Cuddly Buggly By Mrs. Cordova It was a cold, gloomy winter night when the Cordova family found themselves sitting in the living room watching a movie. Mom was thinking about her tough day at school and how she was going to make it better the next day instead of spending quality time with her four kids, Andrew, Keegan, Katie, and Aaron. At the beginning of the movie, Mom glanced over at Katie Rose. She discovered that Katie Rose was curled up like a little ball, looking like she had no friends in the world. So, Mom reached out her arm and invited Katie to snuggle up with her. When Katie Rose started to glow like the sun, Mom said, “There you go. You’re as snug as a bug in a rug.” When the movie was half over, Mom looked over at Aaron. His eyes were droopy and he looked as if his best friend had told him to move to the moon. So, Mom reached out her arm and invited Aaron to

snuggle up with her. When Aaron started to glow like the sun, Mom said, “There you go. You’re as snug as a bug in a rug.” As the movie was coming to an end, Mom noticed that Andrew had sunk into the couch. He looked as lonely and depressed that Mom wondered what was wrong. So, Mom reached out her arm and invited Andrew to snuggle up with her. When Andrew started to glow like the sun, Mom said, “There you go. You’re as snug as a bug in a rug.” When the movie was over, it was time for bed. Mom tucked each of her kids into bed … first, Aaron; next, Katie; third Andrew; and finally, Keegan. Keegan had appeared to be okay during the movie, but now seemed to be held down by all the weight in the world. Mom curled up next to Keegan. Next thing Mom knew, Katie, then Aaron, and finally Andrew joined them. They were all as snug as a bug in a rug.

A Cold Ugly Night at Target By Makenzie and Sam One cold, ugly night in Target, Sam the Tiger and Makenzie the Cheetah were walking down aisle. They were as cold as snow. Sam and Makenzie walked up and down Aisle One and noticed that a pencil cost $5.00. It would usually cost $2.00 … a $3.00 difference. They almost fainted. Sam and Makenzie looked at each other and said, “There you go … it costs an arm and a leg.” Sam the Tiger and Makenzie the Cheetah went down Aisle Two. They saw that a sweatshirt was $30.00. That was about twice what a normal sweatshirt cost. “Is this a real store?”

asked Makenzie. Sam and Makenzie looked at each other and said, “There you go … it costs an arm and a leg.” Sam and Makenzie went to Aisle Three. It was the snack aisle. A pack of 12 juice boxes was $28.16. Sam and Makenzie went to the front of the store, looked at each other, and yelled, “There you go … it costs an arm and a leg!” Sam the Tiger and Makenzie the Cheetah went to the Aisle Four in Target. A clock was $5.00. Now they did not have to say that cost an arm and a leg. They had finally found something they could afford.

A Lonely Night By Anja and Jordan One dark, dusky night Mr. Chums the chubby pig, wanted somebody to play with rather than his boring non-moving family. So, he started looking like an owl at dark, dusky, night for a friend. First, Mr. Chums met a tiger in the jungle named Tigger that was eating raw fish like a hungry bear. They started to play but then, they heard something in the distance. Tigger fled like a deer being hunted and said “See you later alligator.” Next, Mr. Chums traveled to a giant mountain top as big as a volcano hoping to see someone. BAHH! BAHH! Mr. Chums heard a big fluffy mountain goat right around the edge. They started to play then, the mountain goat heard the enormous, loud footprints of a scary fierce dinosaur. The goat skedaddled away and said “See you later alligator.” Last, Mr. Chums traveled like a sloth to a muddy wetland habitat. Mr. Chums got into a mud puddle and looked like a dirty, muddy, monster that walked like a zombie on fours. Mr. Chums saw some muddy,

dirty monsters that had lime green seaweed coming out their backs like straws sticking out. Mr. Chums got brave enough to go and talk to the monsters and they started to play. In a sudden flash, hard rain started to crash the ground like an anchor sinking in the ocean. The monsters melted like ice cream and said “See you later alligator.” So, Mr. Chums couldn’t find anyone to play with and decided to go home and take a nice, peaceful, nap. In the morning, Mr. Chums awoke and got out of his comfortable bed and went outside. He saw something in the ravine that was fluffy and pink. It was a baby unicorn! Mr. Chums ran like a cheetah to go meet the baby unicorn. Mr. Chums and the pretty unicorn played lots of games and Mr. Chums now had a friend to play with. They lived happily ever after.

