Gangcheon Rail Bike Park

First step at Seoul, we enjoyed the railbike ride in nature on old train track at Gangchon Rail Bike Park. It located in Gapyeong, near Nami Island and Petite France. The old train tracks had been turned into a exciting ride in the beautiful countryside. Nice experience with great scenery, streams, paddy fields and mountains. There are also welcomeby an interesting form of architecture and landscape design.



The day we went haven’t bloom but the texture of trees are nice too.


02 Gimyujeong Station

This subway station near to the railbike park. Is a traditional style building in a contemporary site.

Nami Island


It was a great experience that i can flying fox to Nami Island. The weather is so cold but the view on top is so nice. Nami Island is a half moon-shaped island, 63 km away from Seoul, and is famous for its beautiful tree lined roads. A special feature of Namiseom Island is that there are no telephone poles. This is because all electric wires were built underground to keep the natural feeling of the landscape. The island is 553,560 square yards with chestnut trees and poplar trees throughout.

Insadong

Ssamziegil market is a colorful shopping and culture complex in Insadong that features cafes, galleries, and workshops that mix modern and traditional Korean styles. It was very easy to find while the building construction is blend into the surrounding neighbourhood. At the ground floor, encounter a large open courtyard that is surrounded by four floors of shops.


05 Dosan-daero

Seoul is an urban city. It was easily to see any modern high rise building when we walk around at the street. The street always provide walking friendly pedestrian, so we can stand at the roadside to look detail on thier building design in facade and fantastic form.

lotte world tower

Lotte World Tower is one of Korea’s architectural crown jewels. The tower symbolizes the meeting of the modern with the traditional, nature and cutting edge technology, and the accomplishments of man. Lotte World Tower contains everything that is necessary for modern urban living. Soaring 555m into the air; with 123 stories, and is currently the tallest building in South Korea, and is the 5th tallest building in the world.

N Seoul Tower, a proud landmark of Seoul, was built upon the city’s highest point to catch sight of its most beautiful images. They create some romantic elements around the tower to attract couple or young people. With the LED lighting technology that constantly changes colors and patterns, the area displays ‘light art’ providing an unusual cultural art experience.

Gyeongbokgung

palace Gyeongbokgung Palace was the first and largest of the royal palaces built during the Joseon Dynasty. Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace was located at the heart of newly appointed capital of Seoul and represented the sovereignty of the Joseon Dynasty. The largest of the Five Grand Palaces among the others which are Gyeonghuigung Palace, Deoksugung Palace, Changgyeonggung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Gyeongbokgung served as the main palace of the Joseon Dynasty. Nowadays, it is a public area that features gallery, museums, statues, and beautiful surrounding views. Gwanghwamun is the main and largest gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Excluding Tuesday, a traditional ceremony of guard on duty performances takes place twice a day in front of Gwanghwamun, for every opening and closing.

Bukchon Hanok Village Today Bukchon contains almost 900 traditional Korean houses and is a great place to find traditional Korean architecture in modern Seoul.


10 Starfirld Library An amazing public library located in COEX Mall. This public library is open to all, provide comfortable reading space to visitors with largest bookstore in Korea.

cheonggyecheon stream

Until it was restored in 2005, Cheonggyecheon Stream existed only as a neglected waterway hidden by an overpass. Today, it has been transformed into a haven of natural beauty amidst the bustle of city life. People will prefer walking along the stream with providing some leisure space and seating area. The surrounding streets have become popular places for those seeking refreshment and a variety of cultural experiences. Even at night, visitors still can enjoy the fantastic display of light and water.


12 doota mall One of the landmark loacted at the opposite of Dongdaemun Design Plaza, is a fashion mall full of trendy fashion items including designer shops, select shops, luxury brand stores, cafes, and restaurants. Doota is a one-stop shopping center, providing unique, high quality products at reasonable prices under the motto of “Fast & First.�

Dongdaemun design plaza by Zaha Hadid Architects

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) by Zaha Hadid Architects, is a major urban development landmark in Seoul by providing with a hub for art, design and technology, plus a landscaped park that served for public. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) has a meaning of Dream, Design, and Play. It holds various exhibitions, fashion shows, forums, conferences, and other domestic and international events.


The architecture combine both form and spacial experience in DDP.

ehwa womans university Ewha womans university was Korea’s first educational institute for women. The campus have a significant ‘valley’, at the center covering by the various type of trees, flowers, and grass. The link between the architectural concept and the sustainable strategies adopted – underground building, green garden, landscape fracture – gives a strong identity to the building and enable extraordinary performances in terms of sustainability.


The gently descending “valley� leads to a monumental stairway through the campus center, bringing together the different levels of the buildings.

Yeouido Park

Yeouido Park is a large recreational area located on Yeouido Island. People frequented the place for bicycling, roller-skating and relaxing with comfortable walking street. For tourists, is one of a nice spot to see the cherry blossoms and enjoy the delicious local food which along the street. We were visiting in Spring, so we knew we had to go to Yeouido Park to revel in the annual Yeouido Spring Flower Festival, and got the chance to see thousands of beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom along Yunjunro Road.


The streetscapes in Seoul was really impressed me that every space can be a nice scene visually. The street is clean and nice planning landscape, combined with walking friendly pedestrian way. Seoul as a city that provide a good sample to us in urban street design and planning.
