Redefining Community with Art and Culture Merging Interactive Ideas with Stories & Experiences Fort Lee Art Group - FLAG
Fort Lee Art Group - FLAG
is a brand new organization for art and culture in Fort Lee, NJ. The primary goal of the group is to organize pop-up exhibitions in order to promote the works of emerging as well as established artists, in addition to featuring them in an online gallery and other media on the web. With the words “Art For Everyone” as its slogan, the FLAG’s mission is to support local artists of all kinds and connect them to their community, fostering collaboration between different kinds of creative people and bridging the gap between art and business. FLAG’s first event is already on the horizon - our premiere show is the All Media Exhibition, an open call for submissions from both visual and musical artists that seeks to showcase the wide variety of talent in the densely populated area around Fort Lee. The Opening Reception of this exhibition is on Friday, November 8th from 7-11pm in downtown Fort Lee, and FLAG expects to have many more events in the future - including traveling shows and exclusive exhibitions for special groups and organizations.

ENTERPRISING ARTISTS We think that all good artists are innovators, and we want to be innovators too. That’s why FLAG is different from traditional art galleries. We aren’t tied to one physical space: we operate out of a wide variety of venues, maximizing our exposure while minimizing our costs. We also promote our artists through web-based services and other new media like video interviews, audio podcasts, and interactive online profiles, enabling us to share the stories of our artists to wide audience. With modern technology at our disposal, we give artists an elevated platform and grant them access to opportunities like never before.
USING CAPITAL FOR CREATIVITY Local businesses + community + creativity = success! FLAG is a whole team of creative people from multiple disciplines who are capitalizing upon their contacts with other entrepreneurial thinkers in their respective industries. By bringing in enterprising personalities who want to invest in unique and exciting ideas, we are forming new connections between artists and businesses and fostering produc-tive partnerships that benefit both parties. Drawing upon artists’ creative sensibilities to help businesses work on projects like branding identities, marketing strategies, and advertising campaigns are just a few ways that these two different entities can succeed together. We call that “using capital for creativity.”
COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY
Because FLAG can do anything anywhere, it chooses to collaborate with other organi-zations instead of competing with them. We partner with all sorts of businesses for lots of different enterprises - like linking up our artists with other companies for the sake of creative projects such as branding, marketing and advertising campaigns. Artists need support, and businesses need innovative new ideas so bridging the two leads to success for everyone. FLAG wants to help boost a community that is already a burgeoning hotspot for the arts.
THE SIXTH BOROUGH
Sometimes called the Sixth Borough of New York City, Fort Lee sits directly across from Manhattan on the opposite side of the Hudson River. With easy access to the Big Apple via the George Washington Bridge, Fort Lee reaps the benefits of its proximity to the metropolis while maintaining its own sense of cosmopolitan identity.
THE FIRST HOLLYWOOD
Fort Lee has a rich history of art and culture already: before Hollywood, America’s first movie capital was Fort Lee. Now, nearly a hundred years after the movie business moved west, Fort Lee is reconnecting to its roots with the construction of a brand new facility for film: the Barrymore Film Center. The building is sure to attract film fans from all over, turning Fort Lee into a hotspot for entertainment.
RIDING ON THE WAVES OF AN ECONOMIC BOOM!
This area is also great for industry. Bordering Fort Lee in Englewood Cliffs lies the new American headquarters of LG Electronics, the global technology manufacturer founded in South Korea. Sitting on cliffs once owned by the Rockefeller’s and overlooking the scenic Hudson River from its Palisades perch, the gigantic building is set to house over 1,000 employees and is already enhancing the occupational appeal of the area
