Stage One - Cub

The cub are the first stage of a polar bear life cycle. Cubs are young flesh-eating animals. Cubs are in groups called litters. Litters only have two cubs in the group.

Stage Two - Three Months Old Cub

The second stage of a polar bear is a three months old cub. After five weeks the cub starts to open their eyes and open their ears. Now the cubs are three months old and gained over twenty pounds. Now the cubs can expore the arctic. The cubs always need to follow their mother. Cubs start to wrestle. Wrestling is good practice for the cubs.


Stage Three Two Year Old Cub The third stage of a polar bear life cycle is a two year old polar bear. After the cub is two years old it starts to grow and almost on they're last stage. Now the cub can leave its mother and live its own life. Since prey is hard to find the cub might stay with their mother two more years. The cubs use their moves that their mother taught the cub to protect itself. 4


Stage Four Mature

The cub is now a grown up and can find a mate. A grown up polar bear is called a mature. Matures find a mate in spring. This is called mating season. When the polar bear find a mate the mate starts to have a newborn cub. After a cub is born the mate is a mother. 5

Polar bears are carnivores which means they are meat eaters. polar bears eat the fat of the prey. Eating fat is good for the polar bear body. It creates blubber. Blubber helps the bear stay warm in the cold and icy water.

Polar bears need to live in the cold freezing arctic. A polar bear can’t survive and eat that much when it's spring or summer. That’s why polar bears hibernate. Hibernating is sleeping till it’s winter or fall again.
