Position Highlights
This position is responsible for coordinating all economic development functions for the City of Wentzville. Reporting to the Assistant City Administrator, the primary emphasis of this position is to enhance the economic vitality of the City through the implementation and administration of programs, initiatives and economic incentives to attract new businesses and encourage expansion and retention of existing businesses. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within the Administration Department, alongside the Communications Manager. They will also coordinate with the City's Community Development and Public Works departments, the St. Charles County Department of Workforce & Business Development, and the EDC to provide on-going support for Wentzville's business community.
POSITION PROFILE OVERVIEW
The City of Wentzville is seeking an energetic, motivated candidate to join its team as an Economic Development Coordinator. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer-service skills, a high level of organization, proactive communication and detailorientation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and will take initiative to proactively accomplish goals set by the City, including supporting business attraction/retention and implementing objectives as part of the Economic Development Strategic Plan.
EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Economic Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Urban Planning or a closely related field is required. Master's degree preferred. A minimum of three years of relevant economic development experience, preferably at a municipality or similar organization. Certification with the International Economic Development Council (CEcD) or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is desired, as well as experience with ESRI GIS software.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
