Spring Forward, a giant leap

Making the headlines in this issue is Euphony’s imminent expansion into Eastern Europe. The Czech Republic’s official launch has been scheduled for June and follows the acquisition of the country’s largest reseller, which is currently being integrated into the Euphony Group. The Company will be relocated to new offices in the Karlin district of Prague during March. The Karlin district is undergoing a major transformation from what was once a poor residential area to a thriving sector of Prague and many major corporations have moved there in recent years. Hopefully some of you will have the opportunity to call in and welcome our new colleagues to the Euphony family in person. In Ireland, talk just got a whole lot cheaper! euTALK+15 is the new residential landline service specifically designed to revive the Irish residential market. The service is targeted at regular callers who use their landlines at all times of day and is based on the signing of a 15-month contract. euTALK+15 offers unrivalled value for money and the incredible cost-saving benefits include: Monthly service charge of just €1.00 (incl. VAT) for the first three months Monthly service charge of €9.99 (incl. VAT) thereafter Free landline calls to 20 popular international destinations including the UK Discounted landline calls to a further 6 international destinations Flat rate of €0.36 (inc VAT) per minute to mobiles in selected international destinations Highly competitive rates to Irish mobiles For more details please see page 20. The transition to Cerillion and Quinstreet is all but complete. Yes, we have had our share of teething troubles – apparently unavoidable - but we’re also starting to feel the considerable benefits of our new systems. Thank you all for your patience and understanding during the bedding in phase, and a special word of gratitude to our IT heroes at Head Office who worked long and hard to make it happen.

Take a well-deserved bow.

Hello and welcome to the first issue of euMAGAZINE for 2007. I don’t think I can recall the first quarter of any year passing quite as quickly as the one that has just flown by. On the other hand, they say that the older you get the faster time flies! Well, it has certainly been an eventful, in the true sense of the word, and action packed start, which augurs well for a memorable and highly successful year. Our expansion across Europe continues. Portugal has celebrated its official launch and the Czech Republic looks set to do likewise around mid-year. Congratulations are also due to Spain on completing their first year of operation. I have no doubt that year two will bring further growth. The big question now of course is, where next? The implementation of our Cerillion and Quinstreet systems, as anticipated, has not been without its trials and tribulations but most of us appear to have survived, and we are starting to reap the benefits. The launch of our new euTALK+15 service in the Republic of Ireland has caused a buzz of excitement in the field. If the UK experience is anything to go buy, I think we have a real winner here. Good luck to all those who now have this highly competitive service in their product portfolio. I am also very bullish about the growing frequency of training events throughout the Group. These events have an incredibly positive effect in terms of developing the skills and confidence levels of our newer consultants. Learning how from those who have proved themselves is guaranteed to translate into greater productivity. Another aspect that should increase productivity is our effective use of the Internet to provide information and additional training opportunities. The my-euphony site is now a one-stop portal to everything our consultants need to grow their product knowledge and their businesses. Orange have also been proactive in this respect and you can learn all about the new Orange Enable Hub that has been specifically set up to provide consultants with the latest information on the range of talkplans and handsets available from our euMOBILE partners. In closing, I would like to wish all the Mauritius incentive winners Bon Voyage! I just hope you can resist the seductive charms of paradise enough to come back home! Best wishes Hugh Brennan, MD, Euphony Communications UK and ROI Spring 2007

New Year’s Party Country: The Netherlands Date: 20th January 2007

A glittering VIP occasion Country: Belgium Date: 26th January 2007

Celebrated in Black and White Country: United Kingdom Date: 27th January 2007

First broadcast done and dusted Country: Belgium Date: 2nd February 2007

Hundreds of Dutch consultants and their friends attended this event in Club S7ven to ‘Feel the Euphony Vibe’. The event was an outstanding success.

An exclusive dinner, chic cocktail dresses, a magnificent ballroom and networking – these were the ingredients for the exclusive VIP Black Tie Event. The Belle Epoque ballroom at the Antwerp Hilton hotel was the venue and the top Belgian and Dutch network personalities were invited along with high-ranking guests from the other countries, including Geoff Liberman, Giles Redpath and Oscar Garcia.

The UK’s first Development Day for 2007 was held on 27th January, in Rotherham, and proved to be a phenomenal success with over 200 BCs in attendance from all over the UK and beyond!

At this event CMO Frank Van de Wege, together with Mobistar’s Head of Direct Partners, Sven Bols, cooked a magnificent four-course dinner for the 200 BC’s who qualified.

