HIGHLIGHTS...

“My dream is to make a good living off what I do best make music & try to help misfortunate people especially young people through my music.”

I was born in Brixton, South London, United Kingdom December 7th 1987. I used to listen to music from a very young age. Was mainly into Hip-hop but I really started writing around the age of 16 when the genre Grime 1st started to get big over here. Growing up in South London the Hip-hop scene was really small. Everyone loved it but most artists were doing Garage, Jungle, Grime or house music at the time. It’s only as I got older that a lot of artists started to do Hip-Hop. As I’ve matured as an artist Hip-Hop is what I now represent to the core REAL HIPHOP that is.

There are so many highlights but the main ones for me are making over £4,000 for charity through my E.P ‘Paying Homage to the King’ in a year was crazy never expected to make so much. Getting the story of my E.P in over 40 newspapers, websites & blogs including MTV I never expected so much support. Performing live at the mayor’s charity dinner in front of many different mayors from all over London. Going on BBC Radio & Ben TV to talk about my music. Being nominated for 3 awards in a year the Official Mixtape Awards, Croydon Champion’s Award & Beffta (Black Entertainment Film Fashion Televison & Arts) Awards. Last but definitely not least was going back to back rapping with legendary rapper Krs-One at a hotel when he came to tour London that was a big highlight.

16

My biggest challenge is getting my music to the masses once that happens I believe I will be received well for my honesty and skill in music. When I make music it’s just me letting off my frustrations & knowledge on to a page. I try to make music with substance; I want people to feel something when they hear me rap. That’s why most of my music has a message to it I don’t write just for the sake of it. A lot of people call me a role model now after what I did with my E.P. I want to continue raising money for charity through my music & inspire youths to be positive.

“If I can do it, you can do it too.”(Rocko) I feel that. It’s relatable. It’s letting me know that we all have a gift and our own way to express it but to be my own voice make it known. Why not?”

“Since I was bullied as a child, I decided at a very young age that I wanted to do something to help other kids overcome bullying and show them that they are important. My partnership with PACER National Bullying Preventation Center allows for me to meet this goal and to provide my fans with helpful resources to overcome bullying.

STATS >> About thirty percent of students in the United States are in-

volved in bullying on a regular basis either as a victim, bully or both. These school bullying statistics show what a problem bullying of all kinds in the United States has become. The recent school bullying statistics show that cyber bullying is becoming increasingly prevalent on school property as well as involving students even when they are not at school. Because of this growing number of kids affected by bullying, more and more schools throughout the country are cracking down on the measures taken to stop bullying. via http://www.bullyingstatistics.org

Interview For our readers, where do you come from? Born in McKinney, TX and later moved to Frisco, TX where I have lived for the last 13 years. How is the local music scene in Dallas? Its up and coming and really exciting to be a part of a blooming market The thing you love the most about your city? The culture and food. Tex Mex is the best. The thing you hate? Weather, it can’t make its mind up.

How did you get into music when you were younger? That special time you discovered your talent? I was young, I always loved to sing, but it became a passion once I started playing the piano. It just came naturally. Sounds like you have a massive buzz online now... Tell us the story! How did the adventure begin? When I was 13, I put a video online and it took off. I received really positive comments, which motivated me to post more videos. One of my videos reach over 2mm views in less than 30 days.

“On the heels of anti-bullying month of October, the young singer announced that he will serve as a spokesperson for PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center to further bring awareness and help prevent bullying. “We are thrilled to have Jacobson as a spokesperson,” says Julie Hertzog, Director of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. “Colton is a very talented artist and he has a really powerful message for his peers. Through his music he can reach other teens in an impactful way, letting them know that it’s OK to be different, that it’s cool to be who you really are. He truly is ‘unstoppable.”
Was Youtube decisive for your career? Yes, it was a paramount aspect of my career. It allowed for me to build a fan base than spans the world. So far, what are your 3 biggest Highlights? 1. Performing live on the radio (Kidd Kraddick In The MorningRadio Show) KARMIN 2. Becoming a National Spokesperson for PACER National Bullying Prevention Center 3. The release of my album “Unstoppable” First time we discover your music, we thought “Hey, the next Justin Bieber!”... Do you often hear that around you? Do you take it as a compliment? Yes, I hear it all the time. I think it is because I am a young male singer that was discovered on Youtube.

26

Let’s talk about the message behind your music. Obviously, you are very involved in Bully Prevention. Personally, did you face bullying at school? Yes, I faced bullying first hand when I was in elementary school. I learned at a very young age how important it is to be yourself and not let others hold you back from reaching your dreams and telling you that you are not good enough. Can you tell us more about the Bully Prevention Movement? Since I was bullied as a child, I decided at a very young age that I wanted to do something to help other kids overcome bullying and show them that they are important. My partnership with PACER National Bullying Preventation Center allows for me to meet this goal and to provide my fans with helpful resources to overcome bullying.

How can you define your musical background? At a young age, I took piano lessons at a local music school. One day in my lesson, I started to sing to a song and my teach said “hey, you’re a good singer”. Several years later, I entered a Talent Show at my elementary school and brought down the house where I sang Image by the Beattles acapella.

Can we expect other videos for 2013? Absolutely!!! I am currently working on a video for my song “New Day”. We hope to release it after the first of the year.

“As social networking and online social interaction becomes more and more popular with sites like Facebook and Twitter, cyberbullying has become one of the most prevalent types of bullying that occurs between teens. About 80 percent of all high school students have encountered being bullied in some fashion online. These growing numbers are being attributed to youth violence including both homicide and suicide. While school shootings across the country are becoming more and more common, most teens that say they have considered becoming violent toward their peers, wish to do so because they want to get back at those who have bullied them online. About 35 percent of teens have been actually threatened online. About half of all teens admit they have said something mean or hurtful to another teen online. Most have done it more than once.” via http://www.bullyingstatistics.org

How do you imagine Colton Jacobson ten years from now? Hopefully selling music to millions of people, and selling out arenas around the world!

What are your upcoming projects for 2014? I am currently working with several producers out of New York on my next project. I hope to release several of my new tracks in early 2014.

What are your dreams? To inspire others and motivate my fans to help people. Your worst nightmare? People making fun of me.
