Group Editorial While we were working on this magazine, we met a couple from Alabama, Jackson Andrew., and his wife, Sarah Andrew. He was getting payed a dollar a day after fifteen years. He had had enough. He gathered a group of men to come together to make a group called a union. Thanks to Jackson’s men and women, they started to stand up for equal pay and better working conditions. This is what we learned. We learned that new production techniques are not improving work conditions. “They have made our work dull and have lowered our wages” said Jackson. “They have become a problem.”

We also found out that republican presidents have been helpful to the workers. “They have expanded the economy and lowered our taxes,” said Sarah. ” They also added more factories, which gave us more opportunities.” Jackson believes that workers should be fighting for a more equal pay, better working conditions, and a better economy. “After WWI,” said Jackson, “ our wages decreased and hours increased.” All over the US, and especially in the South, the bosses are rich and workers are still poor. Finally, we learned that unions, like Jackson’s, are good for America. They stand up to bosses when no one else will. Unions have helped workers find jobs and gave them the courage to stand up to bosses. This is what Jackson and Sarah promise, and they will fight for it.

New Production Techniques By: Sydney Halvorsen
Opposite from what others say, these new production techniques such as the infamous Henry Ford Production Line is bad for american workers. Workers themselves are not improving from this way of work, they aren't gaining any experience, their payment is barely enough support a family. The work is melancholical, the labor is slave like, and although the production rates are through the roof, it isn't raising workers nor consumers happiness. The unemployment rates may be going down, but the work isn't nearly enough to keep anyone satisfied. If we could hear thoughts it would be a cacophony of anger and confusion from these workers.
Henry Ford's Production Line
While bosses of both small and large companies may say this is for the best, workers say otherwise. Not only is most of the money going to the bosses of the company's, but they force the workers to work overtime without higher pay, ignoring the complaints. If they choose to go on strike or such the bosses can fire and replace disobedient workers. The outcries and complaints of the people and workers is not enough to stop the tyrants looming over them when they can be easily tossed aside and replaced like a child's toy they no longer want to left abandoned in the rain on the grimy and infested streets of the city.

The GOP is good for me! By: Jordamy Bobliko After World War I, Americans wanted their leaders to maintain peaceful relations around the globe. They also wanted republican leadership to pass policies that were good for Americans. Overall, the Republican era presidents were good for America. The Republican era presidents helped return lives of Americans to the way they were before the war. During WW1 citizens were poor they not have enough money to buy good and live the life they wanted and jobs were all related to the war effort so when the republican era started, they provided jobs for the soldiers after the war, jobs in factories, automobile industry. In 1923 Transport, communication, and finance all expanded. All that got America back to the business of doing business. Republican era presidents promoted deregulation of business. Union was good for america because it helped expand industry. One thing that was good at that time is that they lowered price of goods because deregulation lost production; they lowered taxes which allowed consumers to have more money to spend on goods like cars, refrigerator radio, And TV just durable goods Union raised the amount of things they could buy, union made americans happy. So how exactly did they lower taxes?
Another reason the Republican era Presidents were good for America was because of disarmament. Disarmament is the reduction of weapons. This policy was also followed by other nations because of an agreement made at the Washington Naval Conference. Representatives from many countries agreed to reduce their armies and navies if the United States agreed to destroy 30 warships. This was good because it showed that the United States was serious about peace and it meant more countries would reducing the size of their armies and navies. Disarmament was good for America because it helped create peace between countries. It wasn’t easy being President after World War I. However, the Republican presidents of the 1920s were good for Americans because they helped return America to a life that existed prior to the outbreak of war.
Workers Rights By Arie Paul
I believe that workers should be fighting for equality, better wages, and a better economy. The first thing workers should be fighting for is equality. In the workplace and at home, workers do not have as much rights as the boss. In the union song, “The Big Fat Boss Man and the Workers,” Ella Mays says that the workers are being discriminated by the boss. Also, according to The Independent, most laborers are are potential or actual capitalists.

The next thing workers should be fighting for is a bigger and better wage. After the War to end all Wars, there was a major decrease in the wages. Strikes were a negative effect of these low wages, as well as the increase in the price of goods. Bishop William Quayle of the Methodist Episcopal Church, says that, “Wages should be as high as the well-being”. Now I can agree to that! The third and final thing workers should fight for is the economy. Andrew W. Mellon, present Secretary of the Treasury, believes that if the government spent less money, the the economy would be healthier! Now that is exciting. In the last year, we have experienced a major tax cut. Secretary Mellon also believes that less taxes would allow us to invest in job-making industries. In all, workers, like me, should be fighting for equality, a better wage, and a better economy. Workers need more rights in the workplace, along with a better wage. Workers, and the public in general, should also push for a better economy.
Unions: Are they Good Or Bad for America? Jace Atwood Yes unions are good for America. Unions stood up to bosses when no one else would. They wanted equal pay and better work conditions.Pay could not provide for families. Provide for family and families will start to work for you. Working conditions were so bad that employees were dieing. More death of enploys less workers. Less workers less goods. Less goods less money for you. Unions helped America grow stronger. Helps people find jobs. When people have jobs there are more goods being produced. When there are more goods being produced, our military is stronger and economy is stronger.Goods can be traded with other countries.
Unions are people who will fight for what is right. We all need equal pay and always better work condition. We are no living in the eighteen hundreds anymore if we strive for a better work condition then we will get it. The bosses have been in power for too long we need to put an end to. Men and women are dying kids living on the streets because of dead parents we can make a change if we try. The best definition for Unions are a group of people that believe that the workers are underpaid and working in unable work conditions. I have proved that people are sick poor unable to provide for you're family some are dead. There has been strikes what else will we have to do to get better work conditions an equal pay.
