EAGLE SCOUT & GOLD AWARD PROJECT PARTNERSHIPS

Wentzville Parks and Recreation wants to support our local Boy Scout and Girl Scout leaders by partnering with them to complete their Eagle Scout and Gold Award Projects. Participating Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts can work alongside the Wentzville Parks and Recreation Department to complete a project that makes a unique, positive impact on our community. To start a partnership, please email Amy.Hays@wentzvillemo.gov with a detailed project proposal or call (636) 639-2087. If you do not have a project in mind, we can offer several suggestions. Based upon the details of your project, we will put you in contact with an individual who can support you and your project the most. COUNSELOR IN TRAINING Progress Park Recreation Center Ages: 13-15

As a Counselor in Training (CIT), you'll learn the ins and outs of camp programs and develop skills to be a future camp counselor. First-year CITs should complete Level 1, a prerequisite for Level 2. Bring your lunch, swimsuit and a water bottle each day. The CIT program runs from 9A to 4P. If extended care is needed, CITs may register for Camp Wentzville’s Sunrise and Sunset Camp. (Min 1/Max 15) Level 1 Level 1 CITs will spend the first half of the day developing a variety of skills such as leadership development, designing activities and games, communication skills, safety, financial responsibility, engaging with campers and much more. After lunch, CITs will work alongside camp counselors to implement their skills and learn from the counselors. Each week will have a new topic focus so that CITs can register for multiple weeks and continue learning new things. Level 2 Before registering for Level 2, CITs should complete the prerequisite Level 1 (a minimum of four weeks of Level 1 are required). Level 2 CITs will transition to working alongside camp managers and learn more about what it takes to run a day camp program. Managers will mentor CITs in activity preparation, behavior management, parent communication and much more. Level 2 CITs will be trusted with some independent tasks such as material preparation, form review and additional minor tasks.