Belgium’s New Year’s party was a huge success. About a 1500 Euphonici attended the event at Sotto’s. The impressive results for December 2006 were announced during a short presentation: 21,948 SIMs and 6607 energy services were signed up that month. Impressive numbers aside, the Eureka promotional campaign was launched and the troops were motivated by Marilyn to ‘sell like hell’ in 2007. After a mini-concert from Kate Ryan, Belgium’s candidate for Eurosong last year, Euphony’s resident DJ Hans, supported by the Devil Dancers, got the party into top gear and kept it in overdrive until 2am.

The evening started with a special business presentation dedicated entirely to the launch of Euphony in Portugal. Guest speaker was Isabel Relvas, Portugal’s MD, who came over especially to inform everyone on Portugal and the products they are about to launch at the end of this month. After Portugal, it was time for some Dutch news: recognition, a new incentive… and when all the formalities were done it was party time!

Between the exquisite culinary delights, Giles and Frank addressed the guests and discussed their dreams for Euphony’s future. After the performance of ‘Plane Vanille’, dessert was presented with much grandeur and the DJ invited all present to let their hair down on the dance floor.

@ Cooking Event

During this event we tried out our first euTV broadcast on the Internet. Besides a live report from the cooking event that evening, there was also a studio element, with interviews and movies about eureka and the travel incentive. The event went smoothly, the broadcast, not quite as well. The reason was purely technical because we decided to broadcast at a higher resolution than normal. As a result, the buffering of the broadcast demanded too much time and server space. But we learn from our mistakes.

Favourite song ‘Baywatch’ because I like to re-live my student life on a regular basis.

It was my mother who originally introduced me to the Euphony opportunity through close family friends. At the time I had just finished my degree in Sport Development at Sheffield Hallam University and was not looking forward to the prospect of an ordinary job earning a minimal salary in a Sport Development Office. I saw Euphony as a way to boost my annual income and live the lifestyle that I wanted, while doing a job I enjoyed in sport. I didn’t fully understand the business plan but, like everyone, was very impressed by the income that could potentially be generated by the call commissions. After asking a lot of questions a friend and I signed up that very day and immediately sat down to watched a training DVD before calling our friends and families for our first few customers. I would love to have been shown this opportunity while at university, which leads me to believe that campuses are good places to find both customers and new team members. I’m currently doing the rounds to introduce more students to the business. I have just achieved my first promotion, to SC, and my immediate goal is to gain promotion to EC in the months ahead.

It is most inspiring to see my customers and my team growing rapidly - often on a daily basis! The bottom line is that this translates into more and more income for me as the commission payments keep growing month on month. The huge support you receive once you’re involved in Euphony makes it really easy to get off to a great start if you’re prepared to make the effort. Apart from the financial rewards that are there for the making, it’s also so much fun. I’ve met so many great people through organised events and there’s no doubt about it, the more you learn the more you start to earn. I thank all those who have helped me so much in my short time of being involved in Euphony, Hugh and Elaine Galt in particular, as well as the endless invaluable advice from people in other teams, such as Mark Joyner, Pete Wright and Dave Tetlow. I still can’t believe what’s happening to me. It all seems to be too good to be true. But every time I find another commission cheque in the post I know it’s all for real.

Spring 2007

This opportunity is a matter of growth, from all perspectives.

UK’s Spring Forward, Saturday, 31st March ’07, saw the seasonally themed Spring Forward Development Day held in Rotherham.

Believe it or not, it was with reluctance and fear that Mary Ryan joined Euphony, in December 2003, on the advice of her husband, Martin, who had seen a Euphony presentation.

I have found an inner strength and confidence that was probably buried in me…

Statistics Mary Ryan, PC Camlin, Co. Wexford Car Ford Mondeo

Significant other? Married to Martin, with three children – Mary Frances, a journalist, Aileen, a scientist and Martin, Jnr. a final year engineer at UCD

First job Bank official

Favourite book ‘Memoirs’ by John McGaharn

Favourite quote ‘To thine self be true and then it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not be false to any man’ by William Shakespeare

Favourite song ‘My Way’ by Frank Sinatra

Film role I would like to have played As a child I would love to have played Hayley Mills in Tiger Bay.

Euphony’s Chief Marketing Officer, Frank Van de Wege, hosted the morning’s proceedings with the panache and enthusiasm that have become his trademark. Among the speakers in the first session were the much-loved Hugh and Elaine Galt, and it wasn’t long before Hugh had everyone on their feet with lyrics titled “Fired Up”, sung to the tune of The Village People classic, YMCA.

During the lunch break, Malcolm Hyde took over the wheel as host for the remainder of the day and the afternoon’s programme saw the march of high profile presenters continue unabated.

