“The business of America is business” -Calvin Coolidge
Economic Boom Coming out a victor in the world war the US is now seeing the rise they have ever so deserved. This strong beacon of a nation has truly demonstrated its capability to contend with the great European powers. Even now, the decade after the war has ended the US continues to show great promise. The new decade has evidently shown great promise from an economic standpoint. This “Economic Boom has made significant new economic advances, led to advancements in the manufacturing department, better standards of living, and expansion in the consumer market due to company competition. The promise shown with the new economic advances are seen in many ways giving a legitimate understanding of the state of the economy. One example of the new economic advances was the introduction of the stock market. The stock market is a new investment method that can increase your initial input of money over time. Another example of the new economic advances is how electricity is being used to improve the speed of manufacturing. This led to faster and cheaper car manufacturing. Finally, an example advances in the economy is how wages have increased significantly. A concludable mean of all the wage increases has shown a 26% increase from 1919. Another way that the state of the economy is shown is through the manufacturing advancements. Such advancements have been seen through the invention of the Ford assembly line. The ford assembly line helped manufacturing along so much that a Model T was made every ten seconds. These manufacturing advancements also made the price of a Model T drop from $850 to $295. This made the Model T a more common family purchase and a more accessible purchase. The higher living standards in the 1920s were a direct effect of the state of the economy. The economic success led to the ability to purchase the ergonomical goods and better wages for individuals. This success was the effect of many causes, one of which being the expanded sales departments which gave more purchase opportunities. The mass production lines which made the purchase of said items more affordable. The final cause for this would be the salesman strategies which manipulated consumers into buying more products. ~Bijan Toulabi
WETs Dear Editor, My stand on prohibition is that we should be allowed to drink what ever we want to drink! The problem is that some people are careless with their rights and not responsible. They take advantage every saturday night in the club. it is natural for people to take a drink in the jazz clubs when the music starts. people are the problem not the alcohol. Our constitution guarantees our rights to freedom and the pursuits of happiness. Julian Jones
Kellogg Briand Pact “The treaty to end all wars
By: Lucas Karwal With the end of World War I new peace documents are being signed and adopted by countries like one of the most important ones, the Kellogg Briand Pact. The Kellogg Briand Pact is the Pact to outlaw war and the agreement to settle disputes in a peaceful non-violent manner and is being signed by multiple countries including; Australia, Belgium, Canada, France and Germany. The Kellogg Briand Pact is amazing because now we will not have to ration for war anymore, we will not have to donate anymore food, money and clothing to war, we will not have to grow and can our own food for the winter, there will now be plenty for everyone to eat and there will be more sugar, tea, coffee and meats for everyone because there will be no more rationing for war. Some other names you might hear are the Pact of Paris and the General Treaty for the Renunciation of War. And no the name Kellogg Briand Pact did not come from the breakfast cereal company Kelloggs it came from the co-authorisor Frank B. Kellogg who is also a lawyer and a politician. America is working towards world peace by making this pact and that is good because during war many lives are lost including Americans. World War One alone killed 116,516 American soldiers and we had one of the lowest death totals. Countries like Russia and France both had over one million deaths and Russia had close to five million wounded. So with this pact we are saving our future generations and children from war and death.

Ku Klux Klan The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was started in the early 1920. It was mainly in the southern states. They were against Negroes, catholics, Jews and and foreign Immigrants. The klan has grew from a few thousand to millions in a decade. They were white christian male native born. From 1920-1930 the population of the Ku Klux Klan reached 4 million members. After WWI the KKK had been growing because of the arrivals of new foreign people. Today there are about 10 groups of the KKK. Most of theme are in Tennessee and Montgomery. The Klan mostly included angry whites wanting complete extinction of African Americans, Jews, or any non Christians. Politicians also supported the Klan and also wanted to make the Klan larger. Most of the KKK were in the south. The main political party that supported the KKK were Democrats. The Midwestern part of the Klan were Republicans and Democrats. Today in Tennessee there are large numbers of KKK groups. There are protests and rallies in Tennessee and North Carolina. KKK groups today are rising from 5,000 member to 8,000 member. They are fighting for whites and believe in Lynching African Americans. They still do KKK gatherings but they cannot kill or Assault anyone. There are families that wear the white knights uniforms and burn crosses. They still can’t do the same as what the kkk did in the 1920’s. Today KKK members still believe in the same thing but know that they cannot hurt people.

Urban Vs Rural Urban The 20s is the first decade that more Americans are living in urban areas rather than rural areas and that is because there are more jobs and opportunities in urban areas than in rural areas. You are very limited in rural areas because you can only be a farmer or a owner of a small business. In urban areas you can own big businesses and companies and even get involved in the stock market and have a chance to get a lot of money. Urban living is the modern way to live because of more jobs and opportunities and you can finally live for yourself. Lucas Karwal
Rural Most americans in 1812 lived in rural. the rural people work on farms and plant food and other things. their was mostly death and diseases occurred but mostly death because winter came and there wasn't fresh food to eat. men married in their mid 20s and the wife is a few years older. when they live in house there wasn't really any privacy and that in small houses there were no separate bedroom, kitchen, and living rooms. women believe that when they are married the husband should take care of them. in rural there's relaxing and natural but in urban there was stress. Scopes Trial Fair or Unfair? Unfair The Scopes trial was unlawful and unjust. This trait revoked the freedom of expression. This trial also mixed religion and government. This man was punished for a scientific discovery. This falls under cruel and unusual punishment, yet another amendment broken by this trial. The idea of evolution is backed by multiple pieces of explainable science. Religion is backed up with the idea of magic and supreme power that has yet to be seen.
Fair The Scopes trial was in the best interest for our future. As a society we thrive off of the words of god and in the holy books there is no statement of evolution. With our generation slowly dying out we can’t leave on a note that changes everything for our children. Evolution is only a theory for a specific reason there is not enough information to support it. However religion has many holy books and other milestones proving it right. Mohamed Abdullmaged

Faith or Science? What can I believe in anymore?
Evolution has become the topic of the day as more and more individuals begin to question their faith. As an individual begins research on evolution the first thing stumbled upon will be Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. Charles’ theory has the primitive concept of natural selection incorporated into it. The theory states that as ape evolved into man the many species that stood alongside said ape either showed lack in adaptability, lack in defense, or loss to competition. This being stated the survival of man’s predecessor showed that they were the fittest in the category. This theory has been attacked many times but proof continuously comes out to shoot down said arguments. Some of the many arguments that religious colleagues have shot at evolution have come in slightly weak assertion. An example of one of these assertions would be along the lines of “The immune system is too complex to have evolved.”. This has been used in many arguments but was recently shot down as we have found other fossils with proof of immune systems. Another assertion would be “Evolution could never produce an eye”. This was once again proved wrong recently with the argument of bats using sonar waves. Finally, an argument that proves how religion has been wrong before is the statement that “The sun revolves around the sun” this was proved wrong as the earth in actuality revolves around the sun. For over 150 years- Since the Charles Darwin theory. The theory of evolution has been through more scrutiny and investigations for it beliefs. Since then the Theory of evolution has been strengthened by more accurate evidence. There has been lots of discoveries and research to support evolution. Across the world Evolution is still being researched. Evolution is nearly Internationally accepted. Important research is being done to accept and approve Evolution. ~Mohamed Abdullmaged and Bijan Toulabi
