First Time...

I was born March 22 1987 in Raleigh North Carolina where I have also lived all my life. I’ve always been a lover of music, but I became a Fan and believer in hip hop in the fifth grade. My best friend at the time would always be listening to hip hop tracks on his walk-man, and telling me how he was going to be this huge rapper. Before I knew it, I was sucked into wanting to do the same. We would spend days and nights at each other’s house writing and practicing our rhymes with each other….But the first track that became a crush for me was Notorious B.I.G “Hypnotize”.

Big Change...

Last year I lost my grandmother on August 25th 2012. She was always the spiritual leader and backbone of my family. As far as I can look back my grandmother had always been the safety net that I could rely on whether in need of money, prayer or just someone to say “I’m proud of you baby”. After coming to grips with her loss, I have had to focus on excelling in my career and becoming the role model and supporter for my family…and hope to be half as strong as she always was.

2013...

I currently have my new project, a 10 track EP “Hard To Stop A Train” out flooding the streets, as well as a collaborative single “Take Them Panties” with fellow Carolina based artist Ike Ellis. Meanwhile, I am in the studio wrapping up my next official album that will be releasing in stores early 2014.

NEXT...

I got next because I am one of the hardest working dude in this business…..anyone that truly knows my work ethic knows that I do this all the time…..fuck 25/8….I do this 27/10! LOL……..But it’s because I truly love making music and having my fans and followers reach out to let me know just how much they enjoy my music. Ideally I want to be one of the largest mainstream acts to come out of North Carolina, though I understand it takes time and a lot of hard work to get a music career to that level. Honestly I feel that my sound is unique and that all of my recent successes show that the people have something they can believe in.

“If your dreams don’t scare you... you’re not dreaming big enough.”Eric Benet

To me this just confirmed all that I had been feeling trying to make it as a artist in today’s music industry and trying to keep the strength and courage to keep pushing forward though all the rejection and barriers that come with attempting to be succeed in this business.

“2013 is looking beautiful so far man. I just dropped my second video. Getting ready to film the 3rd and waiting for the mix and mastered versions of every song to come back for my album. My audio engineer working hard right now. We should be releasing the album late this year of 2013. It will be available all over Itunes, google play, amazon, etc. Also we are going to be releasing some merchandise as well as a new website for my fans. They been asking for a while now so i think its time. haha”

Where do you come from? I’m from the West Coast. North West to be exact. I was born in Moses Lake, Wa and lived in an area called “The Base” then I moved to Yakima, Wa and grew up on south 6th St.. The neighborhood we lived in was predominantly Latinos and Blacks. It was and still is the rough part of my city, but i love it. My grandma still lives there actually. My pops caught a case when i was a kid and he served a 12 year bid. Moms did it on her own for the most part, it was tough growing up man, but my mom always held us down. And my pops did what he could while he was incarcerated. But while you’re locked down there is only so much you can do. I respect them both for it though. And appreciate it everything. When did you fall in love with hip-hop? The first time i fell in love with hip-hop was the early 90’s man. Well i was born in 88 but my whole life its been about hip-hop. The first record though that really comes to mind had to have been “Warren G- Regulators” i think that was 94 or 95 man i was like seven years old. haha! we were sitting outside in front of my cousins house sweatin bad, because it was mad hot outside that day. Like 103 degrees. And my uncle pulled up bumpin it in his lowrider. He was like 19 at the time. I still remember hearing Nate-Doggs voice for the first time. And how sick it sounded with that beat. R.I.P. to the big homie Nate-Dogg by the way.But yea man from that moment on i felt 16