After a short break, it was time for recognition with the newly promoted consultants taking centre stage and saying a few words on their experiences and achievements. Last year I helped my frontline BC, Beryl Power, to gain sufficient points to qualify for a super holiday in Turkey sponsored completely by Euphony, which she and her friend thoroughly enjoyed.

The evening began with a Hog Roast and music provided by live band, The Dead Flies, plus a livewire DJ to ensure much springing forwards and backwards – not to mention sideways - on the dance floor! I must thank my husband, Martin, and Martin Junior for their support. It was my son who taught his not-sotechnically-minded mother how to open mobiles, put in SIM cards, change names from ‘phone to SIM’ and vice versa, to name some of the useful new tricks I have learnt. Further speakers included a host of our most experienced and inspirational leaders, each armed with invaluable input.

I was invited to a Euphony Business Opportunity Meeting by a good friend, in May 2005. The presentation was very professionally executed and it certainly caught my interest. I was rather sceptical initially, coming from a legal background and asked loads of questions. Still sceptical, I gave my wife (an economist with an MBA) the notes I took at the meeting. Two days later, she got back to me with a ‘YES!’ I considered how Euphony would fit into my already tight schedule as a committed family man running an immigration consultancy practice. I decided to give it a go and I gave it my all from day one. One of the keys to my success is personal commitment. I set realistic personal targets and work hard at achieving them. I committed my plans to God and I exceeded my targets. I also made a commitment to attend every Euphony meeting and event. The result was that I got refreshed on a weekly basis. I had up to date information on new deals, promotions and incentives and this gave me an edge. To date I have been absent from a Euphony presentation only twice. My father always told me that to be successful you must fraternize with successful people. I cultivated a relationship with leaders like John

Walsh, Seamus O’Brien, Brian Foran, Victorio and many others. By so doing I learnt a lot about the business. Any person who wants to be successful in the business must be ready to go through the learning curve. I have applied all the advice and tips received from the leaders religiously and I am glad to say that I have not for one day regretted my involvement with Euphony. It has not been a bed of roses all the way. I have had challenging times but I have approached all challenges with determination and faith. Overcoming challenges only serves to make you stronger and tougher. I believe that man has the ability to achieve anything he sets his heart on achieving. The only person that can stop you is yourself. I became a PC after 16 months of joining the business with about 75 team BCs and 10 frontline BCs. I have also been given the opportunity to impart what I have learnt as a TC and mobile trainer. I have been on two Euphony incentive holidays – to Barcelona and Turkey. The Turkey experience was one of a lifetime. Imagine a holiday where you did not miss your wallet? All expenses were paid, including food and drinks, 24/7! As I once told my sponsor, my relationship with Euphony is forever, nothing will separate me from Euphony.

Spring 2007

I began with Euphony just after I had finished my A-Levels and was really excited about having my own part-time business which could be flexibly run alongside the other jobs I have taken on to fund my Gap Year activities. At the time I started out, I was working really long hours for Starbucks and a football coaching company, and was looking to drop one of the two to give my life a bit more balance. Euphony presented the perfect opportunity as I could work more reasonable hours and when it suited me. Although there is much to learn in terms of techniques and methods, the business itself is relatively simple as it is basically recommending great costsaving services to people and inviting friends along to see a 45-minute business presentation. At first, I was surprised by the amount of support that my upline gave, especially the encouragement and back up I received from Mark Joyner and my eldest brother Rick Smithies. This certainly helped make it much easier and more enjoyable for me to get my business off the ground. In the short time I have been involved with Euphony I have found it to be very rewarding working with the team and seeing people in the team succeed. Not only have I learnt a lot from my upline, but those in my downline have taught how to make the most of customer and

consultant prospects. Through keeping in touch with my upline I have learnt the most effective ways to gather customers and also invite potential BCs to a 2-2-1 meeting. In addition to this, I believe that it is absolutely invaluable to attend the training opportunities presented by the leading consultants. The primary function of these meetings for me is that you can learn the skills you require to approach new prospects. Of course the determination and enthusiasm these leaders radiate is positively infectious and extremely inspiring. My aim for the remainder of my gap year is simply to show the business opportunity and our amazing services to as many people as possible. I believe that if I work consistently with the team and talk to more and more people the sky is the limit. In the longer term, I am incredibly excited about what Euphony holds in store as it develops new services and expands into new countries. When I commence University in September 2007 I look forward to meeting even more open-minded individuals and bringing them on board! Hopefully, once I complete my education I’ll be in a great position to move up a gear or two, set even higher goals for myself and run my Euphony business on a full-time basis.

