Chapter 1: A about the Oregon Trail The louisiana Purchase In 1803, Thomas Jefferson (3rd president) Bought the louisiana Purchase from France. It was 15 million dollars that doubled the size of our country. The territory was 828,800 square miles and it started west of the Mississippi River to the start of the Rocky Mountains. It was unknown land.

Lewis and Clark After Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Purchase, he asked Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and 40 other men to explore the unknown. They all Gather supplies and got started heading west in may 1804. They started to explore, first on the Missouri River and the Mississippi River. They found a Shoshone woman named sacagawea. She was the first woman joined Lewis and Clark. Sacagawea was the first woman to the Expedition and a guide and interpreter . Lewis and Clark went over 7,000 miles on their trip. In 1806, they turned around and headed home

Moving west In 1840, people started moving west. They moved west for gold, free farm, and land. When you moved there people/ pioneers would stay in california for gold. You wouldn't go back even if you do live in Oregon because it cost money to go back. In 1890 people stopped moving west.

Chapter 2: All about the Oregon Trail What was the Oregon Trail? The oregon Trail was the most popular trail west. Over 300,000 people/pioneers traveled west. The Oregon Trail took about 6 months and it started Independence Missouri and ended in Oregon City. You would leave in the spring because in the winter it is too cold and the ox will not have nothing to eat. The Trail was 2,000 miles west to Oregon. The oregon trail was dangerous, it was hard to get food, and the pioneers had chores.

What was the pioneers daily life? The Oregon Trail was dangerous, the pioneers ad many chores, and it was hard to get food. the wagon train makes a circle to protect them from wild animals. A lot of people died from diseases ,native americans, and Bad weather. The desserts were a hot place with no food and water. The trail on the mountains was right next to the edge of the mountain. When they wake up the grown-ups hunt and cut wood, while the kids gather wood for fires, milk cows, and help other peoples farm. The woman make the food. They get there food by hunting animals.

Chapter 3 The Oregon Trail Helped a lot of people. With out there braverie the wouldn't make it through the deserts and mountains. IF there is no water they would die and if there is no food they well die.

Independence -a city in missouri. interpreter -a person who tells another a person that speaks a different language to the person who can't speak that language. diseases -a sickness that is really bad