Last, that night Janel at her house and Chad at his house were getting ready for bed and brushing their dirty teeth. But then…they both smelled a delicious cherry pie. They followed the smell and found it in the tall grass and ate it. Then they both said, “Oh great now we have to brush our teeth again. Back to the old drawing board.” Then they went back to their warm homes and brushed their teeth again. The next day Chad and Janel both got 100% on their difficult test and made a delicious lunch. Hunter the Horse was watching Daisy the Dog like always. First, Daisy was running around like a puppy who had just joined the world. She danced around until…Hugh? Sniff! Sniff! Spat! “Daisies in the mud,” said Casey the Cow.” It’s alright, let her be. She’s having fun, and that’s what you’re supposed to do when your younge,” said Hunter the Horse.” The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree,” said Casey the Cow. Second, Daisy was skipping around like Dorthy from The Wizard of Oz. She was walking around like a professional! Of course until she spies… hay! Woof! Woof! “Daisies playing in the itchy hay again,” said Casey the Cow. “Like I said before, let her have fun!” said Hunter the Horse. Daisy played in the scratchy

hay for AN HOUR!” The acorn doesn’t fall far from a tree,” said Casey the Cow. In the end, Hunter the Horse realized that Daisy the Dog did everything he did when he was a young one and he chuckled. Hunter the horse said to Daisy the dog: jump in the clear as crystal water, play in the green grass, and mess with the big, spotted cows. No longer did Casey the Cow, that was as sweet as candy, have to say “The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.” However. she always had to say, “UH OH!”

The Rough Football Game By: Hunter & Andy

One sunny day AG-IV and Hunter Bowe were getting warmed up for a harsh football game at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs were playing the Seattle Seahawks. They were the best team in the league. AG-IV and Hunter Bowe would have to be on the lookout for Richard Sherman and the rest of the Seahalk defense shooting through the gaps. After warm ups Bob the Ref called AG-IV, Hunter Bowe, Russell Wilson, and Richard Sherman to flip the coin. Bob said to the players, “Play safe today.” AG-IV and Hunter said to Russel and Richard, “Ok now, the ball is on your court”. Russell and Richard called…HEADS! Bob called, “Heads, the Seahawks elect to kick.” Hunter, AG-IV, Russell, and Richard shook hands and walked off the field. When the kickoff ended AG-IV and Hunter Bowe rushed on the field. They called a Flag, HB Toss, and a Slant. It was 4th and 2 and the coach didn’t know what

to do. AG-IV looked at Hunter and said, “Ok now, the ball is in your court.” Hunter said, “Post, let’s do a post”. Towards the end of the game, it was 25-28, Seahawks in the lead. 0.05 seconds were left on the clock in the 4th quarter. If the Chiefs won, they would clinch a playoff spot right next to the Colts. AG-IV and Hunter had to make the hardest decision of the season. The decision was go for the touchdown and win the game or go for a field goal and the game would be tied. Hunter said to AG-IV, “Ok now, the ball is in your court.” AG-IV chose to go for the tie. “Oh no,” said the reporters. Then the Chiefs surprised everyone and ran the ball in for the win. The next week Andrew Luck from the Colts walked up for the coin flip. He said to AG-IV, “Ok now, the ball is in your court.” AG-IV said, “Heads we elect to receive!” The kick was off and another football game was played.

The Best Things in Life are FREE! By Mrs. Rice’s Writers Group One day in the busy green jungle, two small best friends were counting their jungle money. These pals were named Marcus Meer Kat and Spider Monkey. They only had 2 glossy leaves and one shiny rock – which equaled $2.01…which is NOT much jungle money. Meerkat and Monkey saw Ella Elephant spending lots of HER money on delicious leaf and peanut sandwiches. They had very little money to spend… but Ella hugged the friends with her humongous trunk and tossed them both

a peanut. The small friends yelled, “The best things in life are FREE!” Next Meerkat and Monkey saw a ferocious, fist-pounding gorilla spending all of his jungle money on colorful, juicy fruit. The nasty gorilla growled and chased the friends away. When they were safe, they laughed loudly and said, “The best things in life are FREE!” Finally, King Leo Lion saw how Meerkat and Monkey had escaped the bossy and bullying gorilla. The lion complimented the friends for not interfering with the gorilla’s nasty business. The King Lion gave the pals a huge pile of wildflowers. The friends

told the lion thank you, then sang out, “The best things in life are FREE!” Leo the Lion was impressed that such little creatures could escape a giant gorilla and be such positive friends. The king of the jungle asked the monkey and the meerkat to come live with him at the ROYAL WATERFALL! It would be no charge to them. The little friends still had not money…but it did not matter because the best things in life are FREE!!