When I first saw the Euphony opportunity, I immediately appreciated its enormous potential but I thought I would not have enough time to go out and reap all the benefits that were there for the taking. I currently attend college full-time, play basketball twice a week and, in addition to an already busy weekly schedule, I also have a weekend telesales job with Sky. Fortunately, I found I could not have been more wrong! It may sound paradoxical, but what I have discovered is that I do not need to put hour upon hour into the business. However, what I have found to be of the utmost importance is my productivity. I need to use every second of every hour that I do have available… EFFECTIVELY and EFFICIENTLY! In my first few days, I planned to gather lots of customers. However, I was hit with objection after objection, which was extremely demoralising. I decided to ask my upline for advice. They advised me to sit with them whilst talking to potential customers and that way, whenever I was asked a question I could not effectively answer, I could pass them the phone, and the possible objection would be defused. Moreover, I found that asking potential customers if they knew anyone who might be interested in the service really works as the majority of people who wanted mobiles would direct me to

friends who also wanted a one. I also soon realised that this business is about duplication and that I should emulate the people who were doing well. I have been involved with Euphony for about five months and would not have had success so early without the help of my upline, who took me under their wing. A massive thank you to Joe Smithies, my sponsor, Richard Smithies and Mark Joyner who have all played a key role in my success with Euphony.

I need to use every second of every hour that I do have… EFFECTIVELY and EFFICIENTLY

Statistics What I find most amazing is that, as I previously mentioned, I am still only doing Euphony on a part-time basis. However, with the continued support of my upline and a good measure of persistence and determination on my part, I will be able to have a full-time income. Let’s face it there can’t be many opportunities out there, if any, that offer you this kind of return. Euphony has been an essential vehicle in giving me an additional income in the form of team building and quick start bonuses. And I have high hopes and great expectations for the future. I plan to build a team that allows me the live the dream that I cherish: the financial freedom that I have been so hungry for from a very young age and the independence it brings, the latitude to meet new people, and moreover to have all the extra time I would like to spend with my friends and my family.

I come from a conventional advertising and marketing background and was employed in advertising sales for a national newspaper before moving to an outdoor media company which did bus advertising. I then decided to go out on my own as a marketing consultant advising small businesses. I was approached to take a look at Euphony in December of ‘97 but said no to even meeting someone to hear about it. When a good friend of mine got on board in February ‘98 I was still not interested. I became a customer of his in June ‘98 and soon enjoyed savings of around 30% on my home/office phone bill. Now I saw things through the eyes of a satisfied customer and my perspective changed completely! I joined the business as a consultant in December ‘98 working very part-time – just one night a week. By the end of my first month, I was a Senior Consultant, with 12 new Business Consultants in my team, and by the end of my second month that number had doubled to 24. I developed to Principal Consultant by being consistent and by using the weekly presentation meetings to build my team. At this stage I had virtually doubled my income by augmenting what I earned as a marketing consultant with several income streams from my Euphony business!

When we opened Ireland, in September 2000, I had the privilege of hosting the event. I sponsored five new frontline Business Consultants and within eight months the number had grown to 150! I began to work my Euphony business more intensely, rising to Managing Consultant in 2003. I still work this remarkable business on a part-time basis with ample spare time for a property investment business, which I have run with my wife for the past six years, and my passion in life, football. I coach the Loughgall FC Reserve team in the Irish Premier league and hold a UEFA ‘A’ Licence coaching badge. I now also enjoy being an euCADEMY trainer, working alongside colleagues such as Jim Bosworth, Pete Wright and many, many more people enjoying the benefits that this business can provide you, if you are prepared to take a serious look at it. Euphony has given me enormous flexibility of lifestyle and the freedom to completely control my own working life. I have been on paid holidays and enjoyed meeting and working with many fantastic people. advice passed on in just one day. The content of the presentations covered a wide spectrum of vital aspects regarding the running of a Euphony business and the guest speakers were excellent.

Host for the day, Bob Mitchell, introduced COO Gary Muchmore who got proceedings underway with an informative presentation on the new IT systems. This set the tone for an enlightening range topics presented by some of Euphony’s top consultants and corporate leaders, including MD Hugh Brennan.

Even the luncheon break was put to productive use when many took the opportunity to mingle, stock up on supplies, buy the latest motivational books and CDs, at a 10% discount, as well as purchase extra tickets for the raffle to be held later that evening. Needless to say, the Black and White evening brought music and merriment for all – a truly magnificent occasion with the accent on friendship, dancing and fun. This included a little dabble at the Casino with play money to win the Orange SPV M3100 mobile, which had been donated as a prize courtesy of Orange. Special mention must go to that irrepressible dance-floor dervish, Ric Clayfield, and the astonishing break dancing skills of Luke North.