hip-hop baselines in my heart beat. The snare in my pulse. And the sounds in my head. It changed my life forever bro. Started spittin my own rhymes right after that. Krazy street story? A:The craziest story i have actually has to do with hip-hop. I was involved in a hip-hop competition. At the time i was in a group with some family members. i was 16 at the time. And making straight hood music man. So we were at this show and we rocked it man, but mid way through our second performance (Round Two) the sound man turned off our mics. So mid way through the song until the end there was no vocals coming out of our mics. That made us mad. So we got into an argument with the sound man and his crew, they were also competing. And the argument escalated to a fight. And i mean a huge brawl bro. It was bad. Anyway we all got searched before we entered the club. Metal detectors and all that. But them cats were part of the team that were hosting the show so they didn’t get checked. So, in the middle of the fight all of a sudden my boys start dropping. And my boys were soldiers man, i never seen any of em get dropped. But they weren’t getting knocked out, they were getting shanked man (stabbed) and it was crazy. so the fight moved outside and we still fighting man and more of my people are getting shanked and at that time in my life I wasn’t afraid of anything man. Not that i am now, but i’m older now. I have values.

I know how to pick and choose my battles. I’m not young and dumb and hot tempered like used to be. Anyway, long story short I got shanked to man. Cops showed up. i got tasered after i got stabbed and then after the cop realized i was bleeding all over he had me picked up by an ambulance and sent to the hospital. I passed out on the way to the hospital man. Woke up a few hours later to my moms and little brothers voice. The hospital security didn’t give them any info about me and wouldn’t tell them if i was there or even ok. Finally, hours later, they let them in and thats when i woke up to them crying. That was a horrible feeling man. Seeing the pain in my mom and little brothers eyes. Turns out all the member of my crew were shanked. Some worse than others. We all spent a few days in the hospital man, but thankfully no one passed away. That experience changed me a lot man. I was sixteen. And the first time i got shanked was below the lower part of my ear. The Dr said had it been a couple more centimeters it would’ve hit my main artery. And i would have bled to death on the spot. There would’ve been nothing they could have done for me. But even after that man i couldn’t put the mic down. And i haven’t put it down since. Matter of fact i hold it even tighter in my hand now. And go twice as hard. Thats why i feel like i’m here for this music man. I could’ve lost my life doing this, but i didn’t. I’m still here. http://twitter.com/king_sinz

“If I can do it, you can do it too.”(Rocko) I feel that. It’s relatable. It’s letting me know that we all have a gift and our own way to express it but to be my own voice make it known. Why not?”

“I think videos are one of the best ways to market music currently. With the power of social media today, the majority of everything is being done over the internet. Youtube is a very strong way to get your music across to people...” For our readers, where do you come from? Where were you born? I was born in Connecticut and my parents are from New York. We then moved to Cleveland, Ohio when I was real young because of a job opportunity that my father took. How is the local Hip Hop scene Where you grew up? The hip hop scene within the Cleveland area is strong. The movement really started back in the ‘90’s when Bone Thugs N Harmony emerged. Since then its grown over the years, not to mention a lot of progression within the city itself. The thing you love about your city? If I had to name one thing that I love about Cleveland, it would have to be the pride within all the people. Everyone is also very supportive of the city and all the events that go on within the city. Cleveland has some of the most supportive sports fans that you can find which is always a positive factor. The thing you hate? If I had to say one thing that I dislike, I would have to say that it would be that the people of the city of Cleveland haven’t gotten a championship sports team in a long time. And I feel that the people and the city deserve that because like I had said before, the city has some of the most supportive fans that you could find. How did you get into music when you were younger? That special time you discovered your talent? I got in to music when I was younger through just listening to what my friends were listening to and what was on the radio. I remember listening to a lot of Green Day when I was younger.

24

The first two CD’s that I ever purchased were the Dangerous Minds soundtrack album and Snoop Doggy Dogg’s ‘Doggystyle’ album. In grade school and middle school I played the trumpet in the school band. I guess the time where I discovered my talent would have been when we were at certain parties in high school and groups of us would freestyle for fun and everything kind of grew from there. When I went to college, I met a few people that produced and recorded in the city of Pittsburgh, and that’s where things kind of started. The friends and people I was working with heard me rap and somewhat urged me to create a demo, and things progressed from there. How did you find your artist name? The simple answer to that would be that it came from my first name being Don, and my last name being Andre, hence it did. But I actually got it first when I was in middle school, and there was a kid who started calling me DonDre, and it just seemed to stick from there on, and that’s how the name really became what it is today. Sounds like you have a real good buzz via Youtube... Who are your partners in crime? The team behind your movement? The people and team behind the movement that I have been working with is Brooklyn West, Brooklyn West Records, with a distribution deal through Universal Music Group. Which has helped get my music to different outlets all over, including itunes, amazon, and all other major online music retailers where you can purchase the recent single “How Everything Should Be” and the next single “Picture Frame”. Through this, we’ve been able to grow a fan base through facebook, twitter,

