PUBLICWORKSFACILITYOPENS

Earlierthisfall,theCityopeneditsnewPublicWorksFacilitynearthesoutheast cornerofInterstateDriveandWilmerRoad.Thisstate-of-the-art48,000-square-foot buildingisdesignedtoenhanceservicedeliveryandmeetthegrowingneedsofthe community.Thefacility,whichbrokegroundonMay24,2023,wascompleted aheadofscheduleandsignificantlyunderbudget,reflectingtheCity’scommitment toefficiencyandfiscalresponsibility.Thefacilityaddressesthelong-standingneed foramoreexpansivespacetoaccommodatetheincreasingdemandsforequipment andmaterialstorage.Additionally,themovefromthepreviouslocationinHistoric DowntownWentzvilleallowsforgreatercapacityandimprovedfunctionality.To learnmoreabouttheproject,pleasevisitwww.wentzvillemo.gov/PWFacility.

ElectronicsRecycling+Shredding

TheCityofWentzvillecontinuestoleadthewayinsustainabilityefforts,hostingitsseventhannual ElectronicsRecycling+ShreddingeventonOct.5atNorthPointMiddleSchool.Thisyear,over450 vehiclesparticipatedinthisdrive-throughanddrop-offevent,whichcollected12,552poundsof electronicwaste(eWaste)and10,500poundsofpaper.

Sinceitslaunchin2018,theprogramhashelpeddivertalmost200,000poundsofeWaste,and morethan65,000poundsofpaperfromlocallandfills.Recyclingelectronicsreducestheneedfor rawmaterialsandhelpspreventhazardoussubstances,suchasleadandmercury,from contaminatingthesoilandwater.Shreddingandrecyclingpapersavestreesandreducesthe energyandwaterrequiredtoproducenewpaper Theeventisalsodesignedtopreventidentity theftthroughsecuredocumentshreddingwhileprovidingasafeandenvironmentallyfriendlyway forresidentstorecycleelectronicssuchascomputers,laptops,monitorsandprinters Theseitems, whenimproperlydiscarded,posesignificantriskstotheenvironment,fromhazardousmaterialsto excessivelandfillwaste