Our man from Orange, Andrew Lowe gave an overview of our euMOBILE business, titled The Orange Future, and also took the opportunity to recognise Clayton Gordon, Adnan Ahmed and Ikram Anwar who headed the table for euMOBILE connections in recent months. As is the Euphony way, the day included yet another opportunity for recognition of newly promoted SCs who duly took to the stage.

The next Development Day will be held on 31st March 2007 at the same venue. Limited tickets are available so diarise and make your bookings now to avoid disappointment.

At 20 years old Jim Clayfield was facing up to the reality of working 9 to 5 for 50 years or realistically 8 to 6 with rush hour traffic. ‘It was a prospect I was not looking forward to, especially at the end of which I was told pensions would be non-existent’, says Jim.

Now at 27, life is somewhat different for the Lincolnshire entrepreneur. I was first introduced to Euphony by my friend Pete Wright. I was a student in Newcastle. I had debts of £8,000, no car and lived with constant financial pressures. Pete and I had a strategy session and he asked me two simple questions:

‘Do you want to be financially free?’ I answered, ‘Yes.’ ‘Do you want to have time to enjoy life rather than living from pay cheque to pay cheque?’ Again I answered ‘Yes.’ In 6 years I have never seen a better opportunity to attain the Holy Grail of achieving both financial freedom and having the time to enjoy it.

borrowing is at an all time high and 1 in 6 people struggle to pay their minimum loan repayments every month. By 2009 the average student is forecast to leave university with a £30,000 debt and at the age of 65 only 4% of the population are comfortable and 1% are wealthy. Those are facts that I couldn’t run away from. With Euphony you can build financial freedom in just a few years.

Euphony has absolutely changed my life. I was able to leave work at the age of 24 instead of 70; we have enjoyed all expenses paid trips to New York, Las Vegas, Barcelona and most recently Bali, but more importantly I met the most amazing Irish lady (Martha) at a Euphony conference in Harrogate, February 2002 – we got married in August 2004.

It took me a while to get my head around what I needed to do to be successful, but there was one thing I picked up from day one, and that was to be positive. I realised the only person that could stop me was myself. All excuses were equal and none were accepted because I was my own boss. After 2 years of hard work I was making more income from my part-time business than I was from my full-time job. That’s when I sacked the boss.

I’ve spent the last 6 months in Barcelona, which was fantastic, but I made a decision to move back to the UK in October to be part of the unprecedented growth that is about to happen here. John Walsh’s fabulous Passion and Power Training Day was held on Saturday, 3rd March, at the new Westgrove Hotel in Clane, Ireland. The event began with Alan Tracy and Terrance Ruane from Mercury Finance giving an update and recognising the euFINANCE high flyers. One high flyer, Tommy Morgan, explained how he has become one of the top performers through sheer hard work and determination. Managing Director, Hugh Brennan revealed the prelaunch of Euphony Ireland’s first Fixed Term Contract product, euTALK+15, with a target launch date of 14th April ’07. Irish customers will now be able to call 20 popular international destinations FREE with a further 6 destinations at a low rate. 3

After a short break, it was time to introduce the guest speaker – highly acclaimed Declan Coyle. Declan’s invaluable training session was extremely well received. He explained how goals, self-belief and positive thinking lead to abundant success. It was without a doubt a truly amazing training session that had all attendees highly focused and completely recharged. Of course, this was not only a training event – it was also a charity event. The evening event was held specifically for the PREDA foundation and we were honoured to have founder and three times Nobel Peace Prize nominee Father Shay present. A champagne reception awaited the many guests, dignitaries and local celebrities who arrived especially for the charity 4

auction. A mouth watering three-course meal was enjoyed by all during which many took the opportunity to inspect the list of auction items. Before the auction, Father Shay shared his experiences in liberating vulnerable children from a life of exploitation in the Philippines. A news clip featuring Father Shay discussing the rescue work by PREDA with CNN reporter, Chris Rodgers, was shown. It soon became apparent why Father Shay’s work was so important and how vital the evening’s charity event was. With that proceedings came under auctioneer EC Colin Johnson’s hammer. All items were paraded with an expertise that put the best game show assistants in the business to shame. John and his stunning assistant Bernie are being eagerly pursued to sign up for the next series of The Price is Right. Testimony to their suave presentation skills is the fact that over €25,000 was raised for a most deserving cause. 5