and youtube. You can follow me on twitter at www.twitter.com/officialdondre and follow and like my page on facebook which is www.facebook. com/officialdondre So far, what are your 3 biggest Highlights? I’d say my three biggest highlights thus far would have to be working with Brooklyn West Records, having my songs put out all over the internet, and the positive response and support that I have received from viewers and fans through youtube, twitter, and facebook. Let’s talk about the “How Everything Should Be” video... What is the concept behind that song? The concept behind the “How Everything Should Be” video was really just for the video to imitate the words of the song. The video starts off in a bar which is what the lyrics talk of. And then as the girl in the song and I get closer emotionally and physically, you can see as the video tries to paint that picture and convey or portray that image. Can we expect other videos before the end of the year? I would like to have the video for “Picture Frame” done by the end of the year but we’ll see with how people’s schedules are, and what else might be going on during that time period. Do you think videos are the best way to market music nowadays? I think videos are one of the best ways to market music currently. With the power of social media today, the majority of everything is being done over the internet. Youtube is a very strong way to get your music across to people

“Everyone in music has their own life stories to speak about. There are many different varieties of music and genre’s nowadays that the listeners and consumers can choose... which music and artist would fit them best.

“My message for kids would be to follow and pursue what you love. If there’s a dream you have, you should follow it... My dream would be to take this music world wide and change the world musically” Can you present us your next project? Do you already have the playlist? The artwork? Some special guests on it? For the next projects coming up, there’s a few different things that are gonna be worked on. As I said before, we have the video for “Picture Frame” coming up. There will be another single coming out as well as the video but there will be no special guests on that single. We do already have the cover art or artwork for the single that would be coming up. I will keep everyone up to date with everything going on through twitter and facebook. Is there too much violence in Hip hop? I don’t feel there is too much violence in hip hop. Everyone in music has their own life stories to speak about. There are many different varieties of music and genre’s nowadays that the listeners and consumers of music can choose which music and artist would fit them best. What is your message for kids...those young Hip Hop addicts!? My message for kids would be to follow and pursue what you love. If there’s a dream you have, you should follow it. But also during that period of time of following your dream, you also have to make ends meet. Whether it’s putting bread on the table or paying your bills, still follow your dream but don’t stop working, hustling, going to school or whatever’s necessary to make ends meet. And dealing with hip hop and lovers of the music, listen to the music but don’t always take everything so literally and just have fun with it.

How do you imagine DonDre, ten years from now? It’s hard to envision something so far down the road, but ideally I would like for things musically to constantly keep growing and to eventually grow larger so I would be everywhere so people of the world would get to know DonDre as a person and as an artist. What are your dreams? Do you live from your music? My dream would be to take this music world wide and change the world musically. And eventually grow and evolve from music and create other businesses whether it’s in the entertainment industry or in the corporate world. I think I live from my music but also my music lives from me as well, because both exist because of the other. I couldn’t live without my music and my music couldn’t live without me. Tell us the kraziest story you ever had in your life... It’s hard to pick one crazy story but one of my craziest stories probably happened a few years back. I was in my car in my driveway getting ready to leave and back down the driveway. I started backing down the driveway and then threw out my piece of gum, which I meant to throw on the grass but it landed on the driveway. I got out of the car to pick up the piece of gum and throw it in the grass and when I turned around, the car was rolling down the driveway. I tried chasing it but I couldn’t catch it, and it ended up hitting a tree. The back bumper was barely hanging on, but I was going to a friend’s birthday celebration and so I just drove the car around for the night with the bumper barely hanging on to the car. I’d have to say that’s one of my crazier, more interesting stories.
