WELCOME Hi Everyone!

Greetings and a warm welcome to the very first issue of Xperts Magazine!

I’m thrilled to welcome you to our newest annual supplement. I am celebrating my 20th year as a New York- St. Maarten-Istanbul celebrity hairdresser. My passion evolved into a profession and I couldn’t be more excited to have made it to this point.

For some, the best part about this island is a day at the shore. For me, it's a day at the salon. Maybe it's because of the love I have for hair but during this time of year all I can think about are the latest hair trends, inspiration and, most importantly, keeping my clients happy.

In this special issue we’ll steer you toward all that’s fresh, relevant and fun for the year. You will notice the categories with the latest beauty and hair tips, styles, products and transformations.

"Greyfully" Being the hottest hue at this moment, going grey is no longer a horror moment but rather a statement. In this extreme makeover Eyup Akyurt transformed our model's hair into a Platinum Silver Blonde. Do you dare to go grey?

STEP 1 - PREPPING Bleach was first applied to eliminate unwanted brassy hues. L’Oreal silver color was then used to tone the hair. An undercut technique was done to create beautiful layers. Hair was washed with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner followed by a Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask treatment.

STEP 2 - THE MIX Platinum Silver Blonde by L’Oreal al Professionnel

STEP 3 - THE STYLING Kerastase Volume Mousse was applied sparingly. Hair was blow dried using L’Oreal’s medium round brush. Kerastase Discipline Fluidissime to control the frizz and the look was finished with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray ‘Strong’.

INTRODUCING

PAPYON The Akyurt brothers brings the latest international trends in hairdressing to Williamsburg.

W

hen Suphi Akyurt started his career as a hairstylist in Izmir, Turkey in 1965 he never envisioned that one day he would be called head of what would become the Akyurt Hair Dynasty.

Father to seven sons, he passed this trade down to his eldest, Mehmet, who took the family business to the next level, opening multiple successful salons across Istanbul.

From there, Mehmet's younger brothers, Eyup and Sinan rooted the family's enterprise in the heart of the Caribbean, St. Maarten.

THE MAIN ROOM Spacious, where all the magic happens

Within a short time they established their masterful and creative skills. The brothers loved customizing their styling skills to fit their customers’ needs and became the number one hair salon on the Island.

After a time Eyup and Sinan developed working relationships with celebrity salons in New York. Falling in love with the city, they decided to further expand the dynasty by bringing their expertise to New York permanently, giving birth to PAPYON. They found Williamsburg to be the right place to call home, fitting with their style and ambiance.
