamientos muy particulares, casi como filias, hacia el formato corto.

En También los enanos empezaron pequeños, desde 2012 manifestamos el orgullo que nos da encontrar que aquellos realizadores que estrenaron en salas de cine durante el año un largometraje de producción colombiana, también han trabajado el formato del cortometraje a lo largo de su carrera. Tras dos años en los que la industria del cine enfrentó retos incluso mayores para estrenar películas en Colombia y el mundo, nos parece todavía más importante reconocer los esfuerzos que hicieron esos realizadores y sus equipos, para culminar sus procesos creativos entregando sus producciones al público, y continuar enriqueciendo el panorama del cine en el país. Esta muestra de cortometrajes es una oportunidad para descubrir el camino evolutivo que vivieron sus directores para llegar a sus películas de largo formato. El segundo componente tradicional de esta sección es una selección de ‘largos de cortos’, películas antológicas u ómnibus; una expresión del poder de las historias cortas, los retos que significa hacerlas y lo irresistible que resulta no hacer o disfrutar más de una. Este año volvemos al Teatro al aire libre La Media Torta para la quinta edición de nuestra Noche Frankenstein, una celebración del cine de género y la música más extrema. Presentaremos un épico largo de cortos animados japonés con samuráis, robots, monstruos y mucho fuego (¿qué buena combinación, no?), seguido de un emocionante concierto de la banda bogotana de punk Chite!, en una noche en la que también se revelará la clave de IMAGINATÓN - Maratón Nacional de Realización Audiovisual.

Cortofilia’ is our word to define an extreme love of short films. And although that is one of the principles that moves everything BOGOSHORTS does, in this section we allow ourselves to explore this love from very particular approaches, almost like philias, towards the short format. In Even dwarfs started small, since 2012 we have expressed the pride we feel when finding that those filmmakers who premiered a Colombian-produced feature film in theaters during the year have also worked on the short film format throughout their careers. After two years in which the film industry faced even greater challenges to release films in Colombia and the world, it seems even more important to us to recognize the efforts made by those filmmakers and their teams to complete their creative processes by delivering their productions to the public, and continue to enrich the panorama of cinema in the country. This showcase of short films is an opportunity to discover the evolutionary path that their directors went through to reach their long-format films. The second traditional component of this section is a selection of ‘features made of shorts’, anthology or omnibus films; an expression of the power of short stories, the challenges of making them and how irresistible it is not to make or enjoy more than one. This year we return to La Media Torta outdoor theater for the fifth edition of our Frankenstein Night, a celebration of genre cinema and extreme music. We will present an epic feature-length Japanese animated omnibus with samurai, robots, monsters and lots of fire (what a great combination, right?), followed by an exciting concert by the Bogotá punk band Chite! on a night when we will also reveal the key to make the one-minute-films for IMAGINATÓN - National Audiovisual Production Marathon.
