As IB learners we strive to be: We nurture our curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. We know how to learn independently and with others. We learn with enthusiasm and sustain our love of learning throughout life.

We critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.

We develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. We engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.

We show empathy, compassion and respect. We have a commitment to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around us.

We use critical and creative thinking skills to analyse and take responsible action on complex problems. We exercise initiative in making reasoned, ethical decisions.

We approach uncertainty with forethought and determination; we work independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas and innovative strategies. We are resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change.

We express ourselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in many ways. We collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.

We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve well-being for ourselves and others. We recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live.

We act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere. We take responsibility for our actions and their consequences.

We thoughtfully consider the world and our own ideas and experience. We work to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to support our learning and personal development.

The IB learner profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. We believe these attributes, and others like them, can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities.

Message From Principal Dear Students and Families, Welcome to the RKIMS Yearbook – truly a year to remember! Our world got turned upside down. As we faced COVID-19 and online learning, we are proud to share that we rose to the challenge and got better together with resilience! Our greatest resource is each other. We strengthened our relationships, discovered communication tools, and faced the challenges together. Through these experiences, we forged strong ways to educate and to connect. I’m proud of our students, teachers, and staff! Enjoy the great images of students receiving awards, honors, and taking part in many exciting learning experiences. Thank you to Ms. Patricia Kline for her perseverance and tireless work capturing beautiful photos of our students and staff this year. Despite the pandemic, our students still accomplished a great deal! It is important during this time to continue to pursue knowledge and to grow our talents, skills, and abilities. By building on our experiences and participating in activities wherever possible, we must strive to always do your best. We are forever learning! As our school year comes to an end, I wish the best for each of you. Know that each of you has tremendous power to lead and influence those around you. Know that I believe in each you – I’m your #1 fan! In the words of the Kobe Bryant, “The most important thing i s to try and inspire people s o that they can be great i n whatever they want to do.” Go forth, young Generals. Shape, define, and create a community we are all proud to live in! Thank you for an amazing year,

Tamera L. Ellis, Principal

Rufus King Dream Chris Crane, Composer We gotta be strong enough to move on, we’ve got to make this world a better place, even when our hope is gone. For the safety of each other, we can do this all together, if we all stand as one, and be strong, and be strong and be strong. I dream a dream, a dream of peace and unity, community. I dream a dream, a dream of hope, a dream of love from up above. We are inquirers, thinkers, caring and sharing, open-minded, reflective, balanced, risk takers. For the safety of each other, we can do this all together, if we all stand as one, and be strong, and be strong and be strong.
