A NOTE FROM RPI PROMOTIONS The first of March lands us right in the middle of the 2019 bull sale season. Some very outstanding production sales have surfaced already and the demand for bulls has been a pleasant surprise for most. We have seen outstanding quality in the regions we have traveled. The commercial cattlemen have impressed us with their aggressive steps to improve genetics and consistency in the bull battery. The bulls they are buying today are also products of improvements. When you drive up to the bull pen on sale day there have always been a few bulls that stick out, and you say “wow, what a bull.” It seems that this year there is more depth of quality and bulls that come to the top of the herd. The meat supply, that is sold out of our region, will continue to be some of the best the consumer can buy! We have been in a cold spell in our region this winter. Plain and simple, it has started to take an effect on not only the cattle, but the owners as well. Ranch safety cannot be practiced enough. Make sure you take the time to look where your going and that all are out of harms way when operating heavy machinery. As good as most of the sales have been so far, the remaining sales could even be better when testing of herd bulls begins. With the long lasting sub-zero weather that we have experienced, buying an extra couple of bulls might be a great decision come turn out time. Test your herd bulls as soon as you are able, so you may take advantage of the bull sales that are left and you still have a good selection to choose from. As you look throughout this month’s Cattlemen’s Invite, you will have to agree that there are a number of outstanding seedstock operations that are offering you their best. We invite you to give them a call and visit about their program. We are traveling the country, visiting with many seedstock producers, and if you’re looking for a certain type and kind, give us a call. We would be glad to help. Thanks again for your support, trust and friendship.
