Stage 1 Egg An ant's life cycle begins as an egg. The eggs are soft and shaped like an oval. Also it is very tiny about the size of a dot. Not all eggs will survive.Some will get eaten by predators or other ants. But the ants lay 2,500 eggs a day so there is still more eggs that are not eaten by predators.

Stage 2 Larva The egg hatches into a worm shaped larva with no eyes or no legs. The larva are eating machines! They rely on the adults to give them constant supply of food. When eating they grow rapidly molting between sizes. After it will shed its skin.

Stage 3 Pupa When the larva is in shape and has enough weight it starts its metamorphosis! Metamorphosis is when a larva transforms into its next stage.The larva will rest until it is done resting. The larva will turn into a pupa when it's done resting.The pupa looks more like the adults but their bodies. When they get older the skin will get darker and darker. The pupa will spin a sheet of protection around itself. It is called a cocoon!

Stage 4 Adult The pupa will rest for a while. But after it rests it will turn into a adult! Young adults are light in color but when they get older the skin will get darker and darker like the pupa.The cycle will take 7 weeks to 7 months from egg to adult . The body parts will unfold and the ants can walk. Then the life cycle will start again.

HOW ANTS SURVIVE What do ants eat? The ants will eat about anything How do ants escape from like fruit or vegetables. predators? Ants can escape predators by using its powerful jaws to fling themselves away from getting eaten. How do ants survive? Oxygen enters through tiny holes all over its body and carbondioxide leaves through the same hole.

How do ants protect their offspring? The big and strong ants will gard the offspring so they do not get hurt.

Where do ants live? Ants live in large groups called colonies. They will make their nest in tree wall houses and buildings.

2. The worker ants has alot of body parts. Their are the antennae mandibles compound eyes ocelli legs and petiole. 3. The ant can carry 50 times its size and if you have 50 ants they can carry 2500 times its size all together. 4. The bolit ant has such a hard sting it is the most power full ant in the world. 5. The largest ant nest was over 3,700 miles!

6. The ants pupa can transform into a queen worker and male. 7. Ants will talk from vibrations. 8. There are over 12,000 species of ants in the whole world .
