Chapter 1: Start the wagons and set off ! You will learn about the louisiana purchase,lewis and clark and westward expansion. You will move along with the people moving west.
Louisiana Purchase In 1803 Thomas Jefferson our 3rd president ,bought the Louisiana Purchase from france .It was 15 million dollars.It was an unland wast of the Mississippi River to the Rockey mountas.the tarritory was 282,800 square miles.It even dubled the size of our country overnight.Are contrary got bigger as 2 men explore Lewis and Clark
President Thomas Jefferson sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clark on their journey west on May 14 1804. Lewis and Clark and the 40 men traveled 7,000 miles.They traveled by boat up the missouri river.They meet a native american woman named Sacagawea who joined the trip.They even made friends.They even treated with other tribes.They went to see if the Missouri River and the pacific ocean connected.In 1806 Lewis and Clark came home agan to St.Louis.

Westward Movement In 1840,people started moving west to see what was out there.Our country got bigger.There only 44 states.There were lots of trails like the Oregon Trail the California Trail and the Santa fe Trail.Not that much people survived the journey.
