YOU ARE THE BEST NATION PRODUCED [AS AN EXAMPLE] FOR MANKIND. (Aali-Imran: 3-110)
We believe that as Muslims, we can be leading members of our modern communities, bringing about change and hope into society, in all aspects of life. Islam is a complete way of life and the FAMILY RETREAT are unique in that they aim to nurture and instil within us that desire to be an integral part of that change. The FAMILY RETREAT programme is unique, in that unlike other day events or weekend seminars, it provides an Islamic environment that cultivates deep thinking and focuses on us reconnecting with our Creator. Spending three to four days away from the world amongst like minded people, we not only build connections with our fellow brothers and sisters but importantly we rebuild our connection with our Lord. Indeed the key to our success is through that deep-rooted connection with Allah that manifests itself in our every thought, word and action. As-salamu’alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, Dear Brothers & Sisters, It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our 4th FAMILY RETREAT. One of our most successful projects that has been specially developed to nurture every member of the family unit with its inspiring lectures, reflective seminars, engaging panel discussions and wholesome youth programme. Nearly 4 years ago we started with the topic of the King of kings, followed by His beloved Messenger, Muhammad SWS and then onto the Message that His Messenger brought to us – al-Qur’an. Now, we bring you the Companions, the blessed quranic generation to whom the revelation of the Qur’an was bestowed upon. It is our sincere hope that this Retreat paves the way to encouraging your families to identify with the Companions as our ultimate role models and heroes and hopefully emulate them and like them become another great generation. It has been a dream of our foundation to equip and strengthen our community with the characteristics that will really make them flourish and make them beacons of light for all of humanity, just like the Companions have been for 1400 years. We really hope you enjoy this FAMILY RETREAT and that you leave this place and return to your communities reinvigorated and with open minds, ready to become the driving force behind positive change in today’s society. So, please relax and soak in the environment of what we have prepared for you this weekend, in lectures, seminars and discussions and get to know one another over the next few days. The more we know about our environment and ourselves the more ready we are to take it on and bring about positive change.
wa’alaykum as salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu Your Brother in Islam

SEMINAR 07 / In Defence of The Companions Allegations & Misconceptions surrounding this blessed generation Description: If the Prophets were the subject of much misinformation and distortion to the reality of their characters and messages, it comes as no surprise that the Companions, being the greatest of people after the Prophets, were not saved from having lies and fabrications hurled against them. In this seminar, some of the allegations and misconceptions surrounding them are examined and answered.
SEMINAR 08 / The Best of Generations II An in depth look into the essential keys to understanding them
Please note: The seminars run in parallel (4 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday) so a choice has to be made each day concerning which seminar you wish to attend.

PANELS PANEL 01 / The Companions Discussion: Do we really need to take guidance from them? Description: The panellists will discuss the obligation or otherwise to adopt the guidance of the companions. What does guidance actually mean here? How can one adopt their guidance if they themselves differed? Surely their agreements and approach was for a time suited to them and our times dictate our own unique understanding and interpretation? These are some of the topics up for discussion.
PANEL 02 / The Companions Discussion: Legendary Super Heroes? Description: This panel will cover topics such as the fallibility of the Companions. What is the realistic picture of the Companions’ era. Is our view of it rose tinted? How do we address doubts concerning them thrown by orientalists and others? Can they have imperfections and still remain the best ever generation and role models?
MRDF Family Retreat 2015 | 1436
PANEL 03 / The Companions Discussion: Is following their examples possible in 21st Century Britain? Description: How does a person with a nine-to-five job take the companions as his role model? How about someone without much knowledge? The ummah is quite disunited are there signs of this changing anytime soon - how would the companions deal with this. These and many more questions will be the subject of discussion in this panel.

The Fabric of society is weaved with many challenges and tests. It is not a surprise that many of us struggle with identifying and solving all the problems we face in society. As a result we become drained mentally with the challenges we face individually and more importantly collectively as the fabric of society with no clear guidance on this important subject. This December join us at the Family Conference during the bank holiday weekend where we highlight, discuss and debate with interactive workshops, intriguing panel discussions and reviving lectures on ridding ourselves of the social ills found in the fabric of our society. Don’t miss out and book now! Limited Rooms Available. FRIDAY 25TH DEC 2015 - MONDAY 28TH DEC 2015
