Lynettete Miller Lynette Miller uses a 3d shapes to reframe her scenic photographs. Each shape is cut from a picture to rebuild the same photo but with a completely different effect.

Lynette Miller received her MFA in Photography from SUNY Buffalo and taught darkroom photography at Niagara University before moving to the mountains of Western North Carolina. Her work explores alternative, innovative ways of creating and conceptualizing art, and has been exhibited both nationally and internationally.

. I like this way of framing pictures as it has lots of lines drawing your eye to the centre of the picture. It is also a clever way of keeping in the rules of thirds ensuring you can appreciate the beauty the picture brings.

Response to Lynette Miller I definitely think giving the shapes a border really highlights the framing effect. I also think that having the shapes connected keeps the beauty of the picture. I think my work resembles Lynette Miller well because of the types of pictures I used where of the scenic nature seen at Brighton beach. Adjusting the light and brightness of the picture really had a positive effect as it gave more texture to the picture.

I am pleased with the effect my pictures have finished with. By working with the colour, giving the shapes an edge and interconnecting them I think they represent Lynette Miller well.

Aaron Siskin Aaron Siskind was an American photographer widely considered to be closely involved with, if not a part of the abstract expressionist movement.

I think my work resembles Lynette Miller well because of the types of pictures I used where of the scenic nature seen at Brighton beach. Adjusting the light and brightness of the picture really had a positive effect as it gave more texture to the picture.

I can see the appeal of these pictures as he really brings out the texture of the picture. Through doing this he is able to highlight parts of the picture we normally over look.

Response to Aaron Siskin Whilst working with different types of pictures to respond to Siskins work I definately found the pictures of older materialss worked better. With all my manipulated photos changing them to black and white or sepia whilst focussing on definate sections of the picture really changed the texture and dimension.

Through cropping the picture and focussing on the slightly eroded parts of thhe objects I was really able to change the teture and bring the picture to life. I enjoyed responding to Siskins work as I liked the idea.

SPLASH OF COLOUR

RESPONSE TO SPLASH OF COLOUR

Colour Splash gives photos a dramatic look. By converting them to black and white, while keeping the chosen details in colour draws the viewers’ attention to the coloured areas, creating striking images.

I really like this effect. By using bright colours with a black and white back round the pictures intensity really lightens up and gives a relaxing of pleasing feel about it.

Although i am happy with the effect of the splash of colour brings the pictures I do not feel they are vibrant enough to fully enhance them. I really like this effect. By using bright colours with a black and white back round the pictures intensity really lightens up and gives a relaxing of pleasing feel about it.

I used the same photo of the bike with two different effects. The bright colour of the frame really gives the picture a modern twist and brings the picture to life.

PICTURES I LIKE THE MOST

DEVELOPED IDEA ONE

By changing the colour of the sail and contrasting it to the black and white back ground the boat is really emphasised in the picture. To further enhance the picture I have reframed it with circles ensuring there is enough back ground for the splash of colour to work.

DEVELOPED IDEA TWO By manipulating the colour and cropping a picture of tree roots I have changed the texture of this picture. To further highlight effects of this I have broken the picture in to three triangles giving it sharp edges and a harsher feeling which combines well with the Sepia effect.

TOURIST SIDE OF BRIGHTON In this picture I have taken Lynette Millers idea of reframing pictures in a different direction. Instead of reframing one picture I have made one picture by combining several pictures. I used a blurred image of a camera to keep the tourist theme but without it domnating the piicture. The blue colour through out helps the smooth transition through each frame and givs a real sense of a calm summer holiday. I blurred the camera so it did not dominate the picture but helped emphasise the blue coulours used through out.

DIRTY SIDE OF BRIGHTON As in the tourist picture I have once again framed the picture with several pictures to make one whole picture. I used bright colour for the writing to really contrast against both the feeling the picture gives and the colours used.

The frame on in the right centre of the pictures was changed to balck and white with the contrast increased. This was based n what Siskin did to change the texture of the picture and give it a darker feeling.
