A NOTE FROM RPI PROMOTIONS
Welcome to our fourth year of publishing the Cattlemen’s Invite. This direct mail piece that is sent to cattlemen throughout the region, (South Dakota and surrounding states) who want to buy and sell cattle. We will be publishing a January, February, March, and April issue as well. We are in the heart of selling and moving commercial calves in our area, at the time of this writing. An exciting time for a large number of families, as they move their calves off the ranch and eventually feed the world. For instance, eight livestock sales facilities surrounding my county sold over 57,000 head of calves this past week and look to sell more this coming week. The breakdown was real close to 65% steers and 35% heifers. Prices seem to be pretty good on steers, with the heifer to steer spread wider than most sellers would like. Some commercial cattlemen are retaining their heifers, but not at an rate that we expected due to the amount of feed that is available, once you get about 50 miles from our county, in Western South Dakota. Our coverage area as a whole has had a pretty good year for raising feed and the hay yards seem to be in better shape than the past year. That seems to help cattle families keep a more positive attitude than just about anything. In this issue of The Cattlemen’s Invite you will find some very prominent registered cattle ranches that will be offering top of the line genetics in their production sales later this year and into 2019. This time of year is a great time for the commercial cattleman to assess their bull battery from what the calves have done for weight and quality. There are a lot of great cattle out there, but if we can actually improve the bottom 10% of our cows and calves, just think of the extra dollar return we could put in the bank. We invite you to look through our publication and study the offering. They want to help you, the commercial cattleman, succeed. We will be looking through a number of herds this fall and attending livestock sales and events. If you need help marketing your program or making purchases, please feel free to call and visit with us. Thanks again for your support, trust and friendship.

Selling flush brothers
Selling 5 full brothers to the Sitz owned sire Powerball. Powerball was purchased by Sitz Angus in our 2014 sale and went on to have great success in our program along with Sitz’s. In Sitz’s past spring sale the Powerball sons averaged over $10,000. We calved the first Powerball daughters this spring and we couldn’t be happier with them. They have the real broodcow look, moderate, deep ribbed and perfect uddered. These 5 flush brothers are coming 2-year-olds and have the look!!
