We are in the heart of bull sale season! February is a good marker of sales and sales have been great. Our January sales were much better than projected. With that being said, there are a number of sales to be held that have years and years of genetic planning behind them, including the seedstock programs you will see in this month’s Cattlemen’s Invite. They have presented their best and you can be the beneficiary of their efforts. Give them a call and get the most information you can about the bulls being offered. There are a number of traits to look at when picking out your next line up of herd bulls. Those numbers, pulled together can be a very good tool to help make decisions, but don’t forget the importance of “phenotype!” No matter when you sell your calves, their body composition will be a big part of their value. The livestock business can be very demanding, whether you are buying or selling. Visiting with the producer can be one of the biggest tools when selecting your choices. If you are new to their program, let them know how you market your cattle. We are traveling the country visiting with many seedstock producers, and if you’re looking for a certain type and kind, give us a call. We would be glad to help.
